RESUMO

In the production of geometries that traditional methods cannot produce, it is seen that additive manufacturing (AM) technology, which has come to the fore, has been used extensively in conformal cooling channel (CCC) applications in recent years. This study, conducted within the scope of CCC's use of applied mold cores in automotive industry plastic part production, aimed to reduce the cycle time in the injection printing process. The v1 geometry, which gives the analysis results for ideal printing quality from the channel geometries developed with three different design approaches, is produced with direct metal laser sintering, which is an AM laser sintering technology, and the injection printing cycle time has been reduced by 38%. CCC applied the study's primary motivation to develop duct geometry to provide balanced cooling in the automotive industry's mold cores produced with AM. It is known that the Computer Numerical Control machining process in traditional mold methods does not allow the processing of the channels in the internal geometries, and the deep areas where the heat is concentrated cannot be cooled sufficiently. In the study, CCC geometries where AM design parameters are used effectively and the balanced cooling performance expected from the die core can be achieved. The effects of different geometries on production are discussed.

PURPOSE: Obesity has become a very significant health problem in childhood. Fructose taken in an uncontrolled manner and consumed in excessive amounts is rapidly metabolized in the body and gets converted into fatty acids. This single center prospective case-control study aims to investigate the relationship between fructose consumption and obesity and the role of fructose consumption in development of atherosclerotic diseases. METHODS: A total of 40 obese and 40 healthy children who were of similar ages (between 8 and 18 years) and sexes were included in the study. In the patient and control groups, the urine fructose levels, as well as the levels of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL), small dense LDL, Apolipoprotein A and Apolipoprotein B values, which have been shown to play a role in development of atherosclerotic diseases, were measured. RESULTS: The levels of oxidized LDL and small dense LDL and the ratio of Apolipoprotein A/Apolipoprotein B were found to be significantly higher in the patient group. CONCLUSION: We found that urinary fructose levels were higher in the obese children than the healthy children. Our results suggest that overconsumption of fructose in children triggers atherogenic diseases by increasing the levels of small dense LDL and oxidized LDL and the ratio of Apolipoprotein B/Apolipoprotein A.

RESUMO

Ablation of premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) originating from left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT)/left ventricular summit (LVS) is challenging with considerable rate of failure. Recently, in a novel approach to ablation of these arrythmias, application of radiofrequency energy to anatomically opposite sites of presumed origin of arrythmia, has been associated with moderate procedure success. Although late elimination of PVCs that are persistent following an ablation procedure has been previously reported, this observation has not been studied sufficiently. In this report, firstly, we present three cases of lately eliminated LVS PVCs, then, we discuss possible mechanism of this observation and conclude that after an initial failed attempt of anatomic ablation, operators may choose a period of watchful waiting before attempting a redo procedure.

RESUMO

This report illustrates a feasible and anatomical solution aiming to improve the success and decrease the possible hazards such as atrioventricular block during ablation of parahisian PVCs. We tried to illustrate the specific anatomy pertaining parahisian region and to explain a retrograde subvalvular catheter technique to overcome these procedural obstacles.
