RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: LANDMARC (CTRI/2017/05/008452), a prospective, observational real-world study, evaluated the occurrence of diabetes complications, glycemic control and treatment patterns in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) from pan-India regions over a period of 3 years. METHODS: Participants with T2DM (≥25 to ≤60 years old at diagnosis, diabetes duration ≥2 years at the time of enrollment, with/without glycemic control and on ≥2 antidiabetic therapies) were included. The proportion of participants with macrovascular and microvascular complications, glycemic control and time to treatment adaptation over 36 months were assessed. RESULTS: Of the 6234 participants enrolled, 5273 completed 3 years follow-up. At the end of 3-years, 205 (3.3%) and 1121 (18.0%) participants reported macrovascular and microvascular complications, respectively. Nonfatal myocardial infarction (40.0%) and neuropathy (82.0%) were the most common complications. At baseline and 3-years, 25.1% (1119/4466) and 36.6% (1356/3700) of participants had HbA1c <7%, respectively. At 3-years, population with macrovascular and microvascular complications had higher proportion of participants with uncontrolled glycemia (78.2% [79/101] and 70.3% [463/659], respectively) than those without complications (61.6% [1839/2985]). Over 3-years, majority (67.7%-73.9%) of the participants were taking only OADs (biguanides [92.2%], sulfonylureas [77.2%] and DPP-IV inhibitors [62.4%]). Addition of insulin was preferred in participants who were only on OADs at baseline, and insulin use gradually increased from 25.5% to 36.7% at the end of 3 years. CONCLUSION: These 3-year trends highlight the burden of uncontrolled glycemia and cumulative diabetes-related complications, emphasizing the importance of optimizing diabetes management in India.

INTRODUCTION: There are limited data on the real-world management of diabetes in the Indian population. In this 2-year analysis of the LANDMARC study, the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and related complications were assessed. METHOD: This multicenter, observational, prospective study included adults aged ≥25 to ≤60 years diagnosed with T2DM (duration ≥2 years at enrollment) and controlled/uncontrolled on ≥2 anti-diabetic agents. This interim analysis at 2 years reports the status of glycaemic control, diabetic complications, cardiovascular (CV) risks and therapy, pan-India including metropolitan and non-metropolitan cities. RESULTS: Of the 6234 evaluable patients, 5318 patients completed 2 years in the study. Microvascular complications were observed in 17.6% of patients (1096/6234); macrovascular complications were observed in 3.1% of patients (195/6234). Higher number of microvascular complications were noted in patients from non-metropolitan than in metropolitan cities (p < .0001). In 2 years, an improvement of 0.6% from baseline (8.1%) in mean glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) was noted; 20.8% of patients met optimum glycaemic control (HbA1c < 7%). Hypertension (2679/3438, 77.9%) and dyslipidaemia (1776/3438, 51.7%) were the predominant CV risk factors in 2 years. The number of patients taking oral anti-diabetic drugs in combination with insulin increased in 2 years (baseline: 1498/6234 [24.0%] vs. 2 years: 1917/5763 [33.3%]). While biguanides and sulfonylureas were the most commonly prescribed, there was an evident increase in the use of dipeptidyl peptidase-IV inhibitors (baseline: 3049/6234, 48.9% vs. 2 years: 3526/5763, 61.2%). CONCLUSION: This longitudinal study represents the control of T2DM, its management and development of complications in Indian population. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: CTRI/2017/05/008452.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition that poses a mammoth challenge for the healthcare system in developing as well as developed nations. Diabetes mellitus is associated with damage to the vasculature which leads to microvascular and macrovascular complications. Oxidative stress is a consequence of glucotoxicity and lipotoxicity, which are associated with diabetes. Glucotoxicity and lipotoxicity play a part in the pathogenesis of ß-cell dysfunction. The hyperglycemic state in DM leads to oxidative stress which further hampers insulin secretion. In diabetes, the biological antioxidants also get depleted along with a reduction in glutathione (GSH), an increase in the oxidized glutathione (GSSG)/GSH ratio, and a depletion of non-enzymatic antioxidants. This results in the formation of a viscous circle of hyperglycemia leading to increased oxidative stress that further hampers insulin secretion which in turn results in hyperglycemia. Antioxidants are efficacious in reducing diabetic complications. The antioxidants produced biologically fall short, hence external supplements are required. In this review, the authors have discussed the relationship between oxidative stress in DM and the advantages of antioxidant supplements in controlling blood glucose levels and also in deaccelerating the complications related to DM.

AIMS: Despite their established benefits, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) remain underutilized for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) management, which indicates that subcutaneous injection is an unfavorable mode of delivery from the patient's perspective. This review summarizes existing challenges related to medication adherence and the use of antihyperglycemia injectables, revisits the established safety and efficacy of oral semaglutide, and explores its features and considerations for use among the Indian T2DM population. METHODS: We performed a literature search using MEDLINE and the National Institutes of Health Clinical Trials Registry from July 1, 2016, to July 1, 2021, to identify publications on oral semaglutide approval, T2DM treatment guidelines, and clinical evidence for oral drug formulation. RESULTS: Oral semaglutide is the first oral GLP-1 RA approved for T2DM patients based on phase 3, randomized PIONEER trials. The multitargeted action of this drug offers glycemic control, weight control, and cardiovascular, renal, and additional benefits, including patient convenience and enhanced medication adherence. In addition to achieving glycemic control, the cost of semaglutide is reported to be lower than other GLP-1 RA in the West, thus potentially mitigating the economic burden that appears to be high among the Indian population. CONCLUSIONS: Currently, there is no data available on oral semaglutide in Indian clinical settings. However, significant improvements in glycemic control, cardiac and renal benefits, as well as weight loss across clinical trials should encourage clinicians to prioritize oral semaglutide over other antidiabetic agents.

INTRODUCTION: Longitudinal data on management and progression of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in India are scarce. LANDMARC (CTRI/2017/05/008452), first-of-its-kind, pan-India, prospective, observational study aimed to evaluate real-world patterns and management of T2DM over 3 years. METHODS: Adults (≥25 to ≤60 years old at T2DM diagnosis; diabetes duration ≥2 years at enrolment; controlled/uncontrolled on ≥2 anti-diabetic agents) were enrolled. The first-year trends for glycaemic control, therapy and diabetic complications, including those from metropolitan and non-metropolitan cities are reported here. RESULTS: Of 6236 enrolled participants, 5654 completed 1 year in the study. Although the overall mean glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) improved by 0.5% (baseline: 8.1%) at 1 year, only 20% of the participants achieved HbA1c <7%. Participants from metropolitan and non- metropolitan cities showed similar decrease in glycaemic levels (mean change in HbA1c: -0.5% vs. -0.5%; p = .8613). Among diabetic complications, neuropathy was the predominant complication (815/6236, 13.1% participants). Microvascular complications (neuropathy, nephropathy and retinopathy) were significantly (p < .0001) higher in non-metropolitan than metropolitan cities. Hypertension (2623/6236, 78.2%) and dyslipidaemia (1696/6236, 50.6%) continued to be the most commonly reported cardiovascular risks at 1 year. After 1 year, majority of the participants were taking only oral anti-diabetic drugs (OADs) (baseline: 4642/6236 [74.4%]; 1 year: 4045/6013 [67.3%]), while the proportion of those taking insulin along with OADs increased (baseline: 1498/6236 [24.0%] vs. 1 year: 1844/6013 [30.7%]). Biguanides and sulfonylureas were the most used OADs. The highest increase in use was seen for dipeptidyl peptidase-IV inhibitors (baseline: 3047/6236 [48.9%]; 1 year: 3529/6013 [58.7%]). Improvement in all glycaemic parameters was significantly (p < .0001) higher in the insulin vs. the insulin-naïve subgroups; in the insulin-naïve subgroup, no statistical difference was noted in those who received >3 vs. ≤3 OADs. CONCLUSIONS: First-year trends of the LANDMARC study offer insights into real-world disease progression, suggesting the need for controlling risk factors and timely treatment intensification in people with T2DM.

Despite the availability of multiple therapeutic options and strategies, patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) the world over have inadequate glycaemic control and India is no exception. Patients with T2DM in India have benefitted from glucagon-like peptide-1 analogues similar to that of patients from other parts of the world. However, subcutaneous treatment with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) is limited by their injectable mode of administration. The present review highlights barriers to incretinisation with GLP-1RAs and the role of first-in-class oral semaglutide in the Indian context and provides guidance to physicians on its initiation and uses.

INTRODUCTION: Longitudinal data on progression, complications, and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) across India are scarce. LANDMARC (CTRI/2017/05/008452), the first pan-India, longitudinal, prospective, observational study, aims to understand the management and real-world outcomes of T2DM over 3 years. METHODS: Adults (≥25 to ≤60 years old at T2DM diagnosis; diabetes duration ≥2 years at enrollment; controlled/uncontrolled on ≥2 anti-diabetic agents) were enrolled. Baseline characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: Of the 6279 recruited participants, 6236 were eligible for baseline assessment (56.6% [n/N = 3528/6236] men; mean ± SD age: 52.1 ± 9.2 years, diabetes duration: 8.6 ± 5.6 years). mean ± SD HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and postprandial glucose values were 64 ± 17 mmol/mol (8.1 ± 1.6%), 142.8 ± 50.4 mg/dl, and 205.7 ± 72.3 mg/dl, respectively. Only 25.1% (n/N = 1122/6236) participants had controlled glycemia (HbA1c < 53 mmol/mol, <7%). Macrovascular and microvascular complications were prevalent in 2.3% (n/N = 145/6236) and 14.5% (n/N = 902/6236) participants, respectively. Among those with complications, non-fatal myocardial infarction (n/N = 74/145, 51.0%) and neuropathy (n/N = 737/902, 81.7%) were the most reported macrovascular and microvascular complication, respectively. Hypertension (n/N = 2566/3281, 78.2%) and dyslipidemia (n/N = 1635/3281, 49.8%) were the most reported cardiovascular risks. Majority (74.5%; n/N = 4643/6236) were taking oral anti-diabetic drugs (OADs) only, while 24.4% (n/N = 1522/6236) participants were taking OADs+insulin. Biguanides (n/N = 5796/6236, 92.9%) and sulfonylureas (n/N = 4757/6236, 76.3%) were the most reported OADs. Basal (n/N = 837/6236, 13.4%) and premix (n/N = 684/6236, 11.0%) insulins were the most reported insulins. CONCLUSIONS: Baseline data from LANDMARC help understand the clinical/medical profile of study participants and underscore the extent of suboptimal glycemic control and prevalence of associated complications in a vast majority of Indians with T2DM.

The expanding burden of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in today's world, with respect to incidence, prevalence, and cost incurred, is an existential risk to society. Various guidelines recommend individualization of treatment. This expert opinion aims to review the recent evidences and reach a consensus on the preferable combination therapy for use in newly diagnosed Indian T2DM patients with HbA1C >7.5%. The core committee included seventeen diabetes specialists. Three statements were developed, discussed, and rated by specialists and recommendations were noted. Specialists were requested to rate the statements using a 9-point Likert's scale with score of 1 being "Strongly Disagree" and 9 being "Strongly Agree". Statement-specific scores of all the specialists were added and mean score of ≥7.00 was considered to have achieved a consensus. Statements used to meet the consensus were: Statement 1. Majority of newly-diagnosed Indian diabetics have HbA1C >7.5%; Statement 2. Patients with HbA1C >7.5% may be initiated with dual therapy of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP4Is) + Metformin; and Statement 3. In Indian patients with HbA1C >7.5% at diagnosis, DPP4Is + Metformin may be considered as a first-line therapy. Literature review revealed that HbA1C level at the time of diagnosis in majority of Indian T2DM patients is >7.5%. Consensus was reached that dual anti-diabetic therapy should be initiated in patients with HbA1C >7.5%. DPP4Is + Metformin is the preferred cost-effective option and may be considered as a first-line therapy in Indian T2DM patients with HbA1C >7.5% at diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: We here report the demographic and clinical profile of the patients enrolled in the Indian Council of Medical Research funded Registry of people with diabetes in India with young age at onset (YDR) from 1 January 2000 to 31 July 2011. METHODS: The YDR registry recruits all diabetes cases (newly diagnosed or treated) reporting on or after 1 January 2000 with age of diagnosis ≤25 years, and residing within the assigned geographical area of the reporting centres. A baseline proforma was used to obtain information on demographic and clinical details at registration. RESULTS: The registry has enrolled 5546 patients (49.5% male; 50.5% female) with youth onset diabetes from 205 reporting centres linked to 8 regional collaborating centres (RCC) across India. T1DM (63.9%; n = 3545) and T2DM (25.3%; n = 1401) were the commonest variants of youth onset diabetes, though their relative proportion varied across RCCs. The mean (SD) age at diagnosis for T1DM was 12.9 (6.5) years, while that for T2DM was 21.7 (3.7) years. Nearly half the T1DM patients were registered within 6 months of the onset of disease. Most cases of T2DM (47.3%) were registered after 3 years from their date of diagnosis. 56.1% of patients had at least one episode of hospitalization at registration. CONCLUSION: The observations from YDR registry indicate the need to establish a surveillance system in India to monitor diabetes in youth, not only to understand its complex etiology and natural history but also due to its detrimental socio economic impact.

Diabetes mellitus is a global health concern associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Inadequate control of diabetes leads to chronic complications and higher mortality rates, which emphasizes the importance of achieving glycemic targets. Although glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is the gold standard for measuring glycemic control, it has several limitations. Therefore, in recent years, along with the emergence of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology, glycemic control modalities have moved beyond HbA1c. They encompass modern glucometrics, such as glycemic variability (GV) and time-in-range (TIR). The key advantage of these newer metrics over HbA1c is that they allow personalized diabetes management with person-centric glycemic control. Basal insulin analogues, especially second-generation basal insulins with properties such as longer duration of action and low risk of hypoglycemia, have demonstrated clinical benefits by reducing GV and improving TIR. Therefore, for more effective and accurate diabetes management, the development of an integrated approach with second-generation basal insulin and glucometrics involving GV and TIR is the need of the hour. With this objective, a multinational group of endocrinologists and diabetologists reviewed the existing recommendations on TIR, provided their clinical insights into the individualization of TIR targets, and elucidated on the role of the second-generation basal insulin analogues in addressing TIR.

AIM OF THE STUDY: To assess the level of knowledge and attitude on insulin therapy in patients with diabetes mellitus in a teaching hospital. OBJECTIVES: 1. To assess the level of knowledge and attitude on insulin therapy among patients with diabetes mellitus. 2. To find out the association between the knowledge and attitude on insulin therapy with the selected study variables. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a nonexperimental, cross-sectional study. A total of 100 participants were recruited from the outpatients and inpatients attending the department of general medicine and general surgery. Adult male and female with diabetes mellitus receiving insulin injection and willing to participate in the study were included in the study. The data was collected using 20 structured questionnaires to assess the level of knowledge and modified 4 point Likert scale was used, which contains 10 statements to assess the level of attitude on insulin therapy by interview method. RESULTS: It was observed from the results that the level of knowledge among the study participants was as follows: 4% of them had adequate knowledge, 44% had moderately adequate knowledge, and more than half (52%) of them had inadequate knowledge. The level of attitude among the study participants (27%) with diabetes mellitus had favorable attitude, more than half (69%) had moderately favorable attitude, and 4% had unfavorable attitude on insulin therapy. It is observed that there is no statistically significant correlation (r) =0.038, P = 0.707 between the level of knowledge and attitude on insulin therapy among patients with diabetes mellitus. CONCLUSION: This study showed that there was inadequate knowledge and unfavorable attitude among the diabetic patients regarding insulin therapy. The people with diabetes should receive ongoing need-based quality diabetic education by using innovative methods that is tailored to their needs, delivered by skilled healthcare providers.

The current diabetes management strategies not only aim at controlling glycaemic parameters but also necessitate continuous medical care along with multifactorial risk reduction through a comprehensive management concept. The sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are a group of evolving antidiabetic agents that have the potential to play a pivotal role in the comprehensive management of patients with diabetes due to their diverse beneficial effects. SGLT2i provide moderate glycaemic control, considerable body weight and blood pressure reduction, and thus have the ability to lower the risk of macrovascular and microvascular complications. Some of the unique characteristics associated with SGLT2i, such as reduction in body weight (more visceral fat mass loss than subcutaneous fat loss), reduction in insulin resistance and improvement in ß-cell function, as measured by homeostatic model assessment-ß (HOMA-ß) could be potentially beneficial and help in overcoming some of the challenges faced by Indian patients with diabetes. In addition, a patient-centric approach with individualised treatment during SGLT2i therapy is inevitable in order to reduce diabetic complications and improve quality of life. Despite their broad benefits profile, the risk of genital tract infections, volume depletion, amputations and diabetic ketoacidosis associated with SGLT2i should be carefully monitored. In this compendium, we systematically reviewed the literature from Medline, Cochrane Library, and other relevant databases and attempted to provide evidence-based recommendations for the positioning of SGLT2i in the management of diabetes in the Indian population.Funding: AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited.

Monte Carlo simulations performed on multiple polymer chains have produced accurate relaxation modulus Gs(t) curves which match the experimental G(t) curves of polystyrene reasonably well, over a wide temperature range around the glass transition region. The inter-segmental interactions, defined in terms of ε* (well depth) and σ (monomer size), exert a strong influence on the modulus, the length scale and the relaxation time scale of the system. Judicious selection of these interaction parameters has enabled us to create the whole range of temperature dependence of the thermorheological complexity, from ΔT = 40 °C to ΔT = 0 °C. Near the glass transition temperature, the development of nonergodicity vis-à-vis a crowding effect in the system emerges naturally from the analysis of the G(t) line shapes. The entropic slow mode is well described by the Rouse theory and the energetic fast mode shifts to longer time scales, revealing the generic behavior of the thermorheological complexity. Typical Gs(t) curves, when partitioned into glassy and rubbery components, are shown to obey Inoue-Okamoto-Osaki's modified stress-optical rule, with different stress-optical coefficients for each component. Closer to the glass transition temperature, the distance of the closest monomer shows a considerable increase, suggesting a penetrable resistance to the approach of another monomer. The parameter σ represents the characteristic length scale of the system in the glassy region. The thermorheological complexity incorporates the dynamic length scale of structural relaxation, increasing with the decrease of temperature towards the glass transition point.

Langevin dynamics simulations are performed to study the response of charged dendrimers in alternating current electric fields in 3:1 salt solutions. Time evolutions of molecular size show breathing characteristics which take saw-tooth-like patterns in square-wave electric fields and undulated sine-function ones in sine-wave fields. Detailed study reveals how the dendrimer and condensed ions oscillate in the electric fields, which result in polarization of the molecule. To effect a significant deformation of the dendrimer, the applied field amplitude must be larger than some critical strength Ecrit and the field frequency smaller than a threshold fcrit. The response behavior is characterized by two relaxation times in square-wave fields, both of which decrease linearly with the strong field strength larger than Ecrit. In sine-wave fields, the molecular size exhibits interesting hysteretic behavior in plotting the curves with the field variation. A Maxwell-Wagner type polarization theory is derived and proved by simulations, which connects fcrit with the strength of the applied electric field.

RESUMO

An unprecedented rise in diabetes mellitus (DM) prevalence in India is the outcome of lifestyle changes in the background of genetic predisposition. Moreover, there are substantial regional variations in diabetes prevalence and management. The highest prevalence of DM was observed in southern region (Ernakulum, Kerala) and lowest prevalence was observed in North Eastern region (Manipur). Similarly large variations have been evident in overall awareness and diabetes care across the geographies within India. The regional challenges are largely affected by poor disease awareness, socioeconomic disparity and underutilization of the public health-care services. Though government has taken initiatives to address this issue, overall situation demands a collaborative effort from patients, health care professionals and the state. An exhaustive literature search was performed for articles and studies published on electronic databases. Present article assesses the regional disparity of diabetes epidemiology, current management practices and government policies for T2DM in India, identifies policy and research gaps, and suggests corrective measures to address the lacunae in diabetes care.

The structural properties and electrophoretic mobility of charged dendrimers in 3:1 electrolyte solutions subjected to direct current electric fields are studied using molecular dynamics simulations. The simulated dendrimer size is studied in zero fields and found to scale as R(g) ∼ N(0.29). The dendrimers exhibit shape distortions when the applied electric field is larger than some critical value, which scales with the number of dendrimer monomers as E(z,crit) ∼ N(0.39(6)). Families of curves, such as the curves of the square of radius of gyration, the asphericity, the degree of prolateness, and the electrophoretic mobility of dendrimers, are shown to collapse to single, master curves in electric fields through appropriate scaling. This reflects the fractal characteristics of these systems. The density profile of the surface monomers and salt cations reveals two pronounced combination effects between the polarization of dendrimer complexes and stripping-off of the condensed salt cations from the dendrimer surface.

BACKGROUND: The rising prevalence of diabetes and obesity in India can be attributed, at least in part, to increasing levels of physical inactivity. However, there has been no nationwide survey in India on physical activity levels involving both the urban and rural areas in whole states of India. The aim of the present study was to assess physical activity patterns across India - as part of the Indian Council of Medical Research-India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB) study. METHODS: Phase 1 of the ICMR-INDIAB study was conducted in four regions of India (Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Chandigarh representing the south, west, east and north of India respectively) with a combined population of 213 million people. Physical activity was assessed using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) in 14227 individuals aged ≥ 20 years [urban- 4,173; rural- 10,054], selected from the above regions using a stratified multistage design. RESULTS: Of the 14227 individuals studied, 54.4% (n=7737) were inactive (males: 41.7%), while 31.9% (n=4537) (males: 58.3%) were active and 13.7% (n=1953) (males: 61.3%) were highly active. Subjects were more inactive in urban, compared to rural, areas (65.0% vs. 50.0%; p<0.001). Males were significantly more active than females (p<0.001). Subjects in all four regions spent more active minutes at work than in the commuting and recreation domains. Absence of recreational activity was reported by 88.4%, 94.8%, 91.3% and 93.1% of the subjects in Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Tamilnadu respectively. The percentage of individuals with no recreational activity increased with age (Trend χ(2): 199.1, p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The study shows that a large percentage of people in India are inactive with fewer than 10% engaging in recreational physical activity. Therefore, urgent steps need to be initiated to promote physical activity to stem the twin epidemics of diabetes and obesity in India.

RESUMO

Metformin is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It has been in use for almost five decades. Now, pharmacological properties of this agent are being exapted for use in a number of other indications. New facets of its personality are coming up, generating more interest of the scientific community in this "middle-aged" molecule. This article explores the role of metformin in cardioprotection and its hepatoprotective properties. Nephroprotective, protection against excess body fat and gonadoprotective actions, properties have also been discussed. Additionally, this manuscript briefly reviews the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)-lowering properties in diabetic and non-diabetic patients, besides reviewing its actions on different types of cancers. Some of these actions may become approved indications for use of metformin following generation of new evidence. Metformin still has many unexplored dimensions that deserve further exploration.

Solvent mixtures often alter the solubility of polymeric substances. Statistical copolymers made from 2-methyl-2-oxazoline (MeOx) and 2-phenyl-2-oxazoline (PhOx) are known for their varying solubilities in pure ethanol, pure water and in binary mixtures of ethanol-water. Constrained Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations have been carried out with an aim to explain the varying solubilities of the statistical MeOx-PhOx copolymers. The solute-solvent dynamic friction kernels calculated through constrained MD simulations corroborate the solubility pattern in these copolymers. The solvation characteristics have been analyzed in terms of the solute-solvent radial distribution functions (RDFs). The ethanol-soluble MeOx-PhOx copolymers exhibit characteristic solute-composition dependence in the dynamic solute-solvent friction kernels, indicating the strength of the solute-solvent correlations. The aggressive solvation by the ethanol molecules in the binary solvent mixtures has been brought out by the O(solute)-H(ethanol) RDFs which exhibit a characteristic dependence on the ethanol content in the solvent composition. The corresponding O(solute)-H(water) RDFs are devoid of any such composition dependence. For all the MeOx-PhOx copolymers, the O-site solvation is strongly dominated by the water molecules and the N-sites are solvated equally by both ethanol and water molecules.
