RESUMO

Patient treated by dialysis for end-stage renal disease are at increased risk of many cancers, especially those of kidney and urinary tract. A 56 years old man who undergoing chronic dialysis, presented in ultrasonography a 2 cm complex cystic mass in the left kidney what was confirmed by computed tomography and magnetic resonance. A laparoscopic left nephrectomy was performed. Histological examination showed a low grade collecting duct carcinoma of the kidney. An infrequent variant of kidney tumor.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the impact of the use of the double J stent in the incidence of urological complications, like fistula urinary and ureteral obstruction in kidney transplants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between August 2003 and December 2005, 59 adult recipients underwent renal transplant. A retrospective study was conducted on two groups of patients: Group A with double J stent and group B without it. We reviewed the urological complications: fistula, ureteral obstruction and urinary tract infection. RESULTS: Group A: One ureteral obstruction and two urinary fistulas (7%) were developed in this group. 13 patients (46%) had a positive urinary culture. In only one case was necessary to retire the double J stent because of ureteral obstruction. Group B: Four patients (13%) developed ureteral obstruction and another five (16%) developed urinary fistula. 9 patients (29%) had a positive urinary culture. CONCLUSION: The routine insertion of a double J stent in kidney transplants reduces the number of early complications urinary fistula and ureteral obstructions.

RESUMO

The present article reports a case of intrascrotal metastasis of renal adenocarcinoma. This is an unusual case. A 66-year-old male patient undewent right radical nephrectomy and cavotomy for renal cell carcinoma with renal vein infiltration and thrombus in cava. Six months later the patient present with a nodulous enlargement intrascrotal and roots of penis. And he died 15 moths after nephrectomy. Usually intrascrotal metastases are a late event in the course after detection of a renal carcinoma.

RESUMO

We report a case of atypical renal angiomyolipoma (AML) because of its clinic presentation like colic renal pain, its uncommon intrasinusal location, its low fatty content, and especially because of the diagnostic doubt with a renal artery aneurysm that could not be resolved before the surgery in spite of making Doppler ultrasound, renal one sided arteriography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We gave up doing a percutaneous needle biopsy because of the location, the association with hematoma and the possibility of a vascular origin. It has been said that diagnostic images, mainly ultrasound and CT, have a high capacity to get a renal AML diagnosis before the surgery. However when there is an atypical characteristics association like we have talked about, dismissing other pathologies is necessary. We believe AML must be considered one of these because of its difficult differential diagnosis.

RESUMO

The association of tuberculosis and renal adenocarcinoma is very uncommon. In general, the condition presents clinically, radiologically and biologically, as a tuberculosis while the diagnosis of renal carcinoma came as a pathoanatomical finding following nephrectomy. We contribute one case report of tuberculosis and renal adenocarcinoma in association that initially presented with tumoral signs and symptoms in a 34-year-old female patient. The patient, with no previous background, was later diagnosed TBC. A review is made on the pathogenesis, epidemiology and pathoanatomical diagnosis of tuberculosis. It is hypothesized that the tuberculosis damage may be a reactivation secondary to a renal tumour.

RESUMO

Psoas abscess is an uncommon condition at the present time. The initial anodyne signs and symptoms make diagnosis difficult. It can be diagnosed and rated as primary when the origin is not found, or secondary when a focus for infection spreading is detected. Drainage either percutaneously or by open surgery, and antibiotic therapy are the choice treatment, achieving an important survival rate. This paper presents a new case of psoas abscess, including a revision of the diagnosis and treatment of this condition.

RESUMO

Epidermoid cysts are benign tumours that can affect testicles. Incidence is rare, having been described until now in less than 200 cases. Contribution of one study case of testicular epidermoid cyst and discussion of issues on histogenesis, ultrasound diagnosis and therapy approaches.

RESUMO

In spite of being the most frequent benign tumour of the spermatic cord, absolute frequency of this neoplasia is very low. We discuss here a case report of an spermatic cord lipoma with several years evolution. Although ultrasound is useful for clinical diagnosis, exploratory scrototomy and surgical exeresis of the mass is the only reliable diagnosis and viable treatment.
