RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Early cardiac rehabilitation plays a crucial role in the recovery of patients with ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (STEMI) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study sought to determine the effect of a program of sitting Baduanjin exercises on early cardiac rehabilitation. OBJECTIVE: The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of sitting Baduanjin exercises on cardiovascular and psychosocial functions in patients with STEMI following PCI. METHODS: This quasi-experimental study employed a randomized, non-equivalent group design. Patients in the intervention group received daily sitting Baduanjin training in addition to a series of seven-step rehabilitation exercises, whereas those in the control group received only the seven-step rehabilitation training, twice daily. Differences in heart rate variability (HRV) indicators, exercise capacity (Six-Minute Walking Distance; 6-MWD), anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7; GAD-7), and depression (Patient Health Questionnaire-9; PHQ-9) between the two study groups during hospitalization were analyzed. RESULTS: Patients in the intervention group exhibited lower rates of abnormalities in the time domain and frequency domain parameters of HRV. The median scores of GAD-7 and PHQ-9 in both groups were lower than those at the time of admission, with the intervention group exhibiting lower scores than the control group (P < 0.001; P < 0.001, respectively). The 6-MWD after the intervention was greater in the intervention group compared to the control group (P = 0.014). CONCLUSIONS: We found that sitting Baduanjin training has the potential to enhance HRV, cardiac function, and psychological well-being in patients with STEMI after PCI. This intervention can potentially improve the exercise capacity of a patient before discharge.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: As a new technique developed in recent years, bronchoscopic intervention therapy has the advantages of minimal invasion, high safety and repeatability. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical characteristics of bronchopleural fistula (BPF) induced by surgeries for lung malignancies or benign diseases and the effect of bronchoscopic intervention therapy for BPF, so as to provide support for prevention and treatment of BPF. METHODS: Data 64 patients with BPF who were treated by bronchoscopic intervention in Respiratory Disease Center of Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from June 2020 to September 2023 were collected. Patients with fistula diameter ≤5 mm were underwent submucous injection of macrogol, combined with blocking therapy with N-butyl cyanoacrylate, medical bioprotein glue or silicone prosthesis. Patients with fistula diameter >5 mm were implanted with different stents and cardiac occluders. Locations and characteristics of fistulas were summarized, meanwhile, data including Karnofsky performance status (KPS), shortbreath scale (SS), body temperature, pleural drainage volume and white blood cell count before and after operation were observed. RESULTS: For all 64 patients, 96 anatomic lung resections including pneumonectomy, lobectomy and segmentectomy were executed and 74 fistulas occurred in 65 fistula locations. The proportion of fistula in the right lung (63.5%) was significantly higher than that in the left (36.5%). Besides, the right inferior lobar bronchial fistula was the most common (40.5%). After operation, KPS was significantly increased, while SS, body temperature, pleural drainage volume and white blood cell count were significantly decreased compared to the preoperative values (P<0.05). By telephone follow-up or readmission during 1 month to 38 months after treament, median survival time was 21 months. 33 patients (51.6%) showed complete response, 7 patients (10.9%) showed complete clinical response, 18 patients (28.1%) showed partial response, and 6 patients (9.4%) showed no response. As a whole, the total effective rate of bronchoscopic intervention for BPF was 90.6%. CONCLUSIONS: BPF induced by pulmonary surgery can lead to severe symptoms and it is usually life-threating. Bronchoscopic intervention therapy is one of the fast and effective therapeutic methods for BPF.

RESUMO

Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is a rare and highly malignant tumor, which includes the following five pathologic types: pleomorphic carcinoma, spindle cell carcinoma, giant cell carcinoma, carcinosarcoma and pulmonary blastoma. The onset of PSC is occult with non-specific clinical symptoms and signs. The clinical manifestations include irritating cough, bloody sputum, dyspnea, chest pain and so on, which are closely related to the growth and invasion site of the tumor. PSC tends to metastasize early, so most patients are already in local advanced stage or advanced stage with a median survival of 9 months at the time of hospital visit. A patient with primary PSC which led to 90% stenosis in central airway was treated by combined method of vascular and tracheoscopic intervention in our respiratory center. This treatment prolonged the patient's survival time and got a satisfactory effect at 19-month follow-up after surgery. Herein we report the case for clinical reference.

RESUMO

Multidrug resistance (MDR) poses a significant impediment to the efficacy of chemotherapy in clinical settings. Despite Paclitaxel (PTX) being designated as the primary pharmaceutical agent for treating recurrent and metastatic breast cancer, the emergence of PTX resistance frequently results in therapeutic shortcomings, representing a substantial obstacle in clinical breast cancer management. In response, we developed a delivery system exhibiting dual specificity for both tumors and mitochondria. This system facilitated the sequential administration of small interfering B-cell lymphoma-2 (siBcl-2) and PTX to the tumor cytoplasm and mitochondria, respectively, with the aim of surmounting PTX resistance in tumor cells through the activation of the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. Notably, we employed genetic engineering techniques to fabricate a recombinant ferritin containing the H-subunit (HFn), known for its tumor-targeting capabilities, for loading siBcl-2. This HFn-siBcl-2 complex was then combined with positively charged Triphenylphosphine-Liposome@PTX (TL@PTX) nanoparticles (NPs) to formulate HFn/siBcl-2@TL/PTX. Guided by HFn, these nanoparticles efficiently entered cells and released siBcl-2 through the action of triphenylphosphine (TPP)-mediated "proton sponge," thereby precisely modulating the expression of Bcl-2 protein. Simultaneously, PTX was directed to the mitochondria through the accurate targeting of TL@PTX, synergistically initiating the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway and effectively suppressing PTX resistance both in vitro and in vivo. In conclusion, the development of this dual-targeting delivery system presents a promising therapeutic strategy for overcoming PTX resistance in the clinical treatment of breast cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Sepsis patients have a high mortality rate and are frequently anemic. The importance of early detection and blood transfusion treatment cannot be overstated. OBJECTIVE: A systematic review and meta-analysis of published literature was conducted to evaluate the association between hemoglobin and the prognosis of patients with sepsis. METHODS: The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Chinese Biomedical Literature (CBM) databases were searched from inception to May 21, 2023. Pediatric patients were excluded, and there were no language restrictions. A random effects model was used to calculate pooled odds ratios to assess the relationship between hemoglobin and prognosis in sepsis. RESULTS: There were 110,004 patients included in 9 studies, of which 51,568 had a poor prognosis. The results of univariate and multivariate analyzes showed that hemoglobin was associated with the prognosis of patients with sepsis (univariate OR: 1.35, 95 % confidence interval (CI): 1.16-1.58; multivariate OR: 1.26, 95 % CI: 1.13-1.40). Dose-response meta-analysis showed that there was a nonlinear relationship between hemoglobin level and prognosis in patients with sepsis. CONCLUSION: The level of hemoglobin at admission is related to the prognosis of patients with sepsis, and decreases in hemoglobin level are associated with an increase in the mortality rate of patients with sepsis. Therefore, early transfusion of red blood cells should be performed in patients with sepsis, and early attention should be given to anemia in patients with sepsis. However, more robust studies are needed to further determine the level of early hemoglobin maintenance in patients with sepsis.

RESUMO

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a common cardiovascular pathology that induces extensive sterile inflammation during its early stages, posing a severe threat to human health. Effectively modulating cardiac inflammation may improve post-MI outcomes. Unfortunately, owing to the side effects of therapeutic drugs and cardiac coronary artery occlusion, current MI drugs are sub-optimal for the clinical management of ischemic myocardia. Sulforaphane (SFN) has been adopted for MI treatment due to its myocardial protective effects and low toxicity. However, the targeted accumulation of SFN in infarcted areas remains challenging. Herein, porous magnetic silica nanoparticles (PMSNs) were synthesized and loaded with SFN to improve the specificity of targeted SFN delivery to infarcted areas in mouse models of MI. PMSNs loaded with SFN (PMSNs + SFN) decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thus leading to the improvement of cardiac function and cell survival without adverse effects. To further explore SFN's mechanisms of action in MI, a cellular (in vitro) model was established via oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD). HSF1 and Nrf2 knockdown resulted in a decrease of SFN-induced HSP70 expression in OGD cells. Moreover, as a result of HSP70 knockdown, the pro-survival and anti-inflammatory effects of SFN were blocked in OGD cells. The level of pro-inflammatory cytokines decreased upon HSP70 overexpression, and cell survival rate increased under OGD conditions. In summary, the results confirm that PMSNs are capable of transporting SFN to infarcted areas in the myocardium, where the drug exerts cardioprotective effects against myocardial injury by up-regulating HSP70 through Nrf2/HSF1.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The studies of the effect of diabetes on the stiffness of Achilles tendon (AT) tissue remain inconclusive, we believe it is necessary to find a reliable method which can be used to detect the stiffness changes of the AT in the diabetic state. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of sound touch elastography (STE) as a tool for detecting diabetic Achilles tendinopathy. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of 180 participants, consisting of 82 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and 98 healthy adults, who had undergone AT ultrasonography. Young 's modulus (E) values of the distal, middle, and proximal segments of bilateral ATs of all participants were measured using STE technique. The E values of each AT segment between the case and control group were compared. RESULTS: The E values of the three segments of ATs in T2DM patients were lower than the healthy controls (P < 0.05). In both groups, the E values of the distal segments were lower than those of the middle segments, and the latter were lower than those of the proximal segments (P < 0.05). The E value of each segment of AT was inversely related to FPG, HbA1c, and diabetes duration (P < 0.05). The best cut-off points for the E values of the three segments of the AT for detecting diabetic tendinopathy were 347.44 kPa (AUC, 0.779), 441.57 kPa (AUC, 0.692), and 484.35 kPa (AUC, 0.676), respectively. CONCLUSION: STE can be used as a complementary diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of diabetic Achilles tendinopathy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Currently, a paramount issue in nursing education is to motivate nursing undergraduate interns to develop self-directed learning skills and improve their practice satisfaction and professional identity, so as to meet the growing demands in healthcare. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a motivational programme based on the Existence-Relatedness-Growth (ERG) theory in developing self-directed learning skills, improving practice satisfaction and promoting the professional identity of nursing undergraduate interns in China. DESIGN: A quasi-experimental study design. SETTING: A government-funded tertiary teaching hospital in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China. METHODS: This study was conducted with 99 nursing undergraduate interns in a hospital between June 2020 and April 2022. The interns in the experimental group (n = 50) participated in the motivational programme based on ERG theory, while those in the control group (n = 49) underwent a traditional training programme. The interns in the two groups were compared in terms of their degree of self-directed learning, practice satisfaction and professional identity after the training, using independent samples t-test. RESULTS: After the internship, interns in the experimental group showed a statistically significantly higher level of self-directed learning and practice satisfaction than those in the control group (p < 0.05). However, no significant difference was observed in professional identity between the two groups after the internship. CONCLUSIONS: The motivational programme based on ERG theory was shown to be effective in improving self-directed learning and practice satisfaction in nursing undergraduate interns. A large-scale randomized controlled trial is warranted to confirm the results.

RESUMO

Systematic codes are of important practical interest for communications. Network coding, however, seems to conflict with systematic codes: although the source node can transmit message packets, network coding at the intermediate network nodes may significantly reduce the number of message packets received by the destination node. Is it possible to obtain the benefit of network coding while preserving some properties of the systematic codes? In this paper, we study the systematic design of batched network coding, which is a general network coding framework that includes random linear network coding as a special case. A batched network code has an outer code and an inner code, where the latter is formed by linear network coding. A systematic batched network code must take both the outer code and the inner code into consideration. Based on the outer code of a BATS code, which is a matrix-generalized fountain code, we propose a general systematic outer code construction that achieves a low encoding/decoding computation cost. To further reduce the number of random trials required to search a code with a close-to-optimal coding overhead, a triangular embedding approach is proposed for the construction of the systematic batches. We introduce new inner codes that provide protection for the systematic batches during transmission and show that it is possible to significantly increase the expected number of message packets in a received batch at the destination node, without harm to the expected rank of the batch transfer matrix generated by network coding.

RESUMO

Group B Coxsackieviruses (CVB) are non-enveloped small RNA viruses in the genus Enterovirus, family Picornaviridae. CVB infection causes diverse conditions from common cold to myocarditis, encephalitis, and pancreatitis. No specific antiviral is available for the treatment of CVB infection. Anisomycin, a pyrrolidine-containing antibiotic and translation inhibitor, was reported to inhibit the replication of some picornaviruses. However, it is unknown if anisomycin can act as an antiviral against CVB infection. Here we observed that anisomycin showed potent inhibition on CVB type 3 (CVB3) infection with negligible cytotoxicity when applied at the early stage of virus infection. Mice infected with CVB3 showed markedly alleviated myocarditis with reduced viral replication. We found that CVB3 infection significantly increased the transcription of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha 1 (eEF1A1). CVB3 replication was suppressed by EEF1A1 knockdown, while elevated by EEF1A1 overexpression. Similar to the effect of CVB3 infection, EEF1A1 transcription was increased in response to anisomycin treatment. However, eEF1A1 protein level was decreased with anisomycin treatment in a dose-dependent manner in CVB3-infected cells. Moreover, anisomycin promoted eEF1A1 degradation, which was inhibited by the treatment of chloroquine but not MG132. We demonstrated that eEF1A1 interacted with the heat shock cognate protein 70 (HSP70), and eEF1A1 degradation was inhibited by LAMP2A knockdown, implicating that eEF1A1 is degraded through chaperone-mediated autophagy. Taken together, we demonstrated that anisomycin, which inhibits CVB replication through promoting the lysosomal degradation of eEF1A1, could be a potential antiviral candidate for the treatment of CVB infection.

RESUMO

The primary aim of the current study was to probe the longitudinal relationships between family dysfunction (FD) and adolescent Internet addiction (IA), as well as the group difference between only child and non-only child. Data were from a three-wave longitudinal data of 1301 Chinese adolescents, collected when adolescents were at Grade 7, Grade 8, and Grade 9. FD and IA were assessed via adolescent self-reported questionaries of Chinese Family Assessment Instrument and Internet Addiction Test. Cross-lagged panel model was constructed to estimate possible associations between FD and adolescent IA after controlling for demographic variables. Our results suggest that adolescents might get stuck in a vicious cycle of dysfunctional family and addictive Internet use: adolescents who lived in a dysfunctional family showed increased risk in IA in the subsequent year; in turn, adolescent IA further increased the possibility of FD. Moreover, multigroup comparison analysis revealed that the vicious cycle between FD and adolescent IA could be applied to both the only child and the non-only child. The findings may enrich the application of the Developmental Contextualism Theory and contribute to the identification of the starting points for intervention strategies of adolescent IA.

RESUMO

In this study, we investigated the effect of type 1 diabetes mellitus on the modulation of the activities of CYP450s in dynamics by a UHPLC-MS/MS method. The diabetic rat model was constructed by an intraperitoneal single injection of streptozotocin. Fasting blood glucose levels > 16.7 mmol/L were considered as diabetic. The rats were given a cocktail of four probe drugs (10 mg/kg phenacetin, 1 mg/kg tolbutamide, 10 mg/kg metoprolol, and 10 mg/kg midazolam) by oral administration for the pharmacokinetic study. Thereafter, the metabolic ratio (MR) of the metabolites to probe substrates were determined. The results indicated that two weeks after diabetes was induced, diabetes increased the MRs of acetaminophen/phenacetin (CYP1A2) and 4-hydroxyl tolbutamide/tolbutamide (CYP2C9); however, it decreased the MRs of α-hydroxy metoprolol/metoprolol (CYP2D6) and 1-hydroxy midazolam/midazolam (CYP3A4). Two months after diabetes was induced, diabetes increased the MRs of acetaminophen/phenacetin and 4-hydroxyl tolbutamide/tolbutamide. The MR of α-hydroxy metoprolol/metoprolol was decreased and the MR of 1-hydroxy midazolam/midazolam was increased but the difference was not significant. According to the results, CYP1A2 and CYP2C9 activities were enhanced in the diabetic rats. and CYP2D6 activity was inhibited in a short period of diabetes; however, the decrease in CYP2D6 activity was not significant in the long period. CYP3A4 activity was decreased in a short period of diabetes and increased in a long period of diabetes but was not significant in the two periods. This study suggests the activity change rule of the CYP450 enzyme system in diabetes mellitus, which can provide a reference for precise clinical medication.

RESUMO

The Notch signaling pathway is an important regulator in fate decisions and immune responses of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs). However, the function of Notch signaling in ILCs in acute coronary syndrome is still not fully elucidated. Thirty-one unstable angina pectoris (UAP) patients, 21 acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients, and 20 controls were included in this study. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated. The mRNA expression levels of Notch receptors and ligands were measured by real-time PCR, while ILC subsets were measured by flow cytometry. Lin- cells were purified and stimulated with γ-secretase inhibitor (GSI). ILC subsets, transcription factors, and secreted cytokines were assessed. Notch receptor and ligand mRNA levels were elevated in PBMCs and peripheral lin- cells from AMI patients. There was no significant difference in total lin-CD45+CD161+CD127+ ILC frequency among three groups. The CRTH2-CD117- ILC1 subset was down-regulated, while the CRTH2+ ILC2 subset was up-regulated in AMI patients. The CRTH2-CD117+ ILC3 subpopulation was comparable among the three groups. ILC1% was negatively correlated with Notch1 and Notch2 in AMI patients. Inhibition of Notch signaling pathway by GSI induced elevations in ILC1 frequency, T-bet mRNA expression, and interferon-γ secretion and reduced ILC2 frequency, GATA3 mRNA levels, and interleukin-5/interleukin-13 production by lin- cells from AMI patients. The current data indicated that activation of Notch signaling pathway might contribute to ILC1-to-ILC2 shift in peripheral blood in AMI patients.

RESUMO

Superior strong and tough structural materials are highly desirable in engineering applications. However, it remains a big challenge to combine these two mutually exclusive mechanical properties into one body. In the work, an ultrastrong and tough cellulosic material was fabricated by a two-step process of delignification and water molecule-induced hydrogen bonding under compression. The strong and tough cellulosic material showed enhanced tensile strength (352 MPa vs. 56 MPa for natural wood) and toughness (4.1 MJ m-3 vs. 0.42 MJ m-3 for natural wood). The mechanical behaviors of ultrastrong and tough bulk material in a tensile state were simulated by finite element analysis (FEA) using mechanical parameters measured in the experiment. FEA results showed that the tensile strength and toughness gradually simultaneously improved with the increase in moisture content, demonstrating that water molecules played an active role in fabricating strong and tough materials, by plasticizing and forming hydrogen bonding among cellulose nanofibrils.

RESUMO

Biodegradable mulches (BDMs) are considered promising alternative green materials to achieve the substitution of polythene (PE) films to reduce plastic pollution. However, whether the BDMs are sufficiently effective to promote cotton production as PE film is a controversial topic. In this study, laboratory determination and field experiments were conducted with one pure Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) film (BDM), two commercial PBAT-based films (BDM1 and BDM2), and one PE film to (ⅰ) compare the degradation behavior, morphology, and property changes during field application, and (ⅱ) reveal their effects on biomass accumulation and cotton yield. Degradation behavior, degradation rate, structure, thermal stability, crystallinity, and molecular weight changes of the films before and after mulching were investigated and characterized. Water vapor transmission rate and mechanical properties of the films and the effects these on soil temperature, crop growth, and cotton yield were discussed. Results show that the three PBAT-based mulch films gradually degraded during mulching. The molecular weight, thermal stability, and crystallinity of BDM1 and BDM2 decreased. Interestingly, BDM showed the opposite characteristics, but the degradation degree was greatest at harvest. PE film showed no significant changes in its microscopic appearance, thermal performance, or properties. These PBAT-based films were positively correlated with the complete coverage period of the films. In-depth studies focused on BDMs with a longer mulching period must be developed to promote the substitution of BDMs into PE to reduce the residual mulch pollution in cotton fields.

RESUMO

Electromagnetic cooperative strategy has been presented as a mainstream approach that can effectively optimize the matching thickness of dielectric loss dominant system. However, it is still challenging for dielectric-magnetic loss coexisting-type absorber to develop electromagnetic wave (EMW) performance with ultra-low matching thickness (≤ 1 mm). Breaking the limitation of traditional electromagnetic response at microscopic/mesoscopic scale, a ficus microcarpa-like magnetic aerogel with macroscopical electromagnetic cooperative effect was fabricated through highly oriented self-assembly engineering. The highly oriented Ni chains with unique macroscopic morphology (~ 1 cm in length) were achieved via a special magnetic field-induced growth. Strong magnetic coupling was observed in the Ni chains confirmed by the micromagnetic simulation. The deductive calculation validates that maintaining high value of electromagnetic parameters at high frequencies is the prerequisites of ultrathin absorber. The electromagnetic cooperative networks with uninterrupted and dual pathways spread through the entire aerogel skeleton, resulting in the impressive permittivity even at high frequencies. Consequently, the aerogel exhibits a remarkable EMW performance at an ultrathin thickness of 1 mm. Thus, based on the modulation of electromagnetic parameters, this work proposed a macroscopic ordered structure with the electromagnetic cooperative effect useful to develop a suitable strategy for achieving ultrathin EMW absorbers.

RESUMO

With the progressive requirements of modern electronics, outstanding electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials are extensively desirable to protect intelligent electronic equipment against EMI radiation under various conditions, while integrating functional applications. So far, it remains a great challenge to effectively construct thin films with diversiform frameworks as integrated shielding devices. To simultaneously promote electromagnetic waves (EMWs) attenuation and construct integrated multifunction, an alternating-layered deposition strategy is designed to fabricate polydimethylsiloxane packaged N-doped MXene (Ti3CNTx)/graphene oxide wrapped hollow carbon fiber/silver nanowire films (p-LMHA) followed by annealing and encapsulation approaches. Contributed by the synergistic effect of consecutively conductive networks and porous architectures, LMHA films exhibit satisfying EMI shielding effectiveness of 73.2 dB at a thickness of 11 µm, with a specific EMI shielding effectiveness of 31 150.1 dB·cm2·g-1. Benefiting from the encapsulation, p-LMHA films further impart hydrophobicity and reliability against harsh environments. Besides, p-LMHA devices integrate a rapid-response behavior of the electro/photothermal and, meanwhile, function as a healthcare monitoring sensor. Therefore, it is believed that the p-LMHA films assembled by independent conductive networks with reliability offer a facile solution for practical multimodular protection of devices with integration characteristics.

RESUMO

The rational construction of microstructure and composition with enhanced Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars effect (MWSE) is still a challenging direction for reinforcing electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption performance, and the related EMW attenuation mechanism has rarely been elucidated. Herein, MWSE boosted ß-chitin/carbon nano-onions/Ni-P composites is prepared according to the heterointerface engineering strategy via facile layer-by-layer electrostatic assembly and electroless plating techniques. The heterogeneous interface is reinforced from the aspect of porous skeleton, nanomaterials and multilayer construction. The composites exhibit competitive EMW response mechanism between the conductive loss and the polarization/magnetic loss, as describing like the story of "The Hare and the Tortoise". As a result, the composites not only achieve a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of - 50.83 dB and an effective bandwidth of 6.8 GHz, but also present remarkable EMW interference shielding effectiveness of 66.66 dB. In addition, diverse functions such as good thermal insulation, infrared shielding and photothermal performance were also achieved in the hybrid composites as a result of intrinsic morphology and chemicophysics properties. Therefore, we believe that the boosted MWSE open up a novel orientation toward developing multifunctional composites with high-efficient EMW response and thermal management.

RESUMO

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury poses a significant threat to human health. High level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and calcium overload are the foremost causes of myocardial damage in I/R. Sulforaphane (SFN) is known for its promising antioxidant effect. Whether or not SFN has myocardial protective effect against I/R is largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate if SFN can protect myocardium from I/R injury. We found that mice or cells pre-treated with SFN showed improved cardiac functions and cell survival. SFN treatment inhibited the production of inflammatory cytokines and the increase of intracellular calcium induced by hypoxia-reperfusion (H/R), while mitochondria membrane potential was effectively maintained. Transcriptome analysis showed that CaMKIIδ expression was down-regulated by SFN treatment in I/R myocardium, while CaMKIIN2, the inhibitor of CaMKII, was upregulated. Knockdown of CaMKIIN2 not only led to increased level of total CaMKIIδ and the phosphorylated CaMKIIδ but also blocked the pro-survival effect of SFN for H/R cells. Moreover, CaMKIIN2 overexpression was sufficient to suppress CaMKIIδ activation and improve cell survival under H/R. Taken together, this study demonstrated that SFN exerts cardioprotective effect toward I/R injury through upregulating CaMKIIN2 and down-regulating CaMKIIδ.

RESUMO

Analyzing the coupling relationship between biodiversity and environmental geology and exploring the factors affecting the coupling degree are of vital significance for the protection and restoration of the ecological environment. In this study, we selected five typical areas (i.e., Caohai, Chishui, Fanjingshan, Maolan, and Guanshanhu) to represent the whole Guizhou Province, China. Based on the coupling coordination degree model, we analyzed their coupling coordination trend. The results showed that the coordinated development stages of the Chishui and Fanjingshan areas both could be categorized as the synchronous development type of primary coordination because of their excellent nature conditions; the Maolan area was categorized as having restrained environmental geology because of its weak environmental geology condition; and the Guanshanhu and Weining areas were strongly affected by human activities, and both could be categorized as having restrained biodiversity. In combination with practical situation, Guizhou province can be categorized into the following three zones: an original ecological zone, a zone with fragile ecological environment, and a zone affected by human activities. Biodiversity conservation measures should be proposed according to the specific ecological situation of these different zones. In this way, the harmonious coexistence of economic development and the ecological environment can be realized.
