RESUMO

The Lycium barbarum branches and leaves (LBL) are known to contain a range of active substances that have positive effects on animal immunity and antioxidation. This study aimed to examine how LBL impacts the growth and slaughter performance as well as rumen fermentation and microbiota in Hu sheep. A total of 50 male Hu sheep of indigenous origin, aged 3 months, were randomly divided into 5 groups of 10 sheep each. The groups were given different levels of LBL supplementation (0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12%) to evaluate growth performance and nutrient apparent digestibility. Rumen fluid samples were collected for analysis of the fermentation parameters and rumen chyme was examined to study the rumen microbiota. The slaughter performance, meat quality, and organ index were evaluated at the conclusion of the experiment. The results showed that the final body weight and average daily gain of the LBL1 group were significantly higher than those of the CON group, LBL3 group, and LBL4 group (p < 0.05). The average dry matter intake of the LBL4 group was significantly lower than that of other experimental groups (p < 0.05). The apparent digestibility of CP in the LBL1 and LBL2 groups was higher than that in other experimental groups (p < 0.05). At the same time, the eye muscle area and grade-rule (GR) value of Hu sheep in the LBL1 group significantly increased and the quality of Hu sheep meat improved (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in organ weight and organ index between the experimental groups (p > 0.05). The pH of the rumen fluid in the LBL1 group was significantly lower than that in the CON group (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the NH3-N content between the experimental groups (p > 0.05). The propionate and valerate in the rumen fluid of Hu sheep in the LBL2 group were significantly higher than those in other experimental groups (p < 0.05). In addition, this had no significant effect on the structure and abundance of the rumen microbiota (p > 0.05). LBL is a promising functional feed. Adding an appropriate amount of LBL to the diet can improve the feed efficiency, growth performance, and meat quality of Hu sheep but has no adverse effects on the rumen. In this experiment, the appropriate supplemental level of LBL in the diet was 3%.

RESUMO

In this study, activated carbon (WS-AC) was prepared from walnut shell. Nano-zero-valent iron (nZVI) was loaded on walnut shell activated carbon by liquid phase reduction method and used as catalyst (WS-AC/nZVI) to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to efficiently degrade tetracycline (TC) in solution. The composite material with a mass ratio of WS-AC to nZVI of 1:1 has the highest catalytic performance for activating PMS to degrade TC. The results showed that under the conditions of TC concentration of 100 ppm, PMS dosage of 0.2 mM and WS-AC/nZVI dosage of 0.1 g/L, the removal efficiency of TC could reach 81%. Based on quenching experiments and electron spin resonance (EPR), it was verified that •OH, SO4•- and 1O2 bound on the catalyst surface were the main reactive oxygen species during the reaction. The intermediate products of TC were identified by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) and DFT calculation, and the possible degradation pathway of TC was proposed. The catalyst still maintained high removal efficiency of TC after four cycles of experiments, and the minimal iron loss on the surface of the catalyst indicated that it had good stability. The efficient and stable WS-AC/nZVI activated PMS showed great potential in the degradation of antibiotics.

RESUMO

This study established an integrated loach-plant-substrate-microbes non-aerated saturated vertical flow constructed wetlands (VFCWs) to enhance pollutants removal efficiencies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions simultaneously. The results of the VFCWs experiment indicated that the removal efficiencies of chemical oxygen demand, total phosphorous, and total nitrogen in loach systems were significantly higher than those of non-loach systems, achieving 59.16%, 35.98%, and 40.96%, respectively. The CH4 and N2O emission fluxes were also significantly reduced in the integrated system, resulting in lower global warming potential (GWP) and GWP per unit of pollutants removal. Loaches promoted the transportation of oxygen, facilitated the re-contact and utilization of sediments, reduced CH4 emission, and enhanced nitrogen conversion and phosphorus accumulation. Increased bioavailable carbon and nitrate-nitrogen in the integrated system improved the abundance of denitrifying bacteria, which supported complete denitrification, reducing N2O emissions with high pollutant removal.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Acne is a common inflammatory disease of sebaceous glands, which brings extensive emotional and psychological distress to patients. Although acupuncture has certain advantages in the treatment of acne, the curative effect is not exact. The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the feasibility, preliminary efficacy, and safety of the "Spleen and Stomach Guiyuan Acupuncture Method" (SSGA) in the treatment of gastrointestinal damp-heat acne. METHODS: The proposed protocol is planned as a randomized, assessor-blind, conventional-treatment-controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of SSGA on gastrointestinal damp-heat acne. Seventy six gastrointestinal damp-heat acne patients will be randomly divided into 2 groups and receive SSGA or conventional acupuncture treatment. The entire study period is 12 weeks, including an 8-week treatment period and a 4-week follow-up period. All patients will receive 16 sessions of acupuncture treatment over 8 weeks. The primary outcome is the investigation global assessment (IGA) at week 8, which is an overall assessment of the degree of the inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesion. The secondary outcomes include IGA, the total facial lesion count (Total Lesion Count), the acne-specific quality of life, etc at weeks 8 and 12. The Expectation and Credibility of treatment rating scale will be used to measure the patients' attitudes to acupuncture after the first treatment. Adverse events will also be recorded. DISCUSSION: This study is helpful to evaluate the feasibility, preliminary efficacy, and safety of SSGA in the treatment of gastrointestinal damp-heat acne. The results will be used in sample size calculations for subsequent large-scale studies.Trial registration: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry ChiCTR2100047363. Registered on June 13, 2021.

RESUMO

To make use of broad spectrum solar energy remains a main target in the photoelectrochemical area. Novel promising photoelectrode CeO2:Fe/Yb/Er nanomaterials supported on upconversion nanomaterials doped with transition-metal ions are reported to improve broad spectrum absorption and scattering properties in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) for the first time. The results demonstrate that the materials have stronger upconversion luminescence than CeO2:Yb/Er samples when the Fe3+ ion doping concentration is 2 mol% and 33.5% higher photoelectric conversion efficiency than a pure P25 electrode, which are attributed to the special light scattering properties and excellent dye adsorption capacity of the CeO2:Fe/Yb/Er nanomaterials. Accordingly, doping Fe3+ transition metal ions in the upconversion material CeO2:Yb/Er provides a new research idea for improving the photoelectric conversion efficiency of DSSCs.

RESUMO

Using an internally oxidizing directing group (DG) strategy, we report a Rh(III)-catalyzed synthesis of isoquinolones via C-H activation/annulation of benzoylhydrazines and alkynes. Tunable double cascade cyclization of benzoylhydrazines with two equivalents of alkynes led to tetracyclic amides. These N-heterocycles demonstrated adjustable AIE properties.

RESUMO

An efficient Rh(III)-catalyzed coupling reaction of N-phenoxyacetamides with α,ß-unsaturated aldehydes to give 1,2-oxazepines via C-H activation/[4+3] annulation has been developed. This transformation does not require oxidants and features C-C/C-N bond formation to yield seven-membered oxazepine rings at room temperature. Further derivation of 1,2-oxazepines leads to important chroman derivatives.

RESUMO

The C-H activation strategy has become one of the preferred methods to introduce chemical functionality to a chemically inert carbon atom. Intensive efforts have been devoted to developing either versatile bond formations (product structural diversity) or effective directing groups (substrate site selectivity). From the views of medicinal and synthetic practitioners, the C-H activation approach remains inadequate due to its limitation to point-to-point derivatization. Direct assembly of 3D molecular complexity in a single step remains elusive for this strategy. Towards this goal, a multitasking functional group is required to accomplish several missions in one pot: site selecitivity, cleavability and redox versatility. We demonstrate that an oxyacetamide group is such a multifunctional warhead that enables a series of C-H functionalization cascades and allows direct access to structurally diverse polycyclic heterocyles in one pot. The progress of these reaction cascades were fully controlled by oxidants and temperature. The proliferation of the reaction chain can be extended to a four-step cascade.
