RESUMO

The highest ascorbic acid content has been found in a low-molecular fraction (m. w. less than 6000) of water-soluble proteins from brain tissue homogenates of rats, the lowest one--in a high-molecular fraction (m. w. about 65,000). The content of protein-bound ascorbic acid decreases during postnatal life. This process is accompanied by changes in the ratio of the reduced and oxidated forms of the ascorbic acid in favour of the latter.

RESUMO

Blood plasma proteins treated with mercuric ions (II), bound the oxidized derivatives of ascorbic acid at accelerated rates. Importance of this phenomenon for studies of the effects of environmental pathogenic factors is discussed.

RESUMO

The phospholipid content of the old and new rabbit erythrocyte membrane has been studied. The new erythrocyte membranes were found to contain fewer sphingomyelins compared to both the total population and the old erythrocyte fraction. In the old erythrocyte membrane the amount of sphingomyelins increased, whereas that of phosphatidilcholins decreased. The contents of phosphatidiletanolamins and phosphatidilserins in the old and new erythrocytes did not change.

RESUMO

A removal of bile acids from the bile by gel-filtration results in a decrease of coagulation threefold of the cholesterol micelle. During enzymatic cleavage of phospholipids in the whole bile, cholesterol is retained in the solution. Under the same treatment of a fraction isolated from the dog bile employing filtration through Sephadex G-75 and devoid of bile acids, cholesterol completely precipitated. The data obtained indicate an important role of fatty acids in the stabilization of cholesterol in the bile, phospholipids play a less role in this process.
