RESUMO

Purpose: This study determined the digital mammography and ultrasonography imaging features of pure invasive micropapillary carcinoma of the breast (PIMPC) and the correlation with pathologic features. Patients Methods: Nineteen patients diagnosed with PIMPC at Yantaishan Hospital from October 2015 to February 2022 were included in the study group. Forty patients with breast masses diagnosed as nonspecific invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast (NIDC) from July to December 2021 were included in the control group. Digital mammography and ultrasonography features were compared between the two groups. Results: Patients with PIMPC had a younger age profile compared to patients with NIDC (P=0.017). Moreover, PIMPC masses were smaller than NIDC masses (P=0.040). Imaging features analysis revealed significant differences in age groups (<45 years: χ²=5.971, P=0.044) and the presence of spiculations or the crab claw sign (χ²=8.583, P=0.004) between patients with PIMPC and NIDC. However, there were no statistically significant differences in the presence of calcifications, blood flow grading, pathologic molecular subtypes between the study and control groups. The Ki-67 proliferative index (χ²=1.052, P=0.389), vascular invasion (χ²=2.263, P=0.197), and lymph node metastasis (χ²=1.968, P=0.386) showed no significant differences between PIMPC and NIDC patients. Conclusion: PIMPC imaging features show specificity, such as tiny breast masses, spiculated edges, or crab claw-like patterns, and malignant signs appeared when the lesion was <2 cm in diameter. PIMPC mainly occurs in middle-aged women 45-59 y of age. Patients with PIMPC and NIDC of the breast are frequently associated with lymph node metastases and greater than one-half of the cases (74%) were shown to have a Ki-67 index >30%, suggesting a significant risk of recurrence and metastasis. Early therapeutic care for these patients is crucial. These results warrant further validation with additional samples from several centers due to the limited single-center sample size in the current study.

RESUMO

FOXD1, a new member of the FOX transcription factor family, serves as a mediator and biomarker for cell reprogramming. But its contribution to prognosis of uveal melanoma (UVM) is unclear. This study demonstrated that FOXD1 might promote tumor growth and invasion, because FOXD1 expression was negatively correlated with overall survival, progression-free survival, and disease-specific survival in UVM patients. This conjecture was verified in cell culture with human uveal melanoma cell line (MUM2B) as model cells. Additionally, the biological mechanisms of FOXD1 based on FOXD1-related genomic spectrum, molecular pathways, tumor microenvironment, and drug treatment sensitivity were examined using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, aiming to reasonably explain why FOXD1 leads to poor prognosis of UVM. On these bases, a novel tumor prognostic model was established using the FOXD1-related immunomodulators TMEM173, TNFRSF4, TNFSF13, and ULBP1, which will enable the stratification of disease seriousness and clinical treatment for patients.

RESUMO

Engineered scaffolds are used for repairing damaged esophagus to allow the precise alignment and movement of smooth muscle for peristalsis. However, most of these scaffolds focus solely on inducing cell alignment through directional apparatus, often overlooking the promotion of muscle tissue formation and causing reduced esophageal muscle repair effectiveness. To address this issue, we first introduced aligned nano-ferroferric oxide (Fe3O4) assemblies on a micropatterned poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogel to form micro-/nano-stripes. Further modification using a gold coating was found to enhance cellular adhesion, orientation and organization within these micro-/nano-stripes, which consequently prevented excessive adhesion of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) to the thin PEG ridges, thereby effectively confining the cells to the Fe3O4-laid channels. This architectural design promotes the alignment of the cytoskeleton and elongation of actin filaments, leading to the organized formation of muscle bundles and a tendency for SMCs to adopt synthetic phenotypes. Muscle patches are harvested from the micro-/nano-stripes and transplanted into a rat esophageal defect model. In vivo experiments demonstrate the exceptional viability of these muscle patches and their ability to accelerate the regeneration of esophageal tissue. Overall, this study presents an efficient strategy for constructing muscle patches with directional alignment and muscle bundle formation of SMCs, holding significant promise for muscle tissue regeneration.

RESUMO

Objective: Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) imaging technology opens a new idea and method for analyzing stone composition, which can obtain several quantitative parameters reflecting tissue-related information and energy images different from traditional images. However, the application of DECT in diagnosing urinary calculi remains unknown. This study aims to evaluate the value of DECT in diagnosing urinary calculi by meta-analysis. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched to articles published from the establishment of the databases to April 18, 2023. We reviewed the articles on the diagnosis of urinary calculi detected by DECT, established standards, screened the articles, and extracted data. Two researchers carried out data extraction and the Cohen's unweighted kappa was estimated for inter-investigator reliability. The quality of the literature was evaluated by the diagnostic test accuracy quality evaluation tool (QUADAS-2). The heterogeneity and threshold effects were analyzed by Meta-Disc 1.4 software, and the combined sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, and diagnostic ratio were calculated. The combined receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn, and the value of DECT in the diagnosis of urinary calculi was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC). The meta-analysis was registered at PROSPERO (CRD42023418204). Results: One thousand and twenty-seven stones were detected in 1,223 samples from 10 diagnostic tests. The analyzed kappa alternated between 0.78-0.85 for the document's retrieval and detection procedure. The sensitivity of DECT in the diagnosis of urinary calculi was 0.94 (95% CI [0.92-0.96]). The positive likelihood ratio (PLR) of DECT in the diagnosis of urinary stones was 0.91 (95% CI [0.88-0.94]), and the negative likelihood ratio (NLR) was 0.08 (95% CI [0.05-0.11]). The specificity of DECT for detecting urinary calculi was 0.91 (95% CI [0.88-0.94]). The area under the curve of the summary receiver operator characteristic (SROC) was 0.9875. The sensitivity of dual-energy CT in the diagnosis of urinary calculi diameter <3 mm was 0.94 (95% CI [0.91-0.96]). The PLR of DECT in the diagnosis of urinary stones diameter <3 mm was 10.79 (95% CI [5.25 to 22.17]), and the NLR was 0.08 (95% CI [0.05-0.13]). The specificity of DECT for detecting urinary calculi <3 mm was 0.91 (95% CI [0.87-0.94]). The SROC was 0.9772. Conclusion: The DECT has noble application value in detecting urinary calculi.

RESUMO

MiRNAs are biomarkers widely used in research but their clinical application is still challenging due to their low expression levels. Current methods for miRNA detection involve separate transcription and quantification for each target, which is costly and unsuitable for large sample sizes. This study provides a strategy for designing and screening miRNA-specific stem-loop reverse transcription (RT) primers, which enable the simultaneous transcription of three miRNAs and U6, and the concurrent detection of miRNA and U6 in the same transcript using TaqMan probes labeled with different dyes. The strategy was successfully employed to establish multiplex RT-PCR and dual-quantitative PCR (qPCR) quantification systems for 21 differentially expressed miRNAs during wound healing. The corresponding system can accurately quantify the cell culture samples containing miR-7a-5p mimic, miR-7a-5p inhibitor, or negative control. In summary, our results demonstrate that this strategy could efficiently accomplish the design, screening, and analysis of stem-loop RT primers for multiplex miRNA detection. Compared with the commercially customized miRNA assay kits, our system showed a higher degree of automation, more accurate qPCR assay capabilities, and lower assay costs, which could provide practical value for clinical diagnosis.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: High mortality and limited therapeutic efficacy of clinical treatment make breast cancer a stubborn disease in women. The hypovascular issue is the main challenge needed to be overcome in breast cancer treatment. METHODS: For this purpose, hyperthermia-sensitive liposomes containing indocyanine green (ICG) and brucea javanica oil (BJO) (LP(BJO/ICG)) were constructed for near-infrared (NIR) laser-induced photothermal- /chemo-antitumor therapy. ICG, an FDA-approved photothermal agent, was employed in this study to perform photothermal therapy (PTT) effect as well as relieve hypovascular conditions in breast cancer tissue. RESULTS: BJO triggered release from the hyperthermia-sensitive LP (BJO/ICG) due to disassembly of liposomes under the PTT effect caused by ICG under NIR laser irradiation. It was found that mice in LP (BJO/ICG) group showed the slowest tumor growth under NIR laser irradiation, illustrating the strongest antitumor effect among all groups. CONCLUSION: This responsive-release drug delivery platform can be a promising candidate for the treatment of breast cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) accounts for approximately 15% of all stroke cases. Previous studies suggested that acupuncture may improve ICH-induced neurological deficits. Therefore, we investigated the effects of acupuncture on neurological deficits in an animal model of ICH. METHODS: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with autologous blood (50 µL) into the right caudate nucleus. Additional rats underwent sham surgery as controls. ICH rats either received acupuncture (GV20 through GB7 on the side of the lesion) or sham acupuncture (1 cm to the right side of the traditional acupuncture point locations). Some ICH rats received acupuncture plus rapamycin injection into the right lateral ventricle. Neurological deficits in the various groups were assessed based on composite neurological score. The perihemorrhagic penumbra was analyzed by histopathology following hematoxylin-eosin staining. Levels of autophagy-related proteins light chain (LC)3 and p62 as well as of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)-related proteins, and phosphorylated (p)-mTOR and p-S6K1 (ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1), were assessed by Western blotting. RESULTS: Acupuncture significantly improved composite neurological scores 7 days after ICH (17.7 ± 1.49 vs 14.8 ± 1.32, p < 0.01). Acupuncture augmented autophagosome and autolysosome accumulation based on transmission electron microscopy. Acupuncture significantly increased expression of LC3 (p < 0.01) but decreased expression of p62 (p < 0.01). Acupuncture also reduced levels of p-mTOR and p-S6K1 (both p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture improved neurological deficits in a rat model of ICH, possibly by inhibiting the mTOR pathway and activating autophagy.

RESUMO

Amniotic membrane (AM) transplantation is often used as a treatment for corneal repair, but AM is prone to dissolving and shedding after surgery; multiple transplants will cause pain and financial burden. In this work, human amniotic membrane was firstly decellularized to obtain an AM extracellular matrix (dAM). This dAM was homogenized and extracted to obtain the dAM extract (simplified as dAME). Different forms of administration for corneal injury were performed as liquid drops (diluted dAME), in situ gels (using temperature-dependent Poloxamer 407 as the matrix), and tablets (poly(vinyl alcohol) as the matrix). The cytocompatibility of dAME was evaluated using corneal epithelial cells, corneal stromal cells and fibroblasts as cell models. The results showed that dAME is biocompatible to all these cells. Cells exhibited normal morphology and growth state at a dAME concentration of up to 160 µg mL-1. In vivo, dAME exhibited increased wound healing efficiency in severe corneal injury, being characterized with a shorter healing time for epithelium and a faster recovery for stromal opacity and thickness, compared with those of the control eyes. Different forms of administration have different effects on corneal repair; among them, in situ gels achieved the best therapeutic efficiency. Their biological mechanism was detected via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) technology. It was confirmed that dAME plays important roles in promoting the mRNA expression of leucine-rich and immunoglobulin-like domains 1 (LRIG1) and in inhibiting the mRNA of transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1).

RESUMO

The simple sequence repeats (SSRs) of plant chloroplasts show considerable genetic variation and have been widely used in species identification and phylogenetic relationship determination. Whether chloroplast genome SSRs can be used to classify Cyatheaceae species has not yet been studied. Therefore, the chloroplast genomes of eight Cyatheaceae species were sequenced, and their SSR characteristics were compared and statistically analyzed. The results showed that the chloroplast genome structure was highly conserved (genome size: 154,046-166,151 bp), and the gene content (117 genes) and gene order were highly consistent. The distribution characteristics of SSRs (number, relative abundance, relative density, GC content) showed taxon specificity. The primary results were the total numbers of SSRs and mononucleotides: Gymnosphaera (61-67 and 40-47, respectively), Alsophila (121-122 and 95-96), and Sphaeropteris (102-103 and 77-80). Statistical and clustering analyses of SSR characteristics showed that their distribution was consistent with the recent classification of Cyatheaceae, which divided the eight Cyatheaceae species into three genera. This study indicates that the distribution characteristics of Cyatheaceae chloroplast SSRs can provide useful phylogenic information at the genus level.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the therapeutic effect on rheumatoid arthritis treated with Bo's abdominal acupuncture for "guiding qi to the source" plus "opening four gates on the abdomen" and the relevant effect mechanism. METHODS: A total of 104 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were randomized into and an observation group (52 cases, 1 case dropped off) and a control group (52 cases, 3 cases dropped off). In the control group, methotrexate tablets were prescribed for oral administration, 5 mg each time, once a week. In the observation group, on the base of the treatment as the control group, Bo's abdominal acupuncture was combined. The acupoints included Zhongwan (CV 12), Xiawan (CV 10), Guanyuan (CV 4), Qihai (CV 6), Huaroumen (ST 24), Wailing (ST 26), etc. The treatment was given once every two days, 3 times weekly. Totally 12 weeks were required in the two groups. Before and after treatment, the score of TCM symptoms (including joint pain, the range of motion, joint swelling and morning stiffness), and the levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), rheumatoid factor (RF) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were observed and the clinical therapeutic effect was assessed in the two groups. RESULTS: After treatment, the total effective rate was 88.2% (45/51) in the observation group, higher than 73.5% (36/49) in the control group (P<0.05). The score of each TCM symptom and the total scores after treatment were all lower than those before treatment in the two groups (P<0.05), and these scores in the observation group were lower than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of ESR, RF and CRP were all lower than those before treatment in the two groups (P<0.05), while the levels of those indexes in the observation group were lower than the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Bo's abdominal acupuncture for "guiding qi to the source" plus "opening four gates on the abdomen" as the adjunctive therapy effectively relieves the clinical symptoms in the patients with rheumatoid arthritis, which is related to the reduction of ESR, RF and CRP in mechanism.

RESUMO

A series of hydrogels containing guanidine-based polymers using a poloxamer as the matrix were prepared to provide novel wound dressings with antibacterial and repairing-promotion properties for skin wounds. Herein, we developed a series of antibacterial hydrogels, the cationic guanidine-based polymer polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride (PHMG) with poloxamer aqueous solution (12%, w/w) simplified as PHMGP, chitosan (CS)-cross-linked PHMG (referred to as PHMC) with poloxamer aqueous solution simplified as PHMCP, and hyaluronic acid (HA)-modified PHMG (referred to as PHMH) with poloxamer aqueous solution simplified as PHMHP, for enhancing full-thickness skin wound healing. The characterizations, antimicrobial activity, cytotoxicity, and in vivo full-thickness wound-healing capability of these hydrogels were analyzed and evaluated. The results show that though PHMGP possesses great bactericide properties, its cytotoxicity is too strong to support skin regeneration. However, after modified with CS or HA, PHMCP and PHMHP showed good biocompatibility and antimicrobial properties against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria that are commonly present in injured skin. Both PHMCP and PHMHP hydrogels exhibited upgraded wound-healing efficiency in full-thickness skin defects, characterized by a shorter wound closure time, faster re-regeneration, and the earlier formation of skin appendages, compared with those of control or pure poloxamer treatments. Their biological mechanism was detected. Both PHMCP and PHMHP can regulate the related biofactors during the skin repair process such as interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), interleukin-6 (IL-6), transforming growth factor beta-1(TGF-ß1), alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and vascular endothelial growth factor, to promote wound healing with less serious scarring. In short, hydrogels with excellent capabilities to inhibit microorganism infection and promote wound healing were developed, which will shed light on designing and producing wound dressings with promising applications in future.

RESUMO

Ophioglossum vulgatum is a rare and ancient fern. In this study, the chloroplast (cp) genome of O. vulgatum was completely sequenced. The genome size is 138,562 bp, which contains a large single-copy (LSC) region with 99,351 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region with 19,661 bp, and two inverted repeats (IR) regions of 9,775 bp each. Additionally, the overall GC content is 42.14%. It encodes a total 129 genes, including 84 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The Bayesian phylogenetic tree shows that O. vulgatum and O. californicum formed a monophyletic branch. This study can provide a molecular basis for studying the phylogenetic genomics and population variation of Ophioglossaceae.

RESUMO

Chloroplast genome sequences have been used to understand evolutionary events and to infer efficiently phylogenetic relationships. Callitropsis funebris (Cupressaceae) is an endemic species in China. Its phylogenetic position is controversial due to morphological characters similar to those of Cupressus, Callitropsis, and Chamaecyparis. This study used next-generation sequencing technology to sequence the complete chloroplast genome of Ca. funebris and then constructed the phylogenetic relationship between Ca. funebris and its related species based on a variety of data sets and methods. Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and adaptive evolution analysis were also conducted. Our results showed that the monophyletic branch consisting of Ca. funebris and Cupressus tonkinensis is a sister to Cupressus, while Callitropsis is not monophyletic; Ca. nootkatensis and Ca. vietnamensis are nested in turn at the base of the monophyletic group Hesperocyparis. The statistical results of SSRs supported the closest relationship between Ca. funebris and Cupressus. By performing adaptive evolution analysis under the phylogenetic background of Cupressales, the Branch model detected three genes and the Site model detected 10 genes under positive selection; and the Branch-Site model uncovered that rpoA has experienced positive selection in the Ca. funebries branch. Molecular analysis from the chloroplast genome highly supported that Ca. funebris is at the base of Cupressus. Of note, SSR features were found to be able to shed some light on phylogenetic relationships. In short, this chloroplast genomic study has provided new insights into the phylogeny of Ca. funebris and revealed multiple chloroplast genes possibly undergoing adaptive evolution.

RESUMO

Skin wounds not only cause physical pain for patients but also are an economic burden for society. It is necessary to seek out an efficient approach to promote skin repair. Hydrogels are considered effective wound dressings. They possess many unique properties like biocompatibility, biodegradability, high water uptake and retention etc., so that they are promising candidate materials for wound healing. Chitosan is a polymeric biomaterial obtained by the deacetylation of chitin. With the properties of easy acquisition, antibacterial and hemostatic activity, and the ability to promote skin regeneration, hydrogel-like functional wound dressings (represented by chitosan and its derivatives) have received extensive attentions for their effectiveness and mechanisms in promoting skin wound repair. In this review, we extensively discussed the mechanisms with which chitosan-based functional materials promote hemostasis, anti-inflammation, proliferation of granulation in wound repair. We also provided the latest information about the applications of such materials in wound treatment. In addition, we summarized the methods to enhance the advantages and maintain the intrinsic nature of chitosan via incorporating other chemical components, active biomolecules and other substances into the hydrogels.

RESUMO

Medical device contamination caused by microbial pathogens such as bacteria and fungi has posed a severe threat to the patients' health in hospitals. Due to the increasing resistance of pathogens to antibiotics, the efficacy of traditional antibiotics treatment is gradually decreasing for the infection treatment. Therefore, it is urgent to develop new antibacterial drugs to meet clinical or civilian needs. Antibacterial polymers have attracted the interests of researchers due to their unique bactericidal mechanism and excellent antibacterial effect. This article reviews the mechanism and advantages of antimicrobial polymers and the consideration for their translation. Their applications and advances in medical device surface coating were also reviewed. The information will provide a valuable reference to design and develop antibacterial devices that are resistant to pathogenic infections.

RESUMO

Nanotechnology using biodegradable polymer carriers with good biocompatibility and bioabsorbability has been studied and applied extensively in drug delivery systems and biomedical engineering. In this work, the triblocked oligomer poly(L-lactide)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(L-lactide) (PLEL) with the molecular weight of 2.08 KDa was first synthesized. Its chemistry was characterized by hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectrum and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Subsequently, the nanoparticles (NPs) of PLEL and pranoprofen (PF)-loaded PLEL were prepared with the average particle size of (151.7 ± 5.87) nm using the method of emulsion solvent evaporation. The formula and drug releasing profile were characterized by a transmission electron microscope (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and ultraviolet spectrophotometer (US). In vitro cytotoxicity assays and in vivo ophthalmic tests were performed to measure the safety and efficacy of the formulations. The results showed that PF NPs relieved the cytotoxicity of pure PF and eliminated ophthalmic irritation. The drug encapsulated in the nanoparticles displayed long-lasting release and good anti-inflammation efficiency in animal eyes. Therefore, we concluded that the present formula (PF NPs) could provide sustained drug release with good treatment effect on eye inflammation, and is promising for its use in ophthalmology in the future.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of acupuncture at "Baihui" (GV 20) through "Qubin" (GB 7) on NLRP3 inflammatory corpuscle in rats with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and to explore the action mechanism of acupuncture on promoting the recovery of neural function in rats with ICH. METHODS: Forty SPF six-week-old male SD rats were randomly divided into a sham operation group, a model group, a non-acupoint group and an acupuncture group, 10 rats in each group. The rats in the model group, non-acupoint group and acupuncture group were intervened with autologous blood injection to prepare ICH model, while the rats in the sham operation group were only intervened with operation but not injection with autologous blood. About 3 hours after the establishment of the model, the rats in the acupuncture group were intervened with acupuncture at "Baihui" (GV 20) through "Qubin" (GB 7), once every 12 hours, for 7 days; the rats in the non-acupoint group were intervened with acupuncture at the non-acupoint [parallel to the "Baihui" (GV 20), 1 cm next to the midline] on the affected side, and other treatment was the same as the acupuncture group. At the end of the intervention, the composite nerve function score of each group was evaluated; the histomorphology of the hemorrhage penumbra was observed by HE staining; the expression of NLRP3 inflammatory corpuscle in the brain was detected by immunohistochemistry; the relative protein expression levels of NLRP3, interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) in brain were detected by the method of Western blot. RESULTS: Seven days into intervention, compared with the sham operation group, each item score and total score of composite nerve function in the model group were significantly reduced (P<0.01, P<0.05). There was edema and karyopyknosis in brain neuron as well as necrocytosis and inflammatory cell infiltration in the model group. Compared with the model group and the non-acupoint group, the total score of composite nerve function and the scores of symmetrical movement of limbs (LS) and proprioception of tentacles (VP) in the acupuncture group were increased (P<0.01, P<0.05), and the cell necrosis and inflammatory cell infiltration were relieved. Compared with the sham operation group, NLRP3 inflammatory corpuscle expression and the relative protein expression levels of NLRP3, IL-1ß and IL-18 in brain tissue in the model group were increased (P<0.01); compared with the model group and the non-acupoint group, NLRP3 inflammatory corpuscle expression and the relative protein expression levels of NLRP3, IL-1ß and IL-18 in brain tissue in the acupuncture group were reduced (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture at "Baihui" (GV 20) through "Qubin" (GB 7) could downregulate the expression of NLRP3, IL-1ß and IL-18 in the brain tissue of ICH rats, inhibit the inflammatory response, and promote the recovery of neural function.

RESUMO

Electroacupuncture (EA) can effectively alleviate anxiety disorders and memory impairments caused by various neurodegenerative diseases; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying its neuroprotective effects are unclear. Previous studies have shown that the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) comprises of two axes with mutual antagonism: the classical angiotensin converting enzyme/angiotensin II/angiotensin II type 1 receptor (ACE/Ang II/AT1R) axis and the protective angiotensin converting enzyme 2/angiotensin-(1-7)/Mas receptor (ACE2/Ang-(1-7)/MasR) axis. In this study, we observed that chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) mediated anxiety-like behavior and memory impairments in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) via upregulation of the hippocampal classical axis (ACE/Ang II/AT1R) and the partial hippocampal protective axis (ACE2/Ang-(1-7)). However, Ang II levels were much higher than those of Ang-(1-7), indicating that the ACE/Ang II/AT1R axis plays a dominant role in the comorbidity of CCH and hypertension. Moreover, candesartan cilexetil (Canc) and perindopril (Peril) were used as positive control drugs. We found that EA, Canc, and Peril attenuated CCH-induced anxiety-like behavior and memory impairments in SHR, potentially via downregulation of the hippocampal classical axis (ACE/Ang II/AT1R) and upregulation of the whole hippocampal protective axis (ACE2/Ang-(1-7)/MasR). These results suggest that EA therapy for CCH with hypertension may be mediated by two hippocampal RAS axes.

RESUMO

Illumina sequencing was employed to determine the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of Sphaeropteris brunoniana (S. brunoniana), which is a relict fern. The cp genome of S. brunoniana is indeed a circular DNA molecule with 156,659 bp. It includes an inverted repeats (IRs) pair with 24,011 bp each and two single-copy regions with 86,196 bp and 22,441 bp, respectively. Additionally, the genome contains 117 unique genes encoding 85 proteins, 28 tRNAs, four rRNAs. Pseudogenes of ycf66 and trnT-UGU are also detected in this genome.Bayesian phylogenetic tree strongly supports the deduction that S. brunoniana belongs to Cyatheaceae. To date, this is the first cp genome for the genus S. brunoniana.
