INTRODUCTION: The leading cause for medical evacuation from the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility is because of mental health conditions. The In-Theater Mental Health Assessment (ITMHA) is a DoD-required screening of deployed personnel. It is vital to examine the efficacy of ITMHA's potential to significantly impact the mental health outcomes of service members. MATERIALS AND METHODS: All ITMHA results of individuals in 2 deployed Army battalions along with a brigade headquarters deployed to U.S. Central Command between October 2022 and October 2023 were collected and analyzed. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize the results of the ITMHA. RESULTS: Of 670 deployed service members, 157 (23%) scored positive on ITMHA. Ten service members were referred for additional mental health evaluation. The remaining 147 (22%) service members who scored positive were not referred because of a lack of significant impairment or were already engaged in mental health services. One service member in the study was evacuated because of a mental health condition. The most common major life stressors identified were family/relationship issues, sleep problems, and mental health concerns. CONCLUSIONS: The number of deployed personnel identified through the ITMHA as requiring mental health care was modest. The ITMHA has multiple limitations that, if addressed, will improve its utility to mitigate mental health decline in the expeditionary environment.

In this work, we report how manganese phthalocyanine (MnPc) films obtained using the ultrasonic spray-pyrolysis technique at 40 °C deposited on glass substrate subjected to thermal annealing at 100 °C and 120 °C. The MnPc films were characterized using UV/Vis spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The absorption spectra of the MnPc films were studied in a wavelength range from 200 to 850 nm, where the characteristic bands of a metallic phthalocyanine known as B and Q bands were observed in this range of the spectrum. The optical energy band (Eg) was calculated using the Tauc equation. It was found that, for these MnPc films, the Eg has the values of 4.41, 4.46, and 3.58 eV corresponded to when they were deposited, annealing at 100 °C and 120 °C, respectively. The Raman spectra of the films showed the characteristic vibrational modes of the MnPc films. In the X-Ray diffractograms of these films, the characteristic diffraction peaks of a metallic phthalocyanine are observed, presenting a monoclinic phase. The SEM images of these films were studied in a cross-section obtaining thicknesses of 2 µm for the deposited film and 1.2 µm and 0.3 µm for the annealed films at 100 °C and 120 °C. Additionally, in the SEM images of these films, average particle sizes ranging from 4 to 0.041 µm were obtained. The results agree with those reported in the literature for MnPc films deposited by performing other techniques.

Silver and gold nanoparticles were synthesized under environmentally-friendly reaction conditions by using a biodegradable copolymer and water as a solvent. The triblock copolymer Pluronic P103 was utilized as a stabilizing agent or soft template to produce Ag and Au nanoparticles (NPs) of different sizes. Moreover, in the synthesis of Au NPs, the polymer acted as a reducing agent, decreasing the number of reagents used and consequently the residues produced, hence, rendering the procedure less complicated. It was observed that as the concentration of the polymer increased, the size of the metallic NPs augmented as well. However, AgNPs and AuNPs prepared with 1 and 10 wt% Pluronic P103, respectively, showed a significant decrease in particle size due to the presence of polymeric soft templates. The hybrid materials (metal/polymer) were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, DLS, and TEM. The pre-synthesized nanoparticles were employed to decorate anatase-TiO2, and the composites were characterized by DRS, XRD, BET surface area measurements, the TEM technique with the EDS spectrum, and XPS spectroscopy to demonstrate NPs superficial incorporation. Finally, methylene blue was used as a probe molecule to evidence the effect of NPs decoration in its photocatalytic degradation. The results showed that the presence of the NPs positively affected methylene blue degradation, achieving 96% and 97% removal by utilizing TAg0.1 and TAu10, respectively, in comparison to bare anatase-TiO2 (77%).

RESUMEN La finalidad del presente trabajo es determinar empíricamente la relación entre el capital estructural (CE) y el desempeño organizacional en el estado de Tamaulipas. El estudio es cuantitativo, de alcance correlacional con un diseño transversal. Se emplearon las técnicas de investigación de análisis factorial exploratorio (AFE) y la correlación de Rho de Spearman. Se aplicaron 253 encuestas de manera presencial y online. Se determinó una estructura de dos factores para el CE (I. estructura formal y proceso desarrollo humano y 2. cultura innovadora) y de tres factores para el desempeño organizacional (I. desempeño financiero [DF], 2. desempeño operativo [DO], y 3. desempeño de mercado [DM]). Se comprobó que ambos factores del CE tienen una asociación positiva y significativa con cada uno de los tres factores que componen el desempeño organizacional. La investigación realizada puede influir en el diseño de posteriores modelos estratégicos que auxilien a los estrategas en la dirección estratégica organizacional. Asimismo, para los gestores de políticas públicas podría constituir un referente empírico inicial para la creación de políticas proactivas enfocadas en el fortalecimiento de la competitividad estatal. ABSTRACT The purpose of this work is to empirically determine the relationship between structural capital (SC) and organizational performance in the state ofTamaulipas. The study is quantitative, correlational in scope with a transversal design. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) research techniques and Spearman's Rho correlation were used. 253 surveys were applied in person and online. A two-factor structure was determined for the EC (I. formal structure and human development process and 2. innovative culture) and three factors for organizational performance (I. financial performance [FP], 2. operational performance [OP], and 3. market performance [MP]). It was found that both factors of the SC have a positive and significant association with each of the three factors that make up the organizational performance. The research carried out can influence the design of subsequent strategic models that help strategists in the strategic organizational direction. Likewise, for public policy managers it could constitute an initial empirical reference for the creation of proactive policies focused on strengthening state competitiveness. RESUMO
The search for novel materials and the development of improved processes for water purification have attracted the interest of researchers worldwide and the use of titanium dioxide in photocatalytic processes for the degradation of organic pollutants contained in water has been one of the benchmarks. Compared to crystalline titanium dioxide (cTiO2), the amorphous material has the advantages of having a higher adsorption capacity and being easier to dope with metal and non-metal elements. In this work, we take advantage of these two features to improve its photocatalytic properties in the degradation of Rhodamine B. The structural characterization by XRD analysis gives evidence of its amorphous nature and the SEM micrographs portray the disc morphology of 300 nm in diameter with heterogeneous grain boundaries. The degradation of Rhodamine B tests with the amorphous TiO2 using visible light confirm its improved catalytic activity compared to that of a commercial product, Degussa P25, which is a well-known crystalline material.

Cysticercosis is a tissue infestation with Taenia solium (pork tapeworm) larvae and should feature in the differential diagnosis of all soft tissue swellings arising after travel to Central and South America, Eastern Europe, China, and India. We describe a patient who presented 8 months after travel to Nicaragua with pea-sized, intermittently tingling nodules in limbs and trunk and a lump in her mouth, which moved constantly. Various British practitioners misdiagnosed the patient's complaint as sebaceous cysts, diffuse lipomata, neurosis, and gnathostomiasis. The diagnosis was finally made by immunoblot assay testing for cysticercosis immunoglobulin (Ig)G, and the patient was cured with a course of albendazole 400 mg, taken twice daily for 30 days. This case illustrates the importance of careful history taking and appropriate investigations.

Se realizó un estudio analítico, retrospectivo de corte transversal de casos y controles (1:2) revisando 123 pacientes con diagnóstico de cardiopatía isquémica (casos) y 246 pacientes sin diagnóstico de cardiopatía isquémica (controles) en el Hospital Escuela "Oscar Danilo Rosales Argüello" durante 1993; seleccionando los pacientes del Departamento de Medicina Interna y de la consulta externa. El sexo masculino estuvo más frecuentemente afectado (70 casos, 57 porciento) y el grupo etáreo más afectado fue el mayor de 59 años (80 casos, 65 porciento); menor de 40 años solamente se encontró un caso que fue del sexo masculino. El riesgo relativo estratificado de la edad y el riesgo atribuible fueron del 1.51 y 34 porciento respectivamente. Se encontraron consistentemente relacionadas con la cardiopatía isquémica la Diabetes Mellitus (O.R. = 1.90, p=0.02, Riesgo atribuible = 47 porciento), Hipertensión arterial (O.R. = 2.10, p= 0.002, Riesgo atribuible = 52 porciento), Obesidad (O.R. = 1.91, p= 0.01, Riesgo atribuible = 48 porciento), Hipercolesterolemia (O.R. = 2.54, p=0.00003, Riesgo atribuible = 61 porciento), Hipertrigliceridemia (O.R. = 1.93, p=0.005, Riesgo atribuible = 48 porciento), Tabaquismo (O.R. = 2.83, p=0.00002, Riesgo atribuible = 65 porciento), y el nivel de fumado con un O.R. = 2.59 aunque no fue significativo. Grupos de pacientes estudiados, especialmente expuestos a riesgos de cardiopatía isquémica fueron los que presentaban Hipercolesterolemia + Hipertensión Arterial (O.R. = 1.83, p= 0.03). O Hipercolesterolemia + Tabaquismo (O.R. = 2.81, p= 0.0001). El 56 porciento de los casos y el 36 porciento de los controles presentaron algún grado de riesgo de hipercolesterolemia y el 44 porciento de casos con el 29 porciento de controles algún grado de riesgo de hipertrigliceridemia. La hiperuricemia fue un factor consistentemente relacionado con la cardiopatía isquémica (O.R. = 2.73, p= 0.001, Riesgo atribuible = 63 porciento)...
