BACKGROUND: Patients undergoing surgery for Superior-Labrum-anterior-to-posterior (SLAP) lesions are often worried about their return to sport performance. This systematic review determined the rate of return to sport and return to sport at the previous level (RTSP) after surgery for SLAP lesion. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The PRISMA guidelines were followed. Meta-analysis of data through forest plot projections was conducted. Studies were divided and analyzed according to the type of interventions (isolated slap repair or SLAP repair with rotator cuff debridement and biceps tenodesis). RESULTS: The mean overall rate of return to sport after the procedures was 90.6% and the mean overall rate of return to sport at the previous level after the procedures was 71.7%. RTSP rates of the whole population were 71% (95% CI: 60%-80%), 66% (95% CI: 49%-79%), and 78% (95% CI: 67%-87%) for isolated SLAP repair, SLAP repair with the rotator cuff debridement and biceps tenodesis, respectively. A lack of subgroup analysis for the specific performance demand or type of lesion related to the surgical technique used might induce a high risk of bias. DISCUSSION: Return to sports at the previous level after surgically treated superior labrum anterior to posterior lesion is possible and highly frequent, with the highest rates of RTSP in patients treated with biceps tenodesis. More studies and better-designed trials are needed to enrich the evidence on indications of SLAP surgical treatment in relation to specific sports-level demand. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level-IV.

BACKGROUND: The safety and the clinical success of simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty (BTKA) is controversial. The aim of this study was to compare complications and patient-reported outcomes following simultaneous BTKA (simBTKA) versus staged BKTA (staBTKA) in patients affected by bilateral symptomatic end-stage knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS: Data from patients who underwent simBTKA or staBTKA at a single institution from January 2017 to December 2020, with a minimum 1-year follow up period were retrospectively collected. Differences in terms of complications and clinical success were compared among the simBTKA and staBTKA patient groups. Alpha was set at 0.05. RESULTS: A total of 173 patients were included in this study. The results revealed no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of mortality, revision rate, readmission rate, local and systemic complications and patient-reported outcomes. SimBTKA group had a shorter operating room time (96 (73-119) vs. 195 (159-227); P < 0.0001), and length of hospital stay (4 (3-5) vs. 7 (6-9); P < 0.0001) compared with the staBTKA group. CONCLUSIONS: SimBTKA performed in a selected patient population at a high-volume center can be considered comparable to staBTKA in terms of safety, postoperative complications, 30-day readmissions and patient satisfaction. Consequently, reduced operating room time and hospital stay renders simBTKA a cost-effective and advantageous option, not only for patients, but also for healthcare institutes. Furthermore, the current study also highlights the importance of correct patient selection based on clinical preoperative characteristics.

BACKGROUND: Whether there is a difference in harvesting the semitendinosus tendon alone (S) or in combination with the gracilis tendon (SG) for the recovery of knee flexor strength after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction remains inconclusive. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the recovery of knee flexor strength based on the autograft composition, S or SG autograft at 6, 12, and ≥ 24 months after ACL reconstruction. METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. A comprehensive search was performed encompassing the Cochrane Library, Embase, Medline, PEDRo and AMED databases from inception to January 2023. Inclusion criteria were human clinical trials published in English, comprised of randomized controlled trials (RCTs), longitudinal cohort-, cross-sectional and case-control studies that compared knee flexor strength recovery between S and SG autografts in patients undergoing primary ACL reconstruction. Isokinetic peak torques were summarized for angular velocities of 60°/s, 180°/s, and across all angular velocities, assessed at 6, 12, and ≥ 24 months after ACL reconstruction. A random-effects model was used with standardized mean differences and 95% confidence intervals. Risk of bias was assessed with the RoBANS for non-randomized studies and the Cochrane RoB 2 tool for RCTs. Certainty of evidence was appraised using the GRADE working group methodology. RESULTS: Among the 1,227 patients from the 15 included studies, 604 patients received treatment with S autograft (49%), and 623 received SG autograft (51%). Patients treated with S autograft displayed lesser strength deficits at 6 months across all angular velocities d = -0.25, (95% CI -0.40; -0.10, p = 0.001). Beyond 6 months after ACL reconstruction, no significant difference was observed between autograft compositions. CONCLUSION: The harvest of S autograft for ACL reconstruction yields superior knee flexor strength recovery compared to SG autograft 6 months after ACL reconstruction, irrespective of angular velocity at isokinetic testing. However, the clinical significance of the observed difference in knee flexor strength between autograft compositions at 6 months is questionable, given the very low certainty of evidence and small effect size. There was no significant difference in knee flexor strength recovery between autograft compositions beyond 6 months after ACL reconstruction. TRIAL REGISTRATION: CRD42022286773.

The aim of the present study was to individuate and compare specific machine learning algorithms that could predict postoperative anterior elevation score after reverse shoulder arthroplasty surgery at different time points. Data from 105 patients who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty at the same institute have been collected with the purpose of generating algorithms which could predict the target. Twenty-eight features were extracted and applied to two different machine learning techniques: Linear regression and support vector regression (SVR). These two techniques were also compared in order to define to most faithfully predictive. Using the extracted features, the SVR algorithm resulted in a mean absolute error (MAE) of 11.6° and a classification accuracy (PCC) of 0.88 on the test-set. Linear regression, instead, resulted in a MAE of 13.0° and a PCC of 0.85 on the test-set. Our machine learning study demonstrates that machine learning could provide high predictive algorithms for anterior elevation after reverse shoulder arthroplasty. The differential analysis between the utilized techniques showed higher accuracy in prediction for the support vector regression. The purpose of this study was to investigate how lateralization shoulder angle (LSA) and distalization shoulder angle (DSA) are related to clinical and kinematic outcomes after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Thirty-three patients were evaluated at least six months postoperatively. The Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE), Constant Murley Score (CMS), Simple Shoulder Test (SST), and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were used. Shoulder kinematics was evaluated with a stereophotogrammetric system. LSA and DSA inter-rater reliability was analysed through the interclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Stepwise forward linear regression analysis was conducted between LSA and DSA with clinical scales and kinematic measures, between which a correlation analysis was conducted. The inter-rater reliability for LSA (mean ICC = 0.93) and DSA (mean ICC = 0.97) results were good to excellent. Greater LSA values were associated with higher peaks of internal rotation (p = 0.012, R2 = 0.188) and range of motion (ROM) (p = 0.037, R2 = 0.133). SANE (p = 0.009), CMS (p = 0.031), and SST (0.026) were positively correlated to external rotation, while VAS (p = 0.020) was negatively related. Abduction peaks were positively related to CMS (p = 0.011) and SANE (p = 0.037), as well as abduction ROM (SANE, p = 0.031; CMS, p = 0.014).

Background: Two surgical techniques were compared : Standard BIO-RSA, performed with a glenoid eccentric reaming along with a cylindric bone graft augmentation vs. the Angled BIO-RSA, performed with a glenoid concentric reaming and a defect correction with an angled bone graft. Methods: Patients undergoing RSA from January 2016 to April 2019, with one of the two techniques being performed, were retrospectively reviewed. Glenoids were classified according to Favard. Clinical (Constant-Murley, VAS and ROM) and radiographic (superior tilt correction) data were collected pre-operatively and at 12 months post-operatively. Results: 141 shoulders were included. Angled BIO-RSA group showed statistically significant better outcomes in terms of forward flexion (149.9° Vs 139.3°) and abduction (136.4° Vs 126.7°). The use of an Angled BIO-RSA showed a statistically significant better superior tilt correction (1.252° Vs 4.09°). Angled BIO-RSA, leads to a better inclination correction and a mean postoperative tilt value inferior to 5° in E1 and E3 differently from standard BIO-RSA. Discussion: Both techniques were able to correct glenoid superior inclination with excellent postoperative short-term results. However, angled BIO-RSA technique appears to be more effective in ensuring a correct inclination of the prosthetic glenoid component with better clinical outcomes.

BACKGROUND: In recent years, kinematic alignment (KA) is becoming a valid alternative to mechanical alignment (MA) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, to avoid early failures, the restricted kinematic alignment (rKA) approach has been developed to restore native knee kinematics without reproducing extreme knee phenotype. This systematic review aims to evaluate clinical and radiological outcomes between rKA and MA for TKA. METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted following PRISMA guidelines on Pubmed, Scopus and Cochrane Library. The following search string was adopted: (((restricted kinematic) AND (mechanical)) AND (alignment)) AND (knee). We included studies that analyzed rKA versus MA in terms of clinical outcomes and complications with a minimum of 6 months of follow up. The following rKA- and MA-related data were evaluated: patient-reported outcome scores (PROMs), radiographic analysis of lower limb alignment, and complications. Criteria from the Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies were used to assess the methodological quality of the articles. RESULTS: This systematic review included seven clinical studies with a total of 892 knees (471 for MA group and 421 for rKA group, respectively). Overall, post-operative PROMs were similar between rKA and MA. Moreover, rKA reached better results regarding Forgotten Joint Score and post-operative patient satisfaction. Finally, no higher complication rate was observed with the rKA approach. CONCLUSION: The rKA aims to restore native knee kinematics, avoiding extreme deformities. Clinical outcomes are not inferior or even better for rKA compared with MA, without increasing the risk of short-middle-term implant failure. However, there is a high heterogeneity regarding the 'restricted' protocols used.

(1) Background: Allograft prosthetic composite (APC) represents one of the techniques used for reconstruction in large proximal humeral bone deficits. The present systematic review aimed at summarizing the state of the art of the technique and analyzing its outcomes. (2) Methods: The PRISMA guidelines were followed to perform this systematic review. A systematic electronic search was performed using PubMed (MEDLINE), EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases. All the studies analyzing the rates of allograft prosthesis composite were pooled, and the data were extracted and analyzed. (3) Results: A total of 10 studies were eligible for inclusion in this systematic review for a total of 239 patients. The rate of patient satisfaction with surgery was reported in 7 studies with a mean of 86.4% ± 13.64. The mean constant score was 45.7 ± 3.51, the mean ASES score was 63.58 ± 8.37, and the mean SST was 4.6 ± 1.04. The mean revision rate observed was 10.32% ± 3.63 and the mean implant survival was 83.66% ± 14.98. (4) Conclusions: Based on the currently available data, allograft prosthesis composite represents a valuable option for the reconstruction of proximal humeral deficits. All studies analyzed showed the favorable impact of this surgical technique on clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Background: One of the most frequent complications in patients affected by traumatic anterior dislocations is bony Bankart lesion. This study evaluates the clinical and functional outcomes of 10 patients with isolated large glenoid fracture and acute glenohumeral dislocation treated with reverse shoulder arthroplasty. Methods: Patients older than 69 years who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty after isolated large glenoid fracture and acute glenohumeral dislocation between 2016 and 2022 at the same institute were selected. Shoulder range of motion and pain level was assessed. The impact on quality of life has been evaluated through four measures: the constant scale, the simple shoulder test (SST), the OXFORD scale, and The University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder scale. Results: The mean Constant score was 77.1 (range 68-84), the mean SST score was 9.4 (range 8-10), the Oxford score was 44.3 (range 35-48), and the UCLA shoulder scale was 27.1 (range 24-30). No reoperation was performed on any patient in this series. Conclusion: Reverse shoulder arthroplasty for elderly patients with bony Bankart lesion and acute glenohumeral dislocation represents a valuable option in terms of clinical results, patient satisfaction and early- to medium-term complications.

Traumatic or degenerative rotator cuff (RC) tendon injuries are a leading cause of persistent shoulder pain and reduction of mobility with associated disability and dysfunction, which require each year more than 250,000 surgical repairs in the United States. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs, that in the posttranscriptional phase lead to the development and function of tissues. The aim of this review was to identify miRNA expression changes in patients with RC pathologies and to determine their relevance as a potential novel diagnostic and potentially therapeutic tool for RC disorders. Various miRNAs seemed to be key regulators in the muscle architecture, determining several modifications in muscle atrophy, skeletal muscle mechanical adaptation, lipid accumulation, and fibrosis in the presence of RC tears. The search was executed using PubMed, Medline, Scopus, and Cochrane Central. We included studies written in English that evaluated the role of miRNA in diagnosis, physiopathology, and potential therapeutic application of RC tendon injuries. We included 11 studies in this review. Many miRNAs emerged as key regulators in the pathogenesis of RC tears, inflammation, and muscle fatty degeneration. In fact, they are involved in the regulation of myogenesis, inflammatory cytokines, metalloproteases expression, muscle adaptation, adipogenesis, fibrogenic factors, and extracellular matrix synthesis. The gene expression may be altered in the pathological processes of tendon lesions. Therefore, the knowledge of all the gene mechanisms underlying RC tendinopathy should be achieved with future diagnostic and clinical studies.

PURPOSE: Patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are at high risk for thromboembolic events compared to non-surgical patients. Both anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents are used as antithrombotic prophylaxis in TKA. The aim of this review is to understand the role of aspirin in the prevention of thromboembolic events and to compare its efficacy and safety with the main anticoagulants used in antithromboembolic prophylaxis in TKA. METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines. An electronic systematic search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and the Cochrane Central Registry to evaluate studies that compared aspirin with other anticoagulants, in terms of deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism after TKA. The meta-analysis compared the rate of complications between aspirin and other anticoagulants. RESULTS: Thirteen studies were included in the systematic review for a total of 163,983 patients, and 10 studies were included in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis demonstrated no statistically significant differences between aspirin and other anticoagulants in terms of the rate of deep venous thrombosis (OR 0.93, 95% CI 0.81-1.08, p = 0.35) and pulmonary embolism (OR 0.89, 95% CI 0.56-1.41, p = 0.61). CONCLUSION: Aspirin is safe, effective, and not inferior to other main anticoagulants in preventing thromboembolic events following TKA.

Introduction: The role of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) in spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK) is still controversial. Materials and methods: We performed a systematic review to evaluate all available current literature on UKA in the setting of SONK. A comprehensive electronic research was performed using the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases with keywords related to SONK and knee arthroplasty. Studies were selected with predetermined inclusion criteria: 1) studies that specifically assessed SONK treated with UKA; 2) studies reporting implant survival rate and global clinical outcomes; 3) studies with a minimum follow up of 1 year. We excluded articles not written in English, articles that did not differentiate between primary and secondary osteonecrosis and articles published before 2000. Results: The overall research process produced 19 studies. We extrapolated data of a total of 717 unicompartimental knee arthroplasty procedures (1,39% lateral UKA, 98,61% medial UKA). Extracted data include years of follow-up, patient demographics, laterality of lesion, radiological findings, unicompartimental knee arthroplasty implants, reason of revision, revision rate, maximum knee flexion, knee clinical outcomes score, and Kaplan-Meier survival curves. The data collected show that UKA had acceptable survival rates as well as revision rates and good clinical outcomes both in the short- and long-term. Conclusion: UKA is an optimal treatment choice for primary SONK when correctly indicated in a carefully selected subset of patients, with no significant difference compared to osteoarthritis. Attention must be paid to distinguish the primary from secondary SONK, as the latter could lead to worse outcomes.

The Shoulder Disability Questionnaire (SDQ) is a Patient-Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) applied to evaluate shoulder surgery outcomes. The purpose of this study is to identify the accurate Minimal Clinically Important Difference (MCID), Substantial Clinical Benefit (SCB) and Patient Acceptable Symptom State (PASS) values for the SDQ score. A total of 35 patients (21 women and 16 men, mean age 76.6 ± 3.2 years) were followed up at 6 months postoperatively. To assess the patient's health satisfaction and symptoms, anchor questions were used. The MCID and SCB values of the SDQ score for patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair from inception to final follow-up were 40.8 and 55.6, respectively. A change of 40.8 in the SDQ score at 6 months after surgery shows that patients achieved a minimum clinically important improvement in their state of health, and a 55.6 change in the SDQ score reflects a substantial clinically important improvement. The PASS cut-off of the SDQ score at 6 months postoperatively ranged from 22.5 to 25.8. If an SDQ score of 22.5 or more is attained after surgery, the health condition can be recognized as acceptable by the majority of patients. These cut-offs will help with understanding specific patient results and allow clinicians to personally assess patient improvement after rotator cuff repair.

Meniscal extrusion (ME) is strongly correlated with cartilage wear and osteoarthritis (OA), be-cause of the altered kinematic and the decreased contact area between the tibia and femur. The aim of this narrative review is to analyze the process of ME, focusing on the possible causes, and to evaluate the correlation between ME and knee OA, in order to provide early diagnosis and treatments. Studies written in English that analyzed the causes of ME, provided indications re-garding diagnosis and treatment, and evaluated the relation between ME and early OA were in-cluded. Injuries, degeneration of the meniscal substance and meniscus root tears are associated with significantly increased ME. An extruded meniscus could be a manifestation of other pa-thologies such as disruption of coronary ligaments, cartilage loss, knee malalignment, ligament injuries, or OA. ME is strongly associated with osteoarthritis features, particularly with bone marrow lesion and cartilage damage. Magnetic resonance imaging represents the gold standard for the detection of ME. The severity of the medial meniscus extrusion may also affect healing af-ter repair, and meniscus extrusion is not completely reduced by meniscus posterior root tear re-pair. In this study, we proved that ME represents an important risk factor for early knee OA. We provided alternative theories of ME, such as meniscal fibers injury first and "dynamic extrusion of the menisci". The phenomenon of aging has been described as a new concept in the etiology of ME. Finally, we stated all the main techniques and characteristics of the diagnostic process, as well as the current knowledge in the therapeutic field.

The role of nutrition intervention in surgical settings is constantly developing and evolving. Immunonutrition represents a viable option to reduce perioperative and postoperative complications in surgical oncology. However, as far as we know, little research has been conducted in the orthopedic field. With this review, we aim to summarize the state of the art in the application of immune-enhanced compounds to surgical, orthopedic, and traumatic patients. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines were adopted. A comprehensive search was carried out using the PubMed (MEDLINE), EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases. All the studies dealing with immunonutrition fed to traumatic and orthopedic patients were pooled, the data were extracted, and the studies were discussed. A total of eight studies were included: six focused on trauma surgery and two on elective orthopedic surgery. The epidemiological characteristics of participants and the assessment of results were reported. Data were analyzed using R software (2020; R Core Team). Based on the current available literature, a positive impact of immunonutrition in orthopedic and trauma surgical settings was registered. All studies analyzed showed the favorable impact of the immunonutrition diet on clinical outcomes. The full effect of this type of nutrition and its different applications in the orthopedic and traumatic fields should be critically investigated through more extensive randomized controlled trials.

Insufficiently treated shoulder pain may cause mental disturbances, including depression and anxiety. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) is a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) that aims to identify depression and anxiety in patients in nonpsychiatric wards. The aim of this study was to identify the minimum clinically important difference (MCID) and patient acceptable symptom state (PASS) scores for the HADS in a cohort of individuals with rotator cuff disease. Using the HADS, participants' degrees of anxiety and depression were assessed at inception and at their final assessment 6 months after surgery. To calculate the MCID and the PASS, distribution and anchor approaches were employed. The MCID from inception to final assessment was 5.7 on the HADS, 3.8 on the HADS-A, and 3.3 on the HADS-D. A 5.7 amelioration on the HADS score, 3.8 on the HADS-A, and 3.3 on the HADS-D, from inception to final assessment, meant that patients had reached a clinically meaningful improvement in their symptom state. The PASS was 7 on the HADS, 3.5 on the HADS-A, and 3.5 on the HADS-D; therefore, for the majority of patients, a score of at least 7 on the HADS, 3.5 on the HADS-A, and 3.5 on the HADS-D at final evaluation was considered a satisfactory symptom state.

Background: The appropriate surgical treatment option for young and active patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty for arthritis remains questionable. Pyrolitic carbon (pyrocarbon) has been shown to improve implant longevity and decrease wear when in contact with cartilage or bone. The present systematic review aimed to evaluate clinical and radiological outcomes as well as the survivorship of pyrocarbon shoulder implants. Methods: The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines were followed. A systematic search was performed using the MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane Library databases. All the studies dealing with the use of pyrolitic shoulder implants were pooled, data of interest were extracted and statistically analyzed through meta-analysis. Results: A total of 9 studies were included for a total of 477 shoulders treated. The overall mean rate of survival of the implants was 93.4 ± 5.8% and 80% ± 26.5% at 2 years and final follow up, respectively, while resulting 82.4% ± 22.1% and 92.3% ± 3.5% for PISA (pyrocarbon interposition shoulder arthroplasty) and hemi-arthroplasty/hemi-resurfacing, respectively. Conclusions: Pyrolitic carbon shoulder implants showed good survivorship and clinical outcomes at an early to early-midterm follow-up. More studies and better-designed trials are needed in order to enrich the evidence on long-term outcomes and comparison with other shoulder replacement options for young and active patients. BACKGROUND: Tenodesis of the long head of the biceps (LHB) is commonly undertaken during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. We assessed the clinical and structural outcomes after high arthroscopic tenodesis (HAT) or mini-open subpectoral tenodesis (ST). We hypothesized that the clinical and structural results after HAT and ST are similar. METHODS: We included 40 patients with rotator cuff tear and LHB tendinopathy. Twenty patients (7 women and 13 men; mean age: 57.9 years; range: 56-63 years) were treated using HAT, and 20 patients (8 women and 12 men; mean age: 58.5 years; range: 55-64 years) were treated using ST. Functional evaluation was performed preoperatively and at 6 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery, using the Constant Murley Score and Simple Shoulder Test scores; the LHB was evaluated using the LHB score. A Visual Analogue Scale was administered to all patients preoperatively and 2 days after surgery. RESULTS: The postoperative total and pain subscale's Constant scores were significantly higher in the ST group. Moreover, 2 LHB score values were significantly different between the groups. The postoperative LHB total score in the ST and HAT groups averaged 86.9 ± 4.1 (mean ± SD) points and 73.3 ± 6.4 points, respectively. The Pain/Cramps subscale in the ST and HAT groups averaged 47.1 ± 5.9 and 33.2 ± 4.6 points, respectively. The 2 groups showed no difference in Visual Analogue Scale values (5.5 in the HAT group; 5.8 in the ST group) postoperatively. One patient in the HAT group reported a secondary onset of Popeye deformity. CONCLUSION: Both high arthroscopic and mini-open ST of the LHB tendon produced reliably good functional results, but the ST group was associated with better postoperative clinical outcomes.

PURPOSE: One of the most frequent concerns of the increasing number of patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty is the possibility to resume sport after surgery. This systematic review determined the rate of return to sport after total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) and hemiarthroplasty (HA). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines were followed to perform this systematic review. A systematic electronic search was performed using the PubMed (MEDLINE), EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases. All the studies analyzing the rates of reverse shoulder arthroplasties were pooled; data were extracted and statistically analyzed. Only studies with at least 10 adult patients recruited were considered. All studies had to relate return to sport after TSA or HA. RESULTS: A total of 76 studies were included for a total of 694 patients. The mean age and average follow-up were, respectively, 64.5 years (range: 24 to 92 y) and 4.5 years (range: 0.5 to 12 y). The mean rate of return to sport ranged from 49.3% to 96.4%. The mean time to resume sports was 8.1 months. The overall rate of return to sport after the procedures, according to a random effect model, was 83%. The mean level of sports at the time of the survey was worsened in 9.4% (±2.82%), improved or reported from good to excellent in 55.6% (±13.6%), and did not change in 40% (±1.4) of patients. CONCLUSIONS: On the basis of current available data, return to sports after TSA and HA is possible and is highly frequent. The subjective level of practice does not change or improve in most patients. More studies and better designed trials are needed to enrich the evidence on specific sport recovery after the procedure.
