RESUMO

Effectiveness of reflex therapy on the dynamics of cognitive impairment was assessed during the observation and treatment of 77 patients with chronic vertebrobasilar insufficiency. The inclusion of acupuncture and biodynamic correction in the complex therapy of patients with chronic vertebrobasilar insufficiency increases the effectiveness of integrated treatment compared with conventional therapy that was confirmed by neuropsychological studies of patients with discirculatory encephalopathy caused by vertebral pathology.

RESUMO

This study included 500 patients who had undergone extensive liver resection and transplantation of whom 250 were treated with the use of remedial gymnastics, physiotherapeutic factors, and massage. The positive dynamics of objective characteristics of the patients' condition. None of the treated patients showed a negative response to the proposed program of medical rehabilitation and activation throughout the early postoperative period.

RESUMO

Forty-four patients with low back pain caused by a radix syndrome (mean age 46.18±9.11 years) have been examined. Patients have been stratified by sex. The pain syndrome has been assessed in 1st, 10th and 21st by the VAS, pressure pain measurement and laboratory tests for measuring neurotransmitter levels. It has been shown that women endure a pain worse as assessed not only by the questionnaires but also by the pressure pain measurement especially at night. The analysis of blood serum revealed higher levels of ß-endorphin, serotonin, dopamine that were correlated (р<0.05) with the pain level, their amount decreasing with the reduction of pain.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture in combined treatment of psychoautonomic neurotic disorders in children. 163 children, mean age 12.5 years, were included in the study. Autonomic dysfunction score, clinoorthostatic test, sinocarotid test and heart rate variability analysis were used to assess the efficacy of different therapeutic strategies applied: complex (acupuncture + conventional drug treatment)--group 1; acupuncture treatment--group 2, and conventional drug treatment--group 3. After 2 months of treatment, a reduction of autonomic dysfunction score and an increase of percentage of patients with normal clinoorthostatic and sinocarotid tests were revealed in all the groups, being most evident in group 1. Heart rate spectral variability changed in patients given acupuncture treatment (groups 1 and 2). Relative augmentation of sympathetic activity was observed in patients with initial vagotonia, while those with initial symphaticotonia exhibited a relative parasympathetic activity increase. Thus, acupuncture exerts beneficial effects on functioning of autonomic nervous system. The method may be used either independently, or in addition to conventional drug treatment of psychoautonomic neurotic disorders in children.

RESUMO

A total of 46 patients who had sustained myocardial infarction, including those with concurrent arterial hypertension were examined at polyclinic rehabilitation. The patients with myocardial infarction and those with myocardial and concurrent arterial hypertension proved to belong to various general populations having specific features of formation of the phenomenon of structural adaptative stabilization (SAS). There were hemodynamic variations to a single procedure of manual therapy in relation to the extent of cardiac lesion. The single procedure of manual therapy was found to affect the patients with myocardial infarction concurrent with arterial hypertension and to transfer the latters to the general myocardial patient population without arterial hypertension. The manual impact on the vertebrogenic links of myocardial infarction pathogenesis favour the formation of the SAS phenomenon.

RESUMO

The authors have developed and validated algorithms, programs, regimens and techniques of manual and instrumental treatment which produced positive effects in 99% of patients with neurological syndromes of spinal affections. The criteria of the treatment discontinuation were alleviation of painful syndrome by 25-50%. This occurred, as a rule, after 3-4 sessions. The course averaged 10 sessions and more. The treatment was discontinued after stabilization of subjective improvement.

RESUMO

The article deals with the development of a technique for the treatment of neurodystrophic syndromes of cervical osteochondrosis precluding the use of pharmacologic drugs. The technique involving microacupuncture, originally designed manual therapeutic techniques and corporal acupuncture was applied to 87 patients with neurodystrophic syndromes of cervical osteochondrosis including patients with brachioclavicular periarthrosis, brachial epicondylitis, styloiditis. The technique made it possible to obtain a therapeutic effect 1.5 to 2 times faster than using the conventional methods in these groups of patients.

RESUMO

Using electromyography the authors studied the functional status of the segmentary apparatus of the spinal cord in 58 patients with compression of S1-radicle secondary to vertebral osteochondrosis. The findings obtained included changes in the interferential EMG and reciprocal reflexes and decreased reflectory activity of alpha-motoneurons predominantly on the side of radicular involvement with the simultaneous intensification of gamma-loop effect. Acupuncture was followed by pain alleviation and normalization of the functional activity of the segmentary apparatus of the spinal cord mainly at the expense of this activity reduction on the healthy side. Clinical recovery was observed following the compensation of neuroreflectory activity of the segmentary centres on a new functional level. The advisability of the use of acupuncture in the treatment of the radicular syndrome of lumbar osteochondrosis is justified.

RESUMO

An analysis of 117 cases of acute closed craniocerebral trauma (CCCT) of a mild degree, the time-course of the EEG, EchoEG and REG findings in the process of treatment has shown that mild CCCT was expressed clinically in CSF hypertension, as well as vegetovascular and asthenoneurotic syndromes. The detection at the early stages of the injury of the leading clinical syndrome contributes to the conduction of purposeful therapeutic measures. A positive time-course of some electrophysiological parameters indicates the normalization of vegetovascular dysfunctions under the impact of acupuncture, which permits the use of this method in the multiple modality treatment of CCCT in the acute period.

RESUMO

The central and peripheral hemodynamics was examined in patients with the radicular syndrome of lumbar osteochondrosis who were treated by reflexotherapy methods. In addition to the direct favourable effect of microacupuncture and classical acupuncture on the circulatory system a longer duration of the positive effect of microacupuncture was revealed. An interconnection between the favourable changes of the patient's state and the improvement of the systemic and local circulation was noted.

RESUMO

Results of clinical and neurophysiological observations of 96 patients treated by the new method of microacupuncture are presented. This method is a modification of classical acupuncture, and consists of implantation of a specially designed micro-needle into the skin for a long time (one to three weeks). Possible mechanisms of the effects of this therapy method on the body are discussed. Recommendations on practical use of the microacupuncture method for treating vertebrogenic radicular syndromes are given.
