RESUMO
Laying ducks in cage environments face various stressors, including the fear of novelty, which negatively affects their behaviour and performance. The reasons behind the variation in behaviour under identical stress conditions are not well understood. This study investigated how different behaviours affect production performance, immune response, antioxidant capabilities, adrenal gene expression, and serum metabolite profiles in caged laying ducks subjected to the same stressor. Overall, 42-week-old laying ducks (N = 300) were selected, fed for 60 days, and simultaneously underwent behavioural tests. Based on their behavioural responses, 24 ducks were chosen and categorised into two groups: high-active avoidance (HAA) and low-active avoidance (LAA). The study utilised phenotypic, genetic, and metabolomic analyses, coupled with bioinformatics, to identify crucial biological processes, genes, and metabolites. The results indicated that ΔW (BW gain) and average daily egg weight (ADEW) were significantly lower in the HAA group compared to the LAA group (P < 0.05). By contrast, the feed-to-egg ratio was higher in the HAA group than in the LAA group (P < 0.05). Levels of serum immunoglobulin A, total antioxidant capacity, and the activities of enzymes like superoxide dismutase and catalase (CAT) were significantly lower in the HAA than in the LAA group (P < 0.05), whereas serum ACTH levels were significantly higher in HAA than in the LAA group (P < 0.05). The adrenal transcriptome analysis revealed 148 differentially expressed genes in the HAA group, with 97 up-regulated and 51 down-regulated. Moreover, enrichment analysis highlighted significant differences in two metabolic pathways: neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction and oxidative phosphorylation (P < 0.05). Serum metabolomics identified 11 differentially accumulated metabolites between the groups, with variations in up and down-regulation. Integrative analysis of phenotype, transcriptome, and metabolome data showed a strong correlation between the exosome component 3 (EXOSC3) gene, phenotypic traits, and differential metabolites. Thus, we deduced that the differences in average daily egg weight among ducks could be linked to variations in gabapentin and EXOSC3 gene expressions, affecting serum CAT levels.
RESUMO
Objective: To evaluate oncological and reproductive outcomes of women ≤40 years undergoing fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) for stage â ¡ or â ¢ borderline ovarian tumor (BOT). Methods: The patients with BOT and ≤40 years old with stage â ¡-â ¢ BOT who underwent FSS enrolled from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between January 2011 and March 2023 were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical data and follow-up results were obtained and analyzed. The univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression analysis were used to explore high-risk factors associated with prognosis. Additionally, pregnancy outcomes were also analyzed. Results: (1) A total of 79 patients with stage â ¡-â ¢ BOT who have been treated with FSS were conducted, with an average age of (27.5±6.7) years old. The median tumor maximum diameter were 10.4 cm (range: 4.8-90.0 cm). The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage was stage â ¡ in 45 cases and stage â ¢ in 34 cases. According to the pathological types, there were 48 cases of serous tumor, 21 cases of mucinous tumor, 1 case of endometrioid tumor, and 9 cases of mixed types. There were 41 cases of unilateral ovarian involvement, 38 cases of bilateral ovarian involvement. There were 5 cases of microinvasion, 17 cases of micropapillary subtype. Extra-ovarian invasive implants were found in 5 cases, and there were 31 cases of merged ascites. (2) Tumor outcomes: the median follow-up time from primary cytoreduction were 58 months (range: 8-146 months). At the end of the observation period, 24 cases (30%, 24/79) recurred, among them 5 cases had two recurrences and 2 cases had three recurrences. There were 2 cases (3%, 2/79) of death and 1 case (1%, 1/79) of survival with tumor. (3) Analysis of prognostic risk factors: the results of univariate analysis showed that mucinous tumor, tumor maximum diameter >13.15 cm, FIGO stage â ¢, merged ascites, micropapillary subtype, invasive implantation, and bilateral ovarian involvement were independent risk factors (all P<0.05) for disease-free survival (DFS). FIGO stage â ¢ (HR=4.555, 95%CI: 1.525-13.607; P=0.007) and micropapillary subtype (HR=2.396, 95%CI: 1.003-5.725; P=0.049) were found to be related to DFS through the multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression analysis. (4) Pregnancy outcomes: among the patients with fertility intentions 36 cases (46%,36/79), 29 cases (81%, 29/36) had successful pregnancies, and 27 cases (75%, 27/36) had successful births. Conclusions: Patients with stage â ¡-â ¢ BOT underwent FSS have favorable survival and pregnancy rates. Micropapillary subtypes and FIGO staging (stage â ¢) are the significant risk factors of DFS.

OBJECTIVES: Sexual minorities may be more vulnerable to mental disorders. Previous studies have found associations between diet and depression, but no studies have focused on the interaction between nutrition-related parameters and sexual orientation regarding depression. This study aims to explore the interaction between nutrition-related parameters and sexual orientation regarding depression. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional analysis using NHANES 2007-2016 data. METHODS: This study utilized data from NHANES 2007-2016, with 11,065 participants involved. Nutrition-related parameters were evaluated using the healthy eating index-2015 (HEI-2015) and the dietary inflammation index (DII), while depression was obtained through Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Logistic regression and stratified analysis of subgroups were used in this study. RESULTS: Compared to those who consumed healthy and anti-inflammatory diets, the ORs for depression in groups consuming unhealthy and pro-inflammatory diets were 1.366 (95%CI:1.073,1.738) and 1.652 (95%CI:1.345,2.028), respectively. Sexual minorities have a higher risk of depression than heterosexuals. There is an interaction effect (P = 0.037) between HEI-2015 and sexual orientation on depression, while it was not found in DII. Subgroup analysis indicated that the interaction between sexual orientation and HEI-2015 persisted in males (P = 0.024), but not in females. CONCLUSION: Both diet and sexual orientation had impacts on depression. There was an interaction between HEI-2015 and sexual orientation on depression, and this association was different by gender. Sexual minorities who are Gay/lesbian, Bisexual, and Something else are at higher risk for depression, and adopting healthy eating patterns and anti-inflammatory diets that are consistent with the recommendations of the USDA may appropriately reduce the risk of depression.
RESUMO
Objective: To analyze the sensitivity of cytoplasmic light-chain immunofluorescence with fluorescence in situ hybridization in bone marrow smears (new FISH) for detecting cytogenetic abnormalities in multiple myeloma (MM) . Methods: 42 MM patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from April 2022 to October 2023 were enrolled. The patients with MM were detected by new FISH and CD138 immunomagnetic bead sorting technology combined with FISH (MACS-FISH) or cytoplasmic immunoglobulin FISH (cIg-FISH) to analyze cytogenetic detection results using combination probes which included 1q21/1p32, p53, IgH, IgH/FGFR3 [t (4;14) ], and IgH/MAF [t (14;16) ]. Results: In 23 patients with MM, the abnormality detection rates of cIg-FISH and new FISH were 95.7% and 100.0%, respectively (P>0.05). The detection rates of 1q21+, 1p32-, p53 deletion, and IgH abnormalities by cIg-FISH and new FISH were consistent, which were 52.2%, 8.7%, 17.4%, and 65.2%, respectively. The results of the two methods further performed with t (4;14) and t (14;16) in patients with IgH abnormalities were identical. The positive rate of t (4;14) was 26.7%, whereas t (14;16) was not detected. In 19 patients with MM, the abnormality detection rates of MACS-FISH and new FISH were 73.7% and 63.2%, respectively (P>0.05). The positivity rate of 1q21+, 1p32- and IgH abnormalities detected by MACS-FISH were slightly higher than those detected by new FISH; however, the differences were not statistically significant (all P values >0.05) . Conclusion: The new FISH method has a higher detection rate of cytogenetic abnormalities in patients with MM and has good consistency with MACS-FISH and cIg-FISH.

Objective: To measure the overall and lobulated volume of the liver with different degrees of liver fibrosis and to further observe pathological changes such as liver microvasculature, hepatocyte apoptosis, and regeneration in order to understand the macroscopic volume changes of the liver during liver fibrosis and its relationship with liver tissue microscopic pathology in patients with chronic liver disease. Methods: 53 patients with chronic hepatitis B, alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and drug-induced chronic liver disease who underwent both liver biopsy tissue and abdominal magnetic resonance imaging were collected. Patients were divided into early (F1-2), middle (F3-4), and late (F5-6) in accordance with the Ishak fibrosis stage and Masson stain. The liver and spleen volumes were measured using ITK-SNAP software. CD31 immunohistochemical staining was used to reflect intrahepatic angiogenesis. Ki67 and HNF-4α multiplex immunohistochemical staining were used to reflect hepatocyte regeneration. GS staining was used to determine parenchymal extinction lesions. TUNEL staining was used to observe hepatocyte apoptosis. Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between liver volume changes and liver histopathological changes. Results: As liver fibrosis progressed, the total liver volume and right lobe liver volume gradually decreased (P<0.05), while the spleen volume gradually increased (P<0.05). The expression of CD31 and GS gradually increased (P<0.05), and the expression of Ki67 first increased and then decreased (P<0.05). The positivity rate of CD31 was negatively correlated with the right lobe liver volume (r=-0.609, P<0.001) and the total liver volume (r=-0.363, P=0.017). The positivity rate of Ki67 was positively correlated with the right lobe liver volume (r=0.423, P=0.018), while the positivity rate of apoptotic cells was significantly negatively correlated with the total liver volume (r=-0.860, P<0.001). The positivity rate of GS was negatively correlated with the right lobe liver volume (r=-0.440, P=0.002), and the number of PELs was negatively correlated with RV (r=-0.476, P=0.013). The CD31 positive staining area was negatively correlated with the Ki67 positive staining area(r=-0.511, P=0.009). Conclusion: As liver fibrosis progresses, patients with chronic liver disease have a depletion in total liver volume and right lobe liver volume, and this is mainly in correlation with fewer liver cells and liver tissue microvasculature disorders.

OBJECTIVES: The quality of care for patients may be partly determined by the time they are admitted to the hospital. This study was conducted to explore the effect of admission time and describe the pattern and magnitude of weekly variation in the quality of patient care. STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective observational study. METHODS: Data were collected from the Medical Care Quality Management and Control System for Specific (Single) Diseases in China. A total of 238,122 patients treated for acute ischemic stroke between January 2015 and December 2017 were included. The primary outcomes were completion of the ten process indicators and in-hospital death. RESULTS: The quality of in-hospital care varied according to hospital arrival time. We identified several patterns of variation across the days of the week. In the first pattern, the quality of four indicators, such as stroke physicians within 15 min, was lowest for arrivals between 08:00 and 11:59, increased throughout the day, and peaked for arrivals between 20:00 and 23:59 or 00:00 and 03:59. In the second pattern, the quality of four indicators, such as the application of antiplatelet therapy within 48 h, was not significantly different between days and weeks. There was no difference in in-hospital mortality between the different admission times. CONCLUSIONS: The effect of admission time on the quality of in-hospital care of patients with acute ischemic stroke showed several diurnal patterns. Detecting the times when quality is relatively low may lead to quality improvements in health care. Quality improvement should also focus on reducing diurnal temporal variation.

Protein concentration (PC) is an essential characteristic of cells and organelles; it determines the extent of macromolecular crowding effects and serves as a sensitive indicator of cellular health. A simple and direct way to quantify PC is provided by brightfield-based transport-of-intensity equation (TIE) imaging combined with volume measurements. However, since TIE is based on geometric optics, its applicability to micrometer-sized particles is not clear. Here, we show that TIE can be used on particles with sizes comparable to the wavelength. At the same time, we introduce a new ImageJ plugin that allows TIE image processing without resorting to advanced mathematical programs. To convert TIE data to PC, knowledge of particle volumes is essential. The volumes of bacteria or other isolated particles can be measured by displacement of an external absorbing dye ("transmission-through-dye" or TTD microscopy), and for spherical intracellular particles, volumes can be estimated from their diameters. We illustrate the use of TIE on Escherichia coli, mammalian nucleoli, and nucleolar fibrillar centers. The method is easy to use and achieves high spatial resolution.

Objective: To study the correlation between the copy number variations of CCND1 gene and chromosome 11 and their associations with clinicopathologic features in acral melanoma. Methods: Thirty-three acral melanoma cases diagnosed at the Department of Pathology of Peking University Third Hospital, Beijing, China from January 2018 to August 2021 were collected. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was used to detect the copy number of CCND1 gene and centromere of chromosome 11. The relationship between the copy numbers of CCND1 and chromosome 11 centromere, and the correlation between CCND1 copy number and clinicopathologic characteristics were analyzed. Results: There were 15 male and 18 female patients, with an age ranging from 22-86 years. 63.6% (21/33) of the patients had an increased CCND1 gene copy number. 21.2% (7/33) of patients with increased CCND1 copy number had an accompanying chromosome 11 centromere copy number increase. 27.3% (9/33) of the cases had a low copy number of CCND1 gene, and 4 of them (4/33, 12.1%) were accompanied by chromosome 11 centromere copy number increase. 36.4% (12/33) of the cases had a high copy number of CCND1 gene, and 3 (3/33, 9.1%) of them were accompanied by chromosome 11 centromere copy number increase. No cases with CCND1 low copy number increase showed CCND1/CEP11 ratio greater than 2.00. The 11 cases with CCND1 high copy number increase showed CCND1/CEP11 ratio greater than or equal to 2.00. However, there was no significant correlation between CCND1 copy number increase and any of the examined clinicopathologic features such as age, sex, histological type, Breslow thickness, ulcer and Clark level. Conclusions: CCND1 copy number increase is a significant molecular alteration in acral melanoma. In some cases, CCND1 copy number increase may be accompanied by the copy number increase of chromosome 11. For these cases the copy number increase in CCND1 gene may be a result of the copy number change of chromosome 11.

Objective: To analyze the status of respiratory pathogen detection and the clinical features in children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP). Methods: A prospective, multicenter study was conducted to collect clinical data, including medical history, laboratory examinations and multiplex PCR tests of children diagnosed with MPP from 4 hospitals in China between November 15th and December 20th, 2023. The multiplex PCR results and clinical characteristics of MPP children in different regions were analyzed. The children were divided into severe and mild groups according to the severity of the disease. Patients in the severe group were further divided into Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) alone and Multi-pathogen co-detection groups based on whether other pathogens were detected besides MP, to analyze the influence of respiratory pathogen co-detection rate on the severity of the disease. Mann-Whitney rank sum test and Chi-square test were used to compare data between independent groups. Results: A total of 298 children, 136 males and 162 females, were enrolled in this study, including 204 children in the severe group with an onset age of 7.0 (6.0, 8.0) years, and 94 children in the mild group with an onset age of 6.5 (4.0, 7.8) years. The level of C-reactive protein, D-dimer, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) were significantly higher (10.0 (5.0, 18.0) vs. 5.0 (5.0, 7.5) mg/L, 0.6 (0.4, 1.1) vs. 0.5 (0.3, 0.6) mg/L, 337 (286, 431) vs. 314 (271, 393) U/L, Z=2.02, 2.50, 3.05, all P<0.05), and the length of hospitalization was significantly longer in the severe group compared with those in mild group (6.0 (6.0, 7.0) vs. 5.0 (4.0, 6.0) d, Z=4.37, P<0.05). The time from onset to admission in severe MPP children was significantly shorter than that in mild MPP children (6.0 (5.0, 9.5) vs. 9.0 (7.0, 13.0) d, Z=2.23, P=0.026). All patients completed the multiplex PCR test, with 142 cases (47.7%) MPP children detected with 21 pathogens including adenovirus 25 cases (8.4%), human coronavirus 23 cases (7.7%), rhinovirus 21 cases (7.0%), Streptococcus pneumoniae 21 cases (7.0%), influenza A virus 18 cases (6.0%). The pathogens with the highest detection rates in Tianjin, Shanghai, Wenzhou and Chengdu were Staphylococcus aureus at 10.7% (8/75), adenovirus at 13.0% (10/77), adenovirus at 15.3% (9/59), and both rhinovirus and Haemophilus influenzae at 11.5% (10/87) each. The multi-pathogen co-detection rate in severe MPP children was significantly higher than that in mild MPP group (52.9% (108/204) vs. 36.2% (34/94), χ²=10.62,P=0.005). Among severe MPP children, there are 89 cases in the multi-pathogen co-detection group and 73 cases in the simple MPP group. The levels of LDH, D-dimer and neutrophil counts in the multi-pathogen co-detection group were significantly higher than those in the simple MPP group (348 (284, 422) vs. 307 (270, 358) U/L, 0.8 (0.5, 1.5) vs. 0.6 (0.4, 1.0) mg/L, 4.99 (3.66, 6.89)×109 vs. 4.06 (2.91, 5.65)×109/L, Z=5.17, 4.99, 6.11, all P<0.05). Conclusions: The co-detection rate of respiratory pathogens, LDH and D-dimer in children with severe MPP were higher than those with mild MPP. Among severe MPP children the stress response of children in co-detection group was more serious than that of children with simple MPP.

Three ΔI=1 bands with the πg_{9/2}âνg_{9/2} configuration have been identified in _{35}^{74}Br_{39}. Angular distribution, linear polarization, and lifetime measurements were performed to determine the multipolarity, type, mixing ratio, and absolute transition probability of the transitions. By comparing these experimental observations with the corresponding fingerprints and the quantum particle rotor model calculations, the second and third lowest bands are, respectively, suggested as the chiral partner and one-phonon wobbling excitation built on the yrast band. The evidence indicates the first chiral wobbler in nuclei.
RESUMO
AIM: To determine whether net water uptake (NWU) based on automated software evaluation could predict futile recanalisation in patients with acute anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion (LVO). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with acute anterior circulation LVO undergoing mechanical thrombectomy in Jinling Hospital were evaluated retrospectively. NWU and other baseline data were evaluated by performing univariate and multivariate analyses. The primary endpoint was 90-day modified Rankin scale score ≥3. A nomogram to predict poor clinical outcomes was developed based on multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: Overall, 135 patients who underwent thrombectomy with a TICI grade ≥2b were enrolled. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, the following factors were identified as independent predictors of futile recanalisation: age (odds ratio [OR]: 1.055, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.004-1.110, p=0.035), female (OR: 0.289, 95 % CI: 0.098-0.850, p=0.024), hypertension (OR: 3.182, 95 % CI: 1.160-8.728, p=0.025), high blood glucose level (OR: 1.36, 95 % CI: 1.087-1.701, p=0.007), admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score (OR: 1.082, 95 % CI: 1.003-1.168, p=0.043), and NWU (OR: 1.312, 95 % CI: 1.038-1.659, p=0.023). CONCLUSIONS: NWU based on Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography (CT) Score (ASPECTS) could be used to predict the occurrence of futile recanalisation in patients with acute anterior circulation LVO ischaemic stroke.

Objective: To investigate the concern about pollen broadcasting in Chinese population from multiple dimensions and to understand the information about allergic rhinitis (AR) in China by analyzing related factors. Methods: From March 1 to September 30, 2022, a large-scale multi-center cross-sectional survey was conducted based on the Questionnaire Star platform in 21 Chinese hospitals. A total of 7 056 subjects from 7 regions in China: Northeast, North, East, Central, South, Southwest, and Northwest China were included. Basic characteristics (including social demographic characteristics and disease characteristics of AR patients), concern about pollen broadcasting, the willingness of pollen-induced AR (PiAR) patients to receive pollen broadcasting, and the treatment satisfaction rate of AR patients were collected. The chi-square test, multivariate linear regression model, and Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the concern about pollen broadcasting in the Chinese population and related factors from multiple dimensions. Results: Among 7 056 subjects, 23.02% were concerned about pollen broadcasting. Among 3 176 self-reported AR and 1 019 PiAR patients, 25.60% and 39.16% were concerned about pollen broadcasting, respectively, which was higher than that of non-AR or non-PiAR subjects (χ2 value was 21.74 and 175.11, respectively, both P<0.001). Among AR patients, the proportion of spring and autumn allergen-positive patients concerned about pollen broadcasting was higher than that in perennial allergen-positive patients (χ2 value was 20.90 and 19.51, respectively, both P<0.001). The proportion of AR patients with asthma, sinusitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases was higher than those without complications (χ2 value was 50.83, 21.97, 56.78, 7.62, respectively, all P<0.05). The proportion of AR patients in North China who could find pollen broadcasting locally was 31.01%, significantly higher than those in other regions (all P<0.05). Multivariate linear regression model analysis showed that among PiAR patients, those with higher per capita household income and higher AR disease cognition levels had been concerned about pollen broadcasting in the past, and those complicated with allergic conjunctivitis had stronger intention to receive pollen broadcasting (B value was 0.24, 0.13, 0.66, 0.47, respectively, all P<0.05). The higher the disease cognition level of PiAR patients, the stronger their willingness to actively participate in treatment (R2=0.72, P<0.001). Only 18.89% of AR patients felt satisfied with the treatment effect. Logistic regression analysis showed that in AR patients, the treatment satisfaction rate was significantly higher among those concerned about pollen broadcasting compared to those who were not (OR=1.83, P<0.001). Conclusions: Currently, the dissemination of pollen broadcasting in China is hindered by various factors such as disease cognition level. The treatment satisfaction among AR patients remains unsatisfactory.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article was to explore the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) and to provide valuable information for public health professionals and policymakers to improve quality of life and reduce mortality. STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using data pooled from the 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). METHODS: This study involved 102,393 US adult participants from the 2020 BRFSS. The zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) and mixed graphical model (MGM) models were used to explore the effect of ACEs on CCI and the interaction between ACEs. RESULTS: In the count part of the model (CCI ≥0), sexual abuse had the strongest association with CCI (relative risk [RR] = 1.111, P < 0.001). In the logit part of the model (CCI = 0), the likelihood of having CCI equal to 0 decreased by 23.0% for household substance abuse, which was the highest percentage decrease for all ACEs. Compared to those with ACE scores equal to 0, individuals with ACE scores ≥4 have an expected CCI RR of 1.222, and the likelihood of having CCI equal to 0 decreased by 50.2%. Household substance abuse and incarceration history in the home had the strongest association among interactions of ACEs (0.85). CONCLUSIONS: Associations between ACEs and CCI were observed in this study, and these associations differed between genders. The findings of this study provide data to design strategies for disease prevention and improvement of quality of life.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) pretreatment before total hysterectomy for adenomyosis patients with uterine volume ≥12 gestational weeks and moderate or severe anemia. Methods: From January 2018 to March 2023, 689 patients who underwent total hysterectomy for adenomyosis in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were retrospectively analyzed. According to the preoperative medication, they were divided into study group (127 cases) and control group (562 cases). Patients in the study group underwent GnRH-a pretreatment for 3 cycles before surgery, and the control group received operation directly. SPSS 26.0 software was used to perform 1â¶1 matching for the two groups of patients through the propensity score matching method. Matching variables included age, body mass index, gravidity, parity, history of pelvic and abdominal surgery, menstrual cycle, menstrual period, dysmenorrhea score, initial diagnosis of cancer antigen 125 (CA125), uterine volume and hemoglobin value. The dysmenorrhea score, uterine volume, hemoglobin value and CA125 level before and after GnRH-a pretreatment in the study group were compared. And the duration of operation, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative white blood cell count, perioperative blood transfusion cases, postoperative disease rate, duration of hospitalization, total hospitalization cost between the two groups were compared. Results: With propensity score matching, 119 patients in the study group and 119 patients in the control group were finally enrolled in this study. In the study group, before and after the treatment with GnRH-a, the dysmenorrhea score (7.4±1.7 vs 5.6±1.8), uterine volume [(362±160) vs (233±126) cm3], hemoglobin value [(74.1±10.7) vs (102.5±13.5) g/L], and CA125 level [(104±76) vs (64±51) kU/L] were statistically different (all P<0.05). There were statistical differences of operation time [(86±18) vs (116±31) minutes], intraoperative blood loss [(24±9) vs (43±22) ml], white blood cell count after 1 day of operation [(9.80±0.10)×109/L vs (9.90±0.10)×109/L], number of perioperative blood transfusion case [5.9% (7/119) vs 61.3% (73/119)], postoperative disease rate [5.0% (6/119) vs 16.0% (19/119)], hospitalization duration [(7.1±1.6) vs (7.9±1.6) days], and total hospitalization cost [(35 323±5 275) vs (37 159±5 640) yuan] between the study group and the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: The pretreatment of using GnRH-a before total hysterectomy for adenomyosis patients with uterine volume ≥12 gestational weeks and moderate or severe anemia is not only conducive to improving dysmenorrhea, signs of anemia, reducing uterine volume, but also conducive to the implementation of surgery, reducing intraoperative and postoperative complications, and reducing hospital costs.
