RESUMO

Multimodal deep learning plays a pivotal role in supporting the processing and learning of diverse data types within the realm of artificial intelligence generated content (AIGC). However, most photonic neuromorphic processors for deep learning can only handle a single data modality (either vision or audio) due to the lack of abundant parameter training in optical domain. Here, we propose and demonstrate a trainable diffractive optical neural network (TDONN) chip based on on-chip diffractive optics with massive tunable elements to address these constraints. The TDONN chip includes one input layer, five hidden layers, and one output layer, and only one forward propagation is required to obtain the inference results without frequent optical-electrical conversion. The customized stochastic gradient descent algorithm and the drop-out mechanism are developed for photonic neurons to realize in situ training and fast convergence in the optical domain. The TDONN chip achieves a potential throughput of 217.6 tera-operations per second (TOPS) with high computing density (447.7 TOPS/mm2), high system-level energy efficiency (7.28 TOPS/W), and low optical latency (30.2 ps). The TDONN chip has successfully implemented four-class classification in different modalities (vision, audio, and touch) and achieve 85.7% accuracy on multimodal test sets. Our work opens up a new avenue for multimodal deep learning with integrated photonic processors, providing a potential solution for low-power AI large models using photonic technology.

RESUMO

Integrated microwave photonics (MWP) is an intriguing technology for the generation, transmission and manipulation of microwave signals in chip-scale optical systems1,2. In particular, ultrafast processing of analogue signals in the optical domain with high fidelity and low latency could enable a variety of applications such as MWP filters3-5, microwave signal processing6-9 and image recognition10,11. An ideal integrated MWP processing platform should have both an efficient and high-speed electro-optic modulation block to faithfully perform microwave-optic conversion at low power and also a low-loss functional photonic network to implement various signal-processing tasks. Moreover, large-scale, low-cost manufacturability is required to monolithically integrate the two building blocks on the same chip. Here we demonstrate such an integrated MWP processing engine based on a 4 inch wafer-scale thin-film lithium niobate platform. It can perform multipurpose tasks with processing bandwidths of up to 67 GHz at complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS)-compatible voltages. We achieve ultrafast analogue computation, namely temporal integration and differentiation, at sampling rates of up to 256 giga samples per second, and deploy these functions to showcase three proof-of-concept applications: solving ordinary differential equations, generating ultra-wideband signals and detecting edges in images. We further leverage the image edge detector to realize a photonic-assisted image segmentation model that can effectively outline the boundaries of melanoma lesion in medical diagnostic images. Our ultrafast lithium niobate MWP engine could provide compact, low-latency and cost-effective solutions for future wireless communications, high-resolution radar and photonic artificial intelligence.

RESUMO

The interfacial stability of a Zn battery is dependent on the electrical double layer (EDL) that forms at the interface between the electrolyte and the Zn metal anode. A fundamental understanding of the regulation of the EDL structure and stability on the Zn surface is highly desirable for practical applications of aqueous batteries. Herein, the interfacial chemistry of the EDL is regulated by the adsorption of supramolecular cyclodextrin anions in the inner Helmholtz plane (IHP). The nucleation overpotential and the charge transfer activation energy for Zn2+ to go through the OHP (Ea1) and IHP (Ea2) are increased, leading to slower Zn2+ transfer kinetics. The electric field distribution and Zn2+ flux in the proximity of the Zn metal surface are homogenized, thus suppressing the growth of dendrites. The mechanism is supported with theoretical and experimental analyses. Consequently, a Zn||Zn symmetric cell achieves an ultrahigh cumulative capacity of 10000 and 4250 mAh cm-2 at a respective current density of 10 and 50 mA cm-2, and an average Coulombic efficiency of 99.5% over 1000 cycles under harsh conditions (at a high current density of 10 mA cm-2 with a high capacity of 10 mAh cm-2). This work provides insight into the introduction of supramolecular anions to regulate the electrical double layer EDL structure and improve the interfacial stability.

RESUMO

Thermally triggered spatial symmetry breaking in traditional ferroelectrics has been extensively studied for manipulation of the ferroelectricity. However, photoinduced molecular orbital breaking, which is promising for optical control of ferroelectric polarization, has been rarely explored. Herein, for the first time, we synthesized a homochiral fulgide organic ferroelectric crystal (E)-(R)-3-methyl-3-cyclohexylidene-4-(diphenylmethylene)dihydro-2,5-furandione (1), which exhibits both ferroelectricity and photoisomerization. Significantly, 1 shows a photoinduced reversible change in its molecular orbitals from the 3 π molecular orbitals in the open-ring isomer to 2 π and 1 σ molecular orbitals in the closed-ring isomer, which enables reversible ferroelectric domain switching by optical manipulation. To our knowledge, this is the first report revealing the manipulation of ferroelectric polarization in homochiral ferroelectric crystal by photoinduced breaking of molecular orbitals. This finding sheds light on the exploration of molecular orbital breaking in ferroelectrics for optical manipulation of ferroelectricity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of triple-dose intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA) in patients following total hip arthroplasty (THA) using thromboelastography (TEG). METHODS: One hundred thirty patients undergoing THA were prospectively enrolled in the study. According to the intravenous infusion TXA dose, patients were divided into single-dose (n=65; mean age=60.8 ± 8.1 years) and triple-dose groups (n=65; mean age=61.8 ± 8.6 years). Complete blood count (CBC), conventional coagulation tests (CCT), and TEG were conducted 1 day before the operation, on postoperative day 1 (POD1), and postoperative day 7 (POD7). Color Doppler ultrasonography was performed 1 day before the operation and on POD7. Drainage blood loss, total blood loss (TBL), hidden blood loss (HBL), deep vein thrombosis (DVT) incidence, and blood transfusion rates were calculated and recorded. The CCT, CBC, and TEG parameters were compared between the 2 groups. RESULTS: Single- and triple-dose groups had significantly different hematocrit on POD7 (P < .05). No significant differences were found in CCT and hemoglobin at any corresponding time point between the 2 groups (P > .05). Despite the reaction time (R) on POD1 (P < .05), there were no significant differences in other TEG parameters at any other time point between the 2 groups (P > 0.05). For drainage blood loss and TBL, the triple-dose group had lesser blood loss than the single-dose group (P < .05). However, no significant differences were found for blood transfusion rate, HBL, or incidence of DVT (P > .05). CONCLUSION: Compared with single-dose, triple-dose TXA can be more effective in decreasing blood loss without increasing DVT incidence in patients undergoing THA. Although there is a notable disparity in the R time on POD1, the administration of triple-dose TXA does not substantially impact the coagulation status as assessed by TEG and CCT.

RESUMO

Organic photochromic compounds have been widely investigated for optical memory storage and switches. Very recently, we pioneeringly discovered optical control of ferroelectric polarization switching in organic photochromic salicylaldehyde Schiff base and diarylethene derivatives, differently from the traditional ferroelectrics. However, the study of such intriguing photo-triggered ferroelectrics is still in its infancy and relatively scarce. In this manuscript, we synthesized a pair of new organic single-component fulgide isomers, (E and Z)-3-(1-(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)ethylidene)-4-(propan-2-ylidene)dihydrofuran-2,5-dione (1E and 1Z). They undergo prominent photochromism from yellow to red. Interestingly, only polar 1E has been proven to be ferroelectric, while the centrosymmetric 1Z does not meet the basic requirement for ferroelectricity. Besides, experimental evidence shows that the Z-form can be converted to the E-form by light irradiation. More importantly, the ferroelectric domains of 1E can be manipulated by light in the absence of an electric field, benefiting from the remarkable photoisomerization. 1E also adopts good fatigue resistance to the photocyclization reaction. As far as we know, this is the first example of organic fulgide ferroelectric reported with photo-triggered ferroelectric polarization response. This work has developed a new system for studying photo-triggered ferroelectrics and would also provide an expected perspective on developing ferroelectrics for optical applications in trap future.

RESUMO

Background: Incidental thyroid abnormalities found on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the neck are not uncommon. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of incidental thyroid abnormalities in the cervical spine MRI of the degenerative cervical spondylosis (DCS) population indicated for surgery and to identify patients who require additional workup based on the recommendations of the American College of Radiology (ACR). Methods: All consecutive patients with DCS and indications for cervical spine surgery from October 2014 to May 2019 in the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University were reviewed. All MRI scans of the cervical spine routinely include the thyroid. Cervical spine MRI scans were retrospectively evaluated for the prevalence, size, morphologic characteristics, and location of incidental thyroid abnormalities. Results: A total of 1,313 patients were included in the analysis, 98 (7.5%) of whom were found to have incidental thyroid abnormalities. The most frequent thyroid abnormality was thyroid nodules (5.3%), followed by goiters (1.4%). Other thyroid abnormalities included Hashimoto thyroiditis (0.4%) and thyroid cancer (0.5%). There was a statistically significant difference in age and sex between patients with DCS with and without incidental thyroid abnormalities (P=0.018 and P=0.007). Stratified by age, the results showed that the highest incidence of incidental thyroid abnormalities was found in patients aged 71 to 80 years (12.4%). Eighteen patients (1.4%) needed further ultrasound (US) and relevant workups. Conclusions: Incidental thyroid abnormalities are common in cervical MRI, with a prevalence of 7.5% identified in patients with DCS. Incidental thyroid abnormalities are large or have suspicious imaging features, and further evaluation with a dedicated thyroid US examination should be completed before cervical spine surgery is undertaken.

RESUMO

Purpose: To determine the side-to-side difference in intraindividual rotation alignment of patients with bilateral varus-type knee osteoarthritis (OA) and compare it with control subjects. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 60 patients with bilateral varus-type knee OA and 50 control subjects. All cases underwent bilateral lower limb CT angiography. Bilateral femoral and tibial rotation alignment were measured, and the overall lower limb rotation was calculated by two different methods. Method 1 was calculated by subtracting angle of the femoral torsion from the tibial torsion and method 2 was determined by relative rotation of the femoral neck angle to bimalleolar angle. The intraindividual variance and differences between the two groups were analyzed. Results: Both OA and control samples showed significant differences between right and left for all measurements. Femoral torsion for control group was 10.4 ± 5.5°, tibial torsion was -22.1 ± 6.1°, and overall leg rotation by method 1 was -15.6 ± 7.2° and method 2 was -11.7 ± 8.2°. Femoral torsion, tibial torsion, method 1, and method 2 in the patients with OA were 8.2 ± 6.3°, -18.6 ± 4.1°, -14.9 ± 7.9°, and -10.4 ± 7.6°, respectively. Patients with OA showed a more pronounced retroversion in the femur (p = 0.008) and more internal rotation in the tibia (p < 0.001). No statistical significance of both methods was found between the two groups. Patients with OA had a greater median side-to-side absolute difference in all measurements, though the differences of both two methods of overall lower limb rotation were not statistically significant. Conclusions: The discrepancy of side-to-side differences of bilateral lower limb rotation ought to be noticed with caution in diagnosing and treating rotational deformities of the lower limb, especially for patients with bilateral knee OA.

RESUMO

The expansion of telecommunications incurs increasingly severe crosstalk and interference, and a physical layer cognitive method, called blind source separation (BSS), can effectively address these issues. BSS requires minimal prior knowledge to recover signals from their mixtures, agnostic to the carrier frequency, signal format, and channel conditions. However, previous electronic implementations did not fulfil this versatility due to the inherently narrow bandwidth of radio-frequency (RF) components, the high energy consumption of digital signal processors (DSP), and their shared weaknesses of low scalability. Here, we report a photonic BSS approach that inherits the advantages of optical devices and fully fulfils its "blindness" aspect. Using a microring weight bank integrated on a photonic chip, we demonstrate energy-efficient, wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) scalable BSS across 19.2 GHz processing bandwidth. Our system also has a high (9-bit) resolution for signal demixing thanks to a recently developed dithering control method, resulting in higher signal-to-interference ratios (SIR) even for ill-conditioned mixtures.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common disease based on degenerative pathological changes. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an effective treatment for end-stage of KOA. However, only volume adaptation can be achieved with current knee prostheses, and it is difficult to achieve weight adaptation. This study focused on the weight difference of knee joints and initially explored the impact of this change on knee joint functional recovery and gait changes in patients after surgery. METHODS: From October 2015 to June 2019, patients who underwent primary unilateral TKA were enrolled in this prospective cohort study with the same brand of knee prostheses. General data were collected from patients who met the criteria. The resected bone and soft tissues were collected and weighed precisely during TKA, and multivariate regression analysis was used to determine the factors affecting the weight of the removed knee tissues. We compared the weight of excised tissues and the total weight of the knee prosthesis, and the weight difference was defined as the increased weight of the knee joint (IWKJ). All patients were evaluated by HSS score, gait analysis, and affected side knee X-ray at two weeks, three months, and the last follow-up after the operation. To further determine the influence of IWKJ on postoperative functional recovery, the relationship between IWKJ, HSS score, and gait analysis was analyzed by univariate regression. RESULTS: In total, 210 patients were eventually included in observation. All patients underwent postoperative follow-up for no less than two years. Multiple regression analysis showed that the course of the disease, body weight, and kellgren-Larencen stage(K-L stage)of the affected knee joint were independent factors affecting the weight of the removed knee tissues and were positively correlated with it. Univariate analysis showed that IWKJ was negatively correlated with HSS score at two weeks and three months after the operation. In addition, the values of spatiotemporal parameters and knee rotation ROM were negatively correlated with IWKJ two weeks after surgery, while outside food load response was positively correlated with IWKJ. Cadence, knee rotation ROM, and Ankle rotation ROM were negatively correlated with IWKJ, while outside food was positively correlated with IWKJ three months after surgery. At the last follow-up, only the hip rotation ROM was positively correlated with IWKJ. CONCLUSIONS: All Patients underwent TKA had varying degrees of increased knee weight. The increased weight was 298.98 ± 63.77 g. Patients' body weight, K-L staging, and disease duration are important factors that cause differences in resected knee tissue. Three months after the operation, the changes in knee joint weight had a negative correlation with the HSS score, which at the same time, it had varying degrees of linearity with gait parameters. However, the influence of weight diminished over time.

RESUMO

Matrix computation, as a fundamental building block of information processing in science and technology, contributes most of the computational overheads in modern signal processing and artificial intelligence algorithms. Photonic accelerators are designed to accelerate specific categories of computing in the optical domain, especially matrix multiplication, to address the growing demand for computing resources and capacity. Photonic matrix multiplication has much potential to expand the domain of telecommunication, and artificial intelligence benefiting from its superior performance. Recent research in photonic matrix multiplication has flourished and may provide opportunities to develop applications that are unachievable at present by conventional electronic processors. In this review, we first introduce the methods of photonic matrix multiplication, mainly including the plane light conversion method, Mach-Zehnder interferometer method and wavelength division multiplexing method. We also summarize the developmental milestones of photonic matrix multiplication and the related applications. Then, we review their detailed advances in applications to optical signal processing and artificial neural networks in recent years. Finally, we comment on the challenges and perspectives of photonic matrix multiplication and photonic acceleration.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Whole leg radiograph (WLR) is the gold standard in assessing lower limb alignment before total knee arthroplasty (TKA) although in practice, non-weight-bearing short knee radiographs (NWB SKRs) are used by most medical institutions. The objective of this study was to determine whether the femorotibial angle (FTA) could be used to evaluate lower limb alignment on limited NWB SKRs. We also investigated whether FTA alignment measurements on NWB SKRs and WLRs differed depending on the direction of knee deformity. METHODS: In all, 105 knees which underwent both NWB SKR and WLR were included. Measurement of hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA) was obtained through WLR, while the FTA was found using NWB SKR (FTASKR) and WLR (FTAWLR). All knees were divided into three groups based on the HKA. The Kappa statistic was used to compare the agreement of categorical alignment variables between the HKA and FTASKR. The agreement of the measurements obtained from the two radiographs was made using Bland-Altman plots and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Pearson correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis were also conducted to evaluate the correlation between different angles. RESULTS: The agreement for categories of lower limb deformity was rated excellent (kappa =0.804, P<0.001). The Bland-Altman plot showed that the mean difference for the FTASKR and FTAWLR was 4.4°. There was an excellent correlation (r=0.861, P<0.001) and good reliability (ICC, 0.607) between the FTASKR and HKA. For the varus group, there was a good correlation between the FTASKR and HKA (r=0.650, P<0.001); however, there were no significant correlations between the FTAS KR and HKA in the neutral (r=0.106, P=0.543) and valgus groups (r=0.322, P=0.102). CONCLUSIONS: For outpatient follow-up, we found that the FTA on NWB SKRs is an acceptable means for classifying knee alignment (varus, neutral, or valgus). The measurement on NWB SKR also showed excellent correlation and good agreement with the HKA. For varus knees, NWB SKR measurements showed the best correlation with the HKA. However, for neutral and valgus knees, NWB SKR measurements were insufficient for conducting a reliable calculation and quantification of coronal alignment of the lower limb.

RESUMO

A salicylaldehyde Schiff base hybrid lead iodide perovskite [SAPD]PbI3 (SAPD = 1-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)pyridin-1-ium) was found to show a robust nonlinear optical response and large spontaneous polarization. We expect this work to inspire researchers to investigate the optical control of ferroelectricity in hybrid perovskites.

RESUMO

Several clinical studies showed that statins were potential to treat polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Through comprehensive search PubMed, EMBASE, the Web of Science, BIOSIS, the ClinialTrails.gov, and the Cochrane Library database up to 14 Feb 2020, we identified the randomized controlled trials about the treatment of statins on hyperandrogenism in PCOS women, and performed a systematic review and meta-analysis. The quality of the included studies was assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias tool and the Jadda score. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were conducted to analyze the pooled results. Nine trials included 682 PCOS patients were identified. Statins showed a significant potential to reduce testosterone (SMD = -0.47; 95% CI, - 0.76-- 0.18; P = 0.002) and dehydroepiandrosterone (SMD = -0.51; 95% CI, - 0.97-- 0.05; P = 0.03) levels, compared to the control treatments. The cutaneous symptoms hirsutism (SMD = -0.61; 95% CI, - 1.13-- 0.10; P = 0.02) and acne (SMD = -0.92; 95% CI, - 1.49-- 0.34; P = 0.002) were significantly improved by statins in PCOS women. Subgroup analysis showed that the two types of statins, and the different control treatments as well, presented no significantly different effect on testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone. Sensitivity analysis confirmed the stability of the findings from the meta-analysis. In conclusion, statin treatment could significantly reduce androgen levels and improve cutaneous manifestations of hyperandrogenism of PCOS.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is one of the severe complications after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Gender has been considered to influence the incidence of the thrombosis formation in TKA patients. However, it remains controversial which gender would be more prone to form thrombosis. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of gender differences on coagulation status after TKA via the thromboelastography (TEG). METHODS: A total of 57 male patients who underwent primary TKA from September 2015 to January 2021 were included in this study. According to the matching principle of age, body mass index (BMI), and anticoagulation treatment, 60 female patients were selected. The conventional coagulation tests, routine blood tests, and thromboelastography were conducted before the operation, 1 day and 7 days after the operation. In addition, Doppler ultrasound was also performed 1 day before the operation and at the 7 days after the operation. The parameters of conventional coagulation tests, routine blood tests, and thromboelastography were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in the blood transfusion rate, the incidence of DVT during the perioperative period, D-dimer (D-D), fibrin degradation products (FDP), hemoglobin (HB), hematocrit (HCT), prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and C-reactive protein (CRP) at any corresponding time point between the male group and the female group (P > .05). There were no significant differences in neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) preoperatively; however, there were significant differences in NLR 1 day after the surgery and 7 days after the surgery between the two groups (P < .05). There were significant differences in reaction time (R) and α angle 1 day after the surgery between the two groups (P < .05), but there were no significant differences in other TEG indexes at any corresponding time point between the two groups (P > .05). Binary logistic regression analysis demonstrated that gender, age, BMI, tourniquet application time were not independent predictors (P > .05). CONCLUSION: Gender differences have no significant influence in TKA patients with regard to conventional coagulation tests and thromboelastography.

RESUMO

Two-dimensional (2D) hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have recently gained tremendous interest because of their unique features in contrast to three-dimensional counterparts and traditional 2D materials. However, although some 2D HOIP ferroelectrics have been achieved, the issue of toxic Pb and uniaxial nature impede their further application. Herein, for the first time, we report a lead-free 2D HOIP multiaxial ferroelectric, [3,3-difluorocyclobutylammonium]2CuCl4 (1), which shows four ferroelectric axes and eight equivalent polarization directions, more than those of the other 2D HOIP ferroelectrics and even the inorganic perovskite ferroelectric BaTiO3 (three ferroelectric axes and six equivalent polarization directions). 1 also features a high Curie temperature of 380 K and exhibits remarkable thermochromism of color change from green-yellow to dark brown. To our knowledge, 1 is the first multiaxial lead-free 2D HOIP ferroelectric. This work sheds light on the exploration of better lead-free 2D HOIP ferroelectrics.

RESUMO

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the coagulation difference in patients with either rivaroxaban or enoxaparin as thromboprophylaxis after total hip arthroplasty (THA) regarding thromboelastography (TEG) and routine coagulation tests. Patients and methods: Two hundred and twenty-eight patients undergoing primary THA were recruited in this study. They were divided into two groups according to a computer-generated random sequence. Patients in the rivaroxaban group received 10 mg of rivaroxaban orally once daily. Patients in the enoxaparin group received 4000 AxaIU (0.4 mL) of enoxaparin subcutaneously once daily. Rivaroxaban and enoxaparin were started 6-8 h after surgery. The administration of the anticoagulant prophylaxis was lasted for a minimum of 14 days. TEG and routine coagulation tests were performed on the day before the operation and 1 day and 7 days after the operation. Results: No difference was observed in the incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE) between the two groups. There was no significant difference with regard to prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (PTT), international normalized ratio (INR), and thrombin time (TT) between the two groups. However, while considering TEG, R time of the rivaroxaban group was significantly higher than that of the enoxaparin group (p = 0.003), whereas the maximum amplitude (MA) (p = 0.036) value and coagulation index (CI) (p = 0.002) value were significantly lower than those of the enoxaparin group. Conclusion: With regard to TEG analysis, there was coagulation difference in patients with rivaroxaban and those with enoxaparin as thromboprophylaxis after THA. Under recommended dose of rivaroxaban and enoxaparin, patients undergoing THA were in hypercoagulability on 7days postoperative.

RESUMO

Since the discovery of the first ferroelectric Rochelle salt, most ferroelectrics have been investigated showing thermally triggered symmetry-breaking phase transition. Although photochromism arising from geometrical isomerization was reported as early as 1867, such photoswitchable ferroelectric crystals have scarcely been developed to date. Herein, we report that salicylideneaniline is a photochromic ferroelectric crystal. Upon photoirradiation, the dielectric constant shows obvious switching between high and low dielectric states, and more importantly, the ferroelectric polarization demonstrates quick and reversible switching. This work opens the gate to developing photoswitchable ferroelectrics, which holds great potential for applications in optically controlled smart devices.

RESUMO

Dual-site models were constructed to represent manganese nitride (Mn4N)-supported Ni3 and Fe3 clusters for NH3 synthesis. Density functional theory calculations produced an energy barrier of approximately 0.55 eV for N-N bond activation at the interfacial nitrogen vacancy sites (Nv); also, the hydrogenation and removal of interfacial N is promoted by earth-abundant Ni and Fe metals. Steady-state microkinetic modeling revealed that the turnover frequencies of NH3 production follow an order of Fe3@Mn4N ≈ Ni3@Mn4N > Mn4N > Fe ≫ Ni. Moreover, we present clear evidence that, before NH3 formation, NH migrates from Nv onto the metallic sites. Using N binding energy (BEN) and the transition-state energy of N2 activation (ETS) as descriptors, we concluded that the beneficial effects owing to interfacial Nv sites are the most pronounced when BEN is either too strong or too weak while ETS is high; otherwise, excessive Nv sites may hinder catalyst performance.
