RESUMO

To reveal the mechanism of charge transfer between interfaces of BiVO4-based heterogeneous materials in photoelectrochemical water splitting system, the cocatalyst was grown in situ using tannic acid (TA) as a ligand and Fe and Co ions as metal centers (TAFC), and then uniformly and ultra-thinly coated on BiVO4 to form photoanodes. The results show that the BiVO4/TAFC achieves a superior photocurrent density (4.97 mA cm-2 at 1.23 VRHE). The charge separation and charge injection efficiencies were also significantly higher, 82.0 % and 78.9 %, respectively. From XPS, UPS, KPFM, and density functional theory calculations, Ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) acts as an electron transport highway in TAFC ultrathin layer to promote the concentration of electrons towards metal center, leading to an increase in the work function, which enhances the built-in electric field and further improves the charge transport. This study demonstrated that the LMCT pathway on TA-metal complexes enhances the built-in electric field in BiVO4/TAFC to promote charge transport and thus enhance water oxidation, providing a new understanding of the performance improvement mechanism for the surface-modified composite photoanodes.

RESUMO

The photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance ofBiVO4 is limited by sluggish water oxidation kinetics and severe carrier recombination. Herein, a novel high-performance BiVO4/NiFe-NOAQ photoanode is prepared by a simple one-step hydrothermal method, using BiVO4 and 1-Nitroanthraquinone (NOAQ) as raw materials. The BiVO4/NiFe-NOAQ photoanode has an excellent photocurrent density of 5.675 mA cm-2 at 1.23 VRHE, which is 3.35 times higher than that of the pure BiVO4 (1.693 mA cm-2) photoanode. The BiVO4/NiFe-NOAQ shows a significant improvement in charge separation efficiency (86.12 %) and charge injection efficiency (87.86 %). The improvement is ascribable to the NiFe-NOAQ form a type II heterojunction with BiVO4 to inhibit carrier recombination. More importantly, the kinetic isotope experiment suggests that the proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) process can enhance the charge transfer of BiVO4/NiFe-NOAQ. The contact angle measurements show that modifying functional groups enhanced the hydrophilicity of BiVO4/NiFe-NOAQ, which can further accelerate the PCET process. The XPS and PL results as well as the tauc plot indicate that the strong electron-withdrawing ability of -NO2 which can promote the extension of π conjugation, results in more π electron delocalization and produces more efficient active sites, thus achieving efficient photoelectrochemical water oxidation.

RESUMO

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered as one of the most promising catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, only a few have introduced redox-active ligands into MOFs and explored their role in the OER process. In this work, we synthesized FeNi DHBQ/NF using the redox-active ligand 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone (DHBQ), which exhibited excellent redox activity and required only 207 and 242 mV overpotentials to achieve current densities of 10 and 100 mA cm-2. Our research confirms that (i) the doping of Fe leads to the formation of Ni â†’ O â†’ Fe electron transfer channels in the MOFs and stronger electron transfer, attributed to the stronger d-π conjugation between the metal center and the ligand and reduced the d-orbital crystal field splitting energy of Fe3+; (ii) the rate determination step (RDS) in the OER process of the catalyst is the formation of O*, while Fe and redox-active ligands effectively regulate the adsorption energy of oxygen-containing intermediates, reducing the energy barrier of the RDS; (iii) the redox-active ligands can act as "electron reservoirs" in the electrochemical process, making Ni more readily oxidized to Ni3+ or even Ni4+ at low potentials, which is beneficial to the subsequent OER process.

RESUMO

Currently, numerous studies have carried out to research the effect of biochars remediation soil heavy metals (HMs) contaminated, but there have been fewer explorations of the effect of biochars tubule on soil HMs remediation. This work aimed to study the effect of passivation and remediation of lead (Pb) and chromium (Cr) contaminated soil after insert sewage sludge biochar (SSB) tubule. The results showed that the high risky fractions of Pb and Cr could be transformed into more stable fractions; also, Pb and Cr total contents are significantly decreased by SSB tubule. The mechanisms include adsorption, ion exchange, complexation, and precipitation which are concluded from the characteristic analysis. Detailly, the passivation of Pb and Cr is better when the moisture is 25% and 35%, respectively [Pb: exchangeable (F1), carbonate bound (F2) decreased by 25.1%, 16.8%, Fe-Mn oxides bound (F3) increased by 18.5%; Cr: F1 decreased by 73.0%, F2, F3, organic matter bound (F4) increased by 13.2%, 23.9%, 30.8%), respectively]. The remediation of Pb and Cr is better when the moisture is 25% and 35%, respectively, (Pb: decreased by 23.3%; Cr: decreased by 38.4%, respectively). The findings showed that the SSB tubule is effective when used for soil HMs contaminated.

RESUMO

Relay-assisted Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, one of the important transmission modes in mobile health systems, can provide high transmission quality for servicing users at the edge of system coverage. However, the quality of the D2D relay communication is largely limited by the relay nodes. When a poor node is selected to assist the source node in the data transmission, it is likely to result in the loss of medical data and inaccurate transmission. Therefore, this paper focuses on how to select relay modes and relay nodes to improve the reliability of medical data transmission. Firstly, in order to eliminate the relay nodes with low energy or poor willingness, the acceptable energy consumption metric of relay nodes is proposed in this paper. The relay mode of each relay node is determined by the acceptable energy consumption metric, which can ensure the physical reliability of the relay communication links. Then a trust metric is proposed to measure the social reliability of each relay link, further excluding the malicious relay nodes. Finally, this paper proposes a relay selection algorithm based on compromise factors (RSCF). With the help of the proposed algorithm, the reliability of the relay communication can be guaranteed, and the spectrum efficiency can be promoted greatly. The simulation results show that the relay nodes selected by RSCF algorithm can greatly improve transmission rate and reliability compared with the traditional relay-assisted D2D communication schemes.

RESUMO

There are a large number of redundant transmissions in current D2D multicast content delivery systems, which seriously reduces the utilization efficiency of resources. This paper designs a novel user-information-aware D2D video distribution mechanism. More specifically, by predicting users' video requests, the video can be pushed to potential service requesters while distributing video for service requesters. Firstly, the willingness of potential requesters to accept the pushed video is estimated based on the users' interests, the popularity of the videos and the residual-energy of the users' devices, and the user-demand-aware clustering algorithm is proposed. Secondly, considering social and interference information, the utility metric of D2D multicast is proposed to measure the value of content distribution service. Finally, this paper proposes a D2D video distribution mechanism to optimize the utility value. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism significantly improves throughput, energy and spectrum efficiency compared to the traditional distribution mechanism.

RESUMO

Biomimetic nanostructures have shown to enhance the optical absorption of Ga0.5In0.5P/GaAs/Ge triple junction solar cells due to excellent antireflective (AR) properties that, however, are highly dependent on their geometric dimensions. In practice, it is challenging to control fabrication conditions which produce nanostructures in ideal periodic arrangements and with tapered side-wall profiles, leading to sacrificed AR properties and solar cell performance. In this work, we introduce compound biomimetic nanostructures created by depositing a layer of silicon dioxide (SiO2) on top of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanostructures for triple junction solar cells. The device exhibits photogenerated current and power conversion efficiency that are enhanced by ~8.9% and ~6.4%, respectively, after deposition due to their improved antireflection characteristics. We further investigate and verify the optical properties of compound structures via a rigorous coupled wave analysis model. The additional SiO2 layer not only improves the geometric profile, but also serves as a double-layer dielectric coating. It is concluded that the compound biomimetic nanostructures exhibit superior AR properties that are relatively insensitive to fabrication constraints. Therefore, the compound approach can be widely adopted for versatile optoelectronic devices and applications.

RESUMO

This article presents the development of an image-based sun position sensor and the algorithm for how to aim at the Sun precisely by using image processing. Four-quadrant light sensors and bar-shadow photo sensors were used to detect the Sun's position in the past years. Nevertheless, neither of them can maintain high accuracy under low irradiation conditions. Using the image-based Sun position sensor with image processing can address this drawback. To verify the performance of the Sun-tracking system including an image-based Sun position sensor and a tracking controller with embedded image processing algorithm, we established a Sun image tracking platform and did the performance testing in the laboratory; the results show that the proposed Sun tracking system had the capability to overcome the problem of unstable tracking in cloudy weather and achieve a tracking accuracy of 0.04°.
