RESUMO

Inflammatory cytokines have crucial roles in the pathogenesis of tuberculosis (TB), and interleukin (IL)-27 and IL-35 have a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effect on many diseases, including infectious diseases. Therefore, we evaluated the relationship between IL-27 and IL-35 gene polymorphism, expression levels, and pulmonary TB (PTB) susceptibility. Nine single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the IL-27 gene (rs181206, rs153109, and rs17855750) and the IL-35 gene (rs4740, rs428253, rs9807813, rs2243123, rs2243135, and rs568408) were genotyped by the SNPscan technique in 497 patients with PTB and 501 controls. There was no significant difference regarding the genotype and allele frequencies of the above SNPs in the IL-27 and IL-35 genes between patients with PTB and controls. Haplotype analysis showed that the frequency of the GAC haplotype in the IL-35 gene was significantly decreased in patients with PTB when compared to controls (p = 0.036). Stratified analysis suggested that the frequency of the IL-27 rs17855750 GG genotype was significantly increased in patients with PTB with fever. Moreover, the lower frequency of the IL-35 rs568408 GA genotype was associated with drug-induced liver injury in patients with PTB. The IL-35 rs428253 GC genotype, as well as the rs4740 AA genotype and A allele, showed significant relationships with hypoproteinemia in patients with PTB. When compared with controls, the IL-27 level was significantly increased in patients with PTB. Taken together, IL-35 gene variation might contribute to a protective role on the susceptibility to PTB, and IL-27 and IL-35 gene polymorphisms were associated with several clinical manifestations of patients with PTB.

RESUMO

Phenazines, crucial constituents of nitrogen-containing heterocycles, widely exist in functional compounds. Herein, we report an anodic oxidative (4 + 2) cyclization between anilines and o-phenylenediamines for the uniform construction of phenazines in a simple undivided cell. Dual C-H amination followed by oxidation represents an outstanding step and atom efficiency. A sequence of phenazines is produced with excellent functional group tolerance at room temperature.

RESUMO

2-Aminobenzothiazoles are commonly encountered in various functional compounds. Herein, we disclose an electro-oxidative three-component reaction for the effective synthesis of 2-aminobenzothiazoles under mild conditions, utilizing non-toxic and abundant elemental sulfur as the sulfur source. Both aliphatic amines and aryl amines demonstrate good compatibility at room temperature, highlighting the broad functional group tolerance of this approach. Additionally, elemental selenium demonstrated reactivities comparable to those of elemental sulfur.

RESUMO

A visible-light-induced radical alkylarylation of N-aryl bicyclobutyl amides with α-carbonyl alkyl bromides for the synthesis of functionalized 3-spirocyclobutyl oxindoles is described in which ß-selective radical addition of the alkyl radical to N-aryl bicyclobutyl amides forms a key radical intermediate followed by interception with intrinsic arene functional group. This approach can be applicable to a wide range of α-carbonyl alkyl bromides, including primary, secondary, and tertiary α-bromoalkyl esters, ketones, nitriles, and nitro compounds.

RESUMO

We herein report an efficient photoredox radical cyclization reaction of o-vinylaryl isocyanides with acyl chlorides to access a wide range of 2,4-disubstituted quinolines. Preliminary mechanism experiment results suggested that this reaction was initiated by an acyl radical generated from acyl chlorides through a single-electron-transfer (SET) process. This transformation showed good substrate suitability and functional group compatibility at room temperature.

RESUMO

Cyclobutanone oximes and their derivatives are pivotal core structural motifs in organic chemistry. Iminyl-radical-triggered C-C bond cleavage of cyclobutanone oximes delivers an efficient strategy to produce stable distal cyano-substituted alkyl radicals, which can capture SO2, CO or O2 to form cyanoalkylsulfonyl radicals, cyanoalkylcarbonyl radicals or cyanoalkoxyl radicals under mild conditions. In the past several years, cyanoalkylsulfonylation/cyanoalkylcarbonyaltion/cyanoalkoxylation has attracted a lot of interest. In this updated report, the strategies for trapping SO2, CO or O2via iminyl-radical-triggered ring-opening of cyclobutanone oximes are summarized.

RESUMO

Sample pretreatment technology plays a vital role in the analysis of complex samples and is key to the entire analytical process. Its main purpose is to separate the substance to be measured from the sample matrix or interfering substances in the sample and to achieve a state in which the instrument can be analyzed and detected. Traditional sample pretreatment techniques include liquid-liquid extraction, liquid-solid extraction, precipitation separation, solvent volatilization-rotary evaporation, filtration, and centrifugation. However, the applications of these methods are limited by their low extraction efficiency, complicated operation, long time consumption, unstable recovery, use of large amounts of organic solvents, and large error rates. Several new sample pretreatment techniques, including solid-phase extraction, magnetic solid-phase extraction, solid-phase microextraction, and dispersive solid-phase extraction, have been developed and rapidly applied to various fields to overcome the shortcomings of traditional sample pretreatment methods. However, the development of adsorbent materials with high selectivity and enrichment capability remains a challenge in sample pretreatment technology, in which adsorbents with excellent adsorption performance are crucial. In recent years, various nanomaterials with remarkable properties have been introduced and applied to sample pretreatment, and numerous nano-extraction materials with diverse functions and high selectivity and enrichment capability have been developed. Hollow nanomaterials are nanoparticles with large voids in their solid shells. Owing to their advantageous properties, which include a large effective surface area, abundant internal space, low density, variety of preparation methods, structural and functional tailorability, short mass transmission path, and high carrying capacity, hollow nanomaterials show great application potential in sample pretreatment. The extraction mechanism of these materials is based on the synergistic effects of π-π stacking, electrostatic, hydrogen-bonding, and hydrophobic interactions to achieve the efficient separation and enrichment of the target analytes. Given their noteworthy physicochemical properties, hollow nanomaterials have gained wide attention in various research fields and are considered a research frontier in the field of materials science. Changing the structure or surface properties of the core and shell can lead to various hollow nanomaterials with unique properties. Such changes can create synergy between the physicochemical properties and structural function of the original core-shell material, leading to novel materials with superior performance compared with the starting materials and broad application prospects in sample pretreatment. Nevertheless, only a few hollow nanomaterials with diverse structures and functions are currently used for sample pretreatment, and their adsorption capacity for target analytes is often unsatisfactory. Consequently, enhancing the adsorption selectivity of these materials toward various analytes is the most important step in sample pretreatment. First, hollow nanomaterials with a large specific surface area and suitable pore size can be designed to achieve the specific adsorption of target analytes of varying sizes. The combination of hollow nanomaterials with other materials presenting desirable adsorption properties could also lead to synergistic effects and enhance the performance of composite hollow nanomaterials. In addition, more green methods to prepare hollow nanomaterials with outstanding selectivity can be explored to achieve the superior adsorption of a specific target analyte. Efforts to synthesize hollow nanomaterials have been met with great success, but the available synthesis methods still suffer from complicated steps, high costs, relatively harsh conditions, and the use of highly toxic substances. This paper summarizes the main types of hollow nanomaterials, their synthesis methods, and research progress on sample pretreatment technologies (solid-phase extraction, solid-phase microextraction, magnetic solid-phase extraction, and dispersive solid-phase extraction) and describes the challenges encountered in the synthesis of hollow nanomaterials. The applications and developments of hollow nanomaterials in sample pretreatment are also discussed.

RESUMO

Acute Stanford type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) with sudden onset and high mortality requiries a standard Bentall operation and a accurate prognosis in common, together with alteration of CO2 combining power (CO2CP) and serum sodium rase concern, hence, we evaluated the prognostic value of CO2CP combined with serum sodium in ATAAD patients. This retrospective study included 183 patients who underwent Bentall operation for ATAAD from 2015 to 2021 in the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University, subsequently followed grouping by the levels of CO2CP and serum sodium. The study endpoint was 30-day all-cause mortality, and the prognostic value of CO2CP combined with serum sodium levels in ATAAD patients were evaluated with multivariate logistic regression method. The postoperative incidence of in-hospital death and adverse events in patients with ATAAD were 18% and 25.7%, respectively. Combination of CO2CP and serum sodium for predicting ATAAD death and adverse events presented a higher predictive value than each single indicator with ROC curve analysis (the AUC of CO2CP combined with serum sodium was 0.786, 95% CI 0.706-0.869, P < 0.001), along with CO2CP < 22.5 mmol/L + serum sodium > 138.5 mmol/L group had the worst prognostic. Multivariate regression analyse showed that CO2CP < 22.5 mmol/L combined with serum sodium > 138.5 mmol/L preferably predicted the prognosis of ATAAD (OR =6.073, 95% CI 2.557-14.425, P < 0.001). Consistently, the cumulative 30-day survival after surgery in ATAAD patients with the low CO2CP and high serum sodium simultaneously was the worst (log-rank P < 0.05). The combination of CO2CP and serum sodium increases the predictive value of prognosis, which is conducive to risk stratification of patients with ATAAD.

RESUMO

This study aimed to investigate whether lactating Hu sheep's dietary protein levels could generate dynamic effects on the performance of their offspring. Twelve ewes with similar parity were fed iso-energy diets which contained different protein levels (P1: 9.82%, P2: 10.99%) (n = 6), and the corresponding offspring were divided into SP1 and SP2 (n = 12). At 60 days, half of the lambs were harvested for further study: the carcass weight (p = 0.043) and dressing percentage (p = 0.004) in the SP2 group were significantly higher than SP1. The acetic acid (p = 0.007), propionic acid (p = 0.003), butyric acid (p < 0.001) and volatile fatty acids (p < 0.001) in rumen fluid of SP2 were significantly lower than SP1. The expression of MCT2 (p = 0.024), ACSS1 (p = 0.039) and NHE3 (p = 0.006) in the rumen of SP2 was lower than SP1, while the HMGCS1 (p = 0.026), HMGCR (p = 0.024) and Na+/K+-ATPase (p = 0.020) was higher than SP1. The three dominant phyla in the rumen are Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria and Firmicutes. The membrane transport, amino acid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism of SP1 were relatively enhanced, the replication and repair function of SP2 was relatively enhanced. To sum up, the increase of dietary protein level significantly increased the carcass weight and dressing percentage of offspring and had significant effects on rumen volatile fatty acids, acetic acid activation and cholesterol synthesis related genes. HIGHLIGHTSIn the early feeding period, the difference in ADG of lambs was mainly caused by the sucking effect. The increase in dietary protein level of ewes significantly increased the carcass weight and dressing percentage of offspring. The dietary protein level of ewes significantly affected the volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and genes related to acetic acid activation and cholesterol synthesis in the rumen of their offspring. The membrane transport, amino acid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism of the offspring of ewes fed with a low protein diet were relatively enhanced. The replication and repair function of the offspring of ewes fed with a high protein diet was relatively strengthened.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of adding Pennisetum purpureum (P. purpureum, also known as Napier grass or elephant grass) to the diets of late gestation on the antioxidant indexes, immune indexes and faecal microbiota of sows. At the 90 days of gestation, 300 healthy sows were randomly divided into three groups, and they received the basic commercial diet or added 5% P. purpureum and 10% P. purpureum, respectively. The experiment started from 90 days of gestation to parturition. The results showed that the total antioxidant capacity, immunoglobulins and serum equol concentrations of sows on 100 days of gestation and at parturition increased linearly (p < .05) with the increase of the content of P. purpureum in the gestation diet. The 5% P. purpureum increased the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes (p = .027) and Actinobacteria (p < .001) at phylum level, Coriobacteriaceae (p < .001) at family level and Prevotellaceae_UCG_001 (p = .004) at genus level, and decreased the relative abundance of Escherichia_Shigella (p < .001) at genus level. In summary, this study shows that the additive of P. purpureum can increase the concentration of serum equol, improve the antioxidant capacity and immune function of sow in late gestation. In addition, the additive of 5% P. purpureum in the diet might change the composition of intestinal microbiota of sows, particularly the relative abundance of Coriobacteriaceae (p < .001) increased.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Owing to the government's effective epidemic control measures, universities in some areas of China gradually resumed offline teaching six months after the COVID-19 outbreak. Although attention should now be paid to the experiences of students after they returned to campus, few studies have explored the factors and mechanisms that have influenced these students' school adaptation. The present study investigated the multiple roles of social support and resilience in mediating associations the relationship between Chinese university students' interpersonal relationships and their school adaptation during COVID-19 control period. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 4534 Chinese university students (Mage = 19.70, SD = 1.14) at two universities in Jiangxi provinces. The independent variable was interpersonal relationships; mediating variables were social support and resilience; and the dependent variable was school adaptation. Multiple mediation analysis was performed using the MPlus software. RESULTS: Controlling for demographic variables, the quality of students' interpersonal relationships was significantly and positively related to their school adaptation, with students' ratings of social support and resilience mediating these associations. More interestingly, social support and resilience played multiple mediating roles in the relationship between interpersonal relationships and school adaptation. LIMITATIONS: The age stage of the sample and the methods in which the data were collected may affect the generalizability of the results. CONCLUSIONS: During COVID-19 control period, interpersonal relationships can influence school adaptation either directly or indirectly by enhancing social support or resilience (parallel mediation) or by activating resilience via the experience of social support (serial mediation). This study's results emphasize the role of interpersonal relationships, as well as the contributions of positive external and internal factors on students' school adaptation during the epidemic control period. Accordingly, these findings may have implications for the mental health education of college students in the post-epidemic era.

RESUMO

The amino acids and other components of diet provide nourishment for piglet intestinal development and maturation. However, early-weaned piglets struggle with tremendous stress, impairing normal intestinal health and leading to intestinal dysfunction and even death. The high prevalence worldwide of post-weaning diarrhoea syndrome (PWDS) in piglets has led to much interest in understanding the important role of nutrients in the establishment and maintenance of a functional intestinal tract. In particular, the impacts of amino acids on these functions must be considered. Amino acid levels greatly influence intestinal development in weaning piglets. The lack of amino acids can cause marked structural and functional changes in the intestine. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of the functions of amino acids is necessary to optimize amino acid requirements of the developing intestinal tract to maximize piglet health and growth performance. This review summarizes the role of specific amino acids (arginine, glutamate, threonine, sulphur-containing amino acids (SCAAs), and branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)) that have been proven to be beneficial for the intestinal health of weaned piglets.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The study aimed to compare the diagnostic efficiency of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) with that of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) in the evaluation of benign and malignant small renal masses (SRMs) (<4 cm) confirmed by pathology. METHODS: A total of 118 patients with 118 renal masses smaller than 4 cm diagnosed by both CEUS and CECT were enrolled in this study, including 25 benign lesions and 93 malignant lesions. All lesions were confirmed by histopathologic diagnosis after surgical resection. The diagnostic imaging studies of the patients were retrospectively reviewed by two independent ultrasonologists and two independent radiologists blinded to the CT or ultrasound findings and final histological results. All lesions on both CEUS and CECT were independently scored on a 3-point scale (1: benign, 2: equivocal, and 3: malignant). The concordance between interobserver agreement was interpreted using a weighted kappa statistic. The diagnostic efficiency of the evaluation of benign and malignant lesions was compared between CEUS and CECT. RESULTS: All the 118 included lesions were detected by both CEUS and CECT. In CEUS and CECT imaging evaluation of the 118 lesions, the weighted kappa value interpreting the concordance between interobserver agreement was 0.89 (95% CI 0.79-0.98) and 0.93 (95% CI 0.87-0.99), respectively. Both CEUS and CECT demonstrated good diagnostic performance in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant SRMs with sensitivity of 93.5% and 89.2%, specificity of 68% and 76%, PPV of 91.6% and 93.3%, NPV of 73.9% and 65.5%, and AUC of 0.808 and 0.826, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in any of the diagnostic performance indices between these two methods (P > 0.05). However, the qualitative diagnosis of small papillary renal cell carcinoma (RCC) by CEUS was significantly better than that by CECT (P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference in qualitative diagnostic accuracy on other histotypes of SRMs between CEUS and CECT (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Both CEUS and CECT imaging modalities are effective for the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant SRMs. Furthermore, CEUS may be more effective than CECT for the qualitative diagnosis of small papillary RCC.
