RESUMO

The paper had the objective to study growth dynamics of short tubular wrist bones in children aged from 5 to 16 years and residing in the cities of Shelekhov and Irkutsk. The growth rate in the girls from Irkutsk was shown to be fairly uniform and proportional; in the boys, it substantially increased at the age of 10-11 and 15 years. In the boys living in Shelekhov, the bone growth became activated at the age of 9 and 15 years. In the girls, it was periodically uniform until the age of 9; thereafter, periodicity in the growth of middle and distal phalanxes was no longer apparent.

RESUMO

"Rules for forensic medical determination of the severity of bodily injures" currently used in practical expertise are at some variance with the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. Their analysis taking into account the available clinical reports and the results of our original studies of archive materials made it possible to propose and substantiate additional criteria for the assessment of harm to the human health from thermal injuries.

RESUMO

Evaluation of demonstrative value of method based on diatom plankton determination as a diagnostical sign of death due to drowning was performed. Plankton was detected in the viscera in 37% of cases (as a whole 376 bodies of people who drowned in fresh water were examined). Plankton was detected in aspiration type of drowning and its mixed variant. In spastic and reflector types of drowning plankton wasn't detected. According to author's opinion this method is an objective diagnostical test to determine the cause of death of people when their bodies are found in water.

RESUMO

Incidence of fluid presence (drowning medium) in basilar bone sinus of dead bodies found in water was studied according to pathogenetic type of drowning. Method of quantitative assessment of this sign in medicolegal evaluation of the cause of death when dead bodies were found in water is suggested.

RESUMO

The degree of lymphogemy in persons who died of different causes (including drowning) was studied by histologic analysis of the thoracic lymphatic ducts. It was found that quantitative estimation of the presented feature makes it possible to estimate the specific type of drowning which depends on the level of venous hypertension in the system of superior vena cava. This phenomena is strongly marked in spastic and mixed types of drowning and is absent in aspiration and reflex types.
