RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate corpus callosum (CC) size in fetuses with malformations of cortical development (MCD) and to explore the diagnostic value of three CC length (CCL) ratios in identifying cortical abnormalities. METHODS: This is a single-center retrospective study in singleton fetuses at 20-37 weeks of gestation between April 2017 and August 2022. The midsagittal plane of the fetal brain was obtained and evaluated for the following variables: length, height, area of the corpus callosum, and relevant markers, including the ratios of corpus callosum length to internal cranial occipitofrontal dimension (CCL/ICOFD), corpus callosum length to femur length (CCL/FL), and corpus callosum length to cerebellar vermian diameter (CCL/VD). Intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to evaluate measurement consistency. The accuracy of biometric measurements in prediction of MCD was assessed using the area under the receiver-operating-characteristics curves (AUC). RESULTS: Fetuses with MCD had a significantly decreased CCL, height (genu and splenium), and area as compared with those of normal fetuses (P < .05), but there was no significant difference in body height (P = .326). The CCL/ICOFD, CCL/FL, and CCL/VD ratios were significantly decreased in fetuses with MCD when compared with controls (P < .05). The CCL/ICOFD ratio offered the highest predictive accuracy for MCD, yielding an AUC of 0.856 (95% CI: 0.774-0.938, P < .001), followed by CCL/FL ratio (AUC, 0.780 (95% CI: 0.657-0.904), P < .001), CCL/VD ratio (AUC, 0.677 (95% CI: 0.559-0.795), P < .01). CONCLUSION: The corpus callosum biometric parameters in fetuses with MCD are reduced. The CCL/ICOFD ratio derived from sonographic measurements is considered a promising tool for the prenatal detection of cortical malformations. External validation of these findings and prospective studies are warranted.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Recently, the effect of artificial light at night (ALAN) on the physiology and behavior of insects has gradually attracted the attention of researchers and has become a new research topic. Aedes albopictus is an important vector that poses a great public health risk. Further studies on the diapause of Ae. albopictus can provide a basis for new vector control, and it is also worth exploring whether the effect of ALAN on the diapause of Ae. albopictus will provide a reference for the prevention and control of infectious diseases mediated by Ae. albopictus. METHODS: In this study, we experimentally studied the diapause characteristics of different geographical strains of Ae. albopictus under the interference of ALAN, explored the effect of ALAN on the diapause of Ae. albopictus and explored the molecular mechanism of ALAN on the diapause process through RNA-seq. RESULTS: As seen from the diapause incidence, Ae. albopictus of the same geographic strain showed a lower diapause incidence when exposed to ALAN. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were mainly enriched in signaling and metabolism-related pathways in the parental females and diapause eggs of the ALAN group. CONCLUSIONS: ALAN inhibits Ae. albopictus diapause. In the short photoperiod induced diapause of Ae. albopictus in temperate strain Beijing and subtropical strain Guangzhou, the disturbance of ALAN reduced the egg diapause rate and increased the egg hatching rate of Ae. albopictus, and the disturbance of ALAN also shortened the life cycle of Ae. albopictus eggs after hatching.

RESUMO

Dipterocarpoideae species form the emergent layer of Asian rainforests. They are the indicator species for Asian rainforest distribution, but they are severely threatened. Here, to understand their adaptation and population decline, we assemble high-quality genomes of seven Dipterocarpoideae species including two autotetraploid species. We estimate the divergence time between Dipterocarpoideae and Malvaceae and within Dipterocarpoideae to be 108.2 (97.8‒118.2) and 88.4 (77.7‒102.9) million years ago, and we identify a whole genome duplication event preceding dipterocarp lineage diversification. We find several genes that showed a signature of selection, likely associated with the adaptation to Asian rainforests. By resequencing of two endangered species, we detect an expansion of effective population size after the last glacial period and a recent sharp decline coinciding with the history of local human activities. Our findings contribute to understanding the diversification and adaptation of dipterocarps and highlight anthropogenic disturbances as a major factor in their endangered status.

RESUMO

Background: Increasing evidence has highlighted that systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), a recently developed prognostic biomarker that utilizes peripheral platelet, lymphocyte and neutrophil counts, is associated with unfavorable prognosis in various tumors. Nevertheless, the prognostic significance of SII in high-grade gliomas patients undergoing radical resection remains unclear. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the potential of SII as a prognostic biomarker in this patient population. Methods: A total of 111 adult patients with high-grade gliomas who underwent radical resection were consecutively enrolled in this investigation. The study involved the categorization of patients into high and low SII groups using predetermined cut-off values. Subsequently, forward stepwise logistic regression was employed to identify autonomous predictors for early gliomas recurrence. To mitigate the impact of confounding factors, a propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed between high and low SII patients. Finally, the Kaplan-Meier approach was utilized to compare the progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of the two groups. Results: The study involved the categorization of patients into two groups based on their SII levels, namely high SII (> 604.8) and low SII (≤ 604.8) groups. Forward stepwise logistic regression revealed that high SII (p < 0.001) and tumor size ≥ 50 mm (p < 0.001) were significantly related to early recurrence of gliomas. Furthermore, the results indicate that PFS and OS were significantly shorter in the high SII group compared to the low SII group, both before and after PSM (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Preoperative biomarker SII can serve as a prognostic biomarker for early recurrence and prognosis in patients with high-grade gliomas undergoing radical resection. Furthermore, the combination of tumor size and SII demonstrates a robust predictive capacity for early recurrence and prognosis in this patient population.

RESUMO

Aedes albopictus (Skuse) (Diptera: Culicidae) is one of the 100 most invasive species in the world and represents a significant threat to public health. The distribution of Ae. albopictus has been expanding rapidly due to increased international trade, population movement, global warming and accelerated urbanization. Consequently, it is very important to know the potential distribution area of Ae. albopictus in advance for early warning and control of its spread and invasion. We randomly selected 282 distribution sites from 27 provincial-level administrative regions in China, and used the GARP and MaxEnt models to analyze and predict the current and future distribution areas of Ae. albopictus in China. The results showed that the current range of Ae. albopictus in China covers most provinces such as Yunnan and Guizhou Provinces, and the distribution of Ae. albopictus in border provinces such as Tibet, Gansu and Jilin Provinces tend to expand westwards. In addition, the potential distribution area of Ae. albopictus in China will continue to expand westwards due to future climate change under the SSP126 climate scenario. Furthermore, the results of environmental factor filtering showed that temperature and precipitation had a large effect on the distribution probability of Ae. albopictus.

RESUMO

Novel therapeutics have significantly improved the survival and quality of life of patients with malignancies in this century. Versatile precision diagnostic data were used to formulate personalized therapeutic strategies for patients. However, the cost of extensive information depends on the consumption of the specimen, raising the challenges of effective specimen utilization, particularly in small biopsies. In this study, we proposed a tissue-processing cascaded protocol that obtains 3-dimensional (3D) protein expression spatial distribution and mutation analysis from an identical specimen. In order to reuse the thick section tissue evaluated after the 3D pathology technique, we designed a novel high-flatness agarose-embedded method that could improve tissue utilization rate by 1.52 fold, whereas it reduced the tissue-processing time by 80% compared with the traditional paraffin-embedding method. In animal studies, we demonstrated that the protocol would not affect the results of DNA mutation analysis. Furthermore, we explored the utility of this approach in non-small cell lung cancer because it is a compelling application for this innovation. We used 35 cases including 7 cases of biopsy specimens of non-small cell lung cancer to simulate future clinical application. The cascaded protocol consumed 150-µm thickness of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded specimens, providing 3D histologic and immunohistochemical information approximately 38 times that of the current paraffin-embedding protocol, and 3 rounds of DNA mutation analysis, offering both essential guidance for routine diagnostic evaluation and advanced information for precision medicine. Our designed integrated workflow provides an alternative way for pathological examination and paves the way for multidimensional tumor tissue assessment.

RESUMO

Monocots are a major taxon within flowering plants, have unique morphological traits, and show an extraordinary diversity in lifestyle. To improve our understanding of monocot origin and evolution, we generate chromosome-level reference genomes of the diploid Acorus gramineus and the tetraploid Ac. calamus, the only two accepted species from the family Acoraceae, which form a sister lineage to all other monocots. Comparing the genomes of Ac. gramineus and Ac. calamus, we suggest that Ac. gramineus is not a potential diploid progenitor of Ac. calamus, and Ac. calamus is an allotetraploid with two subgenomes A, and B, presenting asymmetric evolution and B subgenome dominance. Both the diploid genome of Ac. gramineus and the subgenomes A and B of Ac. calamus show clear evidence of whole-genome duplication (WGD), but Acoraceae does not seem to share an older WGD that is shared by most other monocots. We reconstruct an ancestral monocot karyotype and gene toolkit, and discuss scenarios that explain the complex history of the Acorus genome. Our analyses show that the ancestors of monocots exhibit mosaic genomic features, likely important for that appeared in early monocot evolution, providing fundamental insights into the origin, evolution, and diversification of monocots.

RESUMO

Purpose: To establish a precise diagnostic method for serosal invasion in gastric cancer (GC) during surgery using therapeutic measures, and facilitate quick decision-making. Methods: A total of 19 GC patients treated in the department of gastrointestinal surgery of Fujian Provincial Hospital between April 2019 and December 2020 were enrolled. An electronic gastroscopy with a magnifying endoscope with narrow-band imaging was used to photograph the serosal surface of the GC lesion site and the normal gastric wall around the lesion during surgery. The endoscopic diagnosis was confirmed on the basis of the microvascular phenotype of the serosal surface and validated by comparison with the pathological diagnosis. Results: Under the specific endoscopy, serosal invasion, including subserosal tissue invasion and serosal layer invasion, was diagnosed by observing the capillary morphology change, and capillary diameter and density increase. According to the pathological diagnosis, the accuracy of serosal invasion diagnosis was 94.7%, the sensitivity was 100%, the specificity was 75%, the positive predictive value was 93.8%, and the negative predictive value was 100%. To further distinguish the subserosal tissue invasion and serosal layer invasion, the magnifying endoscope with narrow-band imaging possessed a 78.9% accuracy by distinguishing irregular changes in microvessels. Conclusions: Magnifying endoscope with narrow-band imaging is less time-consuming than pathological diagnosis. Intraoperative diagnosis using microvascular observation can accurately detect serosal invasion. It is of value for the intraoperative diagnosis in GC patients.

RESUMO

AIM: To evaluate the correlation between Demodex infestation and keratitis, and to assess demodicosis using a simple approach. METHODS: A modified slit lamp illumination (at 40× magnification) was used to observe Demodex tails in 40 patients with refractory keratitis and 80 healthy controls. Bacterial smear and culture of the conjunctival sac and corneal lesion were performed to identify the pathogen. Tea tree oil ointment (TTOO) was added as a Demodex killing agent for lid scrubs to the treatment when Demodex infestation was confirmed. RESULTS: Demodex tails were found in all patients compared to 42/80 of the controls (P<0.01). Seventeen patients presented blepharitis, while 23 were free of scales and inflammation at the lid margin. The demodicosis was mild, moderate, and severe in 8, 19, and 13 patients, respectively, compared to mild in 42 controls (P<0.01). The keratitis was mild, moderate, and severe in 13, 19, and 8 patients, respectively. The severity of Demodex infestation was not correlated to the severity of keratitis (P=0.126). The growth of Staphylococcus was revealed in nine patients who did not react to antibiotic eye drops prior to the TTOO treatment. Patients' signs and symptoms got resolved after the lid scrub with TTOO. CONCLUSION: Ocular Demodex needs to be checked and treated in refractory keratitis patients with or without blepharitis. A slit-lamp illumination under high magnification favors the judgment of the severity of Demodex infestation.

RESUMO

Body mass index (BMI) has been increasing globally in recent decades. Previous studies reported that BMI was associated with sex hormone levels, but the results were generated via linear regression or logistic regression, which would lose part of information. Quantile regression analysis can maximize the use of variable information. Our study compared the associations among different regression models. The participants were recruited from the Center of Reproductive Medicine, The First Hospital of Jilin University (Changchun, China) between June 2018 and June 2019. We used linear, logistic, and quantile regression models to calculate the associations between sex hormone levels and BMI. In total, 448 men were included in this study. The average BMI was 25.7 (standard deviation [s.d.]: 3.7) kg m-2; 29.7% (n = 133) of the participants were normal weight, 45.3% (n = 203) of the participants were overweight, and 23.4% (n = 105) of the participants were obese. The levels of testosterone and estradiol significantly differed among BMI groups (all P < 0.05). In linear regression and logistic regression, BMI was associated with testosterone and estradiol levels (both P < 0.05). In quantile regression, BMI was negatively associated with testosterone levels in all quantiles after adjustment for age (all P < 0.05). BMI was positively associated with estradiol levels in most quantiles (≤80th) after adjustment for age (all P < 0.05). Our study suggested that BMI was one of the influencing factors of testosterone and estradiol. Of note, the quantile regression showed that BMI was associated with estradiol only up to the 80th percentile of estradiol.

RESUMO

C1q/tumor necrosis factor (TNF) related proteins (CTRPs) is a newly discovered adipokine family with conservative structure and ubiquitous distribution and is secreted by adipose tissues. Recently, CTRPs have attracted increasing attention due to the its wide-ranging effects upon inflammation and metabolism. To-date, 15 members of CTRPs (CTRP1-15) with the characteristic C1q domain have been characterized. Earlier in-depth phenotypic analyses of mouse models of CTRPs deficiency have also unveiled ample function of CTRPs in inflammation and metabolism. This review focuses on the rise of CTRPs, with a special emphasis on the latest discoveries with regards to the effects of the CTRP family on inflammation and metabolism as well as related diseases. We first introduced the structure of characteristic domain and polymerization of CTRPs to reveal its pleiotropic biological functions. Next, intimate association of CTRP family with inflammation and metabolism, as well as the involvement of CTRPs as nodes in complex molecular networks, were elaborated. With expanding membership of CTRP family, the information presented here provides new perspectives for therapeutic strategies to improve inflammatory and metabolic abnormalities.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The optimal number of cycles of induction chemotherapy (IC) in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC) is unclear. We aimed to combine the tumor response during IC and tumor stage to individualize the number of IC cycles. METHODS: Totally, 498 LANPC patients who received IC plus CCRT between 2014 and 2018 were reviewed. Tumor response during IC was used to stratify patients with different risks. All patients were classified into those who received two cycles of IC and those who were treated with three cycles. Propensity score matching methods were performed to compare the treatment efficiency. RESULTS: After two cycles of IC, 340/498 (68.3%) cases showed complete tumor response (CR)/partial response (PR) and 158 (31.7%) achieved stable disease (SD)/disease progression (PD). Unfavorable responders (SD/PD) exhibited poor survival outcomes. The three-cycle IC regimen was correlated with better OS and PFS than the two-cycle regimen for N2-3 patients in the CR/PR group. However, the use of different IC cycle strategies achieved similar survival outcomes for SD/PD or N0-1 patients. The incidences of acute toxicities were higher in the IC = 3 group. CONCLUSIONS: Tumor response during IC could be a powerful predictor of LANPC and could be used to guide the individualized number of IC cycles. A three-cycle IC regimen seemed to be preferable for N2-3 patients who received CR/PR during IC. However, an additional cycle of IC could not benefit N0-1 or SD/PD patients, and the optimal treatment strategies for these patients require further consideration.

RESUMO

Aedes albopictus is an indigenous primary vector of dengue and Zika viruses in China. Understanding the population spatial genetic structure, migration, and gene flow of vector species is critical to effectively preventing and controlling vector-borne diseases. The genetic variation and population structure of Ae. albopictus populations collected from 22 cities along the Yangtze River Basin were investigated with nine microsatellite loci and the mitochondrial CoxI gene. The polymorphic information content (PIC) values ranged from 0.534 to 0.871. The observed number of alleles (Na) values ranged from 5.455 to 11.455, and the effective number of alleles (Ne) values ranged from 3.106 to 4.041. The Shannon Index (I) ranged from 1.209 to 1.639. The observed heterozygosity (Ho) values ranged from 0.487 to 0.545. The FIS value ranged from 0.047 to 0.212. All Ae. albopictus populations were adequately allocated to three clades with significant genetic differences. Haplotype 2 is the most primitive molecular type and forms 26 other haplotypes after one or more site mutations. The rapid expansion of high-speed rail, aircraft routes and highways along the Yangtze River Basin have accelerated the dispersal and communication of mosquitoes, which appears to have contributed to inhibited population differentiation and promoted genetic diversity among Ae. albopictus populations.

RESUMO

Purpose: We aimed to select optimal candidates benefiting from the addition of induction chemotherapy (IC) to concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in advanced N-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Patients and Methods: A total of 624 NPC patients with N2-3 stage received CCRT with or without IC were retrospectively reviewed. We constructed a nomogram for predicting overall survival (OS) based on the result of the multivariate analysis in the training cohort (n = 468) and then tested it on the validation cohort (n = 156). Harrell's concordance indices (C-index) and time-independent receiver operating characteristic (tdROC) analysis were applied to evaluate the discriminatory ability of the nomogram and compare it with TNM staging. IC plus CCRT was compared with CCRT in the whole cohort and two risk groups based on the nomogram with balanced baseline characteristics. In addition, acute toxicities were compared between different treatment groups. Results: The nomogram showed good prognostic accuracy with a C-index of 0.716 (95% CI 0.669-0.763) in the validation cohort. The 5-year OS of low and high-risk groups stratified by the nomogram were significantly different. IC+CCRT was significantly associated with superior OS as compared with CCRT (75.4 vs 52.6%, p = 0.009) in the high-risk group. However, no significant difference between IC plus CCRT and CCRT was observed (p = 0.843) in the low-risk group. IC plus CCRT was associated with more grade 1-4 acute toxicities. Conclusion: Our study can help clinicians select NPC patients with advanced N stage who benefit from IC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Nomograms specifically used to predict the prognosis of ascending type nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) have not been constructed. METHODS: Data of ascending type (T3-4N0-1M0) NPC from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database between 2004 and 2015 were extracted. RESULTS: Altogether 862 patients with ascending type NPC were enrolled, including 603 in training cohort and 259 in validation cohort. Age, marital status, pathology, grade, tumor size, T classification, and chemotherapy were the independent prognostic factors for overall survival (OS). Age, marital status, pathology, grade, and chemotherapy were the independent prognostic factors for cancer-specific survival (CSS). In training cohort, the concordance index of the OS and CSS nomograms were 0.694 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.677-0.711) and 0.678 (95%CI, 0.659-0.697), respectively, while those in validation cohort were 0.740 (95%CI, 0.715-0.765) and 0.708 (95%CI, 0.679-0.737), separately. CONCLUSION: The as-constructed nomograms for ascending type NPC could provide accurate prognostic predictions of OS and CSS.

RESUMO

Induction chemotherapy (IC) plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) and CCRT alone were the optional treatment regimens for T3-4N1M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. Therefore, we established a nomogram to predict clinical prognosis and guide individualized IC in T3-4N1M0 NPC. Overall, 699 T3-4N1M0 NPC patients treated with CCRT with or without IC between January 2010 and December 2018 were examined. Overall survival (OS) was the main endpoint. A nomogram was developed that included prognostic variables selected by multivariable analysis. The risk score, which was calculated according to the nomogram, was used for risk stratification. The survival difference of patients undergoing CCRT with or without IC was then compared in risk-stratified subgroups. The nomogram yielded C-indexes of 0.708 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.682-0.734) in the training cohort and 0.670 (95% CI: 0.625-0.715) in the validation cohort. Calibration curves for 1-, 3- and 5-year OS suggested a good association between the nomogram predicted and observed probabilities. High-risk patients stratified by nomogram benefited from IC (IC + CCRT vs CCRT: 5-year OS: 77.8% vs 58.8%; P = 0.040; 5-year disease-free survival: 75.0% vs 58.2%; P = 0.017), whereas in the low-risk group, the application of IC was associated with worse locoregional recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival. This nomogram can serve as a reliable model for prognostic prediction and can be used to guide individualized treatment of T3-4N1M0 NPC. High-risk patients are candidates for IC before CCRT, while the use of IC for low-risk patients should be considered carefully.

RESUMO

Objectives: To examine associations between maternal sulfur dioxide (SO2) exposure and congenital ear malformations risk in offspring. Methods: We surveyed 1676 cases with congenital ear malformations and 7950 controls from the Maternal and Child Health Certificate Registry of Liaoning Province between 2010 and 2015. SO2 concentrations were obtained from the Municipal Environment Protection Bureau of Liaoning Province. Multivariable logistic regression models and Restricted cubic splines (RCS) model were used to assess the aforementioned association. Results: There were significant associations between maternal SO2 exposure and congenital ear malformations risk during the 3 months before conception (OR Q4 vs. Q1 = 1.93, 95% CI = 1.43-2.59) and the 3 months after conception (OR Q4 vs. Q1 = 1.63, 95% CI = 1.22-2.18). Similar results were obtained in the analysis of single-month exposure windows, except for the third month before conception and the third month after conception. Moreover, these findings were broadly consistent across subgroups and robust in sensitivity analyses. There were non-linear dose-response associations between SO2 exposure and congenital ear malformations based on restricted cubic spline model analysis. Conclusion: Maternal SO2 exposure is associated with increased congenital ear malformations risk in offspring.

RESUMO

To improve our understanding of the origin and evolution of mycoheterotrophic plants, we here present the chromosome-scale genome assemblies of two sibling orchid species: partially mycoheterotrophic Platanthera zijinensis and holomycoheterotrophic Platanthera guangdongensis. Comparative analysis shows that mycoheterotrophy is associated with increased substitution rates and gene loss, and the deletion of most photoreceptor genes and auxin transporter genes might be linked to the unique phenotypes of fully mycoheterotrophic orchids. Conversely, trehalase genes that catalyse the conversion of trehalose into glucose have expanded in most sequenced orchids, in line with the fact that the germination of orchid non-endosperm seeds needs carbohydrates from fungi during the protocorm stage. We further show that the mature plant of P. guangdongensis, different from photosynthetic orchids, keeps expressing trehalase genes to hijack trehalose from fungi. Therefore, we propose that mycoheterotrophy in mature orchids is a continuation of the protocorm stage by sustaining the expression of trehalase genes. Our results shed light on the molecular mechanism underlying initial, partial and full mycoheterotrophy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To evaluate the clinical significance of tumor response to induction chemotherapy (IC) in locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC) patients and further to develop a nomogram for predicting survival prognosis. METHODS: A total of 498 patients with stage III-IVA NPC applying IC and concurrent chemotherapy were reviewed (training cohort, n = 376; validation cohort, n = 122). RESULTS: Tumor response was an independent predictor for clinical outcomes. The nomogram included age, N stage, pretreatment Epstein-Barr virus DNA, lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, and tumor response achieved an ideal C-index of 0.703 (95% CI 0.655-0.751) in the validation cohort for predicting overall survival (OS), which outperformed than that of the TNM system alone (C-index, 0.670, 95% CI: 0.622-0.718). In addition, the nomogram could successfully classified patients into different risk groups. CONCLUSIONS: We established and validated a precise and convenient nomogram based on tumor response for predicting the OS of LANPC patients.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We report a prenatal case of male fetus with a 2q13 deletion and an Xq27.3q28 duplication, presenting nasal bone dysplasia by ultrasound examination. And we compare the similarities of clinical features of cases consisting of similar 2q deletion and Xq duplication. CASE REPORT: A 30-year-old woman was referred for prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling at 24 weeks of gestation. Prenatal ultrasound showed nasal bone dysplasia of the fetus. Amniocentesis revealed the karyotype of the fetus as 46, XY and the results of chromosomal microarray analysis was arr[GRCh37] 2q13(110467258-111370025)x1, arr[GRCh37]Xq27.3q28(144050780-149748782)x2. The parents both have normal karyotypes. The couple chose to continue the pregnancy and finally delivered a male infant at 39 weeks of gestation. His weight was 2850 g and length was 50 cm. Physical examination of the newborn revealed no apparent anomalies. Until the boy was one year old, there was no abnormalities in his growth and development. The long-term follow-up till adulthood for the healthy infant is necessary. CONCLUSION: The development of CMA plays a critical role in prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling for unidentified chromosomal anomalies. More clinical information and further studies of patients with these anomalies will identify the pathogenicity of the involving genes and improve the understanding of the phenotype-genotype correlation.
