RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the effects of exercise on executive function in children, providing an evidence-based foundation to inform future research in school physical education and health education. Methods: We searched ten databases: Cochrane Library, Scopus, OVID, Web of Science, PubMed, EBSCOhost, SPORTDiscus, PsycINFO, CNKI, WANFANG DATA, VIP, and SinoMed, and eight articles were included. Applying the revised Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for Randomized Trials (RoB2), funnel plots and Egger regression analysis were integrated with R meta-analysis to screen for publication bias. The quality of the evidence was appraised using the Grading system. Results: The included literature contained 2655 participants, with 1308 in the experimental group and 1347 in the control group. The results indicated that the aerobic exercise group considerably improved inhibitory control in children compared to the control group [SMD = 0.29, 95% CI (0.05, 0.54), P = 0.018]; working memory [SMD = 0.25, 95% CI (0.07, 0.42), P = 0.005]; and cognitive flexibility [SMD = 0.36, 95% CI (0.17, 0.54), P < 0.001]. However, the findings indicated that only aerobic exercise interventions extending beyond 50 weeks positively influenced academic performance in children [SMD = 1.19, 95% CI (0.34, 2.04), P = 0.006]. The results of an Egger regression analysis revealed that the p-values for inhibitory control, working memory, cognitive flexibility, and academic performance were more significant than 0.1. The Grade system said that the quality of evidence was all low regarding the level of evidence. Conclusion: Aerobic exercise enhanced executive function but only aerobic exercise interventions extending beyond 50 weeks demonstrated a significant effect on the academic performance of children. Due to the low quality of evidence presented in this study, additional high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

RESUMO

Background: With the improvement of people's living standards, how to maintain health and delay aging to improve the quality of life and achieve longevity has become a hot topic of concern. objective. To investigate the effect of acupuncture combined with exercise on the expression of immune factors in aging rats and its significance in antiaging intervention. Materials and Methods: Forty-three SD rats included 12 rats in the control group, and the remaining rats were injected intraperitoneally with D-galactose 500 mg/kg to prepare a subacute aging rat model. The 24 rats that were successfully modeled were divided into acupuncture exercise groups and exercise groups according to the random number table method, with 12 rats in each group. After the modeling, the comparison group did not do any intervention, the exercise group was given aerobic exercise intervention, and the acupuncture exercise group was given acupuncture combined with exercise intervention. The effect of immune factor expression in rats was compared. Results: The levels of IgM, IgA, and IgG in the acupuncture exercise group were significantly higher than those in the exercise group (P < 0.05). The IL-10 content in the acupuncture exercise group was significantly higher than that in the exercise group (P < 0.05) and was significantly reduced in the acupuncture exercise group compared with the comparison group (P < 0.05). The level of IL-6 in the acupuncture exercise group was significantly lower than that in the exercise group, and the level of IL-6 in the acupuncture exercise group was significantly increased compared with the comparison group (P < 0.05). The C3 and C4 levels in the acupuncture exercise group were significantly higher than those in the exercise group (P < 0.05). The levels of IFN-γ and TNP-α were significantly lower in the acupuncture exercise group than in the exercise group and significantly increased in the acupuncture exercise group compared with the comparison group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Ling turtle eight method acupuncture combined with exercise promoted the development of immune organ spleen, enhances the body's immune function and complement system, inhibits the immune inflammatory response and regulates immune balance, reduces the inflammatory response caused by the aging of D-type galactose, and achieves the effect of delaying aging.

RESUMO

Statistical surveillance for covariance matrices has attracted increasing attention recently. Many approaches have been developed for monitoring general shifts that are arbitrary deviations, as well as sparse shifts occurring in only a few elements. This paper considers directional shifts that occur in only one independent parameter, which is common if the process is relatively stable. A directional covariance matrix control chart is proposed, which fully exploits directional shift information and borrows the strong power of likelihood ratio test. Therefore, this chart provides a powerful tool for monitoring covariance matrices. In addition, the proposed chart does not require specifying the regularisation parameter, and it enjoys a concise quadratic form, thereby easy to implement. Furthermore, this chart naturally leads to a diagnostic prescription for identifying the shifting element in the covariance matrix. Simulation results have demonstrated the efficiency of the suggested control chart and its accompanying diagnostic scheme.

RESUMO

This study was aimed to investigate the cardioprotective and antioxidant effect of Vaccinium meridionale Swartz in ischemia-induced male albino Wistar strain rats. Rats were grouped into 5 of 6 numbers each. Group I served as a sham, group II served as control and group III, IV, and V served for 1, 10, and 25 mg/kg/d of an extract of Vaccinium meridionale Swartz for 15 consecutive days of treatment. Serum marker enzymes, lipid peroxidation, and myeloperoxidase were increased, whereas antioxidant enzymes were reduced in control due to injury. Increased phenol and anthocyanin contents and increased free radical scavenging activity was noted following treatment. Serum marker enzymes, necrosis, and lipid peroxidation, were reduced, whereas antioxidant enzymes and reduced glutathione were increased. Nitric oxide synthase and Akt expression were also increased following treatment. Taking all these data together, it is suggested that Vaccinium meridionale Swartz may be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of ischemic injury.

RESUMO

The objective of this study was to develop a novel type of an antisense oligonucleotide (OGX-011) loaded Tat-tagged and folate-modified N-succinyl-chitosan (Tat-Suc-FA) nanoparticles (NPs) for improving tumor targetability. In this study, Tat-Suc-FA/OGX-011NPs were prepared and its physicochemical characterizations were also evaluated. The nanoparticles showed an average diameter of 73 ± 16.6 nm, the zeta potential of +23.6 ± 0.3 mV, and a high entrapment efficiency of 89.6 ± 6.6%. Transmission electron microscopy analysis showed the nanoparticles were mostly spherical and well dispersed. The delivery efficiency of this system was investigated both in vitro and in vivo. In comparison with nontargeted Lipofectamin2000/OGX-011 and free OGX-011, Tat-Suc-FA/GOX-011 showed the highest apoptosis rate of 14.2% ± 1.8% and significant uptake in A549 cells. Tat-Suc-FA NPs loaded with GOX-011 induced significant down-regulation of s-CLU mRNA and protein levels in A549 cells. In A549 tumor-bearing mice model, Tat-Suc-FA/GOX-011 produced a more efficient down-regulation of s-CLU compared to Lipofectamin2000/OGX-011. Furthermore, the combined use of Tat-Suc-FA/OGX-011 with DDP chemotherapy showed a most significant inhibition of tumor growth and greatly enhanced the survival rate of A549 tumor-bearing mice. These findings suggested successful application of Tat-Suc-FA NPs for the high efficiency and specificity in therapeutic delivery of OGX-011 to A549 cells.

RESUMO

In search of an effective and less toxic absorption enhancer, we synthesized primary amine acetylation of generation 2 polyamidoamine (G2 PAMAM) dendrimer (Ac-G2) by the reaction of G2 PAMAM dendrimer with acetic anhydride, and evaluated the effects of Ac-G2 on the intestinal absorption of poorly absorbable water-soluble drugs using an in situ closed-loop method in rats. The results indicated that Ac50-G2 had a greatest absorption enhancing effect for 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein (CF) in various acetylation levels of G2 PAMAM dendrimers. Ac50-G2 with various concentrations (0.1-1.0%, w/v) could significantly improve the intestinal absorption of alendronate, CF, and fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled dextrans (FD4), although they did not enhance the absorption of macromolecular drug of FD10, and the absorption enhancement effect of Ac50-G2 was concentration-dependent. Furthermore, we examined the intestinal membrane damage with or without Ac50-G2. The results displayed Ac50-G2 at lower concentrations (0.1-0.5%, w/v) did not cause any observed toxic effect to the intestinal membranes. These findings suggested Ac50-G2 at lower concentrations (below 0.5%, w/v) might be promising as an effective and safe absorption enhancers to promote the intestinal absorption of poorly absorbable drugs.

RESUMO

The generation 4-poly-amidoamine-dendrimers (PAMAM G4 dendrimer, P) was conjugated to Tat peptide (Tat, T), a cell-penetrating peptide, in search of an efficient anti-tumor drug delivery vehicle for cancer therapy. In this study, we synthesized BODIPY-labeled Tat-Conjugated PAMAM dendrimers (BPTs) as a novel nanosized anticancer drug carriers and systemically investigated their biodistribution and the tumor accumulation in Sarcoma 180-bearing mice. In addition, the uptake and the cytotoxicity to S180 cells of BPTs thereof were evaluated. The unmodified dendrimer (BP) showed a soon clearance from the blood stream and nonspecific accumulation in tumor. In contrast, the Tat-modified dendrimer, BPT(64) with appropriate particle size showed a better retention in blood and could be accumulated effectively in tumor tissue via the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. Moreover, BPTs with a high Tat modification rate was accumulated more effectively in tumor tissue. In vitro experiments, these BPTs displayed low cytotoxicity on S180 cells and high uptake to S180 cells. These findings indicate that the nanoparticulate system on the basis of Tat-conjugated PAMAM dendrimers is safer and effective in the concentration range (below 20 µg/ml) to be used as a carrier of anti-tumor drugs for tumor targeting by intravenous administration.

RESUMO

The purpose of this research was to prepare a novel type of Tat tagged and folate modified N-succinyl-chitosan (Tat-Suc-FA) self-assembly nanoparticles, to provide a new vector for tumor gene therapy. In this study, Tat-Suc-FA polymers was synthesized and characterized using (1)H NMR and FT-IR. The copolymer had a mean diameter of 65 ± 22.6 nm, a zeta potential of 40 ± 0.2 mV. The cytotoxicity assay showed that Tat-Suc-FA polymers were less toxic than chitosan in the tested concentration range (from 2 to 500 µg/ml). Tat-Suc-FA/DNA complexes at various weight ratios were formulated and characterized. Particle sizes of Tat-Suc-FA/DNA complexes were between 54 and 106 nm as determined by dynamic light scattering. Accordingly, Transmission electron microscope photo of Tat-Suc-FA/DNA complexes exhibited a spherical and compact morphology. Zeta potentials of these complexes changed as the weight ratio varied (from 3 to 44 mV). Agarose gel electrophoresis assay showed that Tat-Suc-FA could efficiently condense the DNA, when the weight ratio was above 1.5/1. Together, these results suggest that the low toxic Tat-Suc-FA cationic polymers could be considered for use as a novel type of gene delivery vectors.
