RESUMO

The main aim of this study was to evaluate the current state of bibliometric and altmetric research output of [225Ac]Ac-Prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) and its implications for prostate cancer (PC). Both PubMed and Scopus digital libraries were systematically explored to retrieve relevant data on the topic of interest. The study of various bibliometric and altmetric indices was facilitated through the use of Microsoft Excel, Stata (Version 17.0), and VOSviewer (Version 1.6) Softwares. The parameters included in this study comprised the examination of published articles, annual trends, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and co-occurring keywords. From 2014 to 2024, our study examined a total of 100 publications within the given domain. The studies that received the highest citations primarily centered on the crucial topic of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, with a particular emphasis on evaluating the safety and effectiveness of [225Ac]Ac-PSMA therapy. Moreover, much scholarly inquiry has been devoted to examining the [225Ac]Ac-PSMA adverse effects. Three high prolific countries (namely, Germany, United States, and South Africa) dominated the research render in terms of publications and citations. Finally, A strong correlation was observed between altmetric score and citation number (P < 0.001). The observed surge in scholarly research output and altmetric indicators associated with [225Ac]Ac-PSMA signifies a shift in emphasis towards embracing alpha targeted therapy in PC.

Serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) needs to be monitored with ultrasensitive PSA assays (uPSAs) for oncologists to be able to start salvage radiotherapy (SRT) while PSA is <0.5 µg/L for patients with prostate cancer (PCa) relapsing after a radical prostatectomy (RP). Our systematic review (SR) aimed to summarize uPSAs for patients with localized PCa. The SR was registered as InPLASY2023110084. We searched for studies on Google Scholar, PUBMED and reference lists of reviews and studies. We only included studies on uPSAs published in English and excluded studies of women, animals, sarcoidosis and reviews. Of the 115 included studies, 39 reported PSA assay methods and 76 reported clinical findings. Of 67,479 patients, 14,965 developed PSA recurrence (PSAR) and 2663 died. Extremely low PSA nadir and early developments of PSA separated PSAR-prone from non-PSAR-prone patients (cumulative p value 3.7 × 1012). RP patients with the lowest post-surgery PSA nadir and patients who had the lowest PSA at SRT had the fewest deaths. In conclusion, PSA for patients with localized PCa in the pre-PSAR phase of PCa is strongly associated with later PSAR and survival. A rising but still exceedingly low PSA at SRT predicts a good 5-year overall survival.

We review the rationale, methodology, and clinical utility of quantitative [18F] sodium fluoride ([18F]NaF) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) imaging to measure bone metabolic flux (Ki, also known as bone plasma clearance), a measurement indicative of the local rate of bone formation at the chosen region of interest. We review the bone remodelling cycle and explain what aspects of bone remodelling are addressed by [18F]NaF PET-CT. We explain how the technique works, what measurements are involved, and what makes [18F]NaF PET-CT a useful tool for the study of bone remodelling. We discuss how these measurements can be simplified without loss of accuracy to make the technique more accessible. Finally, we briefly review some key clinical applications and discuss the potential for future developments. We hope that the simplified method described here will assist in promoting the wider use of the technique.

RESUMO

Pazopanib is a multi-kinase inhibitor that is currently approved for treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma and chemotherapy-refractory soft tissue sarcoma. In this case report, we discuss the case of a patient with a EWSR1-NFATC2 fusion positive bone sarcoma who had exceptional tumor control through using pazopanib and surgery for an overall duration exceeding 5 years. We also review the literature on EWSR1-NFATC2 translocation-associated sarcomas and use of pazopanib in bone sarcomas.

RESUMO

Prostate cancer is dependent on the action of steroid hormones on the receptors. Endocrine therapy inhibits hormone production or blocks the receptors, thus providing clinical benefit to many, but not all, oncological patients. It is difficult to predict which patient will benefit from endocrine therapy and which will not. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging of androgen receptors (AR) may provide functional information on the likelihood of endocrine therapy response in individual patients. In this article, we review the utility of [18F]FDHT-PET imaging in prostate, breast, and other hormone-dependent cancers expressing AR. The methodologies, development, and new possibilities are discussed as well.

Background: 177Lu-PSMA-617 is a promising theragnostic treatment for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). However, both the optimal treatment dose and interval in mCRPC and the rate of identification of responders from non-responders among possible treatment candidates are unknown. Methods: 62 men with mCRPC who were treated with 177Lu-PSMA-617 during 1/2017−2/2019 were included in the study. Treatment responses, overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) were determined. The median follow-up time was 1.4 years (IQR 0.5−2.2). Tumor volume of metastases (MTV), SUVmax and tumor lesion activity (TLA) were quantitated from pre-treatment PSMA PET/CT images together with pre-treatment PSA. Results: An average of three treatment cycles (2−5) were given within a four-week interval. PFS was 4.9 months (2.4−9.6) and OS was 17.2 months (6−26.4). There were no major adverse events reported. A significant PSA response of >50% was found in 58.7% of patients, which was significantly associated with longer OS, p < 0.004. PSA response was not associated with staging PSMA-derived parameters. Conclusions: 177Lu-PSMA-617 treatment in four-week intervals was safe and effective. Almost 60% of patients had a significant PSA response, which was associated with better OS. Pre-treatment PSA kinetics or staging PSMA PET/CT-derived parameters were not helpful in identifying treatment responders from non-responders; better biomarkers are needed to aid in patient selection.

Bone is the most common metastatic site in prostate cancer (PCa). 68Ga-PSMA-11 (or gozetotide) and sodium fluoride-18 (Na18F) are rather new radiopharmaceuticals for assessing PCa-associated bone metastases. Gozetotide uptake reflects cell membrane enzyme activity and the sodium fluoride uptake measures bone mineralization in advanced PCa. Here, we aim to characterize this difference and possibly provide a new method for patient selection in targeted therapies. Methods: The study consisted of 14 patients with advanced PCa (M group > 5 lesions), who had had routine PET/CT both with PSMA and NaF over consecutive days, and 12 PCa patients with no skeletal metastases (N). The bone regions in CT were used to coregister the two PET/CT scans. The whole skeleton volume(s) of interest (VOIs) were defined using the CT component of PET (HU > 150); similarly, the sclerotic/dense bone was defined as HU > 600. Additional VOIs were defined for PET, with pathological threshold values for PSMA (SUV > 3.0) and NaF (SUV > 10). Besides the pathological bone volumes measured with each technique (CT, NaF, and PSMA-PET) and their contemporaneous combinations, overlapping VOIs with the CT-based skeletal and sclerotic volumes were also recorded. Additionally, thresholds of 4.0, 6.0, and 10.0 were tested for SUVPSMA. Results: In group M, the skeletal VOI volumes were 8.77 ± 1.80 L, and the sclerotic bone volumes were 1.32 ± 0.50 L; in contrast, in group N, they were 8.73 ± 1.43 L (skeletal) and 1.23 ± 0.28 L (sclerosis). The total enzyme activity for PSMA was 2.21 ± 5.15 in the M group and 0.078 ± 0.053 in the N group (p < 0.0002). The total bone demineralization activity for NaF varied from 4.31 ± 6.17 in the M group and 0.24 ± 0.56 in group N (p < 0.0002). The pathological PSMA volume represented 0.44−132% of the sclerotic bone volume in group M and 0.55−2.3% in group N. The pathological NaF volume in those patients with multiple metastases represented 0.27−68% of the sclerotic bone volume, and in the control group, only 0.00−6.5% of the sclerotic bone volume (p < 0.0003). Conclusions: These results confirm our earlier findings that CT alone does not suit the evaluation of the extent of active skeletal metastases in PCa. PSMA and NaF images give complementary information about the extent of the active skeletal disease, which has a clinical impact and may change its management. The PSMA and NaF absolute volumes could be used for planning targeted therapies. A cut-off value 3.0 for SUVPSMA given here is the best correlation in the presentation of active metastatic skeletal disease.

BACKGROUND: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), which ranks forth on the cancer-related death statistics still is both a diagnostic and a therapeutic challenge. Adenocarcinoma of the exocrine human pancreas originates in most instances from malignant transformation of ductal epithelial cells, alternatively by Acinar-Ductal Metaplasia (ADM). RA-96 antibody targets to a mucin M1, according to the more recent nomenclature MUC5AC, an extracellular matrix component excreted by PDAC cells. In this study, we tested the usability of multimodal nanoparticle carrying covalently coupled RA-96 Fab fragments for pancreatic tumor imaging. METHODS: In order to make and evaluate a novel, better targeting, theranostic nanoparticle, iron nanoparticles and the optical dye indocyanin green (ICG) were encapsulated into the cationic sphingomyelin (SM) consisting liposomes. RA-96 Fab fragment was conjugated to the liposomal surface of the nanoparticle to increase tumor homing ability. ICG and iron nanoparticle-encapsulated liposomes were studied in vitro with cells and (i) their visibility in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), (ii) optical, (iii) Magnetic particle spectroscopy (MPS) and (iv) photoacoustic settings was tested in vitro and also in in vivo models. The targeting ability and MRI and photoacoustic visibility of the RA-96-nanoparticles were first tested in vitro cell models where cell binding and internalization were studied. In in vivo experiments liposomal nanoparticles were injected into the tail vain using an orthotopic pancreatic tumor xenograft model and subcutaneous pancreatic cancer cell xenografts bearing mice to determine in vivo targeting abilities of RA-96-conjugated liposomes Results: Multimodal liposomes could be detected by MRI, MPS and by photoacoustic imaging in addition to optical imaging showing a wide range of imaging utility. The fluorescent imaging of ICG in pancreatic tumor cells Panc89 and Capan-2 revealed an increased association of ICG-encapsulated liposomes carrying RA-96 Fab fragments in vitro compared to the control liposomes without covalently linked RA-96. Fluorescent molecular tomography (FMT) studies showed increased accumulation of the RA96-targeted nanoparticles in the tumor area compared to non-targeted controls in vivo. Similar accumulation in the tumor sites could be seen with liposomal ferric particles in MRI. Fluorescent tumor signal was confirmed by using an intraoperative fluorescent imaging system, which showed fluorescent labeling of pancreatic tumors. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that RA-96-targeted liposomes encapsulating ICG and iron nanoparticles can be used to image pancreatic tumors with a variety of optical and magnetic imaging techniques. Additionally, they might be a suitable drug delivery tool to improve treatment of PDAC patients.

Thirty-one consecutive patients were included in this study who were planned for parathyroidectomy due to primary hyperparathyroidism. They were studied with US, 4D-CT and dual-phase scintigraphy including SPECT/CT, and possible adenomas were identified in each imaging modality. Imaging data were quantified with US, CT and SPECT. Parathyroidectomies were performed as minimally invasive according to preoperative imaging findings. A total of 16 adenomas were found in 15 patients, and the surgery was negative in four patients. The imaging results were compared with each other and correlated to histology findings and blood biochemistry (S-Ca and P-PTH). Quantitative SPECT found a strong correlation between the quantification methods-Conjugate Gradient with Attenuation and Scatter Correction with a zone map (CGZAS) and Conjugate Gradient with Attenuation and Scatter Correction (CGAS)-measured as SUVmax and kBq/mL. However, a statistically significant correlation between the quantitative parameters (CGZAS and CGAS) and serum biomarkers (S-PTH and S-Ca) was not observed. The sensitivities of the imaging methods were calculated using histopathology as a gold standard. SPECT/CT demonstrated 93% sensitivity, 4D-CT 93% sensitivity and ultrasonography 73% sensitivity. The imaging methods were compared with each other using parathyroid regions because findings and locations varied between the modalities. Our prospective study supports that quantitative SPECT/CT is useful for presurgical assessment of primary hyperparathyroidism.

Patients with osteoblastic metastases from high risk osteosarcoma continue to have a poor prognosis after progression from standard-of-care multi-agent chemotherapy. In a first-in-human dose escalation trial of bone targeted Radium 223 dichloride alpha-particle therapy in 18 patients with advanced osteosarcoma only 1 patient responded based on conventional Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST). Na18F PET response Criteria in Solid Tumors(NAFCIST), based on Sodium fluoride-18 (Na18F) positron emission tomography (PET)-CT was developed to better evaluate bone specific response. To further appreciate the spatial and temporal heterogeneity of the partial or mixed responses, a radiomics method was developed. Analyses were performed with 18F-sodium fluoride positron emission tomography imaging studies before and after alpha-particle therapy. Radioactive 18F- -atom concentrations were measured in soft-tissues, in approximately 1000 concentration data points for 18F- per 1 cm3 metastatic tumor. Data was analyzed from the SUV intensity values, the histogram of intensities and entropy values. Radiomics may inform intra-tumoral and inter-tumoral heterogeneity in response of bone forming osteosarcoma to alpha particle therapy. Each patient (and each tumor) represents an "N of 1" case and warrants in depth analysis individually.

In this systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA), we aimed to assess the benefits and harms of third-line (L3) treatments in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Two reviewers searched for publications from 1 January 2006 to 30 June 2021. The review analyzed seven RCTs that included 3958 patients and eight treatments. Treatment with prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-based radioligand therapy (PRLT) resulted in a 1.3-times-higher rate of median PSA decline ≥50% than treatment with abiraterone, enzalutamide, mitoxantrone, or cabazitaxel (p = 0.00001). The likelihood was 97.6% for PRLT to bring about the best PSA response, out of the examined treatments. PRLT resulted in a 1.1-times-higher six-month rate of median radiographic progression-free survival. Treatment with PRLT in the VISION trial resulted in 1.05-times-higher twelve-month median overall survival than L3 treatment with cabazitaxel in other RCTs. PRLT more often resulted in severe thrombocytopenia and less often in severe leukopenia than did cabazitaxel. In conclusion, for patients with mCRPC, L3 treatment with PRLT is highly effective and safe.

INTRODUCTION: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-based radioligand therapy (RLT) showed in a multicentre WARMTH (World Association of Radiopharmaceutical and Molecular Therapy) study that the presence of bone metastases is a negative prognosticator for the survival. The current multicentre retrospective analysis aims to evaluate the response rate to RLT, the overall survival (OS) of patients and the safety of the treatment according to the extent of bone involvement. METHODS: The study included patients with progressive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), who underwent RLT with [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 and a follow-up of at least 6 months. Tumour burden in the bone was classified prior to RLT as follows: less than 6 lesions, 6-20 lesions, more than 20 lesions and diffuse involvement. The response rate was evaluated using changes of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) after the first treatment cycle. Overall survival was calculated from the date of the first treatment. Haematological adverse events were classified according to Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE), version 5.0. RESULTS: A total of 319 males were included in the analysis. The extent of bone metastases and PSA response did not correlate significantly. Any PSA decline was observed in 73% patients; 44% showed a decline of ≥50%. The median OS of patient in the different subgroups was 18 months (less than 6 lesions), 13 months (6-20 lesions), 11 months (more than 20 lesions) and 8 months (diffuse involvement), respectively (p < 0.0001). Patients with prior Ra-223-therapy showed longer OS in all subgroups, especially in the subgroups with 6-20 lesions (OS: 16 vs. 12 months; p = 0.038) as well as diffuse involvement (OS: 11 vs. 7 months; p = 0.034). Significant negative prognosticators of OS were the existence of liver metastases in all subgroups and prior chemotherapy in patients with <6 bone lesions. Anaemia and thrombocytopenia correlated positively with the extent of bone metastases: p < 0.0001 and 0.005, respectively. No patient showed a high grade leukopenia. CONCLUSION: The extent of bone involvement correlated negatively with the OS after RLT; however, it showed no relevant correlation with the PSA response rate. Prior therapy with Ra-223 may have a positive impact on OS. Haematotoxicity was higher in patients with more than 20 bone lesions; nevertheless, the majority of these patients did not show a relevant haematotoxicity.

177Lu-DOTAGA-(l-y)fk(Sub-KuE) a.k.a. 177Lu-PSMA I&T is currently used for radioligand therapy (RLT) of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) in several centers in Europe. BACKGROUND: Dosimetry is mandatory according to EU guidelines, although routine methods for dosimetry, i.e., absorbed radiation dose calculations for radiopharmaceuticals, are missing. METHODS: We created a model of dosimetric analysis utilizing voxel-based dosimetry and intra-lesion radiomics to assess their practicality in routine dosimetry. RESULTS: As an example for the model, our patient with mCRPC had excellent therapy response; quantitatively more than 97% of the metastatic tumor burden in local and distant lymph nodes and skeleton was destroyed by four cycles of RLT. The absorbed radiation doses in metastases decreased towards later cycles of RLT. Besides the change of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) concentration and absorbed doses in the tumor, further response to RLT could be predicted from biomarker changes, such as LDH and PSA. CONCLUSIONS: Individual dosimetry is needed to understand large variations in tumor doses and mixed responses; for that purpose, routine tools should be developed. The Dosimetry Research Tool (DRT) fluently performed automated organ delineation and absorbed radiation dose calculations in normal organs, and the results in our patient were in good concordance with the published studies on 177Lu-PSMA dosimetry. At the same time, we experienced considerable challenges in voxel-based dosimetry of tumor lesions. Measurements of 177Lu-PSMA activity concentrations instead of absorbed radiation dose calculations could make routine dosimetry more flexible. The first cycle of RLT seems to have quantitatively the biggest impact on the therapy effect. Radiomics analyses could probably aid in the treatment optimization, but it should be tested in large patient populations.

INTRODUCTION: The impact of prior therapies, especially chemotherapy, on overall survival (OS) in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) receiving [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 therapy has been the subject of controversy. Therefore, WARMTH decided to plan a multicenter retrospective analysis (the "617 trial") to evaluate response rate and OS as well as the impact of prior therapies on OS in more than 300 patients treated with 177Lu-PSMA-617. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The data of 631 metastatic CRPC (mCRPC) patients from 11 different clinics were evaluated. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, all patients had to have received at least abiraterone or enzalutamide prior to [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 therapy. The patients were divided into three groups: patients who had received prior chemotherapy, patients who avoided chemotherapy, and patients for whom a chemotherapy was contraindicated. RESULTS: The analysis included the data of 416 patients, with a median age of 71.9 years. At the time of analysis, 87 patients (20,9%) were still alive. A total of 53.6% of patients had received both abiraterone and enzalutamide; 75.5% and 26.4% had a history of chemotherapy with docetaxel and cabazitaxel, respectively. A total of 20.4% had had Ra-223. The median OS was 11.1 months. Prior chemotherapy, the existence of bone and liver metastases, as well as Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) status, were significant prognosticators of worse overall survival in both univariate and multivariate analyses. Patients without any prior chemotherapy showed a significantly longer OS (14.6 months). The median OS in patients who received one or two lines of chemotherapy with docetaxel or docetaxel followed by cabazitaxel, respectively, was 10.9 months and 8.9 months. There was no difference in OS between patients who had not received chemotherapy and patients for whom chemotherapy was contraindicated. The other prior therapies did not have any significant impact on OS. CONCLUSION: In the present multicenter analysis, chemotherapy-naïve mCRPC patients receiving [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 therapy had a significantly longer OS than patients with a history of chemotherapy. This remained independent in the multivariate analysis besides presence of bone and liver metastases as negative prognosticators for survival, whereas an ECOG of 0-1 is associated with a longer OS.

RESUMO

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to affect men in the United States and the second most common cancer in men worldwide. Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-based positron emission tomography (PET) imaging has become increasingly popular as a novel molecular imaging technique capable of improving the clinical management of patients with prostate cancer. To date, several 68Ga and 18F-labeled PSMA-targeted molecules have shown promising results in imaging patients with recurrent prostate cancer using PET/computed tomography (PET/CT). Studies of involving PSMA-targeted radiopharmaceuticals also suggest a higher sensitivity and specificity, along with an improved detection rate over conventional imaging (CT scan and methylene diphosphonate bone scintigraphy) and 11C/18F-choline PET/CT. In addition, PSMA-617 and PSMA I&T ligands can be labeled with α- and ß-emitters (e.g., 225Ac, 90Y, and 177Lu) and serve as a theranostic tool for patients with metastatic prostate cancer. While the clinical impact of such concept remains to be verified, the preliminary results of PSMA molecular radiotherapy are very encouraging. Herein, we highlighted the current status of development and future perspectives of PSMA-targeted radiopharmaceuticals and their clinical applications.

Bone metastases are common in prostate cancer (PCa). Fluorocholine-18 (FCH) and sodium fluoride-18 (NaF) have been used to assess PCa associated skeletal disease in thousands of patients by demonstrating different mechanism of uptake-cell membrane (lipid) synthesis and bone mineralization. Here, this difference is characterized quantitatively in detail. Our study cohort consisted of 12 patients with advanced disease (> 5 lesions) (M) and of five PCa patients with no skeletal disease (N). They had routine PET/CT with FCH and NaF on consecutive days. Skeletal regions in CT were used to co-register the two PET/CT scans. Bone 3-D volume of interest (VOI) was defined on the CT of PET with a threshold of HU > 150, and sclerotic/dense bone as HU > 600, respectively. Additional VOIs were defined on PET uptake with the threshold values on both FCH (SUV > 3.5) and NaF (SUV > 10). The pathologic skeletal volumes for each technique (CT, HU > 600), NaF (SUV > 10) and FCH (SUV > 3.5) were developed and analyzed. The skeletal VOIs varied from 5.03 L to 7.31 L, whereas sclerotic bone VOIs were from 0.88 L to 2.99 L. Total choline kinase (cell membrane synthesis) activity for FCH (TCA) varied from 0.008 to 4.85 [kg] in M group and from 0.0006 to 0.085 [kg] in N group. Total accelerated osteoblastic (bone demineralization) activity for NaF (TBA varied from 0.25 to 13.6 [kg] in M group and varied from 0.000 to 1.09 [kg] in N group. The sclerotic bone volume represented only 1.86 ± 1.71% of the pathologic FCH volume and 4.07 ± 3.21% of the pathologic NaF volume in M group, and only 0.08 ± 0.09% and 0.18 ± 0.19% in N group, respectively. Our results suggest that CT alone cannot be used for the assessment of the extent of active metastatic skeletal disease in PCa. NaF and FCH give complementary information about the activity of the skeletal disease, improving diagnosis and disease staging.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of our study was to find a novel targeted imaging and drug delivery vehicle for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). IBD is a common and troublesome disease that still lacks effective therapy and imaging options. As an attempt to improve the disease treatment, we tested αMSH for the targeting of nanoliposomes to IBD sites. αMSH, an endogenous tridecapeptide, binds to the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1-R) and has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating effects. MC1-R is found on macrophages, neutrophils and the renal tubule system. We formulated and tested a liposomal nanoparticle involving αMSH in order to achieve a specific targeting to the inflamed intestines. METHODS: NDP-αMSH peptide conjugated to Alexa Fluor™ 680 was linked to the liposomal membrane via NSuccinyl PE and additionally loaded into the lumen of the liposomes. Liposomes without the αMSH-conjugate and free NDP-αMSH were used as a control. The liposomes were also loaded with ICG to track them. The liposomes were tested in DSS treated mice, which had received DSS via drinking water order to develop a model IBD. Inflammation severity was assessed by the Disease Activity Index (DAI) score and ex vivo histological CD68 staining of samples taken from different parts of the intestine. The liposome targeting was analyzed by analyzing the ICG and ALEXA 680 fluorescence in the intestine compared to the biodistribution. RESULTS: NPD-αMSH was successfully labeled with Alexa and retained its biological activity. Liposomes were identified in expected regions in the inflamed bowel regions and in the kidneys, where MC1-R is abundant. In vivo liposome targeting correlated with the macrophage concentration at the site of the inflammation supporting the active targeting of the liposomes through αMSH. The liposomal αMSH was well tolerated by animals. CONCLUSION: This study opens up the possibility to further develop an αMSH targeted theranostic delivery to different clinically relevant applications in IBD inflammation but also opens possibilities for use in other inflammations like lung inflammation in Covid 19.
