RESUMO

In this study, a multiple-resonance (MR) core structure is developed with a spin-flip-restricted emission mechanism based on a fused indolo[3,2,1-jk]carbazole (ICz) framework as emitters to improve the lifetime of blue organic light-emitting diodes. The molecular skeleton modulation approach applied to the conjugated π-system effectively stabilizes the triplet energy of the fused ICz emitters and narrows the full-width-at-half maximum (<20 nm). In addition, the emitters exhibit higher exciton stability than conventional boron-based MR emitters. The fused ICz-based blue fluorescent device exhibits a high external quantum efficiency of 7.2%, a blue index of 68.6 cd A-1 at a Commission internationale de l'éclairage y coordinate (CIEy) of 0.075, and a device lifetime 1.8 times longer than that of a boron-based emitter. In addition, a phosphor-sensitized fluorescent device based on the ICz emitter exhibited an improved external quantum efficiency of 20.6% with a CIEy coordinate of 0.076.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Prolonged improper posture can lead to forward head posture (FHP), causing headaches, impaired respiratory function, and fatigue. This is especially relevant in sedentary scenarios, where individuals often maintain static postures for extended periods-a significant part of daily life for many. The development of a system capable of detecting FHP is crucial, as it would not only alert users to correct their posture but also serve the broader goal of contributing to public health by preventing the progression of chronic injuries associated with this condition. However, despite significant advancements in estimating human poses from standard 2D images, most computational pose models do not include measurements of the craniovertebral angle, which involves the C7 vertebra, crucial for diagnosing FHP. OBJECTIVE: Accurate diagnosis of FHP typically requires dedicated devices, such as clinical postural assessments or specialized imaging equipment, but their use is impractical for continuous, real-time monitoring in everyday settings. Therefore, developing an accessible, efficient method for regular posture assessment that can be easily integrated into daily activities, providing real-time feedback, and promoting corrective action, is necessary. METHODS: The system sequentially estimates 2D and 3D human anatomical key points from a provided 2D image, using the Detectron2D and VideoPose3D algorithms, respectively. It then uses a graph convolutional network (GCN), explicitly crafted to analyze the spatial configuration and alignment of the upper body's anatomical key points in 3D space. This GCN aims to implicitly learn the intricate relationship between the estimated 3D key points and the correct posture, specifically to identify FHP. RESULTS: The test accuracy was 78.27% when inputs included all joints corresponding to the upper body key points. The GCN model demonstrated slightly superior balanced performance across classes with an F1-score (macro) of 77.54%, compared to the baseline feedforward neural network (FFNN) model's 75.88%. Specifically, the GCN model showed a more balanced precision and recall between the classes, suggesting its potential for better generalization in FHP detection across diverse postures. Meanwhile, the baseline FFNN model demonstrates a higher precision for FHP cases but at the cost of lower recall, indicating that while it is more accurate in confirming FHP when detected, it misses a significant number of actual FHP instances. This assertion is further substantiated by the examination of the latent feature space using t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding, where the GCN model presented an isotropic distribution, unlike the FFNN model, which showed an anisotropic distribution. CONCLUSIONS: Based on 2D image input using 3D human pose estimation joint inputs, it was found that it is possible to learn FHP-related features using the proposed GCN-based network to develop a posture correction system. We conclude the paper by addressing the limitations of our current system and proposing potential avenues for future work in this area.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: We analyzed the impact of social distancing (SD) on vitamin D status and associated morbidity in neonates during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. METHODS: Serum levels of 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25OHD) and clinical characteristics of newborn infants before (2019) and during SD (2021) were compared. RESULTS: A total of 526 neonates (263 in 2019 and 263 in 2021) were included. The rate of vitamin D deficiency in neonates (47.1% vs. 35.4 %, p = 0.008) decreased and the rate of maternal vitamin D intake increased (6.8% vs. 37.6%, p < 0.001), respectively, during SD compared to those in 2019. The rates of hypocalcemia (12.5% vs. 3.8%, p < 0.001) and respiratory illness (57.0% vs. 43.0%, p = 0.002) decreased during SD. Neonatal vitamin D deficiency during SD was associated with maternal vitamin D supplementation (odds ratio [OR] = 0.463, p = 0.003) but was not associated with SD (OR = 0.772, p = 0.189). The mediation effect of SD on neonatal morbidity by neonatal vitamin D status was statistically insignificant. CONCLUSIONS: SD might affect the increased maternal vitamin D intake and decreased neonatal vitamin D deficiency. However, neonatal morbidity was not affected by SD, even with neonatal vitamin D status changes.

RESUMO

Objective: Supine sleep position and rapid eye movement (REM) stage are widely known to aggravate the severity of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In general, position-dependent OSA is defined as an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) at least twice as high in the supine position as in other sleep positions, but it can be misdiagnosed if a certain sleep stage, REM or NREM, is dominant in a specific sleep position. In this study, we investigated the influences of the sleep stages on positional dependency. Methods: The polysomnographic data from 111 OSA patients aged ≥ 18 years (AHI > five events/hour) who slept in both supine and non-supine positions (each ≥ 5% of the total sleep time) were retrospectively analyzed. The overall ratio of non-supine AHI/supine AHI (NS/S AHI ratio) during the entire sleep was compared between specific sleep stages, i.e., REM or NREM sleep. Additionally, the weighted NS/S AHI ratio reflecting the proportion of each sleep time was created and compared with the original NS/S AHI ratio. Results: The mean value of the NS/S AHI ratio did not differ between the entire sleep and the specific sleep stages. However, those ratios in the individual patients showed poor agreement of the NS/S AHI ratios between the entire sleep and the specific sleep stages. The weighted NS/S AHI ratio also demonstrated poor agreement with the original NS/S AHI ratio, mainly due to the discrepancy in mild to moderate OSA patients. Conclusion: The weighted NS/S AHI ratio might help assess precise positional dependency.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1 (LRP1) regulates energy homeostasis, blood-brain barrier integrity, and metabolic signaling in the brain. Deficiency of LRP1 in inhibitory gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic neurons causes severe obesity in mice. However, the impact of LRP1 in inhibitory neurons on memory function and cognition in the context of obesity is poorly understood. METHODS: Mice lacking LRP1 in GABAergic neurons (Vgat-Cre; LRP1loxP/loxP) underwent behavioral tests for locomotor activity and motor coordination, short/long-term and spatial memory, and fear learning/memory. This study evaluated the relationships between behavior and metabolic risk factors and followed the mice at 16 and 32 weeks of age. RESULTS: Deletion of LRP1 in GABAergic neurons caused a significant impairment in memory function in 32-week-old mice. In the spatial Y-maze test, Vgat-Cre; LRP1loxP/loxP mice exhibited decreased travel distance and duration in the novel arm compared with controls (LRP1loxP/loxP mice). In addition, GABAergic neuron-specific LRP1-deficient mice showed a diminished capacity for performing learning and memory tasks during the water T-maze test. Moreover, reduced freezing time was observed in these mice during the contextual and cued fear conditioning tests. These effects were accompanied by increased neuronal necrosis and satellitosis in the hippocampus. Importantly, the distance and duration in the novel arm, as well as the performance of the reversal water T-maze test, negatively correlated with metabolic risk parameters, including body weight, serum leptin, insulin, and apolipoprotein J. However, in 16-week-old Vgat-Cre; LRP1loxP/loxP mice, there were no differences in the behavioral tests or correlations between metabolic parameters and cognition. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrate that LRP1 from GABAergic neurons is important in regulating normal learning and memory. Metabolically, obesity caused by GABAergic LRP1 deletion negatively regulates memory and cognitive function in an age-dependent manner. Thus, LRP1 in GABAergic neurons may play a crucial role in maintaining normal excitatory/inhibitory balance, impacting memory function, and reinforcing the potential importance of LRP1 in neural system integrity.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Retinal vascular occlusions, including retinal vein occlusion and retinal artery occlusion, are common causes of visual impairment. In order to evaluate the national medical burden and help improve ophthalmic health care policy planning, we investigated the incidence of retinal vascular occlusive diseases from 2011 to 2020 in Korea. METHODS: This study is a nationwide population-based retrospective study using data from the Korea national health claim database of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment (HIRA) service. We identified retinal vascular occlusive diseases registered from January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2020, according to the retinal vascular occlusion code (H34) and its sub-codes from international classification of disease, tenth revision diagnosis code. We used data from the entire Korean population based on the 2015 census of the population in Korea to calculate standardized incidence rates. RESULTS: We identified 348,775 individuals (male, 161,673 [46.4%]; female, 187,102 [53.6%]) with incident retinal vascular occlusion (H34), 10,451 individuals (males, 6,329 [60.6%]; females, 4,122 [39.4%]) with incident central retinal artery occlusion (H34.1), and 252,810 individuals (males, 114,717 [45.4%]; females, 138,093 [54.6%]) with incident retinal vein occlusion (H34.8) during the 10-year study period. The weighted mean incidence rate of retinal vascular occlusion was 70.41 (95% CI, 70.18-70.65) cases/100,000 person-years. The weighted mean incidence rate of central retinal artery occlusion was 2.10 (95% CI, 2.06-2.14) cases/100,000 person-years. The weighted mean incidence rate of retinal vein occlusion was 50.99 (95% CI, 50.79-51.19) cases/100,000 person-years. CONCLUSION: The total retinal vascular occlusion and retinal vein occlusion showed a decreasing trend until 2020. However, the central retinal artery occlusion decreased until 2014 and remained stable without a significant further decline until 2020. The incidence of total retinal vascular occlusion and retinal vein occlusion was higher in females than in males, while the incidence of central retinal artery occlusion was higher in males. All retinal vascular occlusive diseases showed an increasing incidence with older age; the peak age incidence was 75-79 years for total retinal vascular occlusion and retinal vein occlusion, and 80-85 years for central retinal artery occlusion.

RESUMO

Peptidoglycan recognition protein 1 (PGLYRP1) is a pattern-recognition protein that mediates antibacterial actions and innate immune responses. Its expression and role in neuroinflammatory conditions remain unclear. We observed the upregulation of PGLYRP1 in inflamed human and mouse spinal cord and brain, with microglia being the primary cellular source. Experiments using a recombinant PGLYRP1 protein show that PGLYRP1 potentiates reactive gliosis, neuroinflammation, and consequent behavioral changes in multiple animal models of neuroinflammation. Furthermore, shRNA-mediated knockdown of Pglyrp1 gene expression attenuates this inflammatory response. In addition, we identify triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cell-1 (TREM1) as an interaction partner of PGLYRP1 and demonstrate that PGLYRP1 promotes neuroinflammation through the TREM1-Syk-Erk1/2-Stat3 axis in cultured glial cells. Taken together, our results reveal a role for microglial PGLYRP1 as a neuroinflammation mediator. Finally, we propose that PGLYRP1 is a potential biomarker and therapeutic target in various neuroinflammatory diseases.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Unlike periprosthetic femoral fractures, periprosthetic acetabular fractures during total hip arthroplasty (THA) have not been evaluated in detail. We prospectively evaluated the incidence, patterns, risk factors, and clinical outcomes of intraoperative periprosthetic acetabular fractures using pre- and postoperative computer tomography (CT). METHODS: In this prospective single-centre study, we evaluated 234 consecutive patients (250 hips) who underwent THA and three-dimensional CT before and after the surgery. We assessed the incidence, pattern of fractures, outcomes for each fracture pattern, reoperation and revision rates, Harris hip score, and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain. Multivariate regression models were used to identify risk factors for periprosthetic acetabular fractures. RESULTS: In total, 43 periprosthetic acetabular fractures (17.2%) were identified via CT. Fractures occurred most frequently at the superolateral wall. Early cup migration occurred in three hips. None of the patients underwent revision surgery for acetabular loosening. Regression modeling showed that rheumatoid arthritis was a significant predictor of periprosthetic acetabular fractures. CONCLUSIONS: Periprosthetic acetabular fractures are not infrequent during cementless THA and are more common in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although sarcopenia has been recognized as a predictor of mortality in elderly patients with hip fracture, the association of thigh fat and muscle with cardiovascular (CV) outcome remains unclear. We examined the impact of computed tomography (CT)-derived shape features of thigh fat and muscle on major adverse CV events (MACE) in elderly patients with hip fracture. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of consecutive patients aged ≥65 years who presented with hip fracture confirmed on pelvic bone CT scan and underwent hip fracture surgery at our institution from April 2019 to December 2021. The cross-sectional area (CSA) and compactness (CM) of both the muscle and fat at the upper-thigh level were calculated from two-dimensional CT images using AVIEW Research (v1.1.38, Coreline Soft, Co. Ltd, Seoul, South Korea). The shape features of thigh fat and muscle were categorized into four groups based on the combination of CSA and CM: fat CSA (fat area [FA])/fat CM (FCM), muscle CSA (muscle area [MA])/muscle CM (MCM), FA/MCM and MA/FCM. In each of them, subjects were categorized into four subgroups: high CSA/high CM, high CSA/low CM, low CSA/high CM and low CSA/low CM. The primary outcome was MACE after 30 days of surgery, defined as a composite of all-cause death, acute myocardial infarction, stroke or hospitalization for heart failure. RESULTS: Of 356 patients enrolled (median age, 82 years; 76.7% females), 72 (20.2%) had MACE over a median follow-up of 13.1 months (ranges 5.9-21.0 months). Patients with MACE had a significantly lower median FA (193.7 vs. 226.2 cm2 , P < 0.0001) and FCM (0.443 vs. 0.513, P = 0.001) compared with those without MACE, but no significant differences were found in MA, MCM and FA-MA ratio between the two groups. In a multivariate Cox regression analysis, low FA (<240.1 cm2 ) (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 2.99, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.39-6.44, P = 0.005) and low FCM (<0.477) (adjusted HR 2.00, 95% CI 1.10-3.63, P = 0.023) were associated with an increased risk of MACE. Among the shape phenotypes of thigh fat and muscle, the thigh fat phenotype of low FA/low FCM (adjusted HR 3.13, 95% CI 1.81-5.42, P < 0.0001 [reference, high FA/high FCM]) was found to be an independent predictor of MACE. CONCLUSIONS: In elderly patients with fragility hip fracture, thigh CT-derived measures of FA and FCM may provide useful prognostic information for predicting adverse CV outcomes.

RESUMO

The hypomethylation of fused in sarcoma (FUS) in frontotemporal lobar degeneration promotes the formation of irreversible condensates of FUS. However, the mechanisms by which these hypomethylated FUS condensates cause neuronal dysfunction are unknown. Here we report that expression of FUS constructs mimicking hypomethylated FUS causes aberrant dendritic FUS condensates in CA1 neurons. These hypomethylated FUS condensates exhibit spontaneous, and activity induced movement within the dendrite. They impair excitatory synaptic transmission, postsynaptic density-95 expression, and dendritic spine plasticity. These neurophysiological defects are dependent upon both the dendritic localisation of the condensates, and their ability to undergo liquid-liquid phase separation. These results indicate that the irreversible liquid-liquid phase separation is a key component of hypomethylated FUS pathophysiology in sporadic FTLD, and this can cause synapse dysfunction in sporadic FTLD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The suicide rate in Korea was the highest among countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in 2019. In a previous study, higher intake of vegetables and fruits was associated with a lower risk of suicidal ideation, and carotene-rich fruits and vegetables lowered the risk of depression. This study aimed to examine the direct relationship between carotene intake and suicidal ideation, adjusting for the effect on depression. METHODS: This study used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) conducted in 2012, 2013, and 2015. Carotene intake was assessed through a food intake frequency survey with a 24-hour recall. Suicidal ideation and depression were assessed using the mental health section of the KNHANES. We applied logistic regression to assess the relationship between carotene intake and suicidal ideation, adjusting for potential confounders. RESULTS: A total of 5,480 females aged 19-64 years were included in this study. Carotene intake was significantly lower in the suicidal ideation group (3,034.5±1,756.4 µg/day) than in the nonsuicidal ideation group (3,225.4±1,795.1 µg/day) (p=0.015). We found a significant inverse association between carotene intake and the risk of suicidal ideation after adjusting for potential confounders (odds ratio=0.934, 95% confidence interval=0.873-0.999). CONCLUSION: These results suggest that carotene intake may be inversely associated with the risk of suicidal ideation. Our findings may inform the development of new nutritional interventions to prevent increases in the risk of suicide worldwide.

RESUMO

Multiple resonance (MR) thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters have been actively studied as pure blue dopants for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) because of excellent color purity and high efficiency. However, the reported MR emitter, 2,5,13,16-tetra-tert-butylindolo[3,2,1-jk]indolo[1',2',3':1,7]indolo[2,3-b]carbazole (tDIDCz) based on bis-fused indolocarbazole framework could not demonstrate efficient triplet-to-singlet spin crossover. In this work, we report two isomeric MR emitters designed to promote triplet exciton harvesting by reconstructing the electronic structure of tDIDCz. To manage excited states, strong electron donors were introduced at the 2,5-/1,6-position of tDIDCz. As a result, 2,5-positions managed tDIDCz shows long-range charge transfer characteristics while preserving the MR nature. Quantum chemical calculation demonstrates direct spin-orbit coupling by long-range charge transfer and spin-vibronic coupling assisted reverse intersystem crossing by short-range charge transfer simultaneously contribute to triplet-to-singlet spin crossover. Consequently, high performance blue OLED recorded a high external quantum efficiency of 30.8% at a color coordinate of (0.13, 0.13).

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Sarcopenia is a disease diagnosed in the elderly. In patients with sarcopenia, the muscle mass decreases every year. The occurrence of sarcopenia is greatly affected by extrinsic factors such as eating habits, exercise, and lifestyle. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between muscle mass traits and genes affected by epigenetic factors with three different adjustment methods using Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KOGES) data. RESULTS: We conducted a demographic study and DNA methylation profiling by three studies according to the muscle mass index (MMI) adjustment methods: appendicular skeletal muscle mass divided by body weight (MMI1); appendicular skeletal muscle mass divided by square of height (MMI2); appendicular skeletal muscle mass divided by BMI (MMI3). We analyzed differentially methylated regions (DMRs) for each group. We then restricted our subjects to be top 30% (T30) and bottom 30% (B30) based on each MMI adjustment method. Additionally, we performed enrichment analysis using PathfindR to evaluate the relationship between identified DMRs and sarcopenia. A total of 895 subjects were included in the demographic study. The values of BMI, waist, and hip showed a significant difference in all three groups. Among 446 participants, 44 subjects whose DNA methylation profiles were investigated were included for DNA methylation analysis. The results of enrichment analysis showed differences between groups. In the women group through MMI1 method, only the glutamatergic synapse pathway showed a significant result. In the men group through MMI2 method, the adherens junction pathway was the most significant. Women group through MMI2 method showed similar results, having an enriched Rap1 signaling pathway. In men group through MMI3 method, the Fc epsilon RI signaling pathway was the most enriched. Particularly, the notch signaling pathway was significantly enriched in women group through MMI3 method. CONCLUSION: This study presents results about which factor should be concerned first in muscle mass index (MMI) adjustment. The present study suggested that GAB2 and JPH3 in MMI1 method, HLA-DQB1 and TBCD in MMI2 method, GAB2, NDUFB4 and ISPD in MMI3 method are potential genes that can have an impact on muscle mass. It could enable future epigenetic studies of genes based on annotation results. The present study is a nationwide study in Korea with the largest size up to date that compares adjustment indices for MMI in epigenetic research.

RESUMO

Background: The objective of this study is to investigate the differences in incidence rates of targeted diseases by classification of occupations among construction workers in Korea. Methods: In a subject-based cohort of the Korean Construction Worker's Cohort, we surveyed a total of 1,027 construction workers. As occupational exposure, the classification of occupations was developed using two axes: construction business and job type. To analyze disease incidence, we linked survey data with National Health Insurance Service data. Eleven target disease categories with high prevalence or estimated work-relatedness among construction workers were evaluated in our study. The average incidence rates were calculated as cases per 1,000 person-years (PY). Results: Injury, poisoning, and certain other consequences of external causes had the highest incidence rate of 344.08 per 1,000 PY, followed by disease of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue for 208.64 and diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue for 197.87 in our cohort. We especially found that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was more common in construction painters, civil engineering welders, and civil engineering frame mold carpenters, asthma in construction painters, landscape, and construction water proofers, interstitial lung diseases in construction water proofers. Conclusions: This is the first study to systematically classify complex construction occupations in order to analyze occupational diseases in Korean construction workers. There were differences in disease incidences among construction workers based on the classification of occupations. It is necessary to develop customized occupational safety and health policies for high-risk occupations for each disease in the construction industry.

RESUMO

A novel bipolar host architecture was investigated to improve the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of green phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs). The host was developed by incorporating carbazole as a hole-transport unit and fused rigid benzo[4',5']imidazo[2',1':2,3]imidazo[4, 5, 1-jk]carbazole (BzICz) as a new electron transport unit. The primary goal of the BzICz-based host design was to achieve a high triplet energy and bipolar charge transport characteristics. The green PhOLEDs fabricated using the new BzICz and carbazole-based host demonstrated a high EQE of 26.6% due to their high triplet energy and good bipolar charge transporting characteristics.

RESUMO

Introduction: Many adolescents with suicidal ideation receive support through the Internet. However, they also find ways to attempt suicide or strengthen their suicidal ideation through this medium. This study analyzed the association between the search volume of suicide-related terms and the number of suicides among Korean adolescents. We also analyzed the correlations between the search volumes of suicide-related terms. Methods: We selected seven words (suicide, self-injury, depression, academic score, school violence, outcasts, and family trouble) related to adolescent suicide. A dataset was constructed by combining data from the most commonly used search engine in Korea (Naver Datalab) and the daily number of adolescent suicides in school settings (n = 347) from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018, collected from the Ministry of Education. Poisson regression and Pearson correlation analyses were performed. Results: Significant associations were found between suicide attempts and search term volumes, which differed according to sex and time interval. Among the search terms, "self-injury" was most strongly associated with suicide, and this association was significant at all time intervals (daily, weekly, and monthly) in female adolescents and in the total population. Further, the association was strongest in the daily suicide data. More search term volumes were related to suicide in the daily and weekly data than in the monthly data. There were positive correlations between "suicide," "self-injury," and "depression" search volumes. Conclusion: Further studies with larger sample sizes, more search terms, and analysis of time intervals between suicide-related term search and suicide death are required. These studies can contribute to the establishment of an online suicide prevention system to detect suicide risk in adolescents and provide interventions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Because disability in Osteoarthritis (OA) may change physical activity (PA), which might affect the disease progression, it is important to measure a patient's daily PA to study the relationship between a patient's PA and disease progression. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the present study was to investigate the relationship between PA and patients with OA and people without OA using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). METHODS: Demographic study was conducted to obtain data of comorbidities of participants. PA was compared between the group with OA (OA group) and the group without OA (non-OA group). In addition, PAs of OA patients with comorbidities and those without comorbidities were compared. The cut-off of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) was obtained through a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. RESULTS: In the demographic study, there were significantly more educated participants in the OA group (p < .001). Actigraph data showed a significant decrease in MVPA (p < .001) but a significant increase in light activity (p = .002) in the OA group. In addition, the OA group showed significantly lower light PA but significantly higher MVPA in ≥10 min bout length. OA patients with comorbidities showed higher MVPA than OA patients without comorbidities (p = .044). The cut-off point of MVPA was 7.071 min/day when ROC curve was conducted. CONCLUSIONS: The present study suggests that patients with OA and low activity need a certain level of physical activity and a cut-off point for MVPA is presented which accounts for comorbidities in OA patients.

RESUMO

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are energy-efficient; however, the coordinating ligand can affect their stability. Sky-blue phosphorescent Pt(II) compounds with a C^N chelate, fluorinated-dbi (dbi = [1-(2,4-diisopropyldibenzo [b,d]furan-3-yl)-2-phenyl-1H-imidazole]), and acetylactonate (acac) (1)/picolinate (pic) (2) ancillary ligands were synthesized. The molecular structures were characterized using various spectroscopic methods. The Pt(II) Compound Two exhibited a distorted square planar geometry, with several intra- and inter-molecular interactions involving Cπ⋯H/Cπ⋯Cπ stacking. Complex One emitted bright sky-blue light (λmax = 485 nm) with a moderate photoluminescent quantum efficiency (PLQY) of 0.37 and short decay time (6.1 µs) compared to those of 2. Theoretical calculations suggested that the electronic transition of 1 arose from ligand(C^N)-centered π-π* transitions combined with metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT), whereas that of 2 arose from MLCT and ligand(C^N)-to-ligand(pic) charge-transfer (LLCT), with minimal contribution from C^N chelate to the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO). Multi-layered phosphorescent OLEDs using One as a dopant and a mixed host, mCBP/CNmCBPCN, were successfully fabricated. At a 10% doping concentration of 1, a current efficiency of 13.6 cdA-1 and external quantum efficiency of 8.4% at 100 cdm-2 were achieved. These results show that the ancillary ligand in phosphorescent Pt(II) complexes must be considered.

RESUMO

We demonstrate an alternating current (AC) driven light emitting capacitor in which the color of the emission spectra can be changed via an applied AC frequency. The device has a simple metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitor structure with an organic emissive layer, enabling facile fabrication processing. The organic emissive layer comprises a thin, submonolayer low energy dye layer underneath a thick host matrix (∼30 nm) with higher energy emitting dyes. The emission of the lower energy dyes dominates at low frequency, while the higher energy emission of the host matrix dominates at high frequency. This simple color tunable device could be used for full-color displays and lighting in the future.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Recently, open pose estimation using artificial intelligence (AI) has enabled the analysis of time series of human movements through digital video inputs. Analyzing a person's actual movement as a digitized image would give objectivity in evaluating a person's physical function. In the present study, we investigated the relationship of AI camera-based open pose estimation with Harris Hip Score (HHS) developed for patient-reported outcome (PRO) of hip joint function. METHOD: HHS evaluation and pose estimation using AI camera were performed for a total of 56 patients after total hip arthroplasty in Gyeongsang National University Hospital. Joint angles and gait parameters were analyzed by extracting joint points from time-series data of the patient's movements. A total of 65 parameters were from raw data of the lower extremity. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to find main parameters. K-means cluster, X-squared test, Random forest, and mean decrease Gini (MDG) graph were also applied. RESULTS: The train model showed 75% prediction accuracy and the test model showed 81.8% reality prediction accuracy in Random forest. "Anklerang_max", "kneeankle_diff", and "anklerang_rl" showed the top 3 Gini importance score in the Mean Decrease Gini (MDG) graph. CONCLUSION: The present study shows that pose estimation data using AI camera is related to HHS by presenting associated gait parameters. In addition, our results suggest that ankle angle associated parameters could be key factors of gait analysis in patients who undergo total hip arthroplasty.
