INTRODUCTION: The escalating incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, particularly among adolescents, is a pressing concern. The study of ACL biomechanics in this demographic presents challenges due to the scarcity of cadaveric specimens. This research endeavors to validate the adolescent porcine stifle joint as a fitting model for ACL studies. METHODS: We conducted experiments on 30 fresh porcine stifle knee joints. (Breed: Yorkshire, Weight: avg 90 lbs, Age Range: 2-4 months). They were stored at - 22 °C and a subsequent 24-h thaw at room temperature before being prepared for the experiment. These joints were randomly assigned to three groups. The first group served as a control and underwent only the load-to-failure test. The remaining two groups were subjected to 100 cycles, with forces of 300N and 520N, respectively. The load values of 300N and 520N correspond to three and five times the body weight (BW) of our juvenile porcine, respectively. RESULT: The 520N force demonstrated a higher strain than the 300N, indicating a direct correlation between ACL strain and augmented loads. A significant difference in load-to-failure (p = 0.014) was observed between non-cyclically loaded ACLs and those subjected to 100 cycles at 520N. Three of the ten samples in the 520N group failed before completing 100 cycles. The ruptured ACLs from these tests closely resembled adolescent ACL injuries in detachment patterns. ACL stiffness was also measured post-cyclical loading by applying force and pulling the ACL at a rate of 1 mm per sec. Moreover, ACL stiffness measurements decreased from 152.46 N/mm in the control group to 129.42 N/mm after 100 cycles at 300N and a more significant drop to 86.90 N/mm after 100 cycles at 520N. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test were chosen for statistical analysis. CONCLUSIONS: The porcine stifle joint is an appropriate model for understanding ACL biomechanics in the skeletally immature demographic. The results emphasize the ligament's susceptibility to injury under high-impact loads pertinent to sports activities. The study advocates for further research into different loading scenarios and the protective role of muscle co-activation in ACL injury prevention.

Introduction: The varus and valgus knee deformities result from imbalance in tension between medial and lateral soft tissue compartments. These conditions need to be addressed during total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, there is no consensus on optimal soft-tissue release techniques for correcting varus and valgus deformities during TKA. We assessed the efficacy of a novel grid-based pie-crusting technique on soft-tissue release. Methods: Cadaver knees were dissected, leaving only the femur and tibia connected by an isolated MCL or the femur and fibula connected by an isolated LCL. Bone cuts were made as performed during primary TKA. Mechanical testing was performed using an MTS machine. A 3D-printed 12-hole grid was placed directly over the MCL and LCL. Using an 18-gauge needle, horizontal in-out perforations were made 3 mm apart. Deformation and stiffness of the ligaments were collected after every 2 perforations. Means were calculated, and regression analyses were performed. Results: A total of 7 MCL and 6 LCL knees were included in our analysis. The mean medial femorotibial (MFT) space increased from 6.018 ± 1.4 mm-7.078 ± 1.414 mm (R2 = 0.937) following 12 perforations. The mean MCL stiffness decreased from 32.15 N/mm-26.57 N/mm (R2 = 0.965). For the LCL group, the mean gap between the femur and fibula increased from 4.287 mm-4.550 mm following 8 perforations. The mean LCL stiffness decreased from 29.955 N/mm-25.851 N/mm. LCL stiffness displayed a strong inverse relationship with the number of holes performed (R2 = 0.988). Discussion: Our results suggest that using this novel grid for pie-crusting of the MCL and LCL allows for gradual lengthening of the ligaments without sacrificing their structural integrity. Our proposed technique may serve as a valuable piece in the soft-tissue release toolkit for orthopaedic surgeons performing TKA in varus and valgus deformed knees.

The quiet-time solar wind electrons feature non-thermal characteristics when viewed from the perspective of their velocity distribution functions. They typically have an appearance of being composed of a denser thermal "core" population plus a tenuous energetic "halo" population. At first, such a feature was empirically fitted with the kappa velocity space distribution function, but ever since the ground-breaking work by Tsallis, the space physics community has embraced the potential implication of the kappa distribution as reflecting the non-extensive nature of the space plasma. From the viewpoint of microscopic plasma theory, the formation of the non-thermal electron velocity distribution function can be interpreted in terms of the plasma being in a state of turbulent quasi-equilibrium. Such a finding brings forth the possible existence of a profound inter-relationship between the non-extensive statistical state and the turbulent quasi-equilibrium state. The present paper further develops the idea of solar wind electrons being in the turbulent equilibrium, but, unlike the previous model, which involves the electrostatic turbulence near the plasma oscillation frequency (i.e., Langmuir turbulence), the present paper considers the impact of transverse electromagnetic turbulence, particularly, the turbulence in the whistler-mode frequency range. It is found that the coupling of spontaneously emitted thermal fluctuations and the background turbulence leads to the formation of a non-thermal electron velocity distribution function of the type observed in the solar wind during quiet times. This demonstrates that the whistler-range turbulence represents an alternative mechanism for producing the kappa-like non-thermal distribution, especially close to the Sun and in the near-Earth space environment.

Transverse patella fractures, accounting for approximately 1% of Orthopedic injuries, pose intricate challenges due to their vital role in knee mechanics. This study aimed to compare the biomechanical performance of a construct, integrating cannulated screws and an anterior locking neutralization plate, with the conventional tension band wiring technique for treating these fractures. Experimental testing and Finite Element Analysis were employed to evaluate the constructs and gain profound insights into their mechanical behavior. Sixteen cadaveric knees were prepared, and transverse patella fractures were induced at the midpoints using a saw. The plate construct and tension band wire fixation were randomly assigned to the specimens. A cyclic test evaluated the implants' durability and stability, simulating knee movement during extension and flexion. Tensile testing assessed the implants' maximum failure force after cyclic testing, while Finite Element Analysis provided detailed insights into stress distribution and deformation patterns. Statistical analysis was exclusively performed for the experimental data. Results showed the plate enhanced stability with significantly lower deformation (0.09 ± 0.12 mm) compared to wire fixation (0.77 ± 0.54 mm) after 500 cycles (p = 0.004). In tensile testing, the construct also demonstrated higher failure resistance (1359 ± 21.53 N) than wire fixation (780.1 ± 22.62N) (p = 0.007). Finite Element Analysis highlighted distinct stress patterns, validating the construct's superiority. This research presents a promising treatment approach for transverse patella fractures with potential clinical impact and future research prospects. This study presents a promising advancement in addressing the intricate challenges of transverse patella fractures, with implications for refining clinical practice. The construct's improved stability and resistance to failure offer potential benefits in postoperative management and patient outcomes.

Aseptic loosening due to mechanical failure of bone cement is considered to be a leading cause of revision of joint replacement systems. Detailed quantified information on the number, size and distribution pattern of pores can help to obtain a deeper understanding of the bone cement's fatigue behavior. The objective of this study was to provide statistical descriptions for the pore distribution characteristics of laboratory bone cement specimens with different amounts of antibiotic contents. For four groups of bone cement (Palacos) specimens, containing 0.3, 0.6, 1.2 and 2.4 wt/wt% of telavancin antibiotic, seven samples per group were micro computed tomography scanned (38.97 µm voxel size). The images were first preprocessed in Mimics and then analyzed in Dragonfly, with the level of threshold being set such that single-pixel pores become visible. The normalized pore volume data of the specimens were then used to extract the logarithmic histograms of the pore densities for antibiotic groups, as well as their three-parameter Weibull probability density functions. Statistical comparison of the pore distribution data of the antibiotic groups using the Mann-Whitney non-parametric test revealed a significantly larger porosity (p < 0.05) in groups with larger added antibiotic contents (2.4 and 0.6 wt/wt% vs 0.3 wt/wt%). Further analysis revealed that this effect was associated with the significantly larger frequency of micropores of 0.1-0.5 mm diameter (p < 0.05) in groups with larger antibiotic content (2.4 wt/wt% vs and 0.6 and 0.3 wt/wt%), implying that the elution of the added antibiotic produces micropores in this diameter range mainly. Based on this observation and the fatigue test results in the literature, it was suggested that micropore clusters have a detrimental effect on the mechanical properties of bone cement and play a major role in initiating fatigue cracks in highly antibiotic added specimens.

The prosthetic socket, which transfers load from the residual limb to the prosthesis, is an integral part of the prosthesis. 3D printing has emerged as a potentially viable alternative to traditional fabrication for producing sockets that effectively transfer loads. We conducted a systematic review to better understand the current state of this newer fabrication method, with a focus on the structural integrity of 3D printed sockets and factors that can affect the strength of 3D printed sockets when tested using ISO 10328 standards. Literature searches were carried out in five databases (PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, Web of Science and Google Scholar). Two reviewers independently performed the literature selection, quality assessment, and data extraction. A total of 1023 unique studies were screened in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of 1023 studies, 12 studies met all inclusion criteria, with failure data for 15 3D-printed sockets and 26 standard laminated sockets. Within 3D printed sockets, the addition of composite materials such as carbon fiber particles and distal reinforcement using a compositing infill technique appears to improve socket strength. In light of the considerable amount of heterogeneity between studies in terms of materials and alignment used, the absolute values for failure could not be established for 3DS nor directly compared between 3DS and LCS. However, there is some evidence that the probability of a failure at a given load may be comparable between 3DS and LCS up to the P8 level. For all sockets, whether a laminated composite socket or a 3D printed socket, failure mainly occurred at the distal end of the socket or the pyramid attachment, which is consistent with the ISO testing protocol. Improving the strength of the 3D printed sockets through design modifications at the distal end and implementing emerging printing technologies could help to promote 3D printed sockets as a viable option, particularly when cost or access to care is limited.

Aseptic loosening is the most common reason for the long-term revision of cemented arthroplasties with fracture of the cement being a postulated cause or contributing factor. In our previous studies we showed that adding an antibiotic to a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement led to detrimental effects on various mechanical properties of the cement such as bending strength, compressive strength and fracture toughness (KIC). This finding implied that the mechanical failure of antibiotic-loaded PMMA bone cement was influenced by its pore volume fraction. Up to now this aspect has not been studied. Hence the purposes of this study were to determine (1) the influence of antibiotic (telavancin) loading on the KIC of a widely used PMMA bone cement brand (Palacos®R) and (2) the influence of pore size and pore distribution on the fracture behavior of the KIC specimens. For (2) both experimental and numerical methods (extended finite element method [XFEM]) were used allowing a comparison between the two sets of results. We found that: (1) KIC decreased with increased porosity with the drop (relative to the value for the control cement) being significant when the telavancin loading was 4.8 wt/wt % (2 g of telavancin added to 40 g of control cement powder); (2) there was a critical pore size above which there was a significant decrease in KIC and is 1 mm; (3) crack propagation was strongly influenced by pore size and pore locations (pore-pore interactions); and, (4) there was good agreement between the experimental and XFEM results. The implications of these findings for the use of a telavancin-loaded PMMA bone cement in cemented total joint arthroplasties are commented upon.

We proposed a novel approach based on dual ammonium and nitrate nitrogen isotope ratios (δ15NNH4 and δ15NNO3, respectively) axes to identify nitrogen sources in intensive livestock farming watersheds, especially those with swine excreta treatment facilities. The δ15NNH4 and δ15NNO3 values in water samples were measured monthly in 2016-2017. Soil and mineral fertilizers, sewage, sewage effluent, manure, and swine effluents were the five sources considered to identify nitrogen sources. The results showed that nitrogen pollution from agricultural activities was well reflected by the seasonal δ15NNH4 and δ15NNO3 patterns in the river, and microbial nitrification was suggested as the dominant nitrogen transformation process in the river. This study revealed that δ15NNH4 and δ15NNO3 axes provided better results than the traditionally used nitrate oxygen (δ18ONO3) and δ15NNO3 axes for identifying nitrogen sources in agricultural watersheds with swine excreta treatment facilities. The mixing model results showed that stream water was severely contaminated with swine effluents (e.g., a mean minimum contribution of 31%), thus affecting the quality of the mainstream (p = 0.068 < 0.10). This study was the first successful application of dual δ15NNH4 and δ15NNO3 axes to better understand nitrogen sources in intensive livestock farming watersheds with swine excreta treatment facilities.

The decision to withhold or withdraw life-sustaining treatment (LST) lies sometimes in the hands of intensive care unit patients' families. Since 2018, family members of dying patients in South Korea have had the legal right to make decisions for the patients. This study aimed to examine knowledge and attitude toward LST among the family members of patients under intensive care since the foundation of the new legislation. Their perceptions of the roles of nurses were also explored. In this cross-sectional study, 89 participants completed survey questionnaires on demographic characteristics, relationship to patient, reason for admission, length of stay, awareness of the new legislation, knowledge and attitude toward LST, and perception of the role of nurses. The results indicated that knowledge was significantly associated with attitude and was, in fact, the only predictor of attitude toward LST (P = .021). Explaining the disease and prognosis in detail and relieving patients of their physical pain were the roles of nurses most valued by family members. The findings suggest that it is crucial for nurses to support family members and provide information about critical changes and medical options for collaborative decision making according to the patients' wishes during the dying process.

To prevent the transmission of pathogenic microorganisms such as the influenza virus, efficient pathogen-capturing materials are required. Here, we report a new pathogen-capturing and recovery material using levan polysaccharide. We fabricated hydrogels by blending levan and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and by using glutaraldehyde as a cross-linking agent. Fabricated levan-PVA hydrogels have a high water solubility and water adsorption ability. SEM observations showed that levan-PVA hydrogels have a 3D porous structure. We confirmed by RT-PCR analysis that the influenza virus capture efficiency of levan-PVA hydrogels is higher than that of commercial cotton swabs. Moreover, we confirmed that levan-PVA hydrogels on gauze as a filter material effectively captured bioaerosol samples. Therefore, levan-PVA hydrogels are expected to serve as simple and efficient pathogen capture and recovery materials.

Prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is one of the most devastating failures in total joint replacement (TJR). Infections are becoming difficult to treat due to the emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria. These bacteria produce biofilm on the implant surface, rendering many antibiotics ineffective by compromising drug diffusion and penetration into the infected area. With the introduction of new antibiotics there is a need to create benchmark data from the traditional antibiotic loaded bone cements. Vancomycin, one of the commonly used antibiotics, shows activity against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and S.epidermidis. In our study, vancomycin added to bone cement was evaluated for elution properties, antimicrobial properties, and mechanical properties of the bone cement. Vancomycin at five different loading masses (0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 g) was added to 40 g of Simplex™ P cement. Addition of vancomycin affected the mechanical properties and antimicrobial activity with significant differences from controls. Flexural and compression mechanical properties were compromised with added vancomycin. The flexural strength of samples with added vancomycin of 0.5 g and greater were not greater than ISO 5833 minimum requirements. 2.0 g of vancomycin added to bone cement was able to eliminate completely the four bacterial strains tested. 2.0 g of vancomycin also showed the highest mass elution from the cement over a 60-day period. Given the reduced flexural strength in samples with 0.5 g and greater of added vancomycin and the inability of vancomycin in amounts less than 2.0 g to eliminate bacteria, this study did not find an ideal amount of vancomycin added to Simplex™ P that meets both strength and antibacterial requirements.

In this article, we report data on the antibiotic elution and efficacy, and mechanical properties of Palacos bone cement with different amounts of added vancomycin (0.0, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 g), see "Vancomycin elution, activity and impact on mechanical properties when added to orthopedic bone cement" (Bishop et al., 2018) [1]. Mechanical testing was performed for four-point bending, compression, and fracture toughness. The release characteristics of vancomycin was recorded for up to 60 days to estimate the elution profile. The eluted vancomycin efficacy at eliminating the four most common causative orthopedic implant pathogens is also reported.

BACKGROUND: To aim of this study was to examine the association between perceived possibility of purchasing cigarettes and e-cigarette experience among adolescents who currently smoke cigarettes. METHODS: Data were derived from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey; a total of 29,169 current smokers participated. The dependent variable was e-cigarette experience in the previous month. Analyses included χ2 test and survey logistic regression. RESULTS: A perceived easy possibility of purchasing cigarettes increased the odds of e-cigarette experience (odds ratio, 1.19; 95% confidence interval, 1.07-1.33) compared to when it was perceived as impossible. An easy possibility of purchasing cigarettes increased the odds of e-cigarettes experience among males aged 12-15 or 17 years compared to when it was impossible to purchase cigarettes. CONCLUSION: A perceived easy possibility of purchasing cigarettes was more likely to increase e-cigarette experience among adolescents. Laws restricting adolescents' access to e-cigarettes must be strengthened.

Infection incidence for total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA and TKA, respectively) is between 0.2% and 5% and results in approximately 100,000 device failures per year in the United States. Treatment requires prolonged systemic antibiotic therapy with additional surgical revisions. As a prophylactic measure against infection, antibiotics can be incorporated into bone cement during THA and TKA to provide drug administration at the implant site. Antibiotics in bone cement are only effective if they can elute out of the cement at a concentration that is active against common organisms. There is evidence that added antibiotics may affect the cement's mechanical properties, especially at higher dosages. The purposes of this investigation were to (i) determine the mechanical properties of a commercially available bone cement with the addition of vancomycin, (ii) determine the release characteristics of vancomycin added to bone cement, and (iii) evaluate eluted vancomycin efficacy at eliminating some of the most common causative orthopedic implant pathogens. Palacos bone cement was impregnated with incrementally larger clinically relevant weight percentages of vancomycin. Vancomycin is a treatment standard for invasive gram-positive infections, and Palacos cement is one of the most commonly used bone cements. After 21 days of curing in PBS, added masses of vancomycin greater than 0.5 g per 40.0 g cement packet decreased the cement's compressive yield strength to below ISO standard. The addition of vancomycin reduced the bone cement's mechanical properties in compression more than in bending. Vancomycin eluted from Palacos with a steady rise in eluted volume up to 8 days, after which non-therapeutic elution concentrations were observed up to a 60-day end point. The eluted concentration from samples with greater than 0.25 g vancomycin per Palacos packet was sufficient to eliminate a 103 colony forming unit per mL (CFU/mL) initial inoculum of S. aureus, including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). However, none of the tested dosages were able to fully clear a 103 CFU/mL initial inoculum of a known high biofilm producing strain of S. epidermidis. When used for infection prophylaxis at the time of THA and TKA, the findings of this study do not support the addition of more than 0.5 g vancomycin to a 40 g packet of Palacos cement due to a reduction in compression yield strength below ISO standards. Vancomycin doses up to 0.5 g were shown to elute from the bone cement matrix and are effective at treating bacterial infections of 103 CFU/mL in bacterial strains of S. aureus, but may have limited effect against high-biofilm producing strains including S. epidermidis.

This study aimed to develop methods for assessing and identifying nitrogen sources in the Cheongmi River, Korea, that has intensive livestock farming areas (ILFA) in its watershed. The assessment focused on the feasibility of the simultaneous use of stable isotopic compositions of ammonium (δ15NNH4) and nitrate (δ15NNO3) for identifying the main nitrogen pollution sources in the Cheongmi River watershed. Our results suggested that the organic nitrogen (Org-N) to total nitrogen (T-N) ratio could be used as an indicator for assessing the effect of livestock excreta on waterways in ILFA. We observed that the T-N concentration was much more strongly affected by livestock excreta than the T-P concentration in the mainstream of the Cheongmi River. The positive correlation was more significant between δ15NNH4 and NH4-N than that between δ15NNO3 and NO3-N for river water samples. Furthermore, the use of δ15NNH4 was more effective than that of δ15NNO3 in evaluating nitrogen variations between May and August in the Cheongmi River because the differences in δ15NNH4 between May and August were more remarkable compared to those in δ15NNO3. Finally, the simultaneous use of δ15NNH4 and δ15NNO3 showed that the dominant nitrogen source at sites M3, M4, M5, and M6, specifically in May, was livestock excreta in the Cheongmi River. The results of this study could be used for sustainable water quality management in the Cheongmi River watershed.

Slightly tapered Si1-xGex nanowires (NWs) (x = 0.29-0.84) were synthesized via a vapor-liquid-solid procedure using Au as a catalyst. We measured the optically excited carrier dynamics of Si1-xGex NWs as a function of Ge content using optical pump-THz probe spectroscopy. The measured -ΔT/T0 signals of Si1-xGex NWs were converted into conductivity in the THz region. We developed a fitting formula to apply to indirect semiconductors such as Si1-xGex, which explains the temporal population of photo-excited carriers in the band structure and the relationship between the trapping time and the defect states on an ultrafast time scale. From the fitting results, we extracted intra- and inter-valley transition times and trapping times of electrons and holes of Si1-xGex NWs as a function of Ge content. On the basis of theoretical reports, we suggest a physical model to interpret the trapping times related to the species of interface defect states located at the oxide/NW: substoichiometric oxide states of Si(Ge)0+,1+,2+, but not Si(Ge)3+, could function as defect states capturing photo-excited electrons or holes and could determine the different trapping times of electrons and holes depending on negatively or neutrally charged states.

A growing body of research suggests that individuals with dyslexia struggle to use graphs efficiently. Given the persistence of orthographic processing deficits in dyslexia, this study tested whether graph interpretation deficits in dyslexia are directly related to difficulties processing the orthographic components of graphs (i.e. axes and legend labels). Participants were 80 college students with and without dyslexia. Response times and eye movements were recorded as students answered comprehension questions about simple data displayed in bar graphs. Axes and legends were labelled either with words (mixed-modality graphs) or icons (orthography-free graphs). Students also answered informationally equivalent questions presented in sentences (orthography-only condition). Response times were slower in the dyslexic group only for processing sentences. However, eye tracking data revealed group differences for processing mixed-modality graphs, whereas no group differences were found for the orthography-free graphs. When processing bar graphs, students with dyslexia differ from their able reading peers only when graphs contain orthographic features. Implications for processing informational text are discussed. To synthesize a thermally robust Ni1-xPtxSi film suitable for ultrashallow junctions in advanced metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors, we used a continuous laser beam to carry out millisecond annealing (MSA) on a preformed Ni-rich silicide film at a local surface temperature above 1000 °C while heating the substrate to initiate a phase transition. The melting and quenching process by this unique high-temperature MSA process formed a Ni1-xPtxSi film with homogeneous Pt distribution across the entire film thickness. After additional substantial thermal treatment up to 800 °C, the noble Ni1-xPtxSi film maintained a low-resistive phase without agglomeration and even exhibited interface flattening with the underlying Si substrate.

The structural stability and electrical performance of SiO2 grown on SiC via direct plasma-assisted oxidation were investigated. To investigate the changes in the electronic structure and electrical characteristics caused by the interfacial reaction between the SiO2 film (thickness ~5 nm) and SiC, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and electrical measurements were performed. The SiO2 films grown via direct plasma-assisted oxidation at room temperature for 300s exhibited significantly decreased concentrations of silicon oxycarbides (SiOxCy) in the transition layer compared to that of conventionally grown (i.e., thermally grown) SiO2 films. Moreover, the plasma-assisted SiO2 films exhibited enhanced electrical characteristics, such as reduced frequency dispersion, hysteresis, and interface trap density (Dit ≈ 1011 cm-2 · eV-1). In particular, stress induced leakage current (SILC) characteristics showed that the generation of defect states can be dramatically suppressed in metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) structures with plasma-assisted oxide layer due to the formation of stable Si-O bonds and the reduced concentrations of SiOxCy species defect states in the transition layer. That is, energetically stable interfacial states of high quality SiO2 on SiC can be obtained by the controlling the formation of SiOxCy through the highly reactive direct plasma-assisted oxidation process.

Cu-Ag alloy interconnect is promising for ultra-large-scale integration (ULSI) microelectronic system of which device dimension keeps shrinking. In this study, seedless electrodeposition of Cu-Ag alloy directly on W diffusion barrier as interconnect technology is presented in respect of nano-nucleation control. Chemical equilibrium state of electrolyte was fundamentally investigated according to the pH of electrolyte because direct nano-nucleation of Cu-Ag alloy on W surface is challenging. Chelation behavior of Cu2+ and Ag+ ions with citrate (Cit) and ammonia ligands was dependent on the pH of electrolyte. The amount and kind of Cu- and Ag-based complexes determine the deposition rate, size, elemental composition, and surface morphology of Cu-Ag alloy nano-nuclei formed on W surface.
