RESUMO

Lubricated tribosystems such as main-shaft bearings in gas turbines have been successfully diagnosed by oil sampling for many years. In practice, the interpretation of wear debris analysis results can pose a challenge due to the intricate structure of power transmission systems and the varying degrees of sensitivity among test methods. In this work, oil samples acquired from the fleet of M601T turboprop engines were tested with optical emission spectrometry and analyzed with a correlative model. Customized alarm limits were determined for iron by binning aluminum and zinc concentration into four levels. Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with interaction analysis and post hoc tests was carried out to study the impact of aluminum and zinc concentration on iron concentration. A strong correlation between iron and aluminum, as well as a weaker but still statistically significant correlation between iron and zinc, was observed. When the model was applied to evaluate a selected engine, deviations of iron concentration from the established limits indicated accelerated wear long before the occurrence of critical damage. Thanks to ANOVA, the assessment of engine health was based on a statistically proven correlation between the values of the dependent variable and the classifying factors.

RESUMO

In this paper, we present an approach to fatigue estimation of a Main Landing Gear (MLG) attachment frame due to vertical landing forces based on Operational Loads Monitoring (OLM) system records. In particular, the impact of different phases of landing and on ground operations and fatigue wear of the MLG frame is analyzed. The main functionality of the developed OLM system is the individual assessment of fatigue of the main landing gear node structure for Su-22UM3K aircraft due to standard and Touch-And-Go (T&G) landings. Furthermore, the system allows for assessment of stress cumulation in the main landing gear node structure during touchdown and allows for detection of hard landings. Determination of selected stages of flight, classification of different types of load cycles of the structure recorded by strain gauge sensors during standard full stop landings and taxiing are also implemented in the developed system. Based on those capabilities, it is possible to monitor and compare equivalents of landing fatigue wear between airplanes and landing fatigue wear across all flights of a given airplane, which can be incorporated into fleet management paradigms for the purpose of optimal maintenance of aircraft. In this article, a detailed description of the system and algorithms used for landing gear node fatigue assessment is provided, and the results obtained during the 3-year period of system operation for the fleet of six aircraft are delivered and discussed.

RESUMO

This paper presents the results of investigations of the effect of graphene oxide and surface shot peening on the mechanical properties and fatigue life of bolts made of austenitic 304 steel. An innovative method for the uniform deposition of graphene oxide on screws is presented. The process involved activating the surface using plasma and then performing graphene oxide deposition using centrifugal force and vacuum drying. The screw specimens prepared in this way were subjected to a surface peening process. Comparative studies have shown that the combination of graphene oxide deposition and shot peening processes results in an increase in fatigue life of approximately 42 ÷ 275% (depending on the stress amplitude level) compared to the as-delivered samples. The results presented are promising and may provide a basis for further research on the application of graphene and its derivatives to increase fatigue life and improve the mechanical properties of machine components.
