RESUMO
Nasal natural killer/T cell lymphomas are locally destructive mid-facial necrotizing lesions. It is an uncommon disease but, usually shows a highly aggressive clinical course. Amongst the sino-nasal lymphomas, it is the most common type. The non-specific clinical features constitute a major stumbling block in the early diagnosis and management of these lymphomas. We report here a case of nasal NK/T cell lymphoma in a 23-year old male with review of literature.
RESUMO
Ginseng (Panax ginseng) and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) are widely used as geriatric tonics. Both individually have not shown any toxicity on long term administration. Study was planned to assess the safety of the combination by doing subacute toxicity study in rats with 90 days oral administration using three doses. Food consumption, body weight, haematological, biochemical and histopathological parameters were studied. There was significant increase in body weight, food consumption and liver weight, and improved hematopoiesis was observed. Brain, heart, lung, liver, spleen, kidneys, stomach, testis and ovaries were normal on gross examination and histopathologically. Subacute toxicity studies in rats did not reveal any toxicity.

Congenital plexiform neurofibroma is regarded as pathognomonic of neurofibromatosis (NF) especially when it is large and involves a major nerve trunk with changes of elephantiasis neuromatosa. Only very rarely malignant changes have been reported in cases who have NF for less than 5 years. 'Borderline' lesions are seen especially in patients with NF. In such cases criteria of mitotic activity should be utilized in establishing the diagnosis of malignancy. A case of 3 month child with congenital plexiform neurofibroma involving neck with elephantiasis neuromatosa with sarcomatous nodule has been described in the present article. The criteria for malignancy in nerve sheath tumors have also been discussed.
