[Myasthenia onset in elderly patients]. / Debiut miastenii u lits starcheskogo vozrasta.

Possibility of myasthenia debut at old age is shown. 5 cases of 73-87 year-olds with the diagnosis-generalized form of myasthenia are reported. Peculiarities of clinical manifestations in this age group are described. Polymorbidity in the individuals of old age is noted. It is recommended to include vasoactive preparations in the scheme of therapy.

[Features of potassium metabolism in progressive muscular dystrophy]. / Osobennosti obmena kaliia pri progressiruiushchikh myshechnykh distrofiiakh.

The metabolism of potassium was examined by the method of the whole-body radiography with the use of 42K isotope in 50 patients with various forms of progressing myodystrophies, and in 28 healthy subjects who were the patients' relatives. The metabolism of potassium was found to be changed substantially in all the patients and in a part of their relatives. This is important for early diagnosis of the disease, disclosure of carriers of hereditary neuromuscular diseases, and development of treatment methods.
