RESUMO

Humidity-sensor-based fully contactless respiratory monitoring can eliminate the discomfort and infection risks associated with any wearable device. However, challenges in the facile fabrication of highly sensitive humidity sensors continue to hinder their widespread application for fully contactless respiratory monitoring. In this study, we introduce a simple method to fabricate highly sensitive humidity sensors. Our method employs laser-induced graphene (LIG) on an ethanol-soaked polyimide (PI) film as the electrode of the humidity sensor. The ethanol-soaked PI between adjacent LIG electrodes functions as the sensing material, enabling ion-conductive humidity sensing. Compared to the LIG humidity sensors fabricated on untreated PI films, LIG humidity sensors fabricated on ethanol-soaked PI films exhibit superior performance with higher linearity (R2 = 0.9936), reduced hysteresis (ΔH = 5.1% RH), and increased sensitivity (0.65%/RH). Notably, the LIG humidity sensor fabricated on the ethanol-soaked PI film can detect a person's breathing from a distance of 30 cm, a capability not achieved by sensors fabricated on untreated PI films. Moreover, incorporating these LIG humidity sensors into an array further enhances both the detection distance and the sensitivity for respiratory monitoring. Experimental results demonstrate that the LIG humidity sensor array can be employed for fully contactless on-bed respiration monitoring and for continuous, fully contactless monitoring of the respiratory rate during treadmill exercise. These results highlight the great potential of our LIG humidity sensors for various practical applications in medicine and sports.

RESUMO

Conventional drug delivery techniques face challenges related to targeting and adverse reactions. Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in nanoparticle-based drug carriers. Nevertheless, concerns persist regarding their safety and insufficient metabolism. Employing cells and their derivatives, such as cell membranes and extracellular vesicles (EVs), as drug carriers effectively addresses the challenges associated with nanoparticle carriers. However, an essential hurdle remains in efficiently loading drugs into these carriers. With the advancement of microfluidic technology and its advantages in precise manipulation at the micro- and nanoscales, as well as minimal sample loss, it has found extensive application in the loading of drugs using cells and their derivatives, thereby fostering the development of drug-loading techniques. This paper outlines the characteristics and benefits of utilizing cells and their derivatives as drug carriers and provides an overview of current drug-loading techniques, particularly those rooted in microfluidic technology. The significant potential for microfluidic technology in targeted disease therapy through drug delivery systems employing cells and their derivatives, is foreseen.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Although studies have shown that work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are common and continue to be a major source of disability and work time loss, there are few reports about elbow WMSDs. The aim of this study was to explore the prevalence and associated factors of elbow WMSDs. METHODS: The valid questionnaires of 57501 workers from 15 different industries nationwide were collected and the c2 test and logistic regression analysis were applied to reveal the prevalence and risk factors of elbow WMSDs. RESULTS: The findings indicated that the overall prevalence of elbow WMSDs among workers was 7.3%. However, the prevalence of elbow WMSDs in toy manufacturing was 21.3%, which was significantly higher than that in other industries (P < .05). Logistic regression analysis showed that age 40 and above, married, very poor health, left-handedness, lifting weights (more than 20 kg each time), work requiring upper limb or hand force, work in an uncomfortable position, repetitive operations within 1 minute, using vibrating tools, work involving cold, cool draughts, or temperature changes, work being completed in the same workshop, work being done outdoors, frequent dealings with customers, 2 shifts, often working overtime, staff shortage, and often working for colleagues were risk factors for elbow WMSDs. A higer education level, monthly income, and enough rest time were protective factors for elbow WMSDs. CONCLUSIONS: Toy manufacturing is a high-risk industry for elbow WMSDs. Promotion of education about ergonomics should be strengthened, and workers' ergonomics awareness should be improved to reduce the impact of WMSDs.

RESUMO

The continuous exploration of new analogs of calixarenes and pillararenes unlocks infinite opportunities in supramolecular chemistry and materials. In this work, we introduce a new class of macrocycle, phenyl-extended resorcin[4]arenes (ExR4), a unique and innovative design that incorporates unsubstituted phenylene moieties into the resorcin[4]arene scaffold. Single-crystal analysis reveals a chair-like conformation for per-methylated ExR4 (Me-ExR4) and a twisted "Figure-of-eight" shaped conformation for per-hydroxylated ExR4 (OH-ExR4). Notably, OH-ExR4 demonstrates exceptional adsorption capability toward I3 - ions in an aqueous solution, with a rapid kinetic rate of 1.18×10-2 g ⋅ mg-1 ⋅ min-1. Furthermore, OH-ExR4 shows excellent recyclability and potential as a stationary phase in column setups. The discovery of ExR4 opens up new avenues for constructing new macrocycles and inspires further research in functional adsorption materials for water pollutant removal.

RESUMO

Among silicon-based anode family for Li-ion battery technology, SiOx, a nonstoichiometric silicon suboxide holds the potential for significant near-term commercial impact. In this context, this study mainly focuses on demonstrating an innovative SiOx@C anode design that adopts a pre-lithiation strategy based on in situ pyrolysis of Li-salt of silsesquioxane trisilanolate without the need for lithium metal or active lithium compounds and creates dual carbon encapsulation of SiOC nanodomains by simply one-step thermal treatment. This ingenious design ensures the pre-lithiation process and pre-lithiation material with high-environmental stability. Moreover, phenyl-rich organosiloxane clusters and polyacrylonitrile polymers are expected to serve as internal and external carbon source, respectively. The formation of an interpenetrating and continuous carbon matrix network would not only synergistically offer an improved electrochemical accessibility of active sites but also alleviate the volume expansion effect during cycling. As a result, this new type of anode delivered a high reversible capacity, remarkable cycle stability as well as excellent high-rate capability. In particular, the L2-SiOx@C material has a high initial coulomb efficienc of 80.4% and, after 500 cycles, a capacity retention as high as 97.5% at 0.5 A g-1 with a reversible specific capacity of 654.5 mA h g-1.

RESUMO

Procedural abscission of outer reproductive organs during flower and fruit development occurs in most plant lineages. Undesired abscission, such as fruitlet shedding causes considerable yield loss in many fruit-producing species. Ethylene is one of the key factors regulating organ abscission. However, the participants involved in the ethylene-mediated abscission pathway remains largely unidentified. In this study, we focused on the ethylene response transcription factors (ERFs) regulating fruitlet abscission in an industrial tree species, A. catechu. A total of 165 ERF genes have been found in the A. catechu genome and eight of these showed distinct expression between the "about-to-abscise" and "non-abscised" samples. An AcERF116 gene with high expression level in the fruit abscission zone (FAZ) was selected for further study. Overexpression of the AcERF116 gene accelerated cell separation in the abscission zone (AZ) and promoted pedicel abscission in transgenic tomato lines. The PG (ploygalacturonase) activity was enhanced in the FAZs of A. catechu fruitlets during ethylene-induced fruitlet abscission, while the PME (pectin methylesterase) activity was suppressed. In addition, cytosolic alkalization was observed in the AZs during abscission in both tomato and A. catechu. Our results suggest that AcERF116 plays a critical role in the crosstalk of ethylene and fruitlet abscission in A. catechu.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Telomerase is considered a biomarker for the early diagnosis and clinical treatment of cancer. The rapid and sensitive detection of telomerase activity is crucial to biological research, clinical diagnosis, and drug development. However, the main obstacles facing the current telomerase activity assay are the cumbersome and time-consuming procedure, the easy degradation of the telomerase RNA template and the need for additional proteases. Therefore, it is necessary to construct a new method for the detection of telomerase activity with easy steps, efficient reaction and strong anti-interference ability. RESULTS: Herein, an efficient, enzyme-free, economical, sensitive, fluorometric detection method for telomerase activity in one-step, named triggered-DNA (T-DNA) nanomachine, was created based on target-triggered DNAzyme-cleavage activity and catalytic molecular beacon (CMB). Telomerase served as a switch and extended few numbers of (TTAGGG)n repeat sequences to initiate the signal amplification in the T-DNA nanomachine, resulting in a strong fluorescent signal. The reaction was a one-step method with a shortened time of 1 h and a constant temperature of 37 °C, without the addition of any protease. It also sensitively distinguished telomerase activity in various cell lines. The T-DNA nanomachine offered a detection limit of 12 HeLa cells µL-1, 9 SK-Hep-1 cells µL-1 and 3 HuH-7 cells µL-1 with a linear correlation detection range of 0.39 × 102-6.25 × 102 HeLa cells µL-1 for telomerase activity. SIGNIFICANCE: In conclusion, our study demonstrated that the triggered-DNA nanomachine fulfills the requirements for rapid detection of telomerase activity in one-step under isothermal and enzyme-free conditions with excellent specificity, and its simple and stable structure makes it ideal for complex systems. These findings indicated the application prospect of DNA nanomachines in clinical diagnostics and provided new insights into the field of DNA nanomachine-based bioanalysis.

RESUMO

Polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard for clinical sleep monitoring, but its cost, discomfort, and limited suitability for continuous use present challenges. The flexible electrode sleep patch (FESP) emerges as an economically viable and patient-friendly solution, offering lightweight, simple operation, and self-applicable. Nevertheless, its utilization in young individuals remains uncertain. The objective of this study was to compare sleep data obtained by FESP and PSG in healthy young individuals and analyze agreement for sleep parameters and structure classification. Overnight monitoring with FESP and PSG recordings in 48 participants (mean age: 23 yr) was done. Correlation analysis, Bland-Altman plots, and Cohen's kappa coefficient assessed consistency. Sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values compared classification against PSG. FESP showed strong correlation and consistency with PSG for sleep monitoring. Bland-Altman plots indicated small errors and high consistency. Kappa values (0.70-0.84) suggested substantial agreement for sleep stage classification. Pearson correlation coefficient values for sleep stages (0.75-0.88) and sleep parameters (0.80-0.96) confirm that FESP has a strong application. Intraclass correlation coefficient yielded values between 0.65 and 0.97. In addition, FESP demonstrated an impressive accuracy range of 84.12-93.47% for sleep stage classification. The FESP also features a wearable self-test program with an error rate of no more than 8% for both deep sleep and wake. In young adults, FESP demonstrated reliable monitoring capabilities comparable to PSG. With its low cost and user-friendly design, FESP is a potential alternative for portable sleep assessment in clinical and research applications. Further studies involving larger populations are needed to validate its diagnostic potential.NEW & NOTEWORTHY By comparison with PSG, this study confirmed the reliability of an efficient, objective, low-cost, and noninvasive portable automatic sleep-monitoring device FESP, which provides effective information for long-term family sleep disorder diagnosis and sleep quality monitoring.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Performing activities of daily living comprise an important risk factor for falls among non-bedridden stroke inpatients in rehabilitation departments. OBJECTIVES: To explore the correlation between Barthel Index score and the occurrence of falls in non-bedridden stroke rehabilitation inpatients. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, information of patients grouped as non-bedridden patients by the Longshi Scale was collected. RESULTS: A total of 3097 patients were included in this study, with a fall incidence of 10.43%. After adjusting covariates, the total score of Barthel Index and falls in non-bedridden inpatients after stroke presented an inverted U-shaped curve relationship, in which inflection point was 60. The effect sizes on the left and right sides of infection point were 1.02 (95%CI 1.00-1.04) and 0.97 (95%CI 0.96-0.99), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Non-bedridden stroke patients with moderate activities of daily living (ADL) capacity may be at particularly increased risk of falls in rehabilitation departments.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Patients with stroke often remain bedridden despite rehabilitation. Serum N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) levels increase after stroke. Our study aimed to investigate the difference in NT-pro-BNP levels between bedridden and non-bedridden patients with stroke and to explore the factors influencing NT-pro-BNP levels in bedridden patients. DESIGN: A single-centre, cross-sectional study. SETTING: This study was conducted in a hospital, Shenzhen, China. PARTICIPANTS: Between January 2019 and December 2022, 465 participants were included in this study. OUTCOME MEASURES: The collected data included basic information, laboratory data and echocardiographic parameters. Binary logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic curves were used to identify factors associated with high NT-pro-BNP levels. RESULTS: Bedridden patients with stroke had higher levels of NT-pro-BNP, D-dimer, high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) and lower levels of creatinine, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, albumin and haemoglobin, as well as lower left ventricular ejection fraction, fractional shortening and the ratio between the peak velocities of early and late diastolic filling than non-bedridden patients. In bedridden patients, age ≥75 years, high levels of hs-CRP and creatinine, and low levels of albumin were associated with high NT-pro-BNP levels. In non-bedridden patients, age ≥75 years and high creatinine levels were associated with high NT-pro-BNP levels. In bedridden patients with stroke, the area under the curve (AUC) of hs-CRP was 0.700 (p<0.001, 95% CI 0.638 to 0.762) with a cut-off value of 5.12 mg/L. The AUC of albumin was 0.671 (p<0.001, 95% CI 0.606 to 0.736) with a cut-off value of 37.15 g/L. CONCLUSIONS: NT-pro-BNP levels were higher in bedridden patients with stroke than in non-bedridden patients. Decreased albumin and elevated hs-CRP levels were associated with high levels of NT-pro-BNP in bedridden patients. Further studies are needed to explore the risk stratification and potential treatments for elevated NT-pro-BNP in bedridden patients with stroke.

RESUMO

DNA nanotechnology, developing rapidly in recent years, has unprecedented superiorities in biological application-oriented research including high programmability, convenient functionalization, reconfigurable structure, and intrinsic biocompatibility. However, the susceptibility to nucleases in the physiological environment has been an obstacle to applying DNA nanostructures in biological science research. In this study, a new DNA self-assembly strategy, mediated by double-protonated small molecules instead of classical metal ions, is developed to enhance the nuclease resistance of DNA nanostructures while retaining their integrality and functionality, and the relative application has been launched in the detection of microRNAs (miRNAs). Faced with low-abundance miRNAs, we integrate hybrid chain reaction (HCR) with DNA self-assembly in the presence of double-protonated small molecules to construct a chemiluminescence detection platform with nuclease resistance, which utilizes the significant difference of molecular weight between DNA arrays and false-positive products to effectively separate of reaction products and remove the detection background. This strategy attaches importance to the nucleic acid stability during the assay process via improving nuclease resistance while rendering the detection results for miRNAs more authentic and reliable, opening our eyes to more possibilities for the multiple applications of customized DNA nanostructures in biology, including bioassay, bioimaging, drug delivery, and cell modulation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Robotic solutions for ankle joint physical therapy have extensively been researched. The optimal frequency and intensity of training for patients when using the ankle robot is not known which can affect rehabilitation outcome. OBJECTIVE: To explore the optimal ankle robot training protocol on foot drop in stroke subjects. METHODS: Subjects were randomly divided into four groups, with 9 in each group. The subjects received different intensities (low or high intensity) with frequencies (1 session/day or 2 sessions/day) of robot combination training. Each session lasted 20 minutes and all subjects were trained 5 days a week for 3 weeks. RESULTS: After 3 weeks of treatment, all groups showed an improvement in passive and active ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (PROM and AROM) and Fugl-Meyer Assessment for lower extremity (FMA-LE) compared to pre-treatment. When training at the same level of intensity, patients who received 2 sessions/day of training had better improvement in ankle dorsiflexion PROM than those who received 1 session/day. In terms of the improvement in dorsiflexion AROM and FMA-LE, patients who received 2 sessions/day with high intensity training improved better than other protocols. CONCLUSION: High frequency and high intensity robot training can be more effective in improving ankle dysfunction.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patients undergoing laparoscopic resection of liver metastases of colorectal cancer are prone to negative emotions and decrease of digestive function. Early nursing and psychological intervention are necessary. AIM: To observe the effect of enhanced recovery nursing combined with mental health education on postoperative recovery and mental health of patients undergoing laparoscopic resection of liver metastases of colorectal cancer. METHODS: One hundred and twenty patients who underwent laparoscopic resection of liver metastases of colorectal cancer at our hospital between March 2021 and March 2023, were selected as participants. The patients admitted from March 1, 2021 to February 28, 2022 were set as the control group, and they were given routine nursing combined with mental health education intervention. While the patients admitted from March 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 were set as the observation group, they were given accelerated rehabilitation surgical nursing combined with mental health education intervention. The differences in postoperative recovery-related indices, complications and pain degrees, and mental health-related scores were compared between groups. The T lymphocyte subset levels of the two groups were also compared. RESULTS: The postoperative exhaust, defecation, eating and drainage time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group. The pain scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 h after surgery. The cumulative complication rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The CD4+/CD8+ in the observation group was higher than that in the control group 3 d after surgery (P < 0.05). After intervention, the self-rating depression scale, self-rating anxiety scale, avoidance dimension, and yielding dimension in Medical coping style (MCMQ) scores of the two groups were lower than those prior to intervention, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The face dimension score in the MCMQ score was higher than that before intervention, and that of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the total scores of the life function index scale (FLIC) and psychological well-being scores of cancer patients in the two groups, and the physical and social well-being scores in the observation group, were higher than those before intervention. The nursing satisfaction of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The physical, psychological, and social well-being, and the total FLIC scores of the observation group were higher than those in the control group after surgery (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Enhanced recovery nursing combined with mental health education can promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function, improve the mental health and quality of life of patients after laparoscopic resection of colorectal cancer liver metastases, and reduce the incidence of complications.

RESUMO

Synthetic macrocycles have proved to be of great application value in functional charge-transfer systems in the solid state in recent years. Here we show a switchable on-off type vapochromic system toward 1-/2-bromoalkane isomers by constructing solid-state charge-transfer complexes between electron-rich perethylated pillar[5]arene and electron-deficient aromatic acceptors including 4-nitrobenzonitrile and 1,4-dinitrobenzene. These charge-transfer complexes with different colors show opposite color changes upon exposure to the vapors of 1-bromoalkanes (fading) and 2-bromoalkanes (deepening). Single-crystal structures incorporating X-ray powder diffraction and spectral analyses demonstrate that this on-off type vapochromic behavior is mainly attributed to the destruction (off) and reconstruction (on) of the charge-transfer interactions between perethylated pillar[5]arene and the acceptors, for which the competitive host-guest binding of 1-bromoalkanes and the solid-state structural transformation triggered by 2-bromoalkanes are respectively responsible. This work provides a simple colorimetric method for distinguishing positional isomers with similar physical and chemical properties.

RESUMO

We propose a universal fluorescence method for detection of nucleic acids based on rolling circle amplification (RCA) combined with a magnetic DNA machine and using dengue virus nucleic acids as an example target. RCA specifically amplifies the target and yields a large number of initiators employing heat-labile double-stranded DNase. The magnetic DNA machine produces a fluorescence signal and eliminates background noise. This method achieved a wide linear range, promising recovery and ultrahigh recognition specificity for one-base mismatches, and indicates the potential application of this sensing strategy in the clinical diagnosis of nucleic acids of pathogens.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the life satisfaction of bedridden patients with stroke and explore its relationship with demographic, social, and medical factors. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted in two steps. The Longshi scale was used to select the study population and assess patients' ability to perform activities of daily living. Subsequently, a multidimensional questionnaire was used to obtain the participants' information and evaluate their level of life satisfaction. The chi-squared test and binary logistic regression methods were employed to analyze the factors influencing the life satisfaction of bedridden patients with stroke. RESULTS: A total of 3,639 bedridden patients with stroke were included in this study, of them, only 27.2% reported satisfaction with their current lives. Factors associated with higher life satisfaction include female sex, older age, and primary school education or lower (P<0.05). Patients who had experienced a single stroke episode had chronic diseases, and rated their health as good were more satisfied with their lives than those who did not. The results of the binary logistic regression confirmed that age, education, religion, household income, cohabitation, social participation, number of chronic diseases, self-rated health status, and disability level significantly influenced the life satisfaction of bedridden patients with stroke (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Our study showed that the overall life satisfaction of bedridden patients with stroke was low, with several factors influencing their life satisfaction. Therefore, effective measures should be implemented to improve life satisfaction and quality of life.

RESUMO

In spite of the fact that lithium metal batteries (LMBs) facilitate the diversification of energy storage technologies, their electrochemical reversibility and stability have long been constrained by side reactions and lithium dendrite problems. While single-ion conducting polymer electrolytes (SICPEs) possess unique advantages of suppressing Li dendrite growth, they deal with difficulties in practical applications due to their slow ion transport in general application scenarios at âˆ¼25 °C. In this study, we develop novel bifunctional lithium salts with negative sulfonylimide (-SO2N(-)SO2-) anions mounted between two styrene reactive groups, which is capable of constructing 3D cross-linked networks with multiscale reticulated ion nanochannels, resulting in the uniform and rapid distribution of Li+ ions in the crosslinked electrolyte. To verify the feasibility of our strategy, we designed PVDF-HFP-based SICPEs and the obtained electrolyte exhibits high thermal stability, outstanding Li+ transference number (0.95), pleasing ionic conductivity (0.722 mS cm-1), and broad chemical window (greater than5.85 V) at ambient temperature. As a result of the electrolyte structural merits, the Li||LFP cells displayed excellent cycling stability (96.4% reversible capacities after 300 cycles at 0.2C) without additional auxiliary heating. This ingenious strategy is expected to providing a new perspective for advanced performance and high safety LMBs.

RESUMO

Signal-amplified imaging of microRNAs (miRNAs) is a promising strategy at the single-cell level because liquid biopsy fails to reflect real-time dynamic miRNA levels. However, the internalization pathways for available conventional vectors predominantly involve endo-lysosomes, showing nonideal cytoplasmic delivery efficiency. In this study, size-controlled 9-tile nanoarrays are designed and constructed by integrating catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) with DNA tile self-assembly technology to achieve caveolae-mediated endocytosis for the amplified imaging of miRNAs in a complex intracellular environment. Compared with classical CHA, the 9-tile nanoarrays possess high sensitivity and specificity for miRNAs, achieve excellent internalization efficiency by caveolar endocytosis, bypassing lysosomal traps, and exhibit more powerful signal-amplified imaging of intracellular miRNAs. Because of their excellent safety, physiological stability, and highly efficient cytoplasmic delivery, the 9-tile nanoarrays can realize real-time amplified monitoring of miRNAs in various tumor and identical cells of different periods, and imaging effects are consistent with the actual expression levels of miRNAs, ultimately demonstrating their feasibility and capacity. This strategy provides a high-potential delivery pathway for cell imaging and targeted delivery, simultaneously offering a meaningful reference for the application of DNA tile self-assembly technology in relevant fundamental research and medical diagnostics.

RESUMO

We investigated the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal symptoms (WMSs) among medical staff and evaluated the associations of different levels of adverse ergonomic factors with WMSs. A total of 6099 Chinese medical staff were asked to complete a self-reported questionnaire to assess the prevalence and risk factors of WMSs from June 2018 to December 2020. A prevalence rate of 57.5% was observed for WMSs among overall medical staffs, which mainly affected the neck (41.7%) and shoulder (33.5%). 'Keeping sitting for long hours very frequently' (OR = 1.26, 95% CI: 1.04, 1.53) was positively associated with WMSs in doctors, while 'keeping sitting for long hours occasionally' (OR = 0.91, 95% CI: 0.85, 0.97) was identified as a protective factor of WMSs in nurses. The associations of adverse ergonomic factors, organisational factors, and environmental factors with WMSs were different among medical staff in different positions.Practitioner summary: We conducted a multi-city study concerning the risk factors of WMSs by carrying out a face-to-face one-to-multiple questionnaire survey among medical staff in China. As a risk factor of WMSs in medical staff, adverse ergonomic factors should be paid more attention by the standard setting department and policy makers.Abbreviations: WMSDs: work-related musculoskeletal disorders; WMSs: work-related musculoskeletal symptoms; MSDs: musculoskeletal disorders; NMQ: Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaires; DMQ: Dutch Musculoskeletal Questionnaires; NIOSH: National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health; ORs: odds ratios.

RESUMO

Actively controlling the phase of a terahertz (THz) wave is of great significance for beaming, tunable focusing, and holography. We present a THz phase modulator based on an electrically triggered vanadium dioxide (V O 2) reconfigurable metasurface. The unit cell of the device consists of two split-ring resonators embedded with a V O 2 ribbon. By electrically triggering the insulator-to-metal transition of V O 2, the resonance mode and resonance intensity of the unit cell can be dynamically controlled. The simulation results show that the structure can achieve a phase shift of about 360° in the range of 1.03-1.13 THz, and the reflection amplitude can reach 80%. The device has potential applications in THz imaging, radar, broadband wireless communications, and array phase control.
