RESUMO

Social isolation was associated with emotional problems (depression and anxiety) among older adults, however, little is known in China. Thus, we conducted a cross-sectional study including 6,664 ≥ 65 years older adults in Ningbo, China. We collected data on social isolation, depression, and anxiety by specific scales. The relationship between social isolation and emotional problems was estimated by multivariate-adjusted logistic regression models. The population-attributable risk percentage (PAR%) was used to explore the contribution of social isolation to emotional problems. Overall, the percentage of participants who had experienced social isolation, depression, and anxiety was 12.67%, 4.83%, and 2.63%. Compared with the elderly without social isolation, the adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence interval) of depression and anxiety with social isolation were 1.77 (1.25-2.51) and 1.66 (1.05-2.63), respectively. The PAR analysis showed that 10.66% of depression and 9.03% of anxiety could be attributable to social isolation. In the gender subgroup, ORs and PAR% were only significantly observed in female participants. In Chinese older adults, social isolation has been linked to depression and anxiety, suggesting the importance of taking effective and feasible interventions to reduce social isolation and emotional problems, especially among females.

Background: To investigate the association of serum bilirubin within normal range, especially unconjugated bilirubin (UCB), with diabetic retinopathy (DR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: In this cross-sectional, real-world study, 7617 T2DM patients were stratified into quartiles based on serum UCB levels. DR was determined by digital fundus photography and further classified into non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and PDR. The associations of serum bilirubin levels and UCB quartiles with DR were investigated by logistic regression analysis. Results: After controlling for age, sex, and diabetes duration, the DR prevalence was significantly decreased across the serum UCB quartiles (40.4 %, 33.4 %, 29.7 %, 26.6 % for each quartile, respectively, p < 0.001 for trend). The subjects with DR had lower serum total bilirubin (TB) and UCB, rather than conjugated bilirubin (CB), compared with those without DR (p = 0.003 for TB, p < 0.001 for UCB, and p = 0.528 for CB, respectively), while all three types of serum bilirubin in the subjects with PDR were obviously lower than those with NPDR (p = 0.006 for TB, and p < 0.001 for UCB and CB, respectively). After adjustment for confounding factors, logistic regression demonstrated negative associations of serum TB and UCB levels, rather than CB, with the presence of DR (OR: 0.844, 95%CI: 0.774-0.920, p < 0.001 for TB; OR: 0.828, 95%CI: 0.763-0.899, p < 0.001 for UCB; and OR: 0.984, 95%CI: 0.900-1.074, p = 0.713 for CB, respectively). Additionally, a fully-adjusted analysis revealed a negative correlation between UCB quartiles and DR (p < 0.001). Conclusion: High-normal serum TB and UCB were closely associated with the decreased odds of DR, while all types of serum bilirubin were negatively correlated with the severity of DR in T2DM patients. Serum bilirubin may be used as a potential indicator to assess the risk and severity of DR in T2DM.

Red Melon (RM) and Red Cover (RC) discus (Symphysodon spp.) are ornamental fish varieties that were selectively bred from the wild parental lineages of the brown discus S. aquafaciatus over many generations, resulting in distinct cutaneous patterns from juveniles to adults. To better understand the underlying mechanisms, skin samples were collected from juveniles aged 60 days and adults aged 1 year from RM and RC for investigations. Microscopic observation detected xanthophores and erythrophores in all samples, except RC juveniles with no erythrophores. Melanophores were presented only in RC. The comparative analysis revealed that genes involved in pteridine synthesis (gch1 and zgc:153031), one-carbon metabolism (aldh1l2 and zgc153031), and lipid metabolism (apoda and klf1) were differentially expressed in RM juveniles, which may be associated with the development of erythrophores and xanthophores. The temporal inhibition of melanophore differentiation and development was observed in RM juveniles, coupled with elevated expression of notum2 and sost, two antagonist genes in Wnt-signaling, suggesting their roles in melanophore development. Distinct pigment pattern between RM and RC since the juvenile stage may be driven by the differential expression of multiple axial developmental genes, including GATA, ankyrin, and mitotic spindle orientation proteins. This is the first report to describe the differential growth of cutaneous pigments and the molecular processes involved in red discus. The results provided valuable insights into pigment pattern differences in an interesting ornamental fish model.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation plays a key role in cerebral waste clearance via the glymphatic system. Although CSF flow velocity is an essential component of CSF dynamics, it has not been sufficiently characterized, and particularly, in studies of the glymphatic system in rat. To investigate the relationship between the flow velocity of CSF in the brain aqueduct and the glymphatic waste clearance rate, using phase-contrast MRI we performed the first measurements of CSF velocity in rats. Phase-contrast MRI was performed using a 7 T system to map mean velocity of CSF flow in the aqueduct in rat brain. The effects of age (3 months old versus 18 months old), gender, strain (Wistar, RNU, Dark Agouti), anesthetic agents (isoflurane versus dexmedetomidine), and neurodegenerative disorder (Alzheimer' disease in Fischer TgF344-AD rats, males and females) on CSF velocity were investigated in eight independent groups of rats (12 rats per group). Our results demonstrated that quantitative velocities of CSF flow in the aqueduct averaged 5.16 ± 0.86 mm/s in healthy young adult male Wistar rats. CSF flow velocity in the aqueduct was not altered by rat gender, strain, and the employed anesthetic agents in all rats, also age in the female rats. However, aged (18 months) Wistar male rats exhibited significantly reduced the CSF flow velocity in the aqueduct (4.31 ± 1.08 mm/s). In addition, Alzheimer's disease further reduced the CSF flow velocity in the aqueduct of male and female rats.

Kopsileuconines A-D (1-4), four monoterpenoid bisindole alkaloids with unprecedented skeletons, along with their biosynthetically related precursors (5-8) were isolated from the roots of Kopsia hainanensis. Compound 1 possessed an undescribed C-6-C-5' dimerization pattern of aspidofractinine-type alkaloids. Compounds 2-4 were rhazinilam-kopsine (2) and rhazinilam-aspidofractinine type (3 and 4) bisindole alkaloids with undescribed skeletons, respectively. Their structures with absolute configurations were fully accomplished by extensive spectroscopic analysis, quantum-chemical calculations, and X-ray crystallography. A plausible biosynthetic pathway for 1-4 was proposed. Compound 2 exhibited a significant inhibitory effect against human lung cancer cell lines PC9 (EGFR mutant), with an IC50 value of 15.07 ± 1.19 µM.

PURPOSE: This current study attempted to investigate whether one-stitch method (OM) of temporary ileostomy influenced the stoma-related complications after laparoscopic low anterior resection (LLAR). METHODS: We searched for eligible studies in four databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and CNKI from inception to July 20, 2023. Both surgical outcomes and stoma-related complications were compared between the OM group and the traditional method (TM) group. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was adopted for quality assessment. RevMan 5.4 was conducted for data analyzing. RESULTS: Totally 590 patients from six studies were enrolled in this study (272 patients in the OM group and 318 patients in the TM group). No significant difference was found in baseline information (P > 0.05). Patients in the OM group had shorter operative time in both the primary LLAR surgery (MD = - 17.73, 95%CI = - 25.65 to - 9.80, P < 0.01) and the stoma reversal surgery (MD = - 18.70, 95%CI = - 22.48 to -14.92, P < 0.01) than patients in the TM group. There was no significant difference in intraoperative blood loss of the primary LLAR surgery (MD = - 2.92, 95%CI = - 7.15 to 1.32, P = 0.18). Moreover, patients in the OM group had fewer stoma-related complications than patients in the TM group (OR = 0.55, 95%CI = 0.38 to 0.79, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The OM group had shorter operation time in both the primary LLAR surgery and the stoma reversal surgery than the TM group. Moreover, the OM group had less stoma-related complications.

The African swine fever virus (ASFV) type II topoisomerase (Topo II), pP1192R, is the only known Topo II expressed by mammalian viruses and is essential for ASFV replication in the host cytoplasm. Herein, we report the structures of pP1192R in various enzymatic stages using both X-ray crystallography and single-particle cryo-electron microscopy. Our data structurally define the pP1192R-modulated DNA topology changes. By presenting the A2+-like metal ion at the pre-cleavage site, the pP1192R-DNA-m-AMSA complex structure provides support for the classical two-metal mechanism in Topo II-mediated DNA cleavage and a better explanation for nucleophile formation. The unique inhibitor selectivity of pP1192R and the difunctional mechanism of pP1192R inhibition by m-AMSA highlight the specificity of viral Topo II in the poison binding site. Altogether, this study provides the information applicable to the development of a pP1192R-targeting anti-ASFV strategy.

RESUMO

Viral infections usually induce the rearrangement of cellular cytoskeletal proteins and organelle membrane structures, thus creating independent compartments [termed replication organelles (ROs)] to facilitate viral genome replication. Within the ROs, viral replicases, including polymerases, helicases, and ligases, play functional roles during viral replication. These viral replicases are pivotal in the virus life cycle, and numerous studies have demonstrated that the viral replicases could be the potential targets for drugs development. Here, we summarize primarily the key replicases within viral ROs and emphasize the advancements of antiviral drugs targeting crucial viral replicases, providing novel insights into the future development of antiviral strategies.

INTRODUCTION: Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) has gained extensive application in the treatment of lymphoma and multiple myeloma (MM). Plenty of studies demonstrate that peripheral blood indicators could be considered potential predictive biomarkers for hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) collection efficiency, including white blood cell count (WBC), monocyte count (Mono), platelet count (PLT), hematocrit, and hemoglobin levels. Currently, clinically practical predictive models based on these peripheral detection indicators to quickly, conveniently, and accurately predict collection efficiency are lacking. METHODS: In total, 139 patients with MM and lymphoma undergoing mobilization and collection of ASCT were retrospectively studied. The study endpoint was successful collection of autologous HSCs. We analyzed the effects of clinical characteristics and peripheral blood markers on collection success, and screened variables to establish a prediction model. We determined the optimal cutoff value of peripheral blood markers for predicting successful stem cell collection and the clinical value of a multi-marker prediction approach. We also established a prediction model for collection efficacy. RESULTS: Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that the mobilization regimen, Mono, PLT, mononuclear cell count (MNC), and peripheral blood CD34+ cell count (PB CD34+ counts) were significant predictors of successful collection of peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC). Two predictive models were constructed based on the results of multivariate logistic analyses. Model 1 included the mobilization regimen, Mono, PLT, and MNC, whereas Model 2 included the mobilization regimen, Mono, PLT, MNC, and PB CD34+ counts. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that the PB CD34+ counts, Model 1, and Model 2 could predict successful HSCs collection, with cutoff values of 26.92 × 106/L, 0.548, and 0.355, respectively. Model 1 could predict successful HSCs collection with a sensitivity of 84.62%, specificity of 75.73%, and area under the curve (AUC) of 0.863. Model 2 could predict successful HSCs collection with a sensitivity of 83.52%, specificity of 94.17%, and AUC of 0.946; thus, it was superior to the PB CD34+ counts alone. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that the combination of the mobilization regimen, Mono, PLT, MNC, and PB CD34+ counts before collection has predictive value for the efficacy of autologous HSCs collection in patients with MM and lymphoma. Using models based on these predictive markers may help to avoid over-collection and improve patient outcomes.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the choroidal thickness and the Bruch's membrane opening size and their relationship to visual acuity in eyes with myopic macular degeneration (MMD). Methods: This was a population-based, cross-sectional study. Patients over the age of 30 years with high myopia (spherical equivalent ≤-5 diopters [D]) were recruited. The eyes were grouped according to the International Meta-Analysis for Pathologic Myopia (META-PM) classification based on fundus photographs and diffuse atrophy was subdivided into peripapillary diffuse choroidal atrophy (PDCA) or macular diffuse choroidal atrophy (MDCA). Swept-source optical coherence tomography imaging was performed and then the subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) and Bruch's membrane opening diameter (BMOD) were measured. Results: Of the 470 study participants recruited, 373 patients (691 eyes), with a mean age of 42.8 ± 7.2 years, were eligible for the study and included in the analysis. There was no significant difference in SFCT between MDCA and patchy atrophy (M3) groups (P = 1.000), and the BMOD enlarged significantly from no myopic macular lesions to M3 (the P values of multiple comparison tests were all <0.005). Simple linear regression analysis showed that BMOD correlated positively with age (P < 0.001) and axial length (P < 0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was significantly correlated with age (P = 0.041), axial length (P = 0.001), and BMOD (P = 0.017), but not with SFCT (P = 0.231). Conclusions: The significant variation of BMOD among MMD groups and the correlation between BMOD and BCVA in MMD eyes suggest that BMOD may be an imaging biomarker for monitoring MMD.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is the causative agent of African swine fever (ASF), a highly contagious disease that can kill up to 100% of domestic pigs and wild boars. It has been shown that the pigs inoculated with some ASF vaccine candidates display more severe clinical signs and die earlier than do pigs not immunized. We hypothesize that antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) of ASFV infection may be caused by the presence of some unidentified antibodies. In this study, we found that the ASFV-encoded structural protein A137R (pA137R) can be recognized by the anti-ASFV positive sera, indicating that the anti-pA137R antibodies are induced in the ASFV-infected pigs. Interestingly, our results demonstrated that the anti-pA137R antibodies produced in rabbits or pigs enhanced viral replication of different ASFV strains in primary porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs), the target cells of ASFV. Mechanistic investigations revealed that anti-pA137R antibodies were able to promote the attachment of ASFV to PAMs and two types of Fc gamma receptors (FcγRs), FcγRII and FcγRIII, mediated the ADE of ASFV infection. Taken together, anti-pA137R antibodies are able to drive ASFV ADE in PAMs. These findings shed new light on the roles of anti-ASFV antibodies and have implications for the pathophysiology of the disease and the development of ASF vaccines.

Adoptive chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy is transformative and approved for hematologic malignancies. It is also being developed for the treatment of solid tumors, autoimmune disorders, heart disease, and aging. Despite unprecedented clinical outcomes, CAR-T and other engineered cell therapies face a variety of manufacturing and safety challenges. Traditional methods, such as lentivirus transduction and electroporation, result in random integration or cause significant cellular damage, which can limit the safety and efficacy of engineered cell therapies. We present hydroporation as a gentle and effective alternative for intracellular delivery. Hydroporation resulted in 1.7- to 2-fold higher CAR-T yields compared to electroporation with superior cell viability and recovery. Hydroporated cells exhibited rapid proliferation, robust target cell lysis, and increased pro-inflammatory and regulatory cytokine secretion in addition to improved CAR-T yield by day 5 post-transfection. We demonstrate that scaled-up hydroporation can process 5 x 108 cells in less than 10 s, showcasing the platform as a viable solution for high-yield CAR-T manufacturing with the potential for improved therapeutic outcomes.

Low levels of the indispensable trace element selenium (Se) can cause oxidative stress and disrupt environmental homeostasis in humans and animals. Selenoprotein S (Selenos), of which Se is a key component, is a member of the selenoprotein family involved in various biological processes. This study aimed to investigate whether low-level SELENOS gene expression can induce oxidative stress and decrease the antioxidative capacity of chondrocytes. Compared with control cells, SELENOS-knockdown ATDC5 cells showed substantially higher dihydroethidium, reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde levels, and lower superoxide dismutase (SOD) expression. Knockout of the gene in C57BL/6 mice increased the 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine level considerably and decreased SOD expression in cartilages relative to the levels in wild-type mice. The results showed that the increased nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase-1 signaling mediated by low-level SELENOS expression was involved in oxidative damage. The proliferative zone of the cartilage growth plate of SELENOS-knockout mice was shortened, suggesting cartilage differentiation dysfunction. In conclusion, this study confirmed that low-level Selenos expression plays a role in oxidative stress in cartilages.

OBJECTIVE: This study explores the impact of leisure activity and the association between childhood starvation and the risk of diabetes in older Chinese adults. DESIGN: Prospective cohort study based on the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Study (CLHLS), a nationwide cohort study in China. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS: A total of 4637 older adults aged ≥65 years, all with documented diabetes history, experiences of childhood starvation, and participation in leisure activities were recruited. METHODS: Childhood starvation exposure was assessed via self-reported responses from a structured questionnaire. The leisure activities were measured by 9 distinctive components and categorized into 3 distinct categories: productive activity, recreational activity, and sedentary activity. Diabetes status was determined by self-reported, physician-diagnosed cases during the follow-up period. Nonparametric survival models were employed for analysis. RESULTS: Over an average follow-up period of 4.3 years, 215 of 4637 participants (4.6%) reported a confirmed diagnosis of diabetes. Nonparametric survival models showed that those reporting childhood starvation had a higher risk of late-life diabetes [hazard ratio (HR) 1.72, 95% CI 1.21-2.44]. Engaging in productive activity (HR 0.90, 95% CI 0.83-0.99) and recreational activity (HR 0.88, 95% CI 0.77-1.00) was linked with a reduced risk of late-life diabetes. Sedentary activity did not show a significant effect. Further analysis highlighted the interactions effects of leisure activities on diabetes risk across different demographic and historical exposure subgroups. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS: Engaging in productive and recreational leisure activities was inversely associated with the risk of diabetes in older adults who experienced childhood starvation. Promoting such activities could be beneficial in mitigating long-term diabetes risk related to early-life nutritional deficiencies.

Despite standard treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being surgical resection, cancer recurrence and complications, such as induction of malignant pleural effusion (MPE) and significant postoperative pain, usually result in treatment failure. In this study, an alginate-based hybrid hydrogel (SOG) is developed that can be injected into the resection surface of the lungs during surgery. Briefly, endoplasmic reticulum-modified liposomes (MSLs) pre-loaded with the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) small interfering RNA and lidocaine hydrochloride are encapsulated in SOG. Once applied, MSLs strongly downregulated STAT3 expression in the tumor microenvironment, resulting in the apoptosis of lung cancer cells and polarization of tumor-associated macrophages towards the M1-like phenotype. Meanwhile, the release of lidocaine hydrochloride (LID) was beneficial for pain relief and natural killer cell activation. Our data demonstrated MSL@LID@SOG not only efficiently inhibited tumor growth but also potently improved the quality of life, including reduced MPE volume and pain relief in orthotopic NSCLC mouse models, even with a single administration. MSL@LID@SOG shows potential for comprehensive clinical management upon tumor resection in NSCLC, and may alter the treatment paradigms for other cancers.

The establishment of near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy model mostly relies on chemometrics, and spectral analysis combined with artificial intelligence (AI) provides a new way of thinking for pharmaceutical quality inspection, new algorithms such as back propagation artificial neural networks (BP-ANN) and swarm intelligence optimization algorithms such as sparrow search algorithm (SSA) provide core technical support. In order to explore the application of AI in the pharmaceutical field, in this study, Angelica dahurica formula granules with a relatively complex system were selected as the research object. Quantitative analysis models were established by using partial least squares regression (PLSR) with a micro-NIR spectrometer, and BP-ANN modeling results were compared. For the best PLSR models of six characteristic components in the continuous counter-current extract of Angelica dahurica, R2v of imperatorin was lower than 0.90, and the RPD values of imperatorin, phellopterin, and isoimperatorin were even lower than 1. When the prediction model established by SSA-BP-ANN was used for quantitative analysis, R2v of six components were all higher than 0.92, and the RPD values all higher than 1.5, which proved that the BP-ANN method was better than PLSR. This study confirmed that in the continuous counter-current extraction progress of Angelica dahurica formula granules, the use of micro-NIR spectrometer combined with AI could realize the rapid prediction of the contents of six characteristic components. The comparison results provided a scientific reference for the process analysis and on-line monitoring in the production process of traditional Chinese medicine by micro-NIR spectrometer combined with AI.

BACKGROUND: Emergency presentations make up a large proportion of a general surgeon's workload. Patients who have emergency surgery carry a higher rate of mortality and complications. We aim to review the impact of surgical subspecialization on patients following upper gastrointestinal (UGI) emergency surgery. METHODS: A systematic search of Ovid Embase, Ovid MEDLINE, and Cochrane databases using a predefined search strategy was completed reviewing studies published from 1st of January 1990 to August 27, 2023. The study was prospectively registered with PROSPERO (CRD42022359326). Studies were reviewed for the following outcomes: 30-day mortality, in-hospital mortality, conversion to open, length of stay, return to theater, and readmission. RESULTS: Of 5181 studies, 24 articles were selected for full text review. Of these, seven were eligible and included in this study. There was a statistically significant improvement in 30-day mortality favoring UGI specialists (OR 0.71 [95% CI 0.55-0.92 and p = 0.009]) and in-hospital mortality (OR 0.29 [95% CI 0.14-0.60 and p = 0009]). There was a high degree of study heterogeneity in 30-day mortality; however, a low degree of heterogeneity within in-hospital mortality. There was no statistical significance when considering conversion to open and insufficient data to allow meta-analysis for return to theater or readmission rates. CONCLUSION: In emergency UGI surgery, there was improved 30-day and in-hospital mortality for UGI specialists. Therefore, surgeons should consider early involvement of a subspecialist team to improve patient outcomes.

Five new compounds, including two sesquiterpenoid glycosides (1 and 2), two monoterpenoid glycosides (3 and 4), and a quinovose ester (5), together with four known compounds (6-9) were isolated from branches and leaves of Pittosporum pulchrum Gagnep. Their structures were established by 1D and 2D NMR, HR-ESI-MS, IR and UV spectral analyses. This is the first time to investigate the chemical constituents of P. pulchrum. Subsequently, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of different solvent fractions of ethanol extract and isolated compounds were evaluated. Dichloromethane and ethyl acetate fractions dramatically inhibited the production of NO in a concentration-dependent manner in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions showed excellent DPPH radical scavenging activities with IC50 values of 24.31 µg/mL and 27.81 µg/mL, respectively. Compounds 7 and 8 might be potential natural antioxidants with IC50 values of 16.13 µM and 24.81 µM, respectively.

Cyclic nucleic acids are biologically stable against nucleic acid exonucleases due to the absence of 5' and 3' termini. Studies of cyclic nucleic acids mainly focus on cyclic single-stranded nucleic acids. Cyclic single-stranded nucleic acids are further divided into circular RNA (circRNA) and circular single-stranded DNA (cssDNA). The synthesis methods of circRNA include lasso-driven cyclization, intron-paired cyclization, intron cyclization, intron complementary pairing-driven cyclization, RNA-binding protein-driven cyclization, and artificial synthesis depending on the source. Its main role is to participate in gene expression and the treatment of some diseases. Circular single-stranded DNA is mainly synthesized by chemical ligation, template-directed enzyme ligation, and new techniques for the efficient preparation of DNA single loops and topologies based on CircLigase. It is mainly used in rolling circle amplification (RCA) technology and in the bioprotection of circular aptamers and second messengers. This review focuses on the types, synthesis methods, and applications of cyclic single-stranded nucleic acids, providing a reference for further research on cyclic single-stranded nucleic acids.

In the conventional finite control set model predictive torque control, the cost function consists of different control objectives with varying units of measurements. Due to presence of diverse variables in cost function, weighting factors are used to set the relative importance of these objectives. However, selection of these weighting factors in predictive control of electric drives and power converters still remains an open research challenge. Improper selection of weighting factors can lead to deterioration of the controller performance. This work proposes a novel weighting factor tuning method based on the Multi-Criteria-Decision-Making (MCDM) technique called the Entropy method. This technique has several advantages for multi-objective problem optimization. It provides a quantitive approach and incorporates uncertainties and adaptability to assess the relative importance of different criteria or objectives. This technique performs the online tuning of the weighting factor by forming a data set of the control objectives, i.e., electromagnetic torque and stator flux magnitude. After obtaining the error set of control variables, the objective matrix is normalized, and the entropy technique is applied to design the corresponding weights. An experimental setup based on the dSpace dS1104 controller is used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method for a two-level, three-phase voltage source inverter (2L-3P) fed induction motor drive. The dynamic response of the proposed technique is compared with the previously proposed MCDM-based weighting factor tuning technique and conventional MPTC. The results reveal that the proposed method provides an improved dynamic response of the drive under changing operating conditions with a reduction of 28% in computational burden and 38% in total harmonic distortion, respectively.
