RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Abnormal levels of glutamate constitute a key pathophysiologic mechanism in epilepsy. The use of glutamate chemical exchange saturation transfer (GluCEST) imaging to measure glutamate levels in pediatric epilepsy is rarely reported in research. PURPOSE: To investigate hippocampal glutamate level variations in pediatric epilepsy and the correlation between glutamate and hippocampal subregional volumes. STUDY TYPE: Cross-sectional, prospective. SUBJECTS: A total of 38 school-aged pediatric epilepsy patients with structurally normal MRI as determined by at least two independent radiologists (60% males; 8.7 ± 2.5 years; including 20 cases of focal pediatric epilepsy [FE] and 18 cases of generalized pediatric epilepsy [GE]) and 17 healthy controls (HC) (41% males; 9.0 ± 2.5 years). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 3.0 T; 3D magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo (MPRAGE) and 2D turbo spin echo GluCEST sequences. ASSESSMENT: The relative concentration of glutamate was calculated through pixel-wise magnetization transfer ratio asymmetry (MTRasym) analysis of the GluCEST data. Hippocampal subfield volumes were computed from MPRAGE data using FreeSurfer. STATISTICAL TESTS: This study used t tests, one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis tests, and Pearson correlation analysis. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: The MTRasym values of both the left and right hippocampi were significantly elevated in GE (left: 2.51 ± 0.23 [GE] vs. 2.31 ± 0.12 [HCs], right: 2.50 ± 0.22 [GE] vs. 2.27 ± 0.22 [HCs]). The MTRasym values of the ipsilateral hippocampus were significantly elevated in FE (2.49 ± 0.28 [ipsilateral] vs. 2.29 ± 0.16 [HCs]). The MTRasym values of the ipsilateral hippocampus were significantly increased compared to the contralateral hippocampus in FE (2.49 ± 0.28 [ipsilateral] vs. 2.35 ± 0.34 [contralateral]). No significant differences in hippocampal volume were found between different groups (left hippocampus, P = 0.87; right hippocampus, P = 0.87). DATA CONCLUSION: GluCEST imaging have potential for the noninvasive measurement of glutamate levels in the brains of children with epilepsy. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 2 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 1.

RESUMO

With 75 known species, the freshwater fish genus Sinocyclocheilus is the largest cavefish radiation in the world and shows multiple adaptations for cave-dwelling (stygomorphic adaptations), which include a range of traits such as eye degeneration (normal-eyed, micro-eyed and eyeless), depigmentation of skin, and in some species, the presence of "horns". Their behavioural adaptations to subterranean environments, however, are poorly understood. Wall-following (WF) behaviour, where an organism remains in close contact with the boundary demarcating its habitat when in the dark, is a peculiar behaviour observed in a wide range of animals and is enhanced in cave dwellers. Hence, we hypothesise that wall-following is also present in Sinocyclocheilus, possibly enhanced in eyeless species compared to eye bearing (normal-/micro-eyed species). Using 13 species representative of Sinocyclocheilus radiation and eye morphs, we designed a series of assays, based on pre-existing methods for Astyanax mexicanus behavioural experiments, to examine wall-following behaviour under three conditions. Our results indicate that eyeless species exhibit significantly enhanced intensities of WF compared to normal-eyed species, with micro-eyed forms demonstrating intermediate intensities in the WF distance. Using a mtDNA based dated phylogeny (chronogram with four clades A-D), we traced the degree of WF of these forms to outline common patterns. We show that the intensity of WF behaviour is higher in the subterranean clades compared to clades dominated by normal-eyed free-living species. We also found that eyeless species are highly sensitive to vibrations, whereas normal-eyed species are the least sensitive. Since WF behaviour is presented to some degree in all Sinocyclocheilus species, and given that these fishes evolved in the late Miocene, we identify this behaviour as being ancestral with WF enhancement related to cave occupation. Results from this diversification-scale study of cavefish behaviour suggest that enhanced wall-following behaviour may be a convergent trait across all stygomorphic lineages.

RESUMO

Sown mixed grassland is rarely used for livestock raising and grazing; however, different forages can provide various nutrients for livestock, which may be beneficial to animal health and welfare. We established a sown mixed grassland and adopted a rotational grazing system, monitored the changes in aboveground biomass and sheep weights during the summer grazing period, measured the nutrients of forage by near-infrared spectroscopy, tested the contents of medium- and long-chain fatty acids by gas chromatography, and explored an efficient sheep fattening system that is suitable for agro-pastoral interlacing areas. The results showed that the maximum forage supply in a single grazing paddock was 4.6 kg DM/d, the highest dry matter intake (DMI) was 1.80 kg DM/ewe/d, the average daily weight gain (ADG) was 193.3 g, the DMI and ADG were significantly correlated (P < 0.05), and the average feed weight gain ratio (F/G) reached 8.02. The average crude protein and metabolizable energy intake by sheep were 286 g/ewe/d and 18.5 MJ/ewe/d respectively, and the n-6/n-3 ratio of polyunsaturated fatty acids in mutton was 2.84. The results indicated that the sheep fattening system had high feed conversion efficiency, could improve the yield and quality of sheep, and could be promoted in suitable regions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) can achieve traditional clinical outcomes comparable to those of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). However, patient-reported outcomes (PROs) during the early period after RATS and VATS remain unclear. This study aimed to utilize longitudinal electronic PRO (ePRO) assessments to evaluate symptom burden and functional status between these approaches from patients' perspective. METHODS: This study comprised patients who underwent lobectomy via RATS or VATS for non-small cell lung cancer. We collected multiple-time-point PROs data from the prospective longitudinal study via an ePRO system. Symptom severity and function status were assessed using the perioperative symptom assessment for patients undergoing lung surgery and were analyzed between groups using linear mixed-effects models. RESULTS: Of the 164 patients, 42 underwent RATS and 122 underwent VATS. After propensity score matching (PSM), 42 RATS and 84 VATS exhibited similar baseline characteristics. During the 7-day postoperative period, participants underwent RATS reported milder pain (p = 0.014), coughing (p < 0.001), drowsiness (p = 0.001), and distress (p = 0.045) compared with those underwent VATS. Moreover, participants in RATS group showed less functional interference with walking (p < 0.001) and general activity (p < 0.001). RATS exhibited a shorter postoperative hospitalization (p = 0.021) but higher hospital cost (p < 0.001). Meanwhile, short-term clinical outcomes of operative time, dissected lymph node stations, chest tube drainage, and postoperative complication rates were comparable. CONCLUSION: PROs are important metrics for assessing patients' recovery after lobectomy. Compared with VATS, RATS may induce less symptom burden and better functional status for patients in the early postoperative period.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glutamine Synthetase (GS) could induce vascular sprouting through the improvement of endothelial cell migration in inflammatory diseases. MR vessel-size imaging has been proposed as a valuable approach for visualizing the underlying angiogenic processes in the brain. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the role of GS in the neovascularization of gliomas through the utilization of MR vessel-size imaging and histopathological techniques. METHODS: In this exploratory animal study, we randomly divided the C6 glioma rat models into a control group and an L-methionine sulfoximine (MSO) treatment group. Daily intraperitoneal injections were administered for three consecutive days, starting from day 10 following the implantation of C6 glioma cells in rats. Subsequently, MR vessel size imaging was conducted using a BRUKER 7 T/200 mm MRI scanner, and the MRI results were validated through histopathological examination. RESULTS: A significant decrease in microvessel density was observed in both the tumor periphery and center areas in the MSO treatment group compared to that in the control group. The mean vessel diameter (mVD) and vessel size index (VSI) did not exhibit significant changes compared to the control group. Moreover, the staining intensity of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (CD31) and GS in the tumor periphery was significantly decreased in the MSO treatment group. Additionally, the MSO treatment demonstrated a substantial inhibition of tumor growth. CONCLUSION: GS inhibitors significantly reduced angiogenesis in the periphery area of C6 glioma, exerting an inhibitory effect on tumor progression. Thus, GS inhibitors could be potential therapeutic agents for treating glioma. Additionally, in vivo MR vessel size imaging detects changes in vascularrelated parameters after tumor treatment, making it a promising method for detecting neovascularization in glioma.

RESUMO

Multi-channel and multi-parameter near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has gradually become a new research direction and hot spot due to its ability to provide real-time, continuous, comprehensive indicators of multiple parameters. However, multi-channel and multi-parameter detection may lead to crosstalk between signals. There is still a lack of benchmarks for the evaluation of the reliability, sensitivity, stability and response consistency of the NIRS instruments. In this study, a set of test methods (a human blood model test, ink drop test, multi-channel crosstalk test and multi-parameter crosstalk test) for analyzing crosstalk and verifying the reliability of NIRS was conducted to test experimental verification on a multi-channel (8-channel), multi-parameter (4-parameter) NIRS instrument independently developed by our team. Results show that these tests can be used to analyze the signal crosstalk and verify the reliability, sensitivity, stability and response consistency of the NIRS instrument. This study contributes to the establishment of benchmarks for the NIRS instrument crosstalk and reliability testing. These novel tests have the potential to become the benchmark for NIRS instrument reliability testing.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Cough is one of the most common symptoms after lung cancer surgery, which seriously affects the quality of life. Little research has been conducted on patient's experiences of cough following lung surgery. This study aimed to elucidate the experience of coughing after lung cancer surgery from the patient's perspective regarding symptoms and their impacts on daily life, as well as triggers and dealing strategies. METHODS: Between June 2023 and July 2023, we conducted semi-structured interviews with patients from outpatient clinics of two hospitals who were pathologically diagnosed with lung cancer and experienced cough after surgery through convenience sampling. The interview recordings were transcribed and analyzed by two researchers. The traditional content analysis and thematic analysis were used to identify the common codes, subthemes, and themes. RESULTS: A total of 28 participants were interviewed. The mean age of the participants was 55.21 years (range: 36-75 years), and 21 participants were female. Most patients (75%) were interviewed within 6 months of surgery. We identified five themes (accompanying symptoms, incentives, effects, solution, and information sources) and 12 subthemes (local symptoms, systemic symptoms, personal factors, external factors, emotion, relationship with others, reduced quality of life, medical measures, nonmedical measures, no measures, relatives and friends, and the Internet). Patients with lung cancer may experience various cough symptoms after surgery, which a variety of internal and external factors can trigger. The coughing imposes a double burden on the physical and psychological due to the negative emotions it provokes. CONCLUSION: We generated a concept framework of cough after lung cancer surgery, providing a basis for further development of measurement tools from the patients' perspective. The lack of knowledge related to coughing highlights the need for adequate and timely health education and professional medical care.

RESUMO

Optoacoustic imaging enables the measurement of tissue oxygen saturation (sO2) and blood perfusion while being utilized for detecting tumor microenvironments. Our aim was to employ multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT) to assess immediate-early changes of hemoglobin level and sO2 within breast tumors during diverse treatments. Mouse breast cancer models were allocated into four groups: control, everolimus (EVE), paclitaxel (PTX), and photodynamic therapy (PDT). Hemoglobin was quantified daily, as well as sO2 and blood perfusion were verified by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. MSOT showed a temporal window of enhanced oxygenation and improved perfusion in EVE and PTX groups, while sO2 consistently remained below baseline in PDT. The same results were obtained for the IHC. Therefore, MSOT can monitor tumor hypoxia and indirectly reflect blood perfusion in a non-invasive and non-labeled way, which has the potential to monitor breast cancer progression early and enable individualized treatment in clinical practice.

RESUMO

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are known for their cleanliness and high efficiency. However, the limited energy density and high cost are the main obstacles to this technology. This study aims to overcome these challenges and enhance the overall performance of the PEMFC. Five types of PEMFCs with different blockages are proposed and simulated in this study. Afterward, the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method is performed as a multiobjective evaluation. This study shows that the nozzle effect in the channel enhances the mass transfer of PEMFC and improves water and thermal management, resulting in a reduction of liquid water by up to 35.8%. The blockages benefit the output performance of the PEMFC. For example, the elliptical blockage shows the highest improvement in electrochemical conversion efficiency at 3.42%. The TOPSIS examines indices of power, exergy, economy, environment, and water and thermal management. The multiobjective evaluation shows that the elliptical blockage is more beneficial for PEMFC. This study provides an optimized design of the PEMFC flow channel and a new perspective to evaluate the structural improvement of PEMFC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ketamine is a quick acting antidepressant drug, and an accurate detection method is lacking. Ketamine's effects in a rat depression model have not previously been well explored using glutamate chemical exchange saturation transfer (GluCEST). PURPOSE: To investigate the GluCEST changes of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) rats after receiving either ketamine or saline injection. STUDY TYPE: Randomized animal model trial. ANIMAL MODEL: 12 CUMS and 6 Sprague-Dawley rats. Divided into three groups: ketamine (N = 6), saline (N = 6), and control (N = 6). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 7.0 T/the sequence is GluCEST and 1 H MR spectroscopy (MRS). ASSESSMENT: The CUMS rats were exposed to different stress factors for 8 weeks. The glutamate concentration in the hippocampus was assessed by the GluCEST,1 H MRS, and the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). STATISTICAL TESTS: The t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Pearson's correlation. RESULTS: In depression conditions, GluCEST signals were lower in the bilateral hippocampus than in control group. Thirty minutes after ketamine injection, the GluCEST signals in the bilateral hippocampus were higher compared with the saline group (left: 2.99 ± 0.34 [Control] vs. 2.44 ± 0.20 [Saline] vs. 2.85 ± 0.11 [Ketamine]; right: 2.97 ± 0.28 [Control] vs. 2.49 ± 0.25 [Saline] vs. 2.86 ± 0.19 [Ketamine]). In 1 H MRS, significant changes were only observed in the left hippocampus (2.00 ± 0.16 [Control] vs. 1.81 ± 0.09 [Saline] vs. 2.04 ± 0.14 [Ketamine]). Furthermore, HPLC results showed similar trends to those observed in the GluCEST results (left: 2.32 ± 0.22 [Control] vs. 1.96 ± 0.11 [Saline] vs. 2.18 ± 0.11 [Ketamine]; right: 2.35 ± 0.18 [Control] vs. 1.87 ± 0.16 [Saline] vs. 2.09 ± 0.08 [Ketamine]). DATA CONCLUSION: GluCEST can sensitively evaluate the ketamine's antidepressant effects by detecting the fast increase in glutamate concentration. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 1 TECHNICAL EFFICACY STAGE: 1.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Inconsistent pathological responses of tumor and lymph nodes (LNs) were frequently observed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. However, there is a lack of studies to report the prognostic significance and the relevant clinicopathological factors of tumor-nodal inconsistent responses after neoadjuvant immunotherapy or chemoimmunotherapy. Therefore, this study aimed to depict the inconsistent pathological combined tumor-nodal responses in NSCLC patients after neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy as well as the underlying clinical significance. METHODS: A total of 81 node-positive NSCLC patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy were eligible for inclusion. Demographic, radiologic, and pathological features of patients were recorded. Patients with pathological complete response of both tumor (ypT(pCR)) and LNs (ypN0) were classified into the combined good responder group and the relevant clinicopathological features were evaluated. The event-free survival (EFS) outcome was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier analysis. RESULTS: The ypN0 and ypT(pCR) rates were 74.1 % and 42.0 %, respectively. A significant correlation was observed between ypT(pCR) and ypN0 (P = 0.003), but inconsistent responses remained. The combined responses of the primary tumor and LNs demonstrated a significant association with the prognosis outcome (P = 0.005). Notably, patients who received at least twice of their infusions of immune checkpoint inhibitors after 15:30 had a worse prognosis (P = 0.015). CONCLUSION: A significant but not absolute correlation was observed between good tumor response and good nodal response in NSCLC patients after neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy, but inconsistent responses were also found. The combination of tumor and nodal responses is significantly associated with prognosis and combined good responder can be used as a reliable prognosis predictor.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical characteristics of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) patients with bone marrow involvement and chromosome abnormalities, and further analyze the correlation between the degree of chromosome abnormality and prognosis. METHODS: The clinical data of 88 patients diagnosed with DLBCL with bone marrow involvement and complete chromosomal findings in Shanxi Province Cancer Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The χ2 test was used to analyze their clinical characteristics, and the Kaplan-Meier method was used in PFS and OS, and log-rank method in comparison. RESULTS: Chromosome abnormalities were detected in 31 of the 88 patients(35.2%), 15 of whom had complex karyotype(17.0%). The positive rate of BCL-2, BCL-6, C-MYC and Ki-67≥80% was high in patients with complex karyotype, and most of them are double expressor lymphoma. Survival analysis showed that patients with complex karyotype of DLBCL had poorer PFS and OS compared to those with normal karyotype and 1-2 chromosomal abnormalities. CONCLUSION: In DLBCL patients with bone marrow involvement and chromosome abnormalities, patients with complex karyotype have a shorter survival time.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patients with pulmonary nodules (PNs) often suffer from the psychological burden of their disease and trap in sleep problems. This is insufficiently identified and addressed in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychological distress and sleep quality among PN patients and identify potential risk or protective factors for sleep quality. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study, which included 731 PN patients who visited the thoracic clinic of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital. Each participant completed a structured questionnaire consisting of demographic characteristics, clinical characteristics, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The reliability of the HADS (Cronbach's α = 0.944) and PSQI (Cronbach's α = 0. 0.757) in this study was satisfactory. RESULTS: A total of 328 patients (44.9%) had PSQI global scores > 5, indicating poor quality of sleep. Age ≥ 50 years (OR 1.88, 95% CI 1.35-2.58; P < 0.001), female (OR 1.56, 95% CI 1.05-2.33; P = 0.028), detection of nodule for 7-12 months (vs for more than 24 months, OR 2.14, 95%CI 1.18-3.89, P = 0.013), anxiety (OR 1.78, 95% CI 1.17-2.71; P = 0.007) and depression (OR 1.84, 95% CI 1.16-2.92; P = 0.010) were independent risk factors for impaired sleep quality. A significant correlation revealed that sleep quality was positively correlated with both anxiety and depression (Spearman r = 0.342, P < 0.001 and Spearman r = 0.314, P < 0.001, respectively). All dimensions of the PSQI scale were significantly decreased in both anxiety group and depression group compared to the psychologically normal group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Impaired sleep quality is highly prevalent among patients with PNs and associated with age, gender, time from the date of detection, anxiety and depression. Based on the finding of impaired sleep quality and psychological health, screening for psychological and sleep problems in PN patients will be of great clinical benefit.

RESUMO

In this paper, the voltage-transmittance curvesKDP crystals were measured accurately between two crossed or parallel polarizers using longitudinal electro-optic effect. The end faces of rectangular KDP samples were coated with ring-shaped electrodes using conductive silver paint (CSP). The change of half period voltage U i has been investigated. A method for quantitative characterization of residual stress has been proposed, based on deviation voltage U d. The results demonstrate that loading voltage is close to the integration of electric field intensity in crystal along the optical path when the CSP ring electrodes have a large outer radius R, small inner radius r, and long-distance d. The half-period voltage U i is also close to longitudinal half-wave voltage U π in these circumstances. The unclamped electro-optic coefficient γ63σ of KDP crystal at room temperature was measured as 10.24±0.05p m/V at the wavelength of 632.8 nm.

RESUMO

Osteocytes are the mechano-sensors of bones. Large gradient high-static magnetic fields (LG-HMFs) produce stable, high-precision, and non-attenuation mechanical forces. We discovered that magnetic forces opposite to gravity inhibited MLO-Y4 osteocyte proliferation and viability by inducing structural damage and apoptosis. In contrast, magnetic force loading in the same direction as that of gravity promoted the proliferation and inhibited apoptosis of MLO-Y4 osteocytes. Differentially expressed gene (DEG) analysis after magnetic force stimulation indicated that the ECM-integrin-CSK axis responded most significantly to mechanical signals. Wisp2 was the most significant DEG between the 12 T upward and downward groups, showing the highest correlation with the Wnt pathway according to the STRING protein interaction database. Explaining the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which mechanical stimuli influence bone remodeling is currently the focus of osteocyte-related research. Our findings provide insights into the effects of LG-HMFs on bone cells, which have further implications in clinical practice.

RESUMO

MAIN CONCLUSION: Soil water content only affected regeneration time, whereas the NSC content was related to the success of alfalfa regeneration. Non-structural carbohydrates (NSCs) are important factors influencing the overwintering and regeneration of alfalfa. In this study, we analyzed eight in-situ samplings at three depths of coarse roots (crown, 20 and 40 cm depths) during the overwintering period and assessed the dynamic change and allocation of root NSCs under three irrigation frequencies (irrigation once every second day/4 days/8 days). Primary results showed that: (i) before cold acclimation, irrigation once every second day was beneficial to the accumulation of soluble sugars and starch in crown tissues, which would be maintained until the following spring and accelerate the regeneration time of alfalfa; (ii) during the overwintering process, the soluble sugars and starch contents in the crown were significantly higher than those in deeper roots, and there was an asynchronous effect caused by the change in soluble sugars and starch among roots at three depths; and (iii) the change trend of soluble sugar and starch contents was consistent with that of semi-lethal temperature, and there was a significant negative correlation between the content of soluble sugar (R2 = 0.8046) and starch (R2 = 0.6332) and the semi-lethal temperature. This study demonstrated that NSCs are the key driver of cold tolerance and regeneration under the three irrigation frequencies evaluated. Our results provide further insight into the allocation of NSCs in winter. This improved understanding of the mechanism of overwintering will allow for improved water management of alfalfa in high latitude areas.

RESUMO

Background: Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women. However, accurate diagnosis of breast cancer using medical images heavily relies on the experience of radiologists. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence model that diagnosed single-mass breast lesions on contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) for assisting the diagnostic workflow. Methods: A total of 1912 women with single-mass breast lesions on CEM images before biopsy or surgery were included from June 2017 to October 2022 at three centres in China. Samples were divided into training and validation sets, internal testing set, pooled external testing set, and prospective testing set. A fully automated pipeline system (FAPS) using RefineNet and the Xception + Pyramid pooling module (PPM) was developed to perform the segmentation and classification of breast lesions. The performances of six radiologists and adjustments in Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) category 4 under the FAPS-assisted strategy were explored in pooled external and prospective testing sets. The segmentation performance was assessed using the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC), and the classification was assessed using heatmaps, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity. The radiologists' reading time was recorded for comparison with the FAPS. This trial is registered with China Clinical Trial Registration Centre (ChiCTR2200063444). Findings: The FAPS-based segmentation task achieved DSCs of 0.888 ± 0.101, 0.820 ± 0.148 and 0.837 ± 0.132 in the internal, pooled external and prospective testing sets, respectively. For the classification task, the FAPS achieved AUCs of 0.947 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.916-0.978), 0.940 (95% [CI]: 0.894-0.987) and 0.891 (95% [CI]: 0.816-0.945). It outperformed radiologists in terms of classification efficiency based on single lesions (6 s vs 3 min). Moreover, the FAPS-assisted strategy improved the performance of radiologists. BI-RADS category 4 in 12.4% and 13.3% of patients was adjusted in two testing sets with the assistance of FAPS, which may play an important guiding role in the selection of clinical management strategies. Interpretation: The FAPS based on CEM demonstrated the potential for the segmentation and classification of breast lesions, and had good generalisation ability and clinical applicability. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glutamate dysregulation is one of the key pathogenic mechanisms of major depressive disorder (MDD), and glutamate chemical exchange saturation transfer (GluCEST) has been used for glutamate measurement in some brain diseases but rarely in depression. PURPOSE: To investigate the GluCEST changes in hippocampus in MDD and the relationship between glutamate and hippocampal subregional volumes. STUDY TYPE: Cross-sectional. SUBJECTS: Thirty-two MDD patients (34% males; 22.03 ± 7.21 years) and 47 healthy controls (HCs) (43% males; 22.00 ± 3.28 years). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 3.0 T; magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo (MPRAGE) for three-dimensional T1-weighted images, two-dimensional turbo spin echo GluCEST, and multivoxel chemical shift imaging (CSI) for proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1 H MRS). ASSESSMENT: GluCEST data were quantified by magnetization transfer ratio asymmetry (MTRasym ) analysis and assessed by the relative concentration of 1 H MRS-measured glutamate. FreeSurfer was used for hippocampus segmentation. STATISTICAL TESTS: The independent sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's correlation, and partial correlation analysis were used. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: In the left hippocampus, GluCEST values were significantly decreased in MDD (2.00 ± 1.08 [MDD] vs. 2.62 ± 1.41 [HCs]) and showed a significantly positive correlation with Glx/Cr (r = 0.37). GluCEST values were significantly positively correlated with the volumes of CA1 (r = 0.40), subiculum (r = 0.40) in the left hippocampus and CA1 (r = 0.51), molecular_layer_HP (r = 0.50), GC-ML-DG (r = 0.42), CA3 (r = 0.44), CA4 (r = 0.44), hippocampus-amygdala-transition-area (r = 0.46), and the whole hippocampus (r = 0.47) in the right hippocampus. Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores showed significantly negative correlations with the volumes of the left presubiculum (r = -0.40), left parasubiculum (r = -0.47), and right presubiculum (r = -0.41). DATA CONCLUSION: GluCEST can be used to measure glutamate changes and help to understand the mechanism of hippocampal volume loss in MDD. Hippocampal volume changes are associated with disease severity. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 2 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 1.

RESUMO

The unique and open large frame structures of prussian blue analogues (PBA) enables it for accommodating a large number of cations (Na+, K+, Ca2+, etc.), thus, PBA are considered as promising electrode materials for the rechargeable battery. However, due to the chemical composition, there are still many alkaline metal ions in the gap within the framework, which puts multivalent metals in PBA in a low valence state and affects the sodium storage performance. To improve the valence of metal ions in PBA materials, precursors prepared by co-precipitation method and hydrothermal method are used to synthesis KxCo1.5-0.5xFe(CN)6 through further chemical oxidation. Through the introducing of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with excellent conductivity by a simple physical mixing method, the cycle stability and rate performance of the PBA material can be further improved. The K0.5Co1.2Fe(CN)6·2H2O/rGO anode prepared with 2 h hydrothermal time and further chemical oxidation, named as KCoHCP-H2-EK/rGO, exhibits a super electrochemical performance, delivering initial charge/discharge capacities of 846.7/1445.0 mAh·g-1, and a capacity retention of 58.2% after 100 cycles at a current density of 100 mA·g-1. The KCoHCP-H2-EK/rGO outstanding electrochemical behaviors are attributed to the unique dual-active site structure properties and the improved surface conductance of materials by rGO components.
