RESUMO

Organic dyes are widely used in many important areas, but they also bring many issues for water pollution. To address the above issues, a reconstructed kaolinite hybrid compound (γ-AlOOH@A-Kaol) was obtained from raw kaolinite (Kaol) in this work. The product was then characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (ATR-FTIR), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the absorption properties of γ-AlOOH@A-Kaol for congo red were further studied. The results demonstrated that flower-like γ-AlOOH with nanolamellae were uniformly loaded on the surface of acid-treated Kaol with a porous structure (A-Kaol). In addition, the surface area (36.5 m2/g), pore volume (0.146 cm3/g), and pore size (13.0 nm) of γ-AlOOH@A-Kaol were different from those of A-Kaol (127.4 m2/g, 0.127 cm3/g, and 4.28 nm, respectively) and γ-AlOOH (34.1 m2/g, 0.315 cm3/g, and 21.5 nm, respectively). The unique structure could significantly enhance the sorption capacity for congo red, which could exceed 1000 mg/g. The reasons may be ascribed to the abundant groups of -OH, large specific surface area, and porous structure of γ-AlOOH@A-Kaol. This work provides an efficient route for comprehensive utilization and production of Kaol-based compound materials that could be used in the field of environmental conservation.

RESUMO

This study aims to predict the significant duration (D5-75, D5-95) of seismic motion by employing machine learning algorithms. Based on three parameters (moment magnitude, fault distance, and average shear wave velocity), two additional parameters(fault top depth and epicenter mechanism parameters) were introduced in this study. The XGBoost algorithm is utilized for characteristic parameter optimization analysis to obtain the optimal combination of four parameters. We compare the prediction results of four machine learning algorithms (random forest, XGBoost, BP neural network, and SVM) and develop a new method of significant duration prediction by constructing two fusion models (stacking and weighted averaging). The fusion model demonstrates an improvement in prediction accuracy and generalization ability of the significant duration when compared to single algorithm models based on evaluation indicators and residual values. The accuracy and rationality of the fusion model are validated through comparison with existing research.

RESUMO

Tuning the topology of two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is of paramount scientific interest but remains largely unexplored. Herein, we present a site-selective synthetic strategy that enables the tuning of 2D COF topology by simply adjusting the molar ratio of an amine-functionalized dihydrazide monomer (NH2 -Ah) and 4,4',4''-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tribenzaldehyde (Tz). This approach resulted in the formation of two distinct COFs: a clover-like 2D COF with free amine groups (NH2 -Ah-Tz) and a honeycomb-like COF without amine groups (Ah-Tz). Both COFs exhibited good crystallinity and moderate porosity. Remarkably, the clover-shaped NH2 -Ah-Tz COF, with abundant free amine groups, displayed significantly enhanced adsorption capacities toward crystal violet (CV, 261 mg/g) and congo red (CR, 1560 mg/g) compared to the non-functionalized honeycomb-like Ah-Tz COF (123 mg/g for CV and 1340 mg/g for CR), underscoring the pivotal role of free amine functional groups in enhancing adsorption capacities for organic dyes. This work highlights that the site-selective synthetic strategy paves a new avenue for manipulating 2D COF topology by adjusting the monomer feeding ratio, thereby modulating their adsorption performances toward organic dyes.

RESUMO

Plant size is a crucial functional trait with substantial implications in agronomy and forestry. Understanding the factors influencing plant size is essential for ecosystem management and restoration efforts. Various environmental factors and plant density play significant roles in plant size. However, how plant size responds to mean annual precipitation (MAP), mean annual temperature (MAT), and density in the arid areas remains incomplete. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted comprehensive vegetation surveys in the Gobi Desert in northwestern China with a MAP below 250 mm. We also collected climate data to disentangle the respective influences of climate and density on the community-weighted plant height, crown length, and crown width. Our observations revealed that the community-weighted mean plant height, crown length, and width demonstrated a positive association with MAT but negative relationships with both MAP and density. These patterns can be attributed to the predominance of shrubs over herbs in arid regions, as shrubs tend to be larger in size. The proportion of shrubs increases with MAT, while it decreases with MAP and density, resulting in higher plant height and larger crown dimensions. Although both MAP and MAT affect plant size in the Gobi Desert, our findings highlight the stronger role of plant density in regulating plant size, indicating that the surrounding plant community and competition among individuals are crucial drivers of plant size patterns. Our findings provide valuable guidance for nature-based solutions for vegetation restoration and ecosystem management, highlighting the importance of considering plant density as a key factor when designing and implementing restoration strategies in arid areas.

RESUMO

Desert farmland provides food for desert areas, but water is the main limiting factor of this region, thus desert farmland has an extremely fragile ecological environment. This study investigated the temporal and spatial variations of vegetation NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) in the Ulan Buh Desert, China, from 1990 to 2022, using long-term Landsat satellite data obtained from the Google Earth Engine platform and local statistical data. The results showed that from 1990 to 2022, the NDVI exhibited relatively small fluctuations and a steady increase. Furthermore, the study analyzed the impact of climate factors, namely precipitation and temperature, on NDVI, and collected the groundwater lever changes under irrigation and farmland development. The results demonstrated a positive correlation between NDVI and both precipitation and temperature from 1990 to 2006. The study area experienced an overall trend of increasing humidity. Specifically, from 1990 to 2006, significant positive correlations with precipitation and temperature were observed in 4.4% and 5.5% of the region, respectively. From 2007 to 2022, significant positive correlations were observed in 5.4% and 72.8% of the region for precipitation and temperature, respectively. These findings suggest that temperature has become increasingly influential on vegetation NDVI, while the impact of precipitation remains relatively stable. Moreover, the study assessed the impact of human activities on vegetation NDVI. The results revealed that from 1990 to 2006, human activities contributed to 43.1% of the promotion of local vegetation NDVI, which increased to 90.9% from 2007 to 2022. This study provides valuable insights into the dynamics of vegetation in the Ulan Buh Desert and its response to climatic changes and human activities. The findings highlight the significance of climate conditions and human interventions in shaping the vegetation dynamics in the region, offering essential information for ecological restoration and conservation efforts.

RESUMO

De novo design of peptides that bind specifically to functional proteins is beneficial for diagnostics and therapeutics. However, complex permutations and combinations of amino acids pose significant challenges to the rational design of peptides with desirable stability and affinity. Herein, we develop a computational-based evolution method, namely, peptidomimetics-driven recognition elements design (PepDRED), to derive hemoglobin-inspired peptidomimetics. PepDRED mimics the natural evolutionism pipeline to generate stable apovariant (AVs) structures for wild-type counterparts via automated point mutations and validates their efficiency through free binding energy analysis and per residue energy decomposition analysis. For application demonstration, we applied PepDRED to design de novo peptides to bind FhuA, a typical TonB-dependent transporter (TBDT). TBDTs are Gram-negative bacterial outer membrane proteins responsible for iron transport and vital for bacterial resistance. PepDRED generated a pool of AVs and proceeded to reach an optimized peptide, AV440, with a remarkable binding affinity of -21 kcal/mol. AV440 is ∼2.5-fold stronger than the existing FhuA inhibitor Microcin J25. Network energy analysis further unveils that incorporating methionine (M42) in the N-terminal region significantly enhances inter-residue contacts and binding affinity. PepDRED offers a prompt and efficient in silico approach to develop potent peptide candidates for target proteins.

RESUMO

Alfalfa (Medicago satiua L.) is a major forage legume in semi-arid regions such as North China Plain and is the material foundation for the development of herbivorous animal husbandry. How to improve the yield of alfalfa per unit area from a technical perspective and achieve high-yield cultivation of alfalfa is the focus of research by scientific researchers and producers. To evaluate the effects of irrigation and P fertilization as well as the P residual effect on alfalfa yield, we conducted a six-year (2008-2013) field experiment in loamy sand soil. There were four irrigation levels (W0: 0 mm, W1: 25 mm, W2: 50 mm, W3: 75 mm per time, four times a year) and three P fertilization levels (F0: 0 kg P2O5 ha-1, F1: 52.5 kg P2O5 ha-1, F2: 105 kg P2O5 ha-1 per time, twice a year). The highest dry matter yield (DMY) was obtained in the W2F2 treatment, with an annual mean of 13,961.1 kg ha-1. During 2009-2013, the DMY of first and second-cut alfalfa increased significantly with increasing irrigation levels, whereas the opposite pattern was observed in fourth-cut alfalfa. Regression analysis revealed that the optimal amount of water supply (sum of seasonal irrigation and rainfall during the growing season) to obtain maximum DMY was between 725 and 755 mm. Increasing P fertilization contributed to significantly higher DMY in each cut of alfalfa during 2010-2013 but not in the first two growing seasons. The mean annual DMY of W0F2, W1F2, W2F2, and W3F2 treatments was 19.7%, 25.6%, 30.7%, and 24.1% higher than that of W0F0 treatment, respectively. When no P fertilizer was applied in F2 plots in 2013, soil availability and total P concentrations, annual alfalfa DMY, and plant nutrient contents did not differ significantly compared with those in fertilized F2 plots. Results of this study suggest that moderate irrigation with lower annual P fertilization is a more environmentally sound management practice while maintaining alfalfa productivity in the semi-arid study area.

RESUMO

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as auspicious porous adsorbents for radioiodine capture. However, their conventional solvothermal synthesis demands multiday synthetic times and anaerobic conditions, largely hampering their practical use. To tackle these challenges, we present a facile microwave-assisted synthesis of 2D imine-linked COFs, Mw-TFB-BD-X, (X = -CH3 and -OCH3) under air within just 1 h. The resultant COFs possessed higher crystallinity, better yields, and more uniform morphology than their solvothermal counterparts. Remarkably, Mw-TFB-BD-CH3 and Mw-TFB-BD-OCH3 exhibited exceptional iodine adsorption capacities of 7.83 g g-1 and 7.05 g g-1, respectively, placing them among the best-performing COF adsorbents for static iodine vapor capture. Moreover, Mw-TFB-BD-CH3 and Mw-TFB-BD-OCH3 can be reused 5 times with no apparent loss in the adsorption capacity. The exceptionally high iodine adsorption capacities and excellent reusability of COFs were mainly attributed to their uniform spherical morphology and enhanced chemical stability due to the in-built electron-donating groups, despite their low surface areas. This work establishes a benchmark for developing advanced iodine adsorbents that combine fast kinetics, high capacity, excellent reusability, and facile rapid synthesis, a set of appealing features that remain challenging to merge in COF adsorbents so far.

RESUMO

The development of chiral covalent organic frameworks (COFs) by postsynthetic modification is challenging due to the common occurrences of racemization and crystallinity decrement under harsh modification conditions. Herein, we employ an effective site-selective synthetic strategy for the fabrication of an amine-functionalized hydrazone-linked COF, NH2-Th-Tz COF, by the Schiff-base condensation between aminoterephthalohydrazide (NH2-Th) and 4,4',4″-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tribenzaldehyde (Tz). The resulting NH2-Th-Tz COF with free amine groups on the pore walls provides an appealing platform to install desired chiral moieties through postsynthetic modification. Three chiral moieties including tartaric acid, camphor-10-sulfonyl chloride, and diacetyl-tartaric anhydride were postsynthetically integrated into NH2-Th-Tz COF by reacting amine groups with acid, acyl chloride, and anhydride, giving rise to a series of chiral COFs with distinctive chiral pore surfaces. Moreover, the crystallinity, porosity, and chirality of chiral COFs were retained after modification. Remarkably, the chiral COFs exhibited an exceptional enantioselective adsorption capability toward tyrosine with a maximum enantiomeric excess (ee) value of up to 25.20%. Molecular docking simulations along with experimental results underscored the pivotal role of hydrogen bonds between chiral COFs and tyrosine in enantioselective adsorption. This work highlights the potential of site-selective synthesis as an effective tool for the preparation of highly crystalline and robust amine-decorated COFs, which offer an auspicious platform for the facile synthesis of tailor-made chiral COFs for enantioselective adsorption and beyond.

RESUMO

Plant glutathione peroxidases (GPXs) are the main enzymes in the antioxidant defense system that sustain H2O2 homeostasis and normalize plant reaction to abiotic stress conditions. However, the genome-wide identification of the GPX gene family and its responses to environmental stresses, especially salt stress, in Nitraria sibirica, which is a shrub that can survive in saline environments, has not yet been reported. Here, we first report the genome-wide analysis of the GPX gene family in N. sibirica, leading to a total of seven NsGPX genes that are distributed on six of the twelve chromosomes. Phylogenetic analysis showed that NsGPX genes were grouped into four major groups (Group I-IV). Three types of cis-acting elements were identified in the NsGPX promoters, mainly related to hormones and stress response. The quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis indicated that NsGPX1 and NsGPX3 were significantly up-regulated in stem and leaf, while NsGPX7 transcriptionally in root in response to salt stress. The current study identified a total seven NsGPX genes in N. sibirica via genome-wide analysis, and discovered that NsGPXs may play an important role in response to salt stress. Taken together, our findings provide a basis for further functional studies of NsGPX genes, especially in regarding to the resistance to salt stress of this halophyte plant N. sibirica, eventually aid in the discovery of new methods to restore overtly saline soil.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Mori Fructus is an economical and readily available traditional Chinese medicine and food. Polysaccharides in Mori Fructus have clear antioxidant activity and have been found to alleviate oxidative stress (OS)-induced liver damage in experimental studies. The mechanism of regulation of cellular antioxidant activity by mulberry polysaccharides has been suggested to be Nrf2, but it is not clear whether the Nrf2 pathway is mediated by activation of other targets, and the exact process of effects in hepatocytes has yet to be elucidated. METHODS: In this study, the basic characterization of total polysaccharides extracted from mulberry fruits (Morus nigra Linn.) was analyzed. A model of oxidative damage induced by H2O2 in HepG2 cells was established. The levels of cellular oxidation-related markers, including ROS, SOD and Gpx, were then examined. Furthermore, Q-PCR and Western-blot were used to detect the expression of genes and proteins related to the PI3K/Akt-mediated Nrf2 signaling pathway. RESULTS: The results showed that a total mulberry polysaccharides (TMP) has a molecular weight of 57.5 kDa with a pyranose ring mainly composed of glucose (48.81%), galactose (22.79%) and mannose (18.2%). TMP reduced the accumulation of ROS in HepG2 cells after H2O2 treatment and modulated the activity of SOD and Gpx. Q-PCR and Western-blot showed that TMP could up-regulate the expression of p-PI3K, p-AKT, Nrf2, NQO1 and HO-1. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that TMP can reduce ROS accumulation in H2O2-treated HepG2 cells and restore cell viability by activating the PI3K/AKT-mediated Nrf2 pathway. TMP may be a potent antioxidant agent that could slow down oxidative damage to the liver.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Endocardial fibroelastosis (EFE) is a diffuse endocardial collagen and elastin hyperplasia disease of unknown etiology, which may be accompanied by myocardial degenerative changes leading to acute or chronic heart failure. However, acute heart failure (AHF) without obvious associated triggers is rare. Prior to the report of endomyocardial biopsy, the diagnosis and treatment of EFE are highly susceptible to being confounded with other primary cardiomyopathies. Here, we report a case of pediatric AHF caused by EFE mimicking dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), with the aim of providing a valuable reference for clinicians to early identify and diagnose EFE-induced AHF. CASE SUMMARY: A 13-mo-old female child was admitted to hospital with retching. Chest X-ray demonstrated enhanced texture in both lungs and an enlarged heart shadow. Color doppler echocardiography showed an enlarged left heart with ventricular wall hypokinesis and decreased left heart function. Abdominal color ultrasonography revealed a markedly enlarged liver. Pending the result of the endomyocardial biopsy report, the child was treated with a variety of resuscitative measures including nasal cannula for oxygen, intramuscular sedation with chlorpromazine and promethazine, cedilanid for cardiac contractility enhancement, and diuretic treatment with furosemide. Subsequently, the child's endomyocardial biopsy report result was confirmed as EFE. After the above early interventions, the child's condition gradually stabilized and improved. One week later, the child was discharged. During a 9-mo follow-up period, the child took intermittent low-dose oral digoxin with no signs of recurrence or exacerbation of the heart failure. CONCLUSION: Our report suggests that EFE-induced pediatric AHF may present in children over 1 year of age without any apparent precipitants, and that the associated clinical presentations are grossly similar to that of pediatric DCM. Nonetheless, it is still possible to be diagnosed effectively on the basis of the comprehensive analysis of auxiliary inspection findings before the result of the endomyocardial biopsy is reported.

RESUMO

Desert ecosystem CO2 exchange may play an important role in global carbon cycling. However, it is still not clear how the CO2 fluxes of shrub-dominated desert ecosystems respond to precipitation changes. We performed a 10-year long-term rain addition experiment in a Nitraria tangutorum desert ecosystem in northwestern China. In the growing seasons of 2016 and 2017, with three rain addition treatments (natural precipitation +0%, +50%, and +100% of annual average precipitation), gross ecosystem photosynthesis (GEP), ecosystem respiration (ER), and net ecosystem CO2 exchange (NEE) were measured. The GEP responded nonlinearly and the ER linearly to rain addition. The NEE presented a nonlinear response along the rain addition gradient, with a saturation threshold by rain addition between +50% and +100%. The growing season mean NEE ranged from -2.25 to -5.38 µmol CO2 m-2 s-1, showing net CO2 uptake effect, with significant enhancement (more negative) under the rain addition treatments. Although natural rainfall fluctuated greatly in the growing seasons of 2016 and 2017, reaching 134.8% and 44.0% of the historical average, the NEE values remained stable. Our findings highlight that growing season CO2 sequestration in desert ecosystems will increase against the background of increasing precipitation levels. The different responses of GEP and ER of desert ecosystems under changing precipitation regimes should be considered in global change models.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of static magnetic field (SMF) and its regulatory mechanism in the repair of osteoarthritic cartilage. Methods: Fourteen-week-old female C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into the sham operation group and the osteoarthritis (OA) groups with and without SMF application. SMF was applied at 200 â€‹mT for two consecutive weeks. Changes in knee cartilage were examined by histomorphometry, and the chondrogenesis and migration of endogenous stem cells were assessed. The expression of SRY-related protein 9 (SOX9), Collagen type II (COL2), matrix metallopeptidase 13 (MMP13), stromal cell-derived factor 1/C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (SDF-1/CXCR4), Piezo1 and other genes was evaluated, and the mechanism of SMF's action was tested using the CXCR4 inhibitor, AMD3100, and Piezo1 siRNA. Results: SMF significantly decreased the OARSI scores after induction of OA. SMF was beneficial to chondrogenesis by elevating SOX9. In the OA mouse model, an increase in MMP13 with a decrease in COL2 led to the destruction of the cartilage extracellular matrix, which was suppressed by SMF. SMF promoted the migration of cartilage-derived stem/progenitor cells and bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). It increased SDF-1 and CXCR4, while the CXCR4 inhibitor significantly suppressed the beneficial effects of SMF. The application of Piezo1 siRNA inhibited the SMF-induced increase of CXCR4. Conclusion: SMF enhanced chondrogenesis and improved cartilage extracellular matrices. It activated the Piezo1-mediated SDF-1/CXCR4 regulatory axis and promoted the migration of endogenous stem cells. Collectively, it attenuated the pathological progression of cartilage destruction in OA mice. The Translational potential of this article: The findings in this study provided convincing evidence that SMF could enhance cartilage repair and improve OA symptoms, suggesting that SMF could have clinical value in the treatment of OA.

RESUMO

Sodium storage batteries are one of the ever-increasing next-generation large-scale energy storage systems owing to the abundant resources and low cost. However, their viability is severely hampered by dendrite-related hazards on anodes. Herein, a novel ultrathin (8 µm) exterior-nonporous separator composed of honeycomb-structured fibers is prepared for homogeneous Na deposition and suppressed dendrite penetration. The unhindered ion transmission greatly benefits from honeycomb-structured fibers with huge electrolyte uptake (376.7%) and the polymer's inherent transport ability. Additionally, polar polymer chains consisting of polyethersulfone and polyvinylidene customize the highly aggregated solvation structure of electrolytes via substantial solvent immobilization, facilitating ion-conductivity-enhanced inorganic-rich solid-electrolyte interphase with remarkable interface endurance. With the reliable mechanical strength of the separator, the assembled sodium-ion full cell delivers significantly improved energy density and high safety, enabling stable operation under cutting and rolling. The as-prepared separator can further be generalized to lithium-based batteries for which apparent dendrite inhibition and cyclability are accessible and demonstrates its potential for practical application.

RESUMO

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a major health problem, characterized by progressive cartilage degeneration. Previous works have shown that mechanical loading can alleviate OA symptoms by suppressing catabolic activities. This study evaluated whether mechanical loading can enhance anabolic activities by facilitating the recruitment of stem cells for chondrogenesis. We evaluated cartilage degradation in a mouse model of OA through histology with H&E and safranin O staining. We also evaluated the migration and chondrogenic ability of stem cells using in vitro assays, including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and Western blot analysis. The result showed that the OA mice that received mechanical loading exhibited resilience to cartilage damage. Compared to the OA group, mechanical loading promoted the expression of Piezo1 and the migration of stem cells was promoted via the SDF-1/CXCR4 axis. Also, the chondrogenic differentiation was enhanced by the upregulation of SOX9, a transcription factor important for chondrogenesis. Collectively, the results revealed that mechanical loading facilitated cartilage repair by promoting the migration and chondrogenic differentiation of endogenous stem cells. This study provided new insights into the loading-driven engagement of endogenous stem cells and the enhancement of anabolic responses for the treatment of OA.

RESUMO

The calcineurin B-like-interacting protein kinase (CIPK) protein family plays a key role in the plant calcium ion-mediated signal transduction pathway, which regulates a plant's response to abiotic stress. Nitraria sibirica pall. (N. sibirica) is a halophyte with a strong tolerance for high salt environments, yet how it is able to deal with salt stress on a molecular level is still unknown. Due to their function as described in other plant species, CIPK genes are prime candidates for a role in salt stress signaling in N. sibirica. In this study, we identified and analyzed the phylogenetic makeup and gene expression of the N. sibirica CIPK gene family. A total of 14 CIPKs were identified from the N. sibirica genome and were clustered into seven groups based on their phylogeny. The promoters of NsCIPK genes contained multiple elements involved in hormonal and stress response. Synteny analysis identified a total of three pairs of synteny relationships between NsCIPK genes. Each gene showed its own specific expression pattern across different tissues, with the overall expression of CIPK6 being the lowest, and that of CIPK20 being the highest. Almost all CIPK genes tended to respond to salt, drought, and cold stress, but with different sensitivity levels. In this study, we have provided a general description of the NsCIPK gene family and its expression, which will be of great significance for further understanding of the NsCIPK gene family function.

RESUMO

Nitraria sibirica is a shrub that can survive in extreme drought environments. The auxin-response factors (ARFs) are a class of transcription factors that are widely involved in plant growth and development, as well as in the regulation of stress resistance. However, the genome-wide identification of the ARF gene family and its responses to environmental stresses, especially drought stress, in N. sibirica has not yet been reported. Here, we identified a total of 12 ARF genes in the genome of N. sibirica, which were distributed over 10 chromosomes and divided into three clades. Intragenome synteny analysis revealed one collinear gene pair in the ARF gene family, i.e., NsARF9a and NsARF9b. Cis-acting element analysis showed that multiple hormones and stress-responsive cis-acting elements were found in the promoters of NsARFs, suggesting that NsARFs may be involved in multiple biological processes. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) showed that many NsARFs had tissue-specific expression patterns, with the highest expression of NsARF16 in the seedlings of N. sibirica. In addition, most of the NsARFs that were upregulated under drought were independent of endogenous ABA biosynthesis, whereas the response of NsARF5 and NsARF7a to drought was disrupted by the ABA-biosynthesis inhibitor fluridone. These studies provide a basis for further research into how NsARFs in N. sibirica respond to hormonal signaling and environmental stresses.

Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-spore-forming strains CCNWLXL 1-35T, CCNWLXL 12-2 and CCNWLXL 21-a, were isolated from wheat rhizosphere from Yangling, Shaanxi Province, China. Comparison of the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that they belonged to the genus Arthrobacter and were closely related to Arthrobacter globiformis NBRC 12137T (97.95% similarity). Genomic relatedness analyses based on the average nucleotide identity and the genome-to-genome distance showed these strains constituted a single species. The major fatty acids was anteiso-C15:0. The polar lipids consist of diphosphatidylglycerol, phsophatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol and glycolipid. The predominant menaquinone was MK-9. The peptidoglycan type was A4α. Thus, these strains were classified as representing a novel species in the genus Arthrobacter, for which the name Arthrobacter rhizosphaerae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CCNWLXL 1-35T (=JCM 34638T, =CCTCC AB 2021087T) and additional strains are CCNWLXL 12-2 (=JCM 35018, =CCTCC AB 2021546), CCNWLXL 21-a (=JCM 35019, =CCTCC AB 2021545).

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of Mudan granule on peripheral neuritis caused by chronic renal insufficiency (CRI). Methods: Sixty patients with peripheral neuritis caused by CRI treated in our hospital were included from February 2018 to April 2021 in this study. The patients were arbitrarily assigned into control group and study group. The former accepted routine treatment, while the latter accepted Mudan granule treatment. The clinical efficacy, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinical symptom score, nerve conduction velocity, hemorheology index, renal function index, and inflammatory factor index were compared. Results: We firstly compared the clinical efficacy: the study group was clinically cured in 22 cases, obviously effective in 5 cases, effective in 3 cases, and ineffective in 1 case, with a total effective rate of 96.67%. The control group was clinically cured in 9 cases, obviously effective in 8 cases, effective in 7 cases, and ineffective in 6 cases, with a total effective rate of 80.00%. The total effective rate of the study group was higher compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Secondly, we compared the TCM clinical symptom scores; before treatment, there exhibited no significant difference (P > 0.05); after treatment, the TCM clinical symptom scores decreased. The clinical symptom score of TCM in the study group was lower compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the nerve conduction velocity of left MCV, right MCV, left SCV, and right SCV in the study group were remarkably higher. In terms of the hemorheological indexes, the high-shear whole blood viscosity, low-shear whole blood viscosity, and plasma viscosity in the study group were lower compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there existed no significant difference in renal function indexes, but after treatment, the renal function indexes decreased, and the levels of serum creatinine (SCr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and uric acid (UA) in the study group were lower compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Finally, we compared the indexes of inflammatory factors; there existed no significant difference before treatment, but after treatment, the indexes of inflammatory factors decreased in both groups, and the levels of IL-6 and CRP in the study group were lower compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: For peripheral neuritis caused by CRI, Mudan granule can remarkably promote the clinical symptoms of TCM and reduce the syndrome score of TCM; moreover, it can remarkably increase the nerve conduction velocity of median nerve and common peroneal nerve and reduce blood viscosity, which is worth popularizing and developing in clinic.
