RESUMO

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) exhibit considerable potential in gas separations owing to their remarkable stability and tunable pore structures. Nevertheless, their application as gas separation membranes is hindered by limited size-sieving capabilities and poor processability. In this study, we propose a novel molecular weaving strategy that combines hydroxyl polymers and 2D TpPa-SO3H COF nanosheets, achieving high gas separation efficiency. Driven by the strong electrostatic interactions, the hydroxyl chains thread through the COF pores, effectively weaving and assembling the composites to achieve exceptional flexibility and high mechanical strength. The penetrated chains also reduce the effective pore size of COFs, and combined with the "secondary confinement effect" stemming from abundant CO2 sorption sites in the channels, the PVA@TpPa-SO3H membrane demonstrates a remarkable H2 permeance of 1267.3 GPU and an H2/CO2 selectivity of 43, surpassing the 2008 Robson upper bound limit. This facile strategy holds promise for the manufacture of large-area COF-based membranes for small-sized gas separations.

RESUMO

Fagao is one of China's traditional gluten-free staple foods made with rice or corn flour. Corn Fagao prepared by co-fermentation with sourdough and yeast exhibits better quality and less staling compared to traditional yeast-fermented Fagao. The physicochemical properties of corn Fagao batter during sourdough-yeast co-fermentation were investigated. The results showed that compared with yeast fermentation, the gas production and viscosity of the batter increased with co-fermentation. The co-fermented batter showed a higher hydrolysis of starch and less amylose content. The integrity of starch granules in the co-fermented batter was damaged more seriously, and the crystallinity and short-range ordered structure were less than in the yeast-fermented batter, even though the crystal structure type of starch did not obviously change. The peak viscosity, minimum viscosity, final viscosity, decay value, and recovery value of the corn batter were reduced by co-fermentation, which improved the thermal stability of the batter and slowed down the aging. Co-fermentation also resulted in a more pronounced reduction in protein subunit content than yeast fermentation. The changes in the physicochemical properties of the corn Fagao batter help explain the improvement in quality of corn Fagao made from the co-fermentation method and may provide theoretical references for co-fermentation with sourdough and yeast to other gluten-free foods.

RESUMO

Introduction: Sotorasib and adagrasib have been widely used for the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harboring Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) G12C mutation. It's necessary to assess their safety profiles in the real-world population. Methods: A retrospective pharmacovigilance was conducted to examine adverse events (AEs) associated with sotorasib and adagrasib therapies using the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). Disproportionality analysis was performed employing Venn analysis and four data-mining algorithms, including the reporting odds ratio (ROR), the proportional reporting ratio (PRR), the Bayesian confidence propagation neural network (BCPNN), and the multi-item gamma Poisson shrinker (MGPS). Results: The most commonly reported system organ classes (SOCs) for both adagrasib and sororasib were general, gastrointestinal, and investigations disorders. Notably, sotorasib exhibited significant signals for neoplasms and hepatobiliary disorders in four algorithms. Specifically, AEs related to neoplasms were predominantly associated with lung malignancies, all of which were consistent with the therapeutic indications of KRAS G12C mutation inhibitor. A total of 19 common AEs were identified in sotorasib and adagrasib, spanning gastrointestinal, general, hepatobiliary, investigations, metabolism, musculoskeletal, neoplasms, and respiratory disorders. 4 severe AEs (SAEs) were identified in sotorasib, with 3 SAEs displaying significant signals in four algorithms, including drug-induced liver injury, pancreatitis, and hepatic failure. In adagrasib, only 2 SAEs were detected, with renal failure showing significant signals in four algorithms. Conclusion: This study offers a comprehensive evaluation of the major safety signals associated with sotorasib and adagrasib, providing valuable information for clinicians regarding drug selection and safety considerations, thereby facilitating the design of future prospective safety studies.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Allostatic load (AL) is an index that manifests as cumulative wear and tear on multiple physiological systems resulting from repeated adaptation to stressors throughout the life course. Higher AL was found to be associated with increased risk of adverse health outcomes, but studies on functional disability among large Chinese older population were limited. We aimed to investigate the associations of AL with functional disability among Chinese older adults. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: This prospective cohort study included 5880 older adults who were at least 50 years old and participated in the CHARLS at baseline (2011 wave), with 3 follow-ups (2013, 2015 and 2018 waves). We selected 11 biomarkers from 4 physiological systems to construct AL. AL score was classified into three categories based on tertiles: 0-1 (low burden), 2-3 (medium burden) and 4-11 (high burden). Functional disability was assessed by activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). Multivariable logistic regression models examined the association between baseline AL, transitions of AL burden and incidence of functional disability. RESULTS: In cross-sectional analyses, medium and high AL burden were associated with an increased prevalence of ADL disability, while association was only significant between high AL burden and IADL disability. During the 7-year follow-up, 1102 and 1777 participants incident ADL disability and IADL disability, respectively. Those with medium and high AL burden had an increased risk of new-onset ADL disability than those with low AL burden ("medium": OR = 1.25, 95%CI = 1.01, 1.55; "high": OR = 1.69, 95%CI = 1.32, 2.18). As for IADL disability, association was only significant in "high" group (OR = 1.50, 95% CI = 1.24, 1.83). We also found keep medium/high AL burden in 2011 and 2015 was associated with new-onset ADL (OR = 2.27, 95%CI = 1.50, 3.44) and IADL disability (OR = 1.51, 95%CI = 1.11, 2.05) in 2018. CONCLUSION: These results show that higher AL predicts functional disability among Chinese older adults. Monitoring AL and paying close attention to those with medium/high AL burden may aid prevention of adverse health outcomes, thus giving a healthier ageing experience to a large proportion of the population.

RESUMO

Coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP) is a severe occupational disease resulting from prolonged exposure to coal dust. However, its pathogenesis remains elusive, compounded by a lack of early detection markers and effective treatments. Although the impact of gut microbiota on lung diseases is acknowledged, its specific role in CWP is unclear. This study aims to explore changes in the gut microbiome and metabolome in CWP, while also assessing the correlation between gut microbes and alterations in lung function. Fecal specimens from 43 CWP patients and 48 dust-exposed workers (DEW) were examined using 16S rRNA gene sequencing for microbiota and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for metabolite profiling. We observed similar gut microbial α-diversity but significant differences in flora composition (ß-diversity) between patients with CWP and the DEW group. After adjusting for age using multifactorial linear regression analysis (MaAsLin2), the distinct gut microbiome profile in CWP patients revealed an increased presence of pro-inflammatory microorganisms such as Klebsiella and Haemophilus. Furthermore, in CWP patients, alterations in gut microbiota-particularly reduced α-diversity and changes in microbial composition-were significantly correlated with impaired pulmonary function, a relationship not observed in DEW. This underscores the specific impact of gut microbiota on pulmonary health in individuals with CWP. Metabolomic analysis of fecal samples from CWP patients and DEW identified 218 differential metabolites between the two groups, with a predominant increase in metabolites in CWP patients, suggesting enhanced metabolic activity in CWP. Key altered metabolites included various lipids, amino acids, and organic compounds, with silibinin emerging as a potential biomarker. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis linked these metabolites to pathways relevant to the development of pulmonary fibrosis. Additionally, studies on the interaction between microbiota and metabolites showed positive correlations between certain bacteria and increased metabolites in CWP, further elucidating the complex interplay in this disease state. Our findings suggest a potential contributory role of gut microbiota in CWP pathogenesis through metabolic regulation, with implications for diagnostic biomarkers and understanding disease mechanisms, warranting further molecular investigation. IMPORTANCE: The findings have significant implications for the early diagnosis and treatment of coal workers' pneumoconiosis, highlighting the potential of gut microbiota as diagnostic biomarkers. They pave the way for new research into gut microbiota-based therapeutic strategies, potentially focusing on modifying gut microbiota to mitigate disease progression.

RESUMO

Acteoside (ACT) was the main bioactive components in phenylethanoid glycosides of Cistanche tubulosa. Currently, the development of an efficient method for selectively separating ACT was crucial. Consequently, yolk-shell magnetic mesoporous carbon (YSMMC) was synthesized as a nanofiller to prepare molecularly imprinted membranes (ACT-MIMs) with instant noodles-like structure for selectively separating ACT. The numerous YSMMC were moved to the upper surface of ACT-MIMs by magnetic guidance and constructed the instant noodles-like structure in ACT-MIMs. The instant noodle-like structure increased the surface roughness of ACT-MIMs, which was conducive to improving the effective imprinted interface, increasing the selectivity of ACT-MIMs. In addition, the instant noodle-like structure had dendritic interleaved pathways in ACT-MIMs. The dendritic interleaved pathways can intercept ACT through ACT-MIMs, enhancing the permselectivity of ACT-MIMs. The prepared YSMMC possessed the dendritic shell and interlayer cavity structure can provide a great accommodation space, improving the rebinding capacities of ACT-MIMs. The high permselectivity (14.49), remarkable selectivity (7.52), and excellent rebinding capacity (120.48 mg/g) were achieved for the prepared ACT-MIMs. Thus, the design of ACT-MIMs with the instant noodles-like structure were valuable for selectively separating of bioactive components.

RESUMO

Developing biodegradable polyurethane (PU) materials as an alternative to non-degradable petroleum-based PU is a crucial and challenging task. This study utilized lactide as the starting material to synthesize polylactide polyols (PLA-OH). PLA-based polyurethanes (PLA-PUs) were successfully synthesized by introducing PLA-OH into the PU molecular chain. A higher content of PLA-OH in the soft segments resulted in a substantial improvement in the mechanical attributes of the PLA-PUs. This study found that the addition of PLA-OH content significantly improved the tensile stress of the PU from 5.35 MPa to 37.15 MPa and increased the maximum elongation to 820.8%. Additionally, the modulus and toughness of the resulting PLA-PU were also significantly improved with increasing PLA-OH content. Specifically, the PLA-PU with 40% PLA-OH exhibited a high modulus of 33.45 MPa and a toughness of 147.18 MJ m-3. PLA-PU films can be degraded to carbon dioxide and water after 6 months in the soil. This highlights the potential of synthesizing PLA-PU using biomass-renewable polylactide, which is important in green and sustainable chemistry.

RESUMO

Within the global architecture, engineering, and construction industry, the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has significantly expanded. However, given the unique characteristics of road infrastructure, the application of BIM technology is still being explored. This article focuses on the Yuanchen Expressway, exploring innovative applications of BIM technology in comprehensive construction management. The project employs advanced technologies, including BIM, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and the Internet of Things (IoT), to precisely identify critical nodes and breakthroughs. Supported by a detailed BIM model and a multi-level, diversified digital management platform, the project effectively addresses construction challenges in multiple tunnels, bridges, and complex interchanges, achieving intelligent construction innovation throughout the Yuanchen Expressway with BIM technology. By guiding construction through BIM models, utilizing a BIM+GIS-based management cloud platform system, and employing VR safety briefings, the project effectively reduces the difficulty of communication and coordination in project management, shortens the project measurement cycle, improves on-site work efficiency, and ensures comprehensive control and safety management. This article provides an exemplary case for the application of full-line construction management using BIM technology in the highway sector both in China and globally, offering new perspectives and strategies for highway construction management.

RESUMO

Grafting as a crucial horticultural technique has been widely used in the cultivation of Carya cathayensis (Chinese hickory), which is a unique and important economic tree in the northeast of Zhejiang Province and the south of Anhui Province. However, the existing literature lacks research on the potential impact of various rootstocks on the thermal tolerance of Chinese hickory. The objectives of this study were to evaluate heat tolerance in four distinct groups of Chinese hickory, including C. cathayensis grafted onto Carya hunanensis and Carya illinoinensis, one self-grafted group (C. cathayensis grafted onto C. cathayensis), and one non-grafted group (C. cathayensis). We examined photosynthesis parameters, phytohormones, and differentially expressed genes in the four various hickory groups subjected to 25 °C, 35 °C, and 40 °C heat stress (HS). The results demonstrated that grafting onto C. hunanensis and C. illinoinensis exhibited a higher net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance, lower intercellular CO2 concentration, and smaller changes in plant hormone content compared to self-grafted and non-grafted group under HS. The transcriptome results revealed that the majority of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with photosynthetic pathways exhibited downregulation under HS, while the degree of variation in grafted groups using C. hunanensis and C. illinoinensis as rootstocks was comparatively lower than that observed in self-grafted and non-grafted groups. The alteration in the expression patterns of DEGs involved in plant hormone synthesis and metabolism under HS corresponded to changes in plant hormone contents. Overall, Chinese hickory grafted onto C. hunanensis and C. illinoinensis exhibited enhanced resistance to high-temperature stress at the juvenile stage.

RESUMO

Pancakes prepared with sorghum flour possess a high nutritional value, yet their quality is unstable and prone to degradation during storage. This instability can be attributed to the particle size of coarse cereal powder, which significantly influences the quality of flour products during storage. In this study, changes in the quality of these pancakes, prepared with varying particle sizes of sorghum flour, were meticulously analyzed during cold storage using advanced instruments such as a texture analyzer, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, differential scanning calorimeter, X-ray diffractometer, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. Findings revealed that the hardness of leavened pancakes significantly increased over time. After a refrigeration period of 7 days, the hardness of wheat flour leavened pancakes increased by 56.60%. However, with a decrease in the particle size of sorghum flour, the increase in hardness diminished, thereby delaying the aging process of the pancakes. As the storage duration was extended, moisture migration within the pancakes occurred, and the sorghum flour pancakes with a smaller particle size exhibited a reduced moisture change rate, indicating an enhanced water holding capacity. In comparison to their wheat flour counterparts, sorghum flour leavened pancakes exhibited a substantial reduction in retrogradation enthalpy and crystallinity. The inclusion of sorghum flour effectively inhibited amylopectin recrystallization, thus slowing down the aging process of the pancakes. This inhibitory effect was more evident with decreasing sorghum flour particle sizes. Fourier transform infrared data indicated no significant alterations in absorption peaks across various wavelengths during cold storage. Although starch short-range orderliness increased with storage time, the use of sorghum flour with smaller particles reduced the degree of short-range orderliness in starch molecules throughout the cold storage period. Sorghum flour with a smaller particle size can inhibit water migration and amylopectin recrystallization, which subsequently delays pancake aging and enhances its quality stability during storage.

RESUMO

Aluminum (Al) toxicity is an important factor restricting the normal growth of plants in acidic soil. Rhododendron (Ericaceae) can grow relatively well in acidic soil. To uncover the adaptive mechanisms of photosynthesis under Al stress, the influence of Al stress on the photosynthetic activities of Al-sensitive (Baijinpao) and Al-resistant (Kangnaixin) rhododendron cultivars was examined by measuring gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, and the modulated reflection of light at 820 nm. Under Al stress conditions, the net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance of the rhododendron leaves decreased, whereas the intercellular CO2 concentration increased. The Al stress treatment damaged the oxygen-evolving complex of the rhododendron seedlings, while also inhibiting electron transport on the photosystem II (PSII) donor side. In addition, the exposure to Al stress restricted the oxidation of plastocyanin (PC) and the photosystem I (PSI) reaction center (P700) and led to the re-reduction of PC+ and P700+. The comparison with Kangnaixin revealed an increase in the PSII connectivity in Baijinpao. Additionally, the donor-side electron transport efficiency was more inhibited and the overall activity of PSII, PSI, and the intersystem electron transport chain decreased more extensively in Baijinpao than in Kangnaixin. On the basis of the study findings, we concluded that Al stress adversely affects photosynthesis in rhododendron seedlings by significantly decreasing the activity of PSII and PSI. Under Al stress, Kangnaixin showed stronger tolerance compared with Baijinpao.

RESUMO

Incorporating passive radiative cooling and heating into personal thermal management has attracted tremendous attention. However, most current thermal management materials are usually monofunctional with a narrow temperature regulation range, and lack breathability, softness, and stretchability, resulting in a poor wearer experience and limited application scenarios. Herein, a breathable dual-mode leather-like nanotextile (LNT) with asymmetrical wrinkle photonic microstructures and Janus wettability for highly efficient personal thermal management is developed via a one-step electrospinning technique. The LNT is synthesized by self-bonding a hydrophilic cooling layer with welding fiber networks onto a hydrophobic photothermal layer, constructing bilayer wrinkle structures that offer remarkable optical properties, a wetting gradient, and unique textures. The resultant LNT exhibits efficient cooling capacity (22.0 °C) and heating capacity (22.1 °C) under sunlight, expanding the thermal management zone (28.3 °C wider than typical textiles). Additionally, it possesses favorable breathability, softness, stretchability, and sweat-wicking capability. Actual wearing tests demonstrate that the LNT can provide a comfortable microenvironment for the human body (1.6-8.0 °C cooler and 1.0-7.1 °C warmer than typical textiles) in changing weather conditions. Such a wearable dual-mode LNT presents great potential for personal thermal comfort and opens up new possibilities for all-weather smart clothing.

RESUMO

Therapeutic resistance represents a bottleneck to treatment in advanced gastric cancer (GC). Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of non-apoptotic cell death and is associated with anti-cancer therapeutic efficacy. Further investigations are required to clarify the underlying mechanisms. Ferroptosis-resistant GC cell lines are constructed. Dysregulated mRNAs between ferroptosis-resistant and parental cell lines are identified. The expression of SOX13/SCAF1 is manipulated in GC cell lines where relevant biological and molecular analyses are performed. Molecular docking and computational screening are performed to screen potential inhibitors of SOX13. We show that SOX13 boosts protein remodeling of electron transport chain (ETC) complexes by directly transactivating SCAF1. This leads to increased supercomplexes (SCs) assembly, mitochondrial respiration, mitochondrial energetics and chemo- and immune-resistance. Zanamivir, reverts the ferroptosis-resistant phenotype via directly targeting SOX13 and promoting TRIM25-mediated ubiquitination and degradation of SOX13. Here we show, SOX13/SCAF1 are important in ferroptosis-resistance, and targeting SOX13 with zanamivir has therapeutic potential.

RESUMO

In the present study, we attempted to use melatonin combined with germination treatment to remove pesticide residues from contaminated grains. High levels of pesticide residues were detected in soybean seeds after soaking with chlorothalonil (10 mM) and malathion (1 mM) for 2 hours. Treatment with 50 µM melatonin for 5 days completely removed the pesticide residues, while in the control group, only 61-71% of pesticide residues were removed from soybean sprouts. Compared with the control, melatonin treatment for 7 days further increased the content of ascorbic acid (by 48-66%), total phenolics (by 52-68%), isoflavones (by 22-34%), the total antioxidant capacity (by 37-40%), and the accumulated levels of unsaturated fatty acids (C18:1, C18:2, and C18:3) (by 17-30%) in soybean sprouts. Moreover, melatonin treatment further increased the accumulation of ten components of phenols and isoflavones in soybean sprouts relative to those in the control. The ability of melatonin to accelerate the degradation of pesticide residues and promote the accumulation of antioxidant metabolites might be related to its ability to trigger the glutathione detoxification system in soybean sprouts. Melatonin promoted glutathione synthesis (by 49-139%) and elevated the activities of glutathione-S-transferase (by 24-78%) and glutathione reductase (by 38-61%). In summary, we report a new method in which combined treatment by melatonin and germination rapidly degrades pesticide residues in contaminated grains and improves the nutritional quality of food.

RESUMO

Early monitoring of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is crucial for its treatment and prognosis. Hence, highly specific and sensitive detection method is urgently needed. In this study, we propose a novel herringbone microfluid chip with aptamer functionalized core-shell photonic crystal (PhC) barcode integration for high throughput multiplex CVD detection. Based on the PhC derived from co-assembled carboxylated single-wall carbon nanotubes and silicon dioxide nanoparticles, we obtain core-shell PhC barcodes by hydrogel replicating and partially etching. These core-shell PhC barcodes not only retain the original structural colors coding element, but also fully expose a large number of carboxyl elements in the ore for the probe immobilization. We further combine the functionalized barcodes with herringbone groove microfluidic chip to elucidate its acceptability in testing clinical sample. It is demonstrated that the special design of microfluidic chip can significantly enhance fluid vortex resistance and contact frequency, improving the sample capture efficiency and detection sensitivity. These features indicate that our core-shell PhC barcodes-integrated herringbone microfluidic system possesses great potential for multiplex biomarker detection in clinical application.

RESUMO

Over 1 year, two KPC-producing and two non-KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains were isolated from a patient. Genome and DNA hybridization analyses revealed the first three strains as a clonal lineage, with carbapenem resistance changes due to a Tn2-like transposon on an IncR/IncFII plasmid. The fourth strain, carrying three plasmids, caused a lethal infection and represented a different lineage. All strains belonged to the ST11-SL47-OL101 type. This study highlights the Tn2-like transposon's role in carbapenemase gene spread and the importance of distinguishing between bacterial colonization and infection.

RESUMO

The human gut microbiome plays a critical role in maintaining our health. Fluctuations in the diversity and structure of the gut microbiota have been implicated in the pathogenesis of several metabolic and inflammatory conditions. Dietary patterns, medication, smoking, alcohol consumption, and physical activity can all influence the abundance of different types of microbiota in the gut, which in turn can affect the health of individuals. Intestinal phages are an essential component of the gut microbiome, but most studies predominantly focus on the structure and dynamics of gut bacteria while neglecting the role of phages in shaping the gut microbiome. As bacteria-killing viruses, the distribution of bacteriophages in the intestine, their role in influencing the intestinal microbiota, and their mechanisms of action remain elusive. Herein, we present an overview of the current knowledge of gut phages, their lifestyles, identification, and potential impact on the gut microbiota.

RESUMO

Improving carbon productivity is of great significance to China's "30 · 60" carbon target, while the development of the digital economy is a driving force for green transformation. However, few studies discuss the relationship between the digital economy and carbon productivity. We investigate the influence of digital economic development on carbon productivity using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2020. Spatial econometric and moderating effects are considered. The results show that (i) digital economy has a positive direct and negative spatial spillover effect on carbon productivity, and this conclusion is still valid after the robustness test and endogeneity test; (ii) digital infrastructure has a greater impact on carbon productivity than digital industrialization and industrial digitalization; (iii) the mechanism analysis shows that environmental regulation negatively moderates the relationship between the digital economy and carbon productivity; (iv) heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect of the digital economy on carbon productivity is more obvious in the central region compared to the western region, while it is not significant in the eastern region. Overall, this paper not only provides a new analytical perspective for understanding the improvement of carbon productivity in the digital economy but also provides policy inspiration for promoting carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become an increasingly important public health disease with a high incidence rate and mortality. Although several studies have explored the effectiveness of resistance exercise in improving the prognosis of CKD patients, the number of studies is still limited and the results are still controversial. OBJECTIVES: We conducted this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCT) studies to evaluate the effectiveness of resistance exercise on CKD patients. METHODS: The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from the inception date to October 2023. The meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate 12 main indicators, including glomerular filtration rate (GFR)(ml/(min•1.73m2)), C-reactive protein (CRP) (mg/L), serum creatinine (mg/dL), hemoglobin (g/dL), Glycosylated Hemoglobin, Type A1C (HBA1c) (%), high Density Lipoprotein (HDL) (mg/dL), low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) (mg/dL), 6-min walk(m), body mass index (BMI) (kg/m2), fat-free mass (kg), fat mass (kg), grip strength (kgf). RESULTS: Sixteen RCT studies were included in this meta-analysis from 875 records. GFR exhibited no significant change in CKD patients treated with resistance exercise (WMD 1.82; 95%CI -0.59 to 4.23; P = 0.139). However, 6-min walk (WMD 89.93; 95%CI 50.12 to 129.74; P = 0.000), fat-free mass (WMD 6.53; 95%CI 1.14 to 11.93; P = 0.018) and grip strength (WMD 3.97; 95%CI 1.89 to 6.05; P = 0.000) were significantly improved with resistance exercise. The level of CRP (WMD - 2.46; 95%CI -4.21 to -0.72; P = 0.006) and HBA1c (WMD - 0.46; 95%CI -0.63 to -0.29; P = 0.000) dropped significantly after resistance exercise treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Resistance exercise can improve physical function, metabolic condition, inflammatory response and cardiopulmonary function in CKD patients, specifically reflected in the increase of indicators fat-free mass, grip strength, 6-min walk, as well as the decrease of indicators HBA1c and CRP.

RESUMO

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: We aimed to compare superb microvascular imaging (SMI)-based radiomics methods, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)-based radiomics methods to the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (ACR TI-RADS) for classifying thyroid nodules (TNs) and reducing unnecessary fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) rate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled a dataset of 472 pathologically confirmed TNs. Radiomics characteristics were extracted from B-mode ultrasound (BMUS), SMI, and CEUS images, respectively. After eliminating redundant features, four radiomics scores (Rad-scores) were constructed. Using multivariable logistic regression analysis, four radiomics prediction models incorporating Rad-score and corresponding US features were constructed and validated in terms of discrimination, calibration, decision curve analysis, and unnecessary FNAB rate. RESULTS: The diagnostic performance of the BMUS + SMI radiomics method was better than ACR TI-RADS (area under the curve [AUC]: 0.875 vs. 0.689 for the training cohort, 0.879 vs. 0.728 for the validation cohort) (P < 0.05), and comparable with BMUS + CEUS radiomics method (AUC: 0.875 vs. 0.878 for the training cohort, 0.879 vs. 0.865 for the validation cohort) (P > 0.05). Decision curve analysis showed that the BMUS+SMI radiomics method could achieve higher net benefits than the BMUS radiomics method and ACR TI-RADS when the threshold probability was between 0.13 and 0.88 in the entire cohort. When applying the BMUS+SMI radiomics method, the unnecessary FNAB rate reduced from 43.4% to 13.9% in the training cohort and from 45.6% to 18.0% in the validation cohorts in comparison to ACR TI-RADS. CONCLUSION: The dual-modal SMI-based radiomics method is convenient and economical and can be an alternative to the dual-modal CEUS-based radiomics method in helping radiologists select the optimal clinical strategy for TN management.
