Food protein carriers from different sources might have distinct stabilizing and enhancing effects on the same small molecule. To elucidate the molecular mechanism, five different sourced proteins including soy protein isolates (SPIs), whey protein isolates (WPIs), edible dock protein (EDP), Tenebrio molitor protein (TMP), and yeast protein (YP) were used to prepare protein hydrogels for delivering myricetin (Myr). The results suggested that the loading capacity order of Myr in different protein hydrogels was EDP (11.5%) > WPI (9.3%) > TMP (8.9%) > YP (8.0%) > SPI (7.6%), which was consistent with the sequence of binding affinity between Myr and different proteins. Among five protein hydrogels, EDP had an optimum loading ability since it possessed the highest hydrophobic amino acid content (45.52%) and thus provided a broad hydrophobic cavity for loading Myr. In addition, these protein-Myr composite hydrogels displayed the core-shell structure, wherein hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction were the primary binding forces between proteins and Myr. Moreover, the thermal stability, storage stability, and sustained-release properties of Myr were significantly enhanced via these protein delivery systems. These findings can provide scientific guidance for deeper utilization of food alternative protein sources.

The prostate is a vital accessory gonad in the mammalian male reproductive system. With the ever-increasing proportion of the population over 60 years of age worldwide, the incidence of prostate diseases, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer (PCa), is on the rise and is gradually becoming a significant medical problem globally. The notch signaling pathway is essential in regulating prostate early development. However, the potential regulatory mechanism of Notch signaling in prostatic enlargement and hyperplasia remains unclear. In this study, we proved that overactivation of Notch1 signaling in mouse prostatic epithelial cells (OEx) led to prostatic enlargement via enhancing proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis of prostatic epithelial cells. Further study showed that N1ICD/RBPJ directly up-regulated the androgen receptor (AR) and enhanced prostatic sensitivity to androgens. Hyper-proliferation was not found in orchidectomized OEx mice without androgen supply but was observed after Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) supplementation. Our data showed that the number of mitochondrion in prostatic epithelial cells of OEx mice was increased, but the mitochondrial function was impaired, and the essential activity of the mitochondrial respiratory electron transport chain was significantly weakened. Disordered mitochondrial number and metabolic function further resulted in excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Importantly, anti-oxidant N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) therapy could alleviate prostatic hyperplasia caused by the over-activation of Notch1 signaling. Furthermore, we observed the incremental Notch signaling activity in progenitor-like club cells in the scRNA-seq data set of human BPH patients. Moreover, the increased number of TROP2+ progenitors and Club cells was also confirmed in our OEx mice. In conclusion, our study revealed that over-activated Notch1 signaling induces prostatic enlargement by increasing androgen receptor sensitivity, disrupting cellular mitochondrial metabolism, increasing ROS, and a higher number of progenitor cells, all of which can be effectively rescued by NAC treatment.

To understand the role of microorganisms in litter decomposition and nutrient cycling in volcanic forest ecosystem, we conducted in-situ litterbag decomposition experiment and used Illumina MiSeq high-throughput sequencing to analyze the response of bacterial community structure and diversity during the decomposition of litters from Larix gmelinii, Betula platyphylla and Populus davidiana, the dominant tree species in volcanic lava plateau of Wudalianchi. The results showed that mass remaining percentage of litters of three species after 18-month decomposition was 63.9%-68.1%. Litter of B. platyphylla decomposed the fastest, with significant difference in N, C:N, and N:P before and after decomposition. The richness of bacterial species and diversity index differed significantly among the three litters. Proteobacteria, Actinomycetes, and Bacteroidetes were the dominant bacterial groups at the phylum level, while Rhizobium, Sphingomonas, and Pseudomonas were the dominant groups at the genus level, with significant difference among the three litters. After 18 months, the dominant bacterial groups in litter tended to be consistent with those in volcanic lava platform soil. In the volcanic forest ecosystem, bacterial diversity and community structure were mainly affected by P, C:N, and N:P in the litter.

Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent chronic inflammatory gynecological disease defined by the presence of endometrial glands and mesenchyme outside the uterine cavity, named ectopic endometrium. Recent studies showed that endometriosis is associated with hormone imbalance, inflammation and oxidative stress. As the main component of vanilla bean extract, vanillin is widely used as a flavoring agent in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. It is known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antitumor properties, but its therapeutic efficacy in endometriosis has not been studied. In this study, we evaluated the roles of vanillin in this disease using an induced endometriotic mouse model. The results showed that vanillin significantly inhibited the growth of endometrial lesions. Compared with the control group, the weight and volume of lesions were reduced considerably in the vanillin-treated group, showing its fantastic ability to inhibit cell proliferation and promote apoptosis. In addition, in the treatment group, mRNA expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines Tnfa, Infg, Il1b, and Il6 was reduced, the number of macrophages and neutrophils was decreased, and the NF-κB signaling pathway was inhibited, indicating that vanillin suppressed the inflammatory response in the ectopic endometrium. Besides, we found that the intensity of tissue reactive oxygen species (ROS) was significantly lower, and mitochondrial complex IV expression was reduced in the vanillin-treated group. Meanwhile, treatment of the immortalized human endometriotic epithelial cell line (11Z) with vanillin resulted in the downregulation of cyclin genes that drive the cell proliferation process, inhibited cell proliferation, promoted apoptosis, and downregulated the expression of LPS-induced inflammatory cytokines. Most importantly, our data showed that the vanillin treatment had only minimal effects on the eutopic endometrium with respect to the pregnancy process, indicating its safety to be used in treating endometriosis in adults. In conclusion, our data suggest that vanillin has potential therapeutic properties for endometriosis as a regulatory molecule of cell proliferation, apoptosis, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

In this study, chrysin (Chr), baicalein (Bai), apigenin (Api) and galangin (Gal) were selected as the representative flavonoids with different position of phenolic hydroxyl groups, and edible dock protein (EDP) was used as a material to construct delivery system. Subsequently, the molecular interactions and functional properties of flavonoids-loaded EDP nanomicelles were investigated. Results exhibited that hydrogen bond, hydrophobic interaction and van der Waals force were the main driving forces for self-assembly of flavonoids and EDP molecules. Meanwhile, this self-assembly remarkably enhance the storage and digestion stability of flavonoid compounds. Among four flavonoids, the order of loading ability was: Api > Gal > Bai > Chr. Herein, Api had a largest loading capacity (6.74%) because of its active phenolic hydroxyl group in ring B. These results suggested that the position of phenolic hydroxyl groups in flavonoids is a key factor to regulate its self-assembly with protein molecules.

As the largest gene family functioning in protein transport among human solute carriers, the SLC25 family (mitochondrial carrier family) can participate in development of cancer. However, a comprehensive exploration for the exactly roles of SLC family remains lacking. In the present study, a total of 15 functional SLC25 family genes were retrieved from all current publications. And multidimensional analyses were systematically performed based on the transcriptome and genome data of SLC25 family from a variety of online databases for their expression, immune cell infiltration, and cancer prognosis. Validation by qPCR and immunohistochemistry were further conducted for the expression of partial SLC25 family members in some tumor tissue. We found that the SLC25 family had strong correlation with immune cells, such as macrophages M2, CD8+ T cell, CD4+ T cell memory activated, and memory resting. Among them, SLC25A6 was most correlated with Macrophage M1 in uveal melanoma (r = -0.68, P = 1.9e - 0.5). Expression of mRNA level showed that SLC25A4 was downregulated in stomach adenocarcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma. SLC25A7 was highly expressed in stomach adenocarcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma. SLC25A23 was decreased in colon adenocarcinoma. qPCR and immunohistochemistry validation results were consistent with our bioinformatics prediction. SLC25A8 was associated with the prognosis of cancer. All these findings suggested that the SLC25 family might affects the immune microenvironment of the cancer and then had the potential to be predictive biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis as well as novel targets for individualized treatment of cancer.

Endometriosis is a chronic, inflammatory, estrogen-dependent gynecological disease characterized by the growth of endometrial stromal cells and glands outside the uterine cavity in response to hormones, which commonly occurs in reproductive-age women. Zearalenone (ZEA) is a toxic metabolite produced by Fusarium, which acts as estrogen activity because of the similarity of its structure to estrogen. In this study, we used an endometriosis mouse model: 15 days after ovariectomy, endometrial fragments were sutured on the pelvic wall, and exogenous estrogen was supplied using an estrogen-releasing silicone tube embedded subcutaneously. Mice were treated with different doses of ZEA by gavage for 21 days. The results show that ZEA significantly inhibited the growth of ectopic endometrium in a dose-dependent manner. The proliferation of cells decreased while apoptosis increased in the ectopic tissues of ZEA-treated mice compared to the vehicle group. The expression of estrogen receptor-α and its downstream targets MUC1 and p-AKT decreased, indicating an impaired estrogen signaling activity by ZEA treatment. In addition, the decreased expression of pro-inflammatory cytokine Tnf-α, Il-1ß, and Il-6, the lower number of macrophages and neutrophils cells, and the inhibited NF-κB signaling pathway suggest the inflammatory response in the ectopic endometrium was also suppressed by ZEA treatment. However, when the exogenous estrogen supply is removed, ZEA, in turn, plays an estrogen-like role that promotes cell proliferation in the ectopic endometrium. In summary, our data suggest ZEA acts as an antagonist in endometriotic tissue when estrogen is sufficient but turns to estrogenic activity in the absence of estrogen in the development of endometriosis. ZEA also inhibits ectopic tissue growth by inhibiting inflammatory response in the endometriosis model.

Atmospheric nitrogen deposition has a crucial impact on the structure and function of soil microorganisms of wetland ecosystems. Therefore, carrying out a study on the effects of soil carbon metabolism capacity has a great significance for the protection and utilization of wetland ecosystems. In this study, the effects of simulated nitrogen deposition on the carbon metabolic capacity of soil microorganisms in Calamagrostis angustifolia wetland for five consecutive years was investigated using Biolog-Eco technology. The results showed:① soil water content (SMC), pH, nitrate nitrogen (NO3-), ammonium nitrogen (NH4+), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and total nitrogen (TN) contents were significantly different (P<0.05) under different nitrogen deposition conditions. ② The average well color development (AWCD) values of soil microorganisms within different N depositions were in the order of CK (control)>HN (high nitrogen treatment)>LN (low nitrogen treatment). LN significantly reduced the Shannon diversity index of soil microorganisms, and HN significantly reduced the Pielou index of soil microorganisms (P<0.05). ③ LN significantly inhibited the intensity of the utilization of carbohydrates, alcohols, amines, and acids by soil microorganisms (P<0.05); HN significantly promoted the utilization of esters by microorganisms, but HN caused soil microorganisms to inhibit the carbon sources of carbohydrates, amines, and acids (P<0.05). ④ Redundancy analysis showed that NH4+, DOC, and pH were the main environmental factors affecting the functional diversity of soil microbial communities in Calamagrostis angustifolia wetland in the Sanjiang Plain. Long-term nitrogen deposition will lead to the reduction in soil microbial functional diversity; the microbial activity related to the utilization of carbon source substrates is also significantly reduced, and the ability of microorganisms to utilize a single carbon source substrate also changes.

Objective.To develop two combined clinical-radiomics models of pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) for the presence and characterization of non-calcified plaques on non-contrast CT scan.Approach.Altogether, 431 patients undergoing Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography from March 2019 to June 2021 who had complete data were enrolled, including 173 patients with non-calcified plaques of the right coronary artery(RCA) and 258 with no abnormality. PCAT was segmented around the proximal RCA on non-contrast CT scan (calcium score acquisition). Two best models were established by screening features and classifiers respectively using FeAture Explorer software. Model 1 distinguished normal coronary arteries from those with non-calcified plaques, and model 2 distinguished vulnerable plaques in non-calcified plaques. Performance was assessed by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC).Main results.4 and 9 features were selected for the establishment of the radiomics model respectively through Model 1 and 2. In the test group, the AUC values, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 0.833%, 78.3%, 80.8%, 76.6% and 0.7467%, 75.0%, 77.8%, 73.5%, respectively. The combined model including radiomics features and independent clinical factors yielded an AUC, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of 0.896%, 81.4%, 86.5%, 77.9% for model 1 and 0.752%, 75.0%, 77.8%, 73.5% for model 2.Significance.The combined clinical-radiomics models based on non-contrast CT images of PCAT had good diagnostic efficacy for non-calcified and vulnerable plaques.

Background: Here we carried out a panoramic analysis of the expression and prognosis of HSP110, HSP90, HSP70, and HSP60 families in 33 types of cancer, with the aim of deepening the systematic understanding of heat shock proteins (HSPs) in cancer. Materials and Methods: Next-generation sequencing data of multiple tumors were downloaded from TCGA, CCLE and Oncomine databases. RStudio 3.6.1 was used to analyze HSP110, HSP90, HSP70 and HSP60 families based on their expression in 33 types of cancer. The validations in vivo (stomach adenocarcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma tissues) were performed by qRT-PCR. Results: HSPs were differentially expressed in different cancers. The results revealed mainly positive correlations among the expressions of HSPs in different cancers. Expressions of HSP family members were generally associated with poor prognosis in respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive system tumors and associated with good prognosis in cholangiocarcinoma, pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma. TCGA mutation analysis showed that HSP gene mutation rate in cancers was 0-23%. CCLE mutation analysis indicated that HSP gene mutation rate in 828 cell lines from 15 tumors was 0-17%. CNV analysis revealed that HSPs have different degrees of gene amplifications and deletions in cancers. Gene mutations of 15 HSPs influenced their protein expressions in different cancers. Copy number amplifications and deletions of 22 HSPs also impacted protein expression levels in pan-cancer. HSP gene mutation was generally a poor prognosis factor in cancers, except for uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma. CNVs in 14 HSPs showed varying influences on survival status in different cancers. HSPs may be involved in the activation and inhibition of multiple cancer-related pathways. HSP expressions were closely correlated with 22 immune cell infiltrations in different cancers. The qRT-PCR validation results in vivo showed that HSPA2 was down-regulated in stomach adenocarcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma; HSPA7 and HSPA1A also were down-regulated in colon adenocarcinoma. HSPA2-HSPA7 (r = 0.031, p = 0.009) and HSPA1A-HSPA7 (r = 0.516, p < 0.001) were positive correlation in colon adenocarcinoma. Conclusion: These analysis and validation results show that HSP families play an important role in the occurrence and development of various tumors and are potential tumor diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers as well as anti-cancer therapeutic targets.

Fibrosis is a pathological process characterized by abnormal activation of fibroblasts with increased synthesis of extracellular matrix components, including collagens. It may lead to loss of proper tissue architecture and organ function in clinical diseases such as systemic sclerosis and liver fibrosis. Excess accumulation of collagens is considered the primary indicator of fibrosis. Notch signaling has been reported to be involved in the fibrosis of many different organs, including the liver. Our previous study showed that the uterine-specific over-activation of canonical Notch1 signaling in the mouse uterus (Pgrcre/+ Rosa26N1ICD/+ , OEx) results in complete infertility as a consequence of multiple developmental and physiological defects, together with increased collagen accumulation evidenced by Masson's staining. In this study, we further detected expressions of all 44 collagen genes in these Notch1 gain-of-function transgenic mice and found that 18 collagens have been largely affected. In another aspect, using an intrauterine adhesion model (IUA), we mimicked fibrosis in the mouse uterine. The results suggested that Notch receptors were upregulated only 3 days after induction, and most of the fibril-forming collagen began to upregulate 6 days after the surgery. Furthermore, when induced IUA in the N1ICD-OEx mice, the expression of collagens and fibrosis levels were significantly enhanced. At last, as a Notch signaling inhibitor, the γ-secretase inhibitor N-[N-(3,5-difl uorophenacetyl)-L-alanyl]-S-phenylglycine t-butyl ester (DAPT) pretreatment could alleviate the expression of collagens and the symptoms of fibrosis. These results demonstrate that Notch signaling may play a role in upregulating collagens expression in endometrial fibrosis and might be a potential target of fibrosis therapy in the endometrium.

BACKGROUND: This study examines the association between socioeconomic and lifestyle factors and the prevalence of hypertension among elderly individuals in rural Southwest China. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey of 4833 consenting adults aged ≥ 60 years in rural regions of Yunnan Province, China, was conducted in 2017. Data on individual socioeconomic status, sleep quality, physical activity level, and family history of hypertension were collected with a standardized questionnaire. Blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, height, weight, and waist circumference were also measured. An individual socioeconomic position (SEP) index was constructed using principal component analysis. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was applied to analyse the association between socioeconomic and lifestyle factors and the prevalence of hypertension. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of hypertension was 50.6% in the study population. Body fat distribution, including measures of obesity and central obesity, had the greatest total effect on hypertension (0.21), followed by family history of hypertension (0.14), biological sex (0.08), sleep quality (- 0.07), SEP (- 0.06), physical inactivity (0.06), and diabetes (0.06). Body fat distribution, SEP, and family history of hypertension had both direct and indirect effects on hypertension, whereas physical inactivity, diabetes, and sleep quality were directly associated with the prevalence of hypertension. Biological sex was indirectly associated with the prevalence of hypertension. CONCLUSIONS: SEP, body fat distribution, physical inactivity, diabetes, and sleep quality critically influence the prevalence of hypertension. Future interventions to prevent and control hypertension should give increased attention to individuals with low SEP and should focus on controlling diabetes and obesity, increasing physical activity levels, and improving quality of sleep among older adults aged ≥ 60 years in rural Southwest China.

The infections caused by Herpes simplex viruses (HSV-1 and -2) are seriously endangering the health of all human beings. Once infected with these two viruses, it will cause life-long latency in the host, and the continuous recurrence of the infection will seriously affect the quality of life. Moreover, infections with HSV-1 and HSV-2 have been reported to make the body susceptible to other diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and HIV. Thus, more attention should be paid to the development of novel anti-HSV drugs. Polysaccharides obtained from medicinal plants and microorganism (both land and sea) are reported to be promising anti-herpes substances. However, their antiviral mechanisms are complex and diverse, which includes direct inhibition of virus life cycle (Adsorption, penetration, genetic material and protein synthesis) and indirectly through improving the body's immunity. And each step of the research processes from extraction to structural analysis contributes to the result in terms of antiviral activity. Therefore, The complex mechanisms involved in the treatment of Herpes simplex infections makes development of new antiviral compounds is difficult. In this paper, the mechanisms of polysaccharides in the treatment of Herpes simplex infections, the research processes of polysaccharides and their potential clinical applications were reviewed.

To understand the response of Calamagrostis angustifolia wetland of the Sanjiang Plain to changes in snow cover, we examined the greenhouse gases emission flux of the removed snow treatment (0 cm, RS), the added snow treatment (50 cm, AS) and the control (20 cm, CK) of a C. angustifolia wetland, and their relations with environmental factors with the method of the static chamber-gas chromatography. The results showed that soil temperature, soil water content, and carbon emissions were lowest during the snow-covering period under all treatments, and gradually increased with time. With the increases of time and snow thickness, soil temperature was rised and the difference of three treatments gradually was decreased. Soil water content of RS was always lower than that of CK and AS. AS and CK could promote soil CO2 emission compared with RS during and after snowmelt. The soil cumulative CH4 emissions differed little among the treatments. There was significant correlation between soil temperature and cumulative CO2 and CH4 emissions. With the increases of soil temperature, soil cumulative CO2 emission continued to increase and soil cumulative CH4 emission decreased firstly and then increased rapidly. Soil water content was significantly correlated with cumulative CO2 and CH4 emissions. As the soil moisture increased, the cumulative soil CO2 emission gradually increased, reaching a certain threshold and then flattening, while soil cumulative CH4 emission continuously increased.

BACKGROUND: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major and growing cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. However, there remains a limited understanding of the association between individual socioeconomic status (SES) and COPD diagnosis and treatment worldwide, including in China. This study investigates socioeconomic variations in prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment of COPD in rural China. METHODS: The present study employed a cross-sectional survey design. The study population was composed of Han majority as well as Na Xi and Bai ethnic minority individuals 35 years of age and older living in Yunnan Province from 2017 to 2019. In total, 7534 individuals consented to participate in the study and complete a structured interview as well as a post-bronchodilator spirometry test. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the association between individual socioeconomic status variables and the prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment of COPD. RESULTS: The age-standardized prevalence of COPD in the present study was 14.3%. Prevalence differed by gender: prevalence for men was 17.1%, versus 11.4% for women (P = 0.0001). Overall, levels of diagnosis and treatment of COPD for participants with COPD were 24.2 and 23.1%, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression indicated that higher educational levels and good access to medical services was associated with an overall lower risk of COPD (P = 0.032 vs. P = 0.018) as well as a higher probability of COPD diagnosis among those with COPD (P = 0.0001 vs. P = 0.002). Participants with COPD with higher educational levels (P = 0.0001) and higher annual household incomes (P = 0.0001) as well as good access to medical services (P = 0.016) were more likely to receive COPD medications and treatment than their counterparts. While Na Xi and Bai participants had a higher probability of having COPD (P = 0.0001), they had a lower probability of having received a diagnosis or treatment for COPD than Han participants (P = 0.0001 vs. P = 0.0012). CONCLUSIONS: Future interventions to further control COPD and improve diagnosis and treatment should focus on ethnic minority communities, and those with low education levels, low annual household incomes, and poor access to medical services.

We prepared octreotide (OCT)-modified curcumin plus docetaxel micelles to enhance active targeting and inhibit tumor metastasis by destroying vasculogenic mimicry (VM) channels. Soluplus was applied as an amphiphilic material to form micelles via film dispersion. The cytotoxic effects, active cellular targeting, and inhibitory effects on metastasis were systematically evaluated in vitro using A549 cells, and in vivo antitumor effects were evaluated using xenograft tumor-bearing mice. In vitro assays indicated that the OCT-modified curcumin plus docetaxel micelles showed robust cytotoxicity on A549 cells and effectively inhibited VM channels and tumor metastasis. Studying the mechanism of action indicated that OCT-modified curcumin plus docetaxel micelles downregulated MMP-2 and HIF-1α. In vivo assays indicated that OCT-modified curcumin plus docetaxel micelles increased drug accumulation at tumor sites and showed obvious antitumor efficacy. The developed OCT-modified curcumin plus docetaxel micelles may offer a promising treatment strategy for non-small-cell lung cancer.

The relationship between the levels of renalase and changes in proteinuria, hypertension, renal function, renal tubular epithelial cell apoptosis and B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) expression was investigated in patients (chronic nephritis, primary nephrotic syndrome or other kidney disease) that underwent renal biopsy. The study group comprised 72 patients undergoing renal biopsy. Patient profiles and renal function were collected. Concentrations of renalase and Bcl-2 were measured by immunohistochemistry. Tubular injury was detected by periodic acid Schiff staining (PAS) and renal tubular epithelial cell apoptosis was assessed by TUNEL assay. The expression of renalase was significantly lower in renal biopsy specimens than in normal kidney tissues. There was a positive linear relationship between renalase and some serum and cardiac indices; a negative correlation was found between age, eGFR, Ccr and 24-h urinary protein. Renal tubule injury index and tubular epithelial cell apoptosis index showed a negative linear correlation with renalase. The results showed that renalase probably increased the expression of Bcl-2. By two independent samples t-test, renalase levels were significantly increased in the non-hypertension group than in the hypertension group. One-way ANOVA showed that renalase expression was higher in samples with Lee's grade III than in those with Lee's grade V. The expression of renalase was significantly decreased in patients who underwent renal biopsy, and was also associated with blood and renal function. The research proved that renalase may reduce renal tubular injury and apoptosis of renal tubular epithelial cells through the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway, finally achieving the purpose of delaying the progress of renal failure.

The heterotrophic-autotrophic reactor including two chambers, that is, the lower part of the heterotrophic zone and the upper part of the autotrophic zone, was used to remove highly concentrated perchlorate (ClO4-) wastewater. The reduction characteristics of ClO4- and the effluent sulfur (SO42-) concentration were investigated using different influent ClO4- concentrations and C/Cl ratios. By adjusting the influent C/Cl ratio from 2 to 1, the reactor was started up successfully within 36 d. The microorganisms tolerated the high concentration of ClO4- (250-400 mg·L-1) and the ClO4- removal efficiency was higher than 95%. By adjusting the C/Cl ratio to 1.2, the ClO4- load in the autotrophic zone was reduced and the SO42- concentration in the effluent was controlled below 250 mg·L-1. The result show that tryptophan and tyrosine materials in soluble microbial products led to the TOC increase in the effluent of the autotrophic zone. The sludge yield was reduced because of heterotrophic and autotrophic processes. The alkalinity produced by the heterotrophic process was used as carbon source for the autotrophic process and to neutralize the acidity produced by the autotrophic process, representing the complementary function and avoiding the addition of alkalinity in the autotrophic process.

To understand the wetland soil fungal community structure and diversity in different degeneration Deyeuxia angustifolia wetlands, the topsoil (0-20) of three different degeneration D. angustifolia wetlands were collected in the Sanjiang Plain field experiment station of the Institute of Nature and Ecology, Heilongjiang Academy of Sciences. The distribution and variation of soil fungal diversity were assessed by high-throughput sequencing method. The results showed that Shannon-Wiener index increased from marsh Deyeuxia angustifolia wetland marsh meadow Deyeuxia angustifolia wetland meadow Deyeuxia angustifolia wetland. Sequence blast showed that the fungal taxonomy belonged to Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, Chytridiomycota, Fungi_unclassified, Zygomycota, which dominant fungi were Fungi_unclassified (75.12%),Ascomycetes (56. 56%), Basidiomycetes (72.65%) in the three degeneration wetlands, respectively. The fungal structure compositions and diversities of marsh meadow Deyeuxia angustifolia wetland and meadow Deyeuxia angustifolia wetland were similar according to Heatmap analysis. The fungal community structure was influenced by soil nutrients (explained 88.62%) and plant composition (explained 9.85%) through the Variation partition analysis (VPA). In conclusion, the fungal community structure was significantly different, which was influenced by soil water content, in different degeneration Deyeuxia angustifolia wetlands in Sanjiang plain. The results may supply scientific basis for studying fungal diversity and spatial heterogeneity in degeneration wetlands.
