RESUMO

The current luminescent bacteria test for acute toxicity with short contact time was invalid for antibiotics, and the non-uniformed contact times reported in the literature for long-term toxicity assessment led to incomparable results. Herein, a representative long-term toxicity assessment method was established which unified the contact time of antibiotics and Vibrio fischeri within the bioluminescence increasing period (i.e. 10-100% maximum luminescence) of control samples. The effects of excitation and detoxification of antibiotics such as ß-lactams were discovered. Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of toxic antibiotics (0.00069-0.061 mmol/L) obtained by this method was 2-3 orders of magnitude lower than acute test, quantifying the underestimated toxicity. As antibiotics exist in natural water as mixtures, an equivalent concentration addition (ECA) model was built to predict mixture toxicity based on physical mechanism rather than mathematical method, which showed great fitting results (R2 = 0.94). Furthermore, interaction among antibiotics was investigated. Antibiotics acting during bacterial breeding period had strong synergistic inhibition (IC50 relative deviation from 0.1 to 0.6) such as macrolides and quinolones. Some antibiotics produced increasing synergistic inhibition during concentration accumulation, such as macrolides. The discharge of antibiotics with severe long-term toxicity and strong synergistic inhibition effect should be seriously restricted.

The effects of C=C, ester and ß-H groups on the ionization potential (IP) and electron affinity (EA) of molecules in natural ester insulation oil were investigated by density functional theory (DFT). The major contribution to the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) comes from the carbon atoms adjacent to C=C. Thus, the IPs of triglycerides decrease as the number of C=C double bonds increases. The C=C in alkanes may also lower the IP. However, the ß-H in triglycerides has little effect on the IP, and C=C and ß-H have only a small effect on the EAs of the triglycerides because of the major contributions of atoms near the ester group in triglycerides to the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO). This study calculated the IPs of 53 kinds of molecules in FR3, which are significantly lower compared with those of molecules in mineral oil (MO) and trimethylolpropane triester without C=C. However, the lightning impulse breakdown voltage (LI Vb) of trimethylolpropane triester is still significantly lower than that of MO at the large gap. Therefore, the transition from slow to fast streamers under low lighting impulse voltage is determined by the ester group rather than by C=C and ß-H. The ester group may attract more electrons, impacting itself more compared to alkane in MO and facilitating the transition from slow to fast streamers.

The eco-friendly vegetable liquid is increasingly used because of the growing demand for environmentally friendly dielectric liquid. A vegetable liquid/fullerene nanofluid was fabricated via ultrasonic processing with good dispersion of the fullerene nanoparticles. It was observed that a small amount of fullerene (~100 mg/L) can significantly improve the electrical properties of vegetable insulating liquid (dissipation factor decreased by 20.1%, volume resistivity increased by 23.3%, and Alternating Current (AC) dielectric breakdown strength increased by 8.6%). Meanwhile, the trace amount of fullerene is also able to improve the electrical performances (i.e., dissipation factor and electrical resistivity) of the vegetable nanofluid under harsh conditions of long-term thermal aging compared with the blank contrast. The reduced acid values (25%) and dissolved decomposition gases (58.2% for hydrogen) in the aged vegetable nanofluid indicate the inhibition of molecule decomposition of vegetable liquid with fullerene. The improved electrical performances and thermal resistance of the vegetable nanofluid contribute to the electron affinity of fullerene proved by calculation of electron density distribution on the surface. The thermogravimetric analysis of the nanofluid under different atmospheres interprets that the oxygen absorbed inevitably in the fullerene contributes to the performance deterioration of the nanofluids during the initial aging. This work provides a potential method towards eco-friendly dielectric liquid with great electrical performances for harsh environments.
