RESUMO

Background and aim: Basic differentiation between an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-type colitis and a non-IBD type of colitis is the essential histological pre-requisite before further subclassifications are made. The combination of mucosal prominent eosinophilic cell infiltrate along with basal plasmacytosis is supposed to be a useful histological feature that can differentiate between IBD-type and non-IBD-type colitis. Hence, this systematic review and metaanalysis aimed to assess the reliability of mucosal basal plasmacytosis and eosinophilia for histological differentiation of IBD-type versus non-IBD-type colitis. Methods: We searched the PROSPERO, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus from January 1, 2000 to July 30, 2022 for all types of studies (prospective, cross-sectional, or retrospective studies) having histological features (including mucosal basal plasmacytosis, eosinophilia, and neutrophilic infiltration) in IBD and/or non-IBD colitis cases. Two reviewers extracted data, which were aggregated using random-effects models. Results: The 59 selected articles were evaluated for the predecided parameters. Both basal plasmacytosis and lamina propria plasmacytosis did not show any significant correlation between IBD-type and non-IBD-type colitis. The proportions for basal plasmacytosis with 95% CI were 0.50 (0.19-0.82) in IBD-type colitis and 0.46 (0.40-0.52) in non-IBD-type colitis, with a P value of .79. The proportion of lamina propria plasmacytosis with 95% CI was 0.67 (0.42-0.92) in IBD and 0.60 (0.35-0.85) in non-IBD-type colitis, with a P value being .7. Conclusions: This systematic review documented the dearth of published data on key histological features such as basal plasmacytosis and mucosal eosinophilia which are believed to differentiate between IBD-type and non-IBD-type colitis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Since the onset of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, there has been a significant opportunity to leverage virtual platforms for communication and dissemination of knowledge. An online survey was conducted to examine the viewpoints of World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) leaders concerning the necessity, primary priority areas, and implementation strategies for a virtual global gastroenterology educational program. METHODS: We conducted a survey of leaders of WGO member societies to assess their opinions on creating opportunities for global education using virtual platforms, identifying practical implementation steps and priority educational areas. RESULTS: Responses were obtained from 57/117 (48.7%) contacted leaders with 56/57 (98.2%) identifying such a need. Five mutually exclusive priority educational topics were proposed in the survey: clinical gastroenterology, endoscopy, nutritional support, research methodology, and professional development. Overall, most participants prioritized clinical gastroenterology (45/57; 78.9%) and endoscopy/hand skills (27/57; 47.3%) as educational topics to be addressed by the virtual global gastroenterology educational program. A majority of WGO member society leaders surveyed favored monthly teaching activities (33/57; 57.8%), ideally carried out between 1500-2100 local time (31/57; 54.3%), ideally with no administrative fees (47/57; 82.4%). CONCLUSIONS: This truly global survey of WGO member societies achieved a good response rate and provides important insights into the need for and scope of future virtual education programs under the aegis of the WGO.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Life-long adherence to gluten-free diet (GFD) and its assessment is essential for patients with celiac disease (CeD). We have developed and validated a tool for assessing adherence to GFD which can be used by both physicians and dietitians. METHODS: Phase 1: Development, content validation, and assessment of reliability of tool. Phase 2: Validation of tool against standard dietary evaluation (SDE) (gold standard), immunoglobulin A - anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA anti-tTG Ab), and gluten immunogenic peptides in urine. Overall, 380 biopsy-confirmed patients with CeD (derivation cohort: n = 100 [phase 1], n = 210 [phase 2] and independent validation cohort, n = 70) were recruited. RESULTS: Of an initial 90-point questionnaire, 84 items (Celiac Disease: Compliance Assessment Test [CD-CAT.v1]) were retained after content validation and pilot testing. In phase 1, upon administering CD-CAT.v1 on 100 patients, a comprehensive 35-item tool (CD-CAT.v2; α = 0.86) was obtained after removing items with low test-retest reliability and item-rest correlation values. In phase 2, upon administering CD-CAT.v2 on 210 patients, 22 items were removed having low correlation values (R < 0.4) with SDE. Finally, a 13-item tool (CD-CAT.v3; α = 0.84) was obtained with high criterion validity with SDE ( r = 0.806, P < 0.001), moderate convergent validity with celiac disease adherence test ( r = 0.602, P = 0.007), and moderate to weak correlation with urine gluten immunogenic peptides ( r = 0.46, P = 0.001) and IgA anti-tTG Ab ( r = 0.39, P = 0.008), respectively. The final 13-item tool also strongly correlated with SDE ( r = 0.78, P < 0.001) in an independent validation cohort of 70 patients with CeD. Principal component analysis identified 3 relevant subscales with a cumulative variance of 62%. The sensitivity and specificity of CD-CAT.v3 were 80% and 91%, respectively, with an area under curve of 0.905 with SDE. The obtained cutoff score of <19 from the receiver operating characteristic curve was further categorized as 13 = excellent, 14-18 = very good, 19-28 = average, and >28 = poor adherence to GFD. DISCUSSION: CD-CAT is a new and rapid tool for monitoring dietary adherence to GFD with high sensitivity and specificity, which can be administered by both physicians and dietitians.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Overall, 30-40% patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis [ASUC] fail intravenous [IV] steroids, requiring medical rescue therapy/colectomy. Low baseline albumin predicts steroid non-response, and exclusive enteral nutrition [EEN] has been shown to improve steroid response and albumin levels. Albumin infusion, due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, might further improve steroid response in ASUC, which was evaluated in the present study. METHODS: In this open-label, randomised, controlled trial, patients with ASUC were randomised in 1:1 ratio to either albumin + standard of care [SOC] + EEN [Albumin arm] or SOC + EEN [SOC arm], over January 2021-February 2023. Both arms received 5 days of EEN with 400 mg IV hydrocortisone/day. Patients in the Albumin arm were administered 5 days of 20% weight/volume [w/v] intravenous albumin [100 ml]. Primary outcome was first, steroid failure [need for rescue medical therapy or colectomy] and second, proportion of patients with adverse events. RESULTS: In all, 61 patients [albumin: 30, SOC: 31][mean age 31.6 ±â€…0.4 years, male 57.4%], were included. Baseline characteristics were comparable. There was no difference in steroid failure between Albumin and SOC arms (10/30 [33.33%] vs 13/31[41.94%], p = 0.49). No adverse events were reported with albumin infusions. Colectomy rate [10% vs 9.68%, p = 1], response to salvage medical therapy [88.89% vs 76.92%, p = 0.62] and median [interquartile range] duration of hospitalisation [10.5 [7-16] vs 10 [7-20], p = 0.43] were also comparable. The long-term composite outcome of colectomy and re-admission rates was numerically higher in the Albumin than the SOC arm [37.04% vs 17.86%, p > 0.05], although this did not reach statistical significance. CONCLUSION: There was no benefit of intravenous albumin infusion as an adjunct to IV steroids and EEN in patients with ASUC.

RESUMO

Background and objective Achalasia cardia is a primary esophageal motility disorder, and the etiopathology of this disease's progression is not known. Moreover, autonomic dysfunction has not been studied in different types of achalasia. In light of this, we aimed to address this lack of data in this study. Methods The diagnosis of achalasia was done using high-resolution esophageal manometry (HRM)-based Chicago classification v4.0. Autonomic function tests (AFT) such as the head-up tilt test, deep breathing test (DBT), Valsalva maneuver (VM), handgrip test (HGT), and cold pressor test (CPT), as well as the heart rate variability (HRV) test, were performed among the cohort and the results were compared with those of 39 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Results AFT and HRV tests were done on 62 patients (30 achalasia type I, 28 type II, and 4 type III) and compared with 39 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. The mean duration of symptoms, high Eckardt score, and dysphagia were most common in type I achalasia, followed by type II and III. The results of AFT showed a generalized loss of parasympathetic and baroreflex-independent sympathetic reactivity in all types of achalasia. However, baroreflex-dependent cardiovascular adrenergic reactivity was normal. Regarding cardiac autonomic tone, there was a loss of parasympathetic and sympathetic influence, but sympathovagal balance was maintained. The severity of the loss of autonomic functions was higher in type I, followed by type II. Conclusions In all types of achalasia, parasympathetic reactivity, baroreflex-independent sympathetic reactivity, and cardiac autonomic tone were lower compared to healthy controls, and the severity of dysfunction increased during the progression of the disease from type II to type I.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Facebook (FB) is the most popular online networking platform. Many celiac disease Facebook (CD-FB) pages spread awareness about celiac disease (CD). To get the latest information, patients with CD frequently follow such pages. However, little is known about whether such pages provide authentic and reliable information. AIMS: This study aims to investigate whether CD-FB pages spread misleading information to patients with CD. METHODS: On the Facebook social networking platform, CD-FB pages created in three celiac-prevalent countries (Italy, the USA, and India) were explored using different combinations of keywords. The type/category of the CD-FB page, country of origin, purpose, page web link, and number of followers/members were documented in a Microsoft spreadsheet. All posts distributed on selected CD-FB pages in the last 3 years were thoroughly screened. RESULTS: From August 2022 to March 2023, a total of 200 CD-FB pages from Italy, the USA, and India were explored. Out of these 200 pages, 155 CD-FB (Italy 70; the USA 46; India 39) were found eligible. Of them, 20 (13%) CD-FB pages (Italy 4; the USA 5; India 11) shared misleading information about CD. Surprisingly, 11 (8%) of these 20 pages (Italy 0; the USA 2; India 9) supported alternative treatment options for CD. CONCLUSIONS: CD-FB pages are useful for disseminating celiac-disease-related information. While most such pages provide useful information, 13% of CD-FB pages allow misleading information. Patients with CD should consult their treating unit before following any uncertain information posted on CD-FB pages.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Nutritional quality of gluten-free (GF) food products is very important, as patients with celiac disease consume these products for lifelong. There is paucity of data on the nutritional content and cost of GF food products compared with their gluten-containing (GC) counterparts from India (Asia). DESIGN: After a detailed market survey, packaged and labeled GF food products (n=485) and their packaged GC counterparts (n=790) from the supermarkets of Delhi (India) and e-commerce websites were included. Nutritional content and cost/100 g food (in US dollars) were calculated using the information on food label. RESULTS: Gluten-free food products were 232% (range: 118% to 376%) more expensive than their GC counterparts. Energy content of all GF food products was similar to their GC counterparts, except cereal-based snacks (GF: 445 kcal vs. GC: 510 kcal, p<0.001). The protein content was significantly lower in GF pasta and macaroni products (single-grain: GF: 6.5 g vs. GC:11. 5 g, p-0.002; multigrain: GF:7.6 g vs. GC:11.5 g, p-0.027), cereal flours (single-grain: GF: 7.6 g vs. GC: 12.3 g, p<0.001; multigrain: GF:10.9 g vs. GC: 14.1 g, p-0.009) and nutritional bars (GF: 21.81 g vs. GC:26 g, p-0.028) than their GC counterparts. Similarly, the dietary-fiber content of GF pasta and macaroni products, cereal flours, cereal premix and nutritional bars of GF foods was significantly lower than their GC counterparts. Gluten-free bread and confectionary items, biscuits and cookies and snacks had higher total fats and trans-fat content than their GC counterparts. Gluten-free cereal-based snacks had higher sodium content than their GC counterparts (GF: 820 mg vs. GC:670 mg; p<0.001). CONCLUSION: GF foods are significantly more expensive, contain less protein and dietary fiber and higher fat, trans-fat and sodium than their GC counterparts. Strategies must be developed to reduce the cost and improve the nutritional profile of GF foods.

RESUMO

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is rapidly emerging in the Asia Pacific region. However, there are many challenges in the diagnosis and management of this condition. The Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE) Working Group on IBD conducted a round table meeting to identify 10 common mistakes in the management of IBD in Asia. To summarize, many physicians still over rely on a definitive histological diagnosis before starting treatment and do not fully establish disease extent such as perianal and proximal gastrointestinal involvement in Crohn's disease (CD) or extent of involvement in ulcerative colitis (UC). It is also essential to actively look for evidence of extra-intestinal manifestations, which may influence choice of therapy. In terms of conventional therapy, underuse of topical 5 aminosalicylates (5-ASAs) in UC and inappropriate dosing of corticosteroids are also important considerations. Acute severe UC remains a life-threatening condition and delay in starting rescue therapy after inadequate response to intravenous steroids is still common. Anti-tumor necrosis factors should be considered first line in all cases of complex perianal fistulizing CD. Most patients with IBD are on potent immunosuppressive therapy and should be screened for latent infections and offered vaccinations according to guidelines. Under-recognition and management of significant complications such as anemia, osteoporosis, malnutrition, and thromboembolism should also be addressed. Colonoscopy is still not properly performed for dysplasia/cancer surveillance and for evaluating post-op recurrence of CD. Another common misstep is inappropriate withdrawal of medications during pregnancy leading to increased complications for the mother and the newborn.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Abnormalities in the reproductive functions are often ignored while evaluating a patient with celiac disease (CeD). We evaluated the entire reproductive functions in female patients with CeD. METHODS: In a case control study between 2020 and 2021 using detailed questionnaire, we evaluated reproductive functions (age at menarche, menstrual pattern, fertility, pregnancy outcome and menopause) in biopsy-proven female patients with CeD of age >10 years. The questionnaire was administered either in person or telephonically. Age-matched healthy female controls (twice the number) were also recruited. RESULTS: Of 1086 CeD patients, 470 were females and 288 were included. As compared with controls (n = 586), females with CeD had higher age at menarche (14.6 ± 2.0 vs 13.6 ± 1.5 years; P = 0.001), delayed menarche (30.8% vs 11.4%; P = 0.001), abnormal menstrual pattern (39.7% vs 25.8%; P < 0.001), involuntary delay in conception at > 1 year (33.8% vs 11.8%; P = 0.01), current infertility rate (10.5% vs 5.2%;P = 0.028), and poorer overall pregnancy outcomes (abortion [23.5% vs 12.8%; P = 0.001], pre-term birth [16.3% vs 3.7%; P = 0.001]). CONCLUSIONS: Either one or more aspect of reproductive functions and pregnancy outcome is affected adversely in three-fourth female patients with CeD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: In recent years, patients with celiac disease (CeD) have been reported to have a high prevalence of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the prevalence of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome in patients with CeD and effect of gluten-free diet in them. METHODS: The PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library databases were searched for original studies upto November 18, 2022. We included full-text articles published in the English language after 1990 that used well-defined criteria for CeD, fatty liver and metabolic syndrome. A random effects model was used to calculate pooled prevalence. RESULTS: Of 350 studies identified, 11 studies (n = 2578) were included in the analysis. On analysis of both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, pooled prevalence of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome in treatment-naïve patients with CeD were 18.2% (95% CI 8.3-30.8%, n = 1237) and 4.3% (95% CI 2.4-6.7, n = 1239) and in those on GFD of varying duration was 28.2% (95% CI 20.7-36.4%, n = 1368) and 21.3% (95% CI 11.7-32.9%, n = 2193), respectively. There was no difference in the prevalence of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome between low- or high-income group countries. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with CeD have a high prevalence of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome which increases further with the initiation of GFD. Patients with CeD should thus be screened and monitored for development of fatty liver and metabolic syndrome. They should be counselled appropriately regarding their diet and inclusion of physical activity in their lifestyle.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Current international guidelines recommend duodenal biopsies to confirm the diagnosis of celiac disease in adult patients. However, growing evidence suggests that immunoglobulin A (IgA) anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTg) antibody levels ≥10 times the upper limit of normal (ULN) can accurately predict celiac disease, eliminating the need for biopsy. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the accuracy of the no-biopsy approach to confirm the diagnosis of celiac disease in adults. METHODS: We systematically searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science from January 1998 to October 2023 for studies reporting the sensitivity and specificity of IgA-tTG ≥10×ULN against duodenal biopsies (Marsh grade ≥2) in adults with suspected celiac disease. We used a bivariate random effects model to calculate the summary estimates of sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative likelihood ratios. The positive and negative likelihood ratios were used to calculate the positive predictive value of the no-biopsy approach across different pretest probabilities of celiac disease. The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated using the QUADAS-2 tool. This study was registered with PROSPERO, number CRD42023398812. RESULTS: A total of 18 studies comprising 12,103 participants from 15 countries were included. The pooled prevalence of biopsy-proven celiac disease in the included studies was 62% (95% confidence interval [CI], 40%-83%). The proportion of patients with IgA-tTG ≥10×ULN was 32% (95% CI, 24%-40%). The summary sensitivity of IgA-tTG ≥10×ULN was 51% (95% CI, 42%-60%), and the summary specificity was 100% (95% CI, 98%-100%). The area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.83 (95% CI, 0.77 - 0.89). The positive predictive value of the no-biopsy approach to identify patients with celiac disease was 65%, 88%, 95%, and 99% if celiac disease prevalence was 1%, 4%, 10%, and 40%, respectively. Between-study heterogeneity was moderate (I2 =30.3%), and additional sensitivity analyses did not significantly alter our findings. Only 1 study had a low risk of bias across all domains. CONCLUSION: The results of this meta-analysis suggest that selected adult patients with IgA-tTG ≥10×ULN and a moderate to high pretest probability of celiac disease could be diagnosed without undergoing invasive endoscopy and duodenal biopsy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Celiac disease (CeD) has now become a global disease with a worldwide prevalence of 0.67%. Despite being a common disease, CeD is often not diagnosed and there is a significant delay in its diagnosis. We reviewed the impact of the delay in the diagnosis on the severity of manifestations of CeD. METHODS: We reviewed clinical records of 726 consecutive patients with CeD from the Celiac Clinic database and the National Celiac Disease Consortium database. We extracted specific data including the demographics, symptoms at presentation, time of onset of symptoms, time to diagnosis from the onset of the symptoms, and relevant clinical data including fold-rise in anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody (IgA anti-tTG Ab) and severity of villous and crypt abnormalities as assessed using modified Marsh classification. RESULTS: The median duration between the onset of symptoms and the diagnosis of CeD was 27 months (interquartile range 12-60 months). A longer delay in the diagnosis of CeD from the onset of symptoms was associated with lower height for age, lower hemoglobin, higher fold rise in IgA Anti tTG titers, and higher severity of villous and crypt abnormalities. About 18% of patients presented with predominantly non-gastrointestinal complaints and had a longer delay in the diagnosis of CeD. CONCLUSIONS: There is a significant delay in the diagnosis of CeD since the onset of its symptoms. The severity of celiac disease increases with increasing delay in its diagnosis. There is a need to keep a low threshold for the diagnosis of CeD in appropriate clinical settings.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: It is challenging to make diagnosis of non-celiac gluten sensitivity/non-celiac wheat sensitivity (NCGS/NCWS) in clinical practice, since there is no biomarker and diagnosis is based on response to gluten-free-diet (GFD). We used anti-gliadin antibody (AGA) for screening patients with IBS for gluten-sensitivity. METHODS: 492 Adult-patients with IBS underwent screening for celiac disease and gluten-sensitivity using IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody and IgA-AGA and IgG-AGA, respectively. Patients with positive AGA (IgA and/or IgG) were invited to follow GFD, those willing were put on GFD for 6-weeks. Responsive patients were given gluten re-challenge. Diagnosis of NCGS was confirmed if they had recurrence of symptoms. RESULTS: Of 492 patients with IBS, AGA was positive in 61(12.4 %), hence suspected to have gluten-sensitivity. Of 31 who agreed to participate and followed GFD for 6-weeks, 17 (54.8 %) had complete (>30 % improvement) and 10(32.2 %) had partial (>20 % improvement) response. All 17 complete-responders were given gluten re-challenge for 6-weeks, symptoms recurred in all and hence were confirmed to have NCGS/NCWS. Significant decrease in AGA levels occurred almost in all GFD-responders. CONCLUSIONS: 12.4 % IBS patients have biological evidence of gluten/wheat-sensitivity. Almost 87 % patients with IBS having AGA responded to GFD. The value of AGA may further be explored as a biomarker for screening for the presence of NCGS, before recommending this test for the clinical practice.

RESUMO

There are a number of reports about anticancer activity of indole derivatives. In this study, we investigated the role of indoxyl sulfate (IS) for its selective anticancer activity on colon cancer cells. IS treatment on HCT-116 and HT-29 human epithelial adenocarcinoma cells led to a decrease in cell proliferation, cell viability, and ATP content. Colon cancer cells showed a 10% increase in cell apoptosis in comparison to control. Due to IS treatment, cell morphology got distorted, cell number found decreased, intracellular vesicles formed, and cells were found floating in the media. Cells also showed a loss in membrane integrity and a decrease in colony-forming ability and ceased at the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. No significant change was noted in the level of inflammatory cytokines IL-17A, IL-1ß, and TNF-α, histology, length of intestine, and spleen after 100 mM IS treatment to balb/c mice. These observations indicate the selective anticancer effect of IS on colon cancer cells.

RESUMO

The causes of intractable diarrhoea in infancy are varied, and can be classified into enteropathic and non-enteropathic groups. Congenital tufting enteropathy (CTE) is a rare cause of enteropathic form of intractable diarrhoea in infants requiring nutritional supplementation. We herein report a case of CTE in a one-year-old female child who presented with recurrent abdominal distension, frequent watery diarrhoea and marked stunted growth soon after birth. A systematic clinical, laboratory and pathological evaluation brought out the etiology, followed by genotypic confirmation. Histological examination revealed mild villous abnormality with presence of epithelial tufts both in the villous and crypt surface, in the duodenum and rectal biopsies supported by complete loss of MOC31 staining. Deep sequencing revealed homozygous 3' splice mutation at intron 5 of the EPCAM gene (c.556-14A>G). She was given TPN support and discharged with weight gain under home-based parenteral nutrition supplement. This case brings out the need for a multidisciplinary team approach to reveal underlying the cause of infantile intractable diarrhoea and report a favorable outcome with nutritional supplementation.

RESUMO

For patients with celiac disease (CeD), a lifelong gluten-free diet is not a voluntary lifestyle choice-it is a necessity. The key end points in clinical follow-up are symptom resolution, the normalization of weight, prevention of overweight, seroconversion, and negation or minimization of increased long-term morbidity. For the latter, a surrogate endpoint is mucosal healing, which means the normalization of histology to Marsh 0-1. Ideally, celiac follow-up care includes a multidisciplinary approach, effective referral processes, improved access that leverages technological advances, and following guidelines with the identification of measurable quality indicators, ideally informed by evidence-based research. Face-to-face CeD care and telemedicine are considered the standards for this process, although published data are insufficient. Guidelines and statements on diagnosis are readily available. However, data are lacking on optimal clinic visit intervals and outcomes and quality indicators such as improvement of symptoms, function and quality of life, survival and disease control, and how to most effectively use healthcare resources. The results of future research should provide the basis for general recommendations for evidence-based standards of quality of care in CeD.

RESUMO

Impaired class switch memory (CSM) B cell formation is the hallmark of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID). Various T cell abnormalities have been observed in CVID patients indicating inadequate T-cell help to B cells. A major setback in understanding its pathogenesis is due to diverse clinical presentation. Therefore, we performed extensive immunological investigation in a cohort of CVID patients with similar clinical findings in order to unravel the T cell dysfunction and its influence on the defective humoral immune response. All recruited CVID patients exhibited B cells in the normal range, but reduced CSM B cells. However, patients showed reduced T cell proliferation, reduced level of serum Interleukin-9 (IL-9) and frequency of IL-9 expressing CD4 (Th-9) cells. IL-9 supplementation along with CD40 engagement was effective in inducing in vitro CSM B cells formation in CVID patients. Thus, IL-9 supplementation has the potential to restore impaired CSM B cell formation in CVID.
