PURPOSE: To design a patient specific quality assurance (PSQA) process for the CyberKnife Synchrony system and quantify its dosimetric accuracy using a motion platform driven by patient tumor traces with rotation. METHODS: The CyberKnife Synchrony system was evaluated using a motion platform (MODUSQA) and a SRS MapCHECK phantom. The platform was programed to move in the superior-inferior (SI) direction based on tumor traces. The detector array housed by the StereoPhan was placed on the platform. Extra rotational angles in pitch (head down, 4.0° ± 0.15° or 1.2° ± 0.1°) were added to the moving phantom to examine robot capability of angle correction during delivery. A total of 15 Synchrony patients were performed SBRT PSQA on the moving phantom. All the results were benchmarked by the PSQA results based on static phantom. RESULTS: For smaller pitch angles, the mean gamma passing rates were 99.75% ± 0.87%, 98.63% ± 2.05%, and 93.11% ± 5.52%, for 3%/1 mm, 2%/1 mm, and 1%/1 mm, respectively. Large discrepancy in the passing rates was observed for different pitch angles due to limited angle correction by the robot. For larger pitch angles, the corresponding mean passing rates were dropped to 93.00% ± 10.91%, 88.05% ± 14.93%, and 80.38% ± 17.40%. When comparing with the static phantom, no significant statistic difference was observed for smaller pitch angles (p = 0.1 for 3%/1 mm), whereas a larger statistic difference was observed for larger pitch angles (p < 0.02 for all criteria). All the gamma passing rates were improved, if applying shift and rotation correction. CONCLUSIONS: The significance of this work is that it is the first study to benchmark PSQA for the CyberKnife Synchrony system using realistically moving phantoms with rotation. With reasonable delivery time, we found it may be feasible to perform PSQA for Synchrony patients with a realistic breathing pattern.

PURPOSE: This prospective study assessed the value of ultrasonography (US) in the evaluation of hepatosplenic fungal infections (HSFI). METHODS: Thirty-two pediatric participants with confirmed onco-hematological diseases and HSFI were included. Lesions in the liver and/or spleen were detected by US, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or computed tomography (CT). RESULTS: Of the participants, 11 (34%) had confirmed HSFI, while 21 (66%) had highly suspected HSFI. The US, CT, MRI, and fungal blood cultures demonstrated positive results in 31, 19, 25, and 7 patients, respectively. US had a significantly higher detection rate than CT, MRI, and fungal blood cultures (p < 0.05). The "bull's eye" phenomenon was a distinctive US feature of HSFI. Follow-up examinations indicated that after a mean of 7.7 (1-15) months, liver and/or spleen lesions disappeared in five patients. The lesion was significantly smaller in 10 patients. Residual calcifications were detected in 15 patients. Two patients died. CONCLUSION: Conclusively, the US may substitute for tissue biopsy, other imaging modalities, or fungal blood culture for the confirmation of HSFI, and may guide better antifungal treatment, thus achieving better outcomes.

Interpersonal communication facilitates symptom measures of autistic sociability to enhance clinical decision-making in identifying children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Traditional methods are carried out by clinical practitioners with assessment scales, which are subjective to quantify. Recent studies employ engineering technologies to analyze children's behaviors with quantitative indicators, but these methods only generate specific rule-driven indicators that are not adaptable to diverse interaction scenarios. To tackle this issue, we propose a Computational Interpersonal Communication Model (CICM) based on psychological theory to represent dyadic interpersonal communication as a stochastic process, providing a scenario-independent theoretical framework for evaluating autistic sociability. We apply CICM to the response-to-name (RTN) with 48 subjects, including 30 toddlers with ASD and 18 typically developing (TD), and design a joint state transition matrix as quantitative indicators. Paired with machine learning, our proposed CICM-driven indicators achieve consistencies of 98.44% and 83.33% with RTN expert ratings and ASD diagnosis, respectively. Beyond outstanding screening results, we also reveal the interpretability between CICM-driven indicators and expert ratings based on statistical analysis.

INTRODUCTION: According to reports, the modified extra-articular parapatellar approach allows the performance of tibial nailing in the semi-extended position without the concern of joint violation. However, there remains no special study that has provided a detailed assessment of the benefits and risks of this approach for treating distal tibial fractures (DTFs). The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the clinical and radiological outcomes of patients with DTFs after intramedullary nailing using a lateral parapatellar extra-articular (LPE) approach in comparison to using the suprapatellar (SP) and transpatellar (TP) approaches. METHODS: Data were collected from 99 patients with a minimum follow-up period of 12 months. Comparisons were conducted between the groups regarding the number of intraoperative fluoroscopies, complications, knee pain, knee range of motion (ROM), the Lysholm Knee Scale (LKS), the Olerud-Molander Ankle Score (OMAS) and radiological findings. RESULTS: The demographic characteristics were comparable between the groups. Fewer intraoperative fluoroscopies were performed in the LPE (27.47 ± 4.98) and SP (26.03 ± 5.12) groups than in the TP group (30.20 ± 7.42; P<0.001). When compared with the other two approaches, the LPE approach was associated with less knee pain (P<0.001) and better knee ROM (P<0.001) at one week postoperative. No significant intergroup differences were detected in the incidence of complications, LKS scores (P = 0.687) and OMAS (P = 0.926). Radiological findings demonstrated that postoperative tibial alignment (P = 0.853), the time of bony union and rate of non-union were similar between the groups. CONCLUSION: The LPE approach can serve as a safe and effective option for tibial nailing, as it offers favourable outcomes in knee pain relief and knee ROM in the early postoperative period and is equivalent to the other two approaches in terms of the incidence of complications, fracture healing, functional recovery and postoperative alignment for patients with DTFs.

Objective: The objective of this experiment was to determine the standard ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acid (AA) in 10 different sources of wheat bran fed to broilers and establish the SID AA prediction based on the chemical composition. Methods: A total of 660 1-day-old broilers were randomly divided into 11 treatments with 6 replicates of 10 chickens each. Diets included 10 semi-purified mash diets and 1 nitrogen-free diet. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) 0.50% was used as an indigestible index. On day 13, 6 chickens from each replicate were selected for slaughter to collect ileal contents. On day 28, 4 chickens from each replicate were selected for slaughter to collect ileal contents. Results: Results showed that the coefficient of variation of the conventional nutrients (except for gross energy, and dry matter) and all amino acids was greater than 8.00%. The average SID of essential AA in wheat bran for 13-day-old broilers was 37.24% and the average SID of nonessential AA was 42.02%; the average SID of essential AA for 28-day-old broilers was 67.13% and the average SID of nonessential AA was 69.51%. A correlation was observed (P<0.05) between most SID AA and crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and ash at day 13. A correlation was observed (P<0.05) between most SID AA and CF, and ADF at day 28. The R2 value of stepwise regression equations for predicting the SID AA at day 13 and day 28 was best for glutamic acid (R2 = 0.97 using CP, ash, CF, ether extract (EE), and neutral detergent fiber (NDF)) and lysine (R2 = 0.74 using ash, ADF, EE, and NDF), respectively. Conclusion: In conclusion, broiler age had a significant effect on the SID AA values of wheat bran. The chemical composition of wheat bran varied widely between sources, and CP, CF, ADF, NDF, and ash were reasonable predictors of the SID AA of wheat bran.

BACKGROUND: Combining immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) with chemotherapy has become a standard treatment for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) lacking driver gene mutations. Reliable biomarkers are essential for predicting treatment outcomes. Emerging evidence from various cancers suggests that early assessment of serum metabolites could serve as valuable biomarkers for predicting outcomes. This study aims to identify metabolites linked to treatment outcomes in patients with advanced NSCLC undergoing first-line or second-line therapy with programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitors plus chemotherapy. METHOD: 200 patients with advanced NSCLC receiving either first-line or second-line PD-1 inhibitor plus chemotherapy, and 50 patients undergoing first-line chemotherapy were enrolled in this study. The 200 patients receiving combination therapy were divided into a Discovery set (n=50) and a Validation set (n=150). These sets were further categorized into respond and non-respond groups based on progression-free survival PFS criteria (PFS≥12 and PFS<12 months). Serum samples were collected from all patients before treatment initiation for untargeted metabolomics analysis, with the goal of identifying and validating biomarkers that can predict the efficacy of immunotherapy plus chemotherapy. Additionally, the validated metabolites were grouped into high and low categories based on their medians, and their relationship with PFS was analyzed using Cox regression models in patients receiving combination therapy. RESULTS: After the impact of chemotherapy was accounted for, two significant differential metabolites were identified in both the Discovery and Validation sets: N-(3-Indolylacetyl)-L-alanine and methomyl (VIP>1 and p<0.05). Notably, upregulation of both metabolites was observed in the group with a poorer prognosis. In the univariate analysis of PFS, lower levels of N-(3-Indolylacetyl)-L-alanine were associated with longer PFS (HR=0.59, 95% CI, 0.41 to 0.84, p=0.003), and a prolonged PFS was also indicated by lower levels of methomyl (HR=0.67, 95% CI, 0.47 to 0.96, p=0.029). In multivariate analyses of PFS, lower levels of N-(3-Indolylacetyl)-L-alanine were significantly associated with a longer PFS (HR=0.60, 95% CI, 0.37 to 0.98, p=0.041). CONCLUSION: Improved outcomes were associated with lower levels of N-(3-Indolylacetyl)-L-alanine in patients with stage IIIB-IV NSCLC lacking driver gene mutations, who underwent first-line or second-line therapy with PD-1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy. Further exploration of the potential predictive value of pretreatment detection of N-(3-Indolylacetyl)-L-alanine in peripheral blood for the efficacy of combination therapy is warranted. STATEMENT: The combination of ICIs and chemotherapy has established itself as the new standard of care for first-line or second-line treatment in patients with advanced NSCLC lacking oncogenic driver alterations. Therefore, identifying biomarkers that can predict the efficacy and prognosis of immunotherapy plus chemotherapy is of paramount importance. Currently, the only validated predictive biomarker is programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1), but its predictive value is not absolute. Our study suggests that the detection of N-(3-Indolylacetyl)-L-alanine in patient serum with untargeted metabolomics prior to combined therapy may predict the efficacy of treatment. Compared with detecting PD-L1 expression, the advantage of our biomarker is that it is more convenient, more dynamic, and seems to work synergistically with PD-L1 expression.

With the widespread adoption of electronic health records, the amount of stored medical data has been increasing. Clinical data, often in the form of semi-structured or unstructured electronic medical records (EMRs), contains rich patient information. However, due to the use of natural language by physicians when composing these records, the effectiveness of traditional methods such as dictionaries, rule matching, and machine learning in the extraction of information from these unstructured texts falls short of clinical standards. In this paper, a novel deep-learning-based natural language extraction method is proposed to overcome current shortcomings in data governance and Gensini score automatic calculation in coronary angiography. A pre-trained model called bidirectional encoder representation from transformers (BERT) with strong text feature representation capabilities is employed as the feature representation layer. It is combined with bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) and conditional random field (CRF) models to extract both global and local features from the text. The study included an evaluation of the model on a dataset from a hospital in China and it was compared with another model to validate its practical advantages. Hence, the BiLSTM-CRF model was employed to automatically extract relevant coronary angiogram information from EMR texts. The achieved F1 score was 91.19, which is approximately 0.87 higher than the BERT-BiLSTM-CRF model.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) of 3 targets in a single delivery using a novel film-based phantom. METHODS: The phantom was designed to rotate freely as a sphere and could measure 3 targets with film in a single delivery. After identifying the coordinates of 3 targets in the skull, the rotation angles about the equator and meridian were computed for optimal phantom setup, ensuring the film plane intersected the 3 targets. The plans were delivered on the CyberKnife system using fiducial tracking. The irradiated films were scanned and processed. All films were analysed using 3 gamma criteria. RESULTS: Fifteen CyberKnife test plans with 3 different modalities were delivered on the phantom. Both automatic and marker-based registration methods were applied when registering the irradiated film and dose plane. Gamma analysis was performed using a 3%/1 mm, 2%/1 mm, and 1%/1 mm criteria with a 10% threshold. For the automatic registration method, the passing rates were 98.2% ± 1.9%, 94.2% ± 3.7%, and 80.9% ± 6.3%, respectively. For the marker-based registration approach, the passing rates were 96.4% ± 2.7%, 91.7% ± 4.3%, and 78.4% ± 6.2%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: A novel spherical phantom was evaluated for the CyberKnife system and achieved acceptable PSQA passing rates using TG218 recommendations. The phantom can measure true-composite dose and offers high-resolution results for PSQA, making it a valuable device for robotic radiosurgery. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: This is the first study on PSQA of 3 targets concurrently on the CyberKnife system.

Constructing a three-dimensional (3D) structure along with Zn (002) texture selective exposure is a promising strategy to tackle the issues faced by Zn metal anodes. Herein, for the first time, we proposed an electrochemical stripping strategy to achieve controlled modification of the texture and microstructure of zinc foils in one step, building a hierarchical structure with (002) texture preferred exposed Zn (SZ). The SZ with favorable zincophilic properties not only can reduce the concentration polarization at the interface but also allow Zn to grow horizontally on the edge of the (002) texture by guiding the adsorption sites for Zn2+. Moreover, the honeycomb-like structure is beneficial to rearrange the distribution of the Zn2+ flux as well as alleviating stress changes during cycling. Thus, the SZ||Cu cell exhibits excellent stability with a Coulombic efficiency of 99.76% over 1800 cycles. The SZ||NaV3O8·xH2O cell with inconspicuous self-discharge effect maintains a high areal capacity of 3.67 mA h cm-2 even after 700 cycles with a low N/P ratio of 3.6. This work achieves texture architecture and structure designing on Zn foils simultaneously by metallurgical electrochemical methods and opens up a potential strategy to implement the practicality of zinc metal anodes.

This experiment aimed to investigate the effect of Lonicerae flos and Turmeric extracts (LTE) added to diets on growth performance and intestinal health of broilers. A total of 720 healthy 21-day-old yellow-feathered broilers were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups, with 6 replicates and 40 broilers per replicate. These 3 dietary treatments included a basal diet + 0 g/t LTE (CON), a basal diet + 300 g/t LTE (LTE300), and a basal diet + 500 g/t LTE (LTE500). The results showed that dietary supplementation of LTE linearly increased (P < 0.05) average daily gain (d 21-38) and average daily feed intake (d 21-60). At d 60, LTE300 had the highest serum total antioxidant capacity and total superoxide dismutase (P < 0.05), and LTE500 had the lowest malondialdehyde level (P < 0.05) among the three groups. Moreover, compared to CON, LTE300 significantly (P < 0.05) reduced endotoxin (d 38 and d 60) and diamine oxidase activity (d 38); LTE500 significantly (P < 0.05) reduced endotoxin (d 38 and d 60) and diamine oxidase levels (d 60) in the serum. LTE groups significantly (P < 0.05) increased ileal the ratio of villus height to crypt depth and serum immunoglobulin G. Furthermore, dietary supplementation of LTE also improved the intestinal epithelial barrier by the up-regulated mRNA expression of Claudin-1, Occludin and zonula occludens-1, and decreased the mRNA expression of interleukin-2, interleukin-8, tumor necrosis factor-α, nuclear factor κB, myeloid differentiation factor 88 and toll-like receptor 4. Compared to CON, 16S rRNA sequencing analysis showed that LTE300 had a better effect on the microbial diversity and composition in the ileum, and Bacillus and Lactobacillus_agilis were significantly enriched in LTE300. PICRUSt results showed that LTE300 was significantly (P < 0.05) enriched in four pathway pathways at KEGG level 2. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with LTE improved growth performance and intestinal health by enhancing antioxidant capacity, intestinal barrier and immune function, and regulating intestinal flora of yellow-feathered broilers.

In this work, we developed an alternative calibration method for measuring N2O5 with an iodide adduct mass spectrometer (I-CIMS). In this calibration method, N2O5 is heated and then quantified based on the decrease in the amount of NO due to its reaction with the pyrolysis product (NO3). This alternative calibration method was compared with the commonly used method utilizing NOx analyzers equipped with a photolytic converter, which gauge NO2 reduction as a result of its reaction with O3 to quantify N2O5. It is notable that the two methodologies demonstrate favorable consistency in terms of calibrating N2O5, with a variance of less than 10 %. The alternative calibration method is a more reliable way to quantify N2O5 with CIMS, considering the instability of the NO2 conversion efficiency of photolytic converters in NOx analyzers and the loss of N2O5 in the sampling line. The effects of O3 and relative humidity (RH) on the sensitivity toward N2O5 were further examined. There was minimal perturbation of N2O5 quantification upon exposure to O3 even at high concentrations. The N2O5 sensitivity exhibited a nonlinear dependence on RH as it initially rose and then fell. Besides I(N2O5)-, the collisional interaction between I(H2O)- and N2O5 also forms I(HNO3)-, which may interfere with the accurate quantification of HNO3. As a consequence of the pronounced dependence on humidity, it is advisable to implement humidity correction procedures when conducting measurements of N2O5.

RESUMO

Five new steroidal saponins, paripolins D-H (1-5), and 6 known compounds (6-11) were isolated from the aerial parts of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis. The structures of 1-5 were determined using spectroscopic analyses in conjunction with acid hydrolysis. It is for the first time to report the 12-hydroxysteroidal saponins from the genus Paris. The effect of all isolated compounds on blood coagulation was determined in vitro using the plasma recalcification time method. Compounds 1 and 2 showed potent procoagulant activity, and 5-11 exhibited significant anticoagulant activity.

INTRODUCTION: Deep neck space abscesses (DNAs) are serious surgical emergencies, associated with life-threatening complications. Surgical incision and drainage combined with antibiotics is the main treatment for DNAs, but drawbacks still exist. Ultrasound-guided puncture drainage is an alternative treatment for some DNAs with limited clinical evidence. Hence, the optimal drainage technique for the treatment of DNAs remains unclear. Therefore, we will perform a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis to identify the efficacy of ultrasound-guided puncture drainage for DNAs. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: PubMed, Ovid Medline, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang database, VIP database and trial registry databases will be searched from inception to September 2023 to identify randomised controlled trials of patients diagnosed with DNAs accepting ultrasound-guided puncture drainage. The primary outcome will be the length of hospital stay. The secondary outcomes will be the cure rate, incidence of retreatment, complications and overall cost to the healthcare system. Fixed-effects or random-effects model will be used according to the statistical heterogeneity. Mean differences or standardised mean differences with 95% CIs for continuous data and risk ratio (RR) with 95% CIs for dichotomous data. The Cochrane risk-of-bias tool 2, Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) and trial sequential analysis will be conducted to evaluate the evidence quality and control the random errors. Funnel plots and Egger's regression test will be performed to evaluate publication bias. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approval was not required for this systematic review protocol. The results will be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER: CRD42023441031.

The Tavis-Cummings model is intensively investigated in quantum optics and has important applications in generation of multi-atom entanglement. Here, we employ a superconducting circuit quantum electrodynamic system to study a modified Tavis-Cummings model with directly-coupled atoms. In our device, three superconducting artificial atoms are arranged in a chain with direct coupling through fixed capacitors and strongly coupled to a transmission line resonator. By performing transmission spectrum measurements, we observe different anticrossing structures when one or two qubits are resonantly coupled to the resonator. In the case of the two-qubit Tavis-Cummings model without qubit-qubit interaction, we observe two dips at the resonance point of the anticrossing. The splitting of these dips is determined by Δ λ=2g12+g32, where g1 and g3 are the coupling strengths between Qubit 1 and the resonator, and Qubit 3 and the resonator, respectively. The direct coupling J12 between the two qubits results in three dressed states in the two-qubit Tavis-Cummings model at the frequency resonance point, leading to three dips in the transmission spectrum. In this case, the distance between the two farthest and asymmetrical dips, arising from the energy level splitting, is larger than in the previous case. The frequency interval between these two dips is determined by the difference in eigenvalues (Δ λ=ε 1+-ε 1-), obtained through numerical calculations. What we believe as novel and intriguing experimental results may potentially advance quantum optics experiments, providing valuable insights for future research.

Peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN) is a significant indicator of atmospheric photochemical pollution, which can influence the regional distribution of ozone (O3) and hydroxyl radical (OH) through long-range transport. However, investigations of PAN incorporating comprehensive measurement and explicit modeling analysis are limited, hindering complete understandings of its temporal behavior, sources, and impacts on photochemistry. Here we conducted a 1-year continuous observation of PAN and relative atmospheric species in Nanjing located in Yangtze River Delta (YRD). The annual mean concentration of PAN was 0.62 ± 0.49 ppbv and showed a bimodal monthly variation, peaking in April-June and November-January, respectively. This pattern is different from the typical pattern of photochemistry, suggesting important contributions of other non-photochemical processes. We further analyzed the PAN budget using an observation-based model, by which, PAN from local photochemical production and regional source could be decoupled. Our results revealed that local photochemical production of PAN is the sole contributor to PAN in summer, whereas about half of the total PAN concentration is attributed to regional source in winter. Although the formation of PAN can suppress the atmospheric oxidation capacity by consuming the peroxyacetyl radical and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), our analyses suggested this effect is minor at our station (-3.2 ± 1.1 % in summer and - 7.2 ± 2.8 % in winter for O3 formation). However, it has the potential to enhance O3 and OH formation by 14.16 % and 5.93 %, if transported to cleaner environments with air pollutants halved. Overall, our study highlights the importance of both local photochemistry and regional process in PAN budget and provides a useful evaluation on the impact of PAN on atmospheric oxidation capacity.

Gaze is a vital feature in analyzing natural human behavior and social interaction. Existing gaze target detection studies learn gaze from gaze orientations and scene cues via a neural network to model gaze in unconstrained scenes. Though achieve decent accuracy, these studies either employ complex model architectures or leverage additional depth information, which limits the model application. This article proposes a simple and effective gaze target detection model that employs dual regression to improve detection accuracy while maintaining low model complexity. Specifically, in the training phase, the model parameters are optimized under the supervision of coordinate labels and corresponding Gaussian-smoothed heatmap labels. In the inference phase, the model outputs the gaze target in the form of coordinates as prediction rather than heatmaps. Extensive experimental results on within-dataset and cross-dataset evaluations on public datasets and clinical data of autism screening demonstrate that our model has high accuracy and inference speed with solid generalization capabilities.

Nanoparticle growth influences atmospheric particles' climatic effects, and it is largely driven by low-volatility organic vapors. However, the magnitude and mechanism of organics' contribution to nanoparticle growth in polluted environments remain unclear because current observations and models cannot capture organics across full volatility ranges or track their formation chemistry. Here, we develop a mechanistic model that characterizes the full volatility spectrum of organic vapors and their contributions to nanoparticle growth by coupling advanced organic oxidation modeling and kinetic gas-particle partitioning. The model is applied to Nanjing, a typical polluted city, and it effectively captures the volatility distribution of low-volatility organics (with saturation vapor concentrations <0.3 µg/m3), thus accurately reproducing growth rates (GRs), with a 4.91% normalized mean bias. Simulations indicate that as particles grow from 4 to 40 nm, the relative fractions of GRs attributable to organics increase from 59 to 86%, with the remaining contribution from H2SO4 and its clusters. Aromatics contribute much to condensable organic vapors (∼37%), especially low-volatility vapors (∼61%), thus contributing the most to GRs (32-46%) as 4-40 nm particles grow. Alkanes also contribute 19-35% of GRs, while biogenic volatile organic compounds contribute minimally (<13%). Our model helps assess the climatic impacts of particles and predict future changes.

As the body's first line of defense, neutrophils play an important role in the early stages of infection. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), a novel way to kill pathogens, are released from activated neutrophils to trap and kill microorganisms and protect the body from invasion. However, studies have shown that NETs not only play a role in self-defense in vivo but also participate in some pathological processes. Current studies have found that excessive or abnormally activated NETs play a pathogenic role in a variety of diseases. NETs, in addition to killing pathogens during the pathology of sepsis, affect on coagulation function, and blood endothelium. Additionally, NETs have a wide range of effects in other inflammatory, immune, and other related diseases. NETs are involved in the pathology of atherosclerosis. NETs also play a role in systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer's disease, and tumors, but there are relatively few NETs studies on bone and joint diseases. This article discusses NETs, their formation, and their association with bone and joint disorders. New targets for the effective treatment of joint diseases may be identified by studying the relationship between NETs and bone and joint diseases.
