RESUMO

A novel double spot-ring plane-concave multipass cell (DSPC-MPC) gas sensor was proposed for simultaneous detection of trace gases, which has lower cost and higher mirror utilization than the traditional multipass cell with 129 m, 107 m, 85 m, 63 m and 40 m effective optical path lengths adjustable. The performance of the DSPC-MPC gas sensor was evaluated by measuring CO and CH4 using two narrow linewidth distributed feedback lasers with center wavelengths of 1567 nm and 1653 nm, respectively. An adjustable digital PID laser frequency stabilization system based on LabVIEW platform was developed to continuously stabilize the laser frequency within ∼±30.3 MHz. The Allan deviation results showed that the minimum detection limits for CO and CH4 were 0.07 ppmv and 0.008 ppmv at integration times of 711 s and 245 s, respectively. The proposed concept of DSPC-MPC provides more ideas for the realization of gas detection under different absorption path lengths and the development of multi-component gas sensing systems.

RESUMO

We purpose a novel portable 3D-printed umbrella photoacoustic (PA) cell, to the best of our knowledge, for trace gas detection. Its simulation and structural optimization were performed via finite element analysis using COMSOL software. We investigate the factors affecting the PA signals using both experimentation and theory. By measuring methane, a minimum detection limit of 5.36 ppm (signal-to-noise ratio, 223.8) with a lock-in time of 3s was achieved. The proposed miniature umbrella PA system indicates the potential for a miniaturized and low-cost trace sensor.

RESUMO

We propose to use the wavelet transform and Kalman filter methods for processing noise in δ13CO2 measurement using laser absorption spectroscopy at 2.008 µm and they have been shown to be useful tool for reducing the intrinsic noise of the optical system. Through the performance comparison and analysis of these two denoising techniques for the intrinsic noise reduction of optical system, it can be found that the Kalman filter is a more suitable approach for the extraction of gas isotope measurement signal from a contaminated signal.

RESUMO

In the present paper, the authors focus on the effect of the resonance frequency shift due to the changes in temperature and humidity on the PA signal, present several methods to control the noise derived form gas flow and vibration from the sampling pump. Based on the efforts mentioned above, a detection limit of 1.4 x 10(-8) W x cm(-1) x Hz(-1/2) was achieved for the measurement of atmospheric aerosols absorption coefficient. During the experiments, the PA cell was calibrated with the absorption of standard NO2 gas at 532 nm and the atmospheric aerosols were measured continuously. The measurement results show that the PAS is suitable for the real-time measurement of the absorption coefficient of atmospheric aerosols in their natural suspended state.

RESUMO

A homemade low-temperature T shape photoacoustic system (PAS) in the range from 0 to - 100 degrees C is well established. The mode distribution, the temperature dependence of the resonant frequency, Q-factor and the sensitivity of the PAS were investigated. The measurement of the carbon dioxide in the range from 0 to -100 degrees C showed that the system can be used in trace gas detection under low-temperature. The results show that the PAS can be used to study the atmospheric molecules continuous absorption at low-temperature.

RESUMO

A new method for the determination of fast axis of wave-plate is introduced. Based on the principle of electro-optic phase compensation in the wave-plate phase measuring method, the relation between the polarization extinction system out-put signal and the modulating signal can be acquired through the composition of frequency fixed alternating voltage modulation signal. Through the analysis of this process with Jones matrix, the out-put signal was usually found to be the composition of fundamental frequency and second harmonic frequency, the composition signal reflects the axis information as well as the phase information of the wave-plate, and this phenomenon has never been noticed before. Through the analysis of this phenomenon, the transformation trends of the composed wave-form by rotating of wave-plates with different orientations were deduced, and through the observation of the transformation trend, one can easily distinguish the fast and slow axes of wave-plates with phase retardation > pi as well as those with phase retardation < pi, and their phenomena are reverse to each other.
