Introduction and objective: The aim of this study is to describe aspects of health inequalities in Brazil, correlating theory and practice, as well as emphasizing these aspects in dentistry. Oral diseases have also their origin and clinical evolution determined by social factors, getting easily to harmful stages that can lead to oral health damage. RESUMO
Pequenas manchas e defeitos na superfície do esmalte, independentemente de sua etiologia, podem muitas vezes ser removidas com ação local de materiais ácidos e abrasivos. A microabrasão consiste no desgaste superficial do esmalte dentário, por meio de substância ácida e abrasiva. Este artigo apresenta três casos de microabrasão em dentes decíduos com cáries de esmalte incipientes, realizados na Clínica de Odontopediatria da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Foi utilizado o produto Whiteness RM para a remoção das manchas superficiais do esmalte e, em seguida, aplicado flúor tópico. Conclui que a microabrasão é um método simples, de fácil aplicação e proporciona resultado estético favorável, pois restabelece o sorriso do paciente infantil.
