RESUMO

Aim      To assess the tolerability of an individualized physical rehabilitation program (PRP) in inotrope-dependent patients with end-stage chronic heart failure (CHF).Material and methods  This prospective randomized study included 120 men aged 18-65 years with left ventricular ejection fraction ≤30 % and blood pressure ≥90 / 60 mm Hg. Patients who have received dobutamine or dopamine for ≥2 weeks were randomized into two groups: group 1, 40 patients who participated in the PRP and group 2, 40 patients who did not participate in the PRP. Group 3 included 40 patients without inotropic support who participated in the PRP.Results Patients of groups 1 and 3 attended >80 % of the scheduled classes without developing life-threatening adverse events (AEs) associated with exercise (E). After 6 months of the study, the exercising patients achieved a comparable (average) E intensity: 44 [35; 50]% and 45 [40;52]% of heart rate reserve and Borg scale scores 14 [12; 14] and 13 [11; 14] in groups 1 and 3, respectively (p>0.05). Initially, after 3 and 6 months at the peak of physical activity in groups 1 and 3, there was no decrease in arterial blood oxygen saturation according to pulse oximetry (SpO2) <93 %. At baseline, lactate levels in central venous blood at rest were normal in all groups. After 6 months, the lactate concentration was 1.1 mmol / l in group 1, 2.3 mmol / l in group 2, and 1.4 mmol / l in group 3 (р1-2=0.005; p2-3=0.008, respectively). At the E peak at baseline, after 3 and 6 months, comparable increases in lactate not exceeding 3 mmol / l were detected in groups 1 and 3.Conclusion      The study allowed assessment of the tolerability of individualized PRP performed at the aerobic level of energy supply, in inotropic-dependent patients with CHF. Individualized 6-month PRP in inotropic-dependent patients with end-stage CHF, provided safety criteria are met, is well tolerated and does not increase the number of AEs associated with CHF and physical rehabilitation (PR). Continued inotropic support with dopamine or dobutamine should not be considered as a contraindication to PR in patients with CHF in the absence of E intolerance or life-threatening AEs.

RESUMO

Eriophyoid mites are a group of phytoparasites of high economic importance due to their ability to transmit phytopathogens and cause the development of various plant malformations including galls. Chemical compounds of mite saliva injected into plant cells and the reaction of the plant cell genome play the crucial role in the gall formation process. Various triggers specific to plant DNA (e.g. exogenous phytohormones) and pathogenic microbes may be the factors inducing the gallogenesis. The process of gall formation is a complex growth reaction induced in the epidermal cells. Mechanisms of the gallogenesis induced by eriophyoids are studied very insufficiently. The analysis of the available literary data shows that malformations caused by eriophyoids on plants significantly vary in shape, topography, and longevity and may have different etiologies. Differences in the shape of a gall depend, first of all, on the mite species; plants, however, demonstrate limited number of gall types. Clarified classification of galls induced by eriophyoid mites is proposed. A gradual program for future studies is represented.

RESUMO

In recent years, the role of WOX genes encoding homeodomain transcription factors in the development of the apical meristem of shoots and roots has been actively investigated. However, the role of WOX genes in the control of the cell proliferation in other meristem types is poorly studied. In our work, we have studied the role of the WOX5 gene in the development of the meristem in nitrogen-fixing nodules developing on the roots of legumes in a symbiosis with rhizobia. We have shown that the WOX5 gene is involved in the development of the nodule meristem in legumes, have quantitatively evaluated the gene's expression at different nodule formation stages, and have studied the localization of its expression using a construction containing the WOX5 promoter conjugated with a reporter gene. The role of the WOX5 transcription factor in the nodule organogenesis and its possible interaction with the hormonal system in the course of the nodule development has been discussed.

RESUMO

In legumes, perception of rhizobial lipochitooligosacharide-based molecules (Nod factors) and subsequent signal transduction triggers transcription of plant symbiosis-specific genes (early nodulins). We present genetic dissection of Nod factor-controlled processes in Pisum sativum using two early nodulin genes PsENOD12a and PsENOD5, that are differentially up-regulated during symbiosis. A novel set of non-nodulating pea mutants in fourteen loci was examined, among which seven loci are not described in Lotus japonicus and Medicago truncatula. Mutants defective in Pssym10, Pssym8, Pssym19, Pssym9 and Pssym7 exhibited no PsENOD12a and PsENOD5 activation in response to Nod factor-producing rhizobia. Thus, a conserved signalling module from the LysM receptor kinase encoded by Pssym10 down to the GRAS transcription factor encoded by Pssym7 is essential for Nod factor-induced gene expression. Of the two investigated genes, PsENOD5 was more strictly regulated; not only requiring the SYM10-SYM7 module, but also SYM35 (NIN transcription factor), SYM14, SYM16 and SYM34. Since Pssym35, Pssym14, Pssym34 and Pssym16 mutants show arrested infection and nodule formation at various stages, PsENOD5 expression seems to be essential for later symbiotic events, when rhizobia enter into plant tissues. Activation of PsENOD12a only requires components involved in early steps of signalling and can be considered as a marker of early symbiotic events preceding infection.

RESUMO

The effects of photostimulation with different colors on α-rhythm amplitude and parameters of variation pulsometry were studied. Green color stimulation modulates human functions: ?-rhythm amplitude increases by 1.06 µV/√Hz (p<0.05) and the index of regulatory systems strain decreases significantly (p<0.05).

RESUMO

The study addresses the control of plant cell division and differentiation using the model of tumor-forming lines of radish. Expression of the genes involved in control of the cell cycle (CycD3), maintenance of meristematic cell activity (STM, WUS, and KNAT1), and primary response to cytokinin (ARR) was studied in inbred radish lines characterized by tumor growth at different stages of development. The influence of exogenic cytokinin on the expression of the genes of interest is analyzed. The possible role of the CycD3, KNAT1, STM, WUS, and ARR5 in tumor formation in radish is discussed.

RESUMO

The functional status of the oxidative-antioxidative system was studied in 72 patients after vast cancer operations. Traditional surgical treatment and its combination with intraoperative irradiation were shown to lead to tense antioxidative defense and to suppressed T-cell immunity and to call for antioxidative and immunomodulating therapy. High intraoperative blood loss complicated by hemorrhagic shock injured the oxidative-antioxidative system greatly. The magnitude of this damage correlated with the rate of prehypoxia. Addition of the potent antioxidant Ceruloplasmin to the drug regimen normalized a recovery period, helped to correct posthypoxic multiorgan insufficiency, to recover oxidative-antioxidative balance, and to decrease the incidence of pyoinflammatory complications. Patients with endogenous intoxication showed activated lipid peroxidation, decreased functional activity of antioxidative defense components and of T-cell immunity in homeostasis. The use of Ceruloplasmin and Laprot had pronounced antiinflammatory and detoxifying effects on the patient's body and activated its antioxidative defense.
