RESUMO

AIM: With the implementation of China's three-child policy in 2021, the nurse population faces an increase in the number of breastfeeding nurses returning to work after maternity leave. This study aims to describe the work experience of breastfeeding nurses returning to work after maternity leave. DESIGN: A qualitative descriptive design. METHODS: The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight nurses and analysed through Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis. RESULTS: Three themes and nine sub-themes emerged from the analysis of the interviews: changes in nurses (emotional changes, physical changes and changes in work); needs for an improving work environment (needs for a supportive workplace and nurse shortage); support for breastfeeding nurses (support from coworkers, support from the manager, support from the organisation and own need for work). PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: This study highlighted that breastfeeding nurses need an adjustment period when they return to work after maternity leave. Successful breastfeeding requires support from coworkers, managers and the organisation. In addition, workplace support for breastfeeding and management for nurses needs to be improved.

RESUMO

Propensity score approach is a popular technique for estimating the population based on volunteer web survey samples. Various models have been used to estimate propensity scores and produce different population estimates. To obtain more accurate population estimators, we propose a model-averaging estimation approach based on propensity score estimates from a parametric logistic regression model and a nonparametric generalized boosted model. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators are established. A computation algorithm is also developed to implement the proposed method. Simulation studies are conducted to compare the performance of the proposed method with the other methods. A survey data from the Netizen Social Awareness Survey (NSAS) is used to illustrate the proposed methodology.

RESUMO

Systems theory and Marxist philosophy are inextricably linked. Systems theory and Marxist philosophy are both methodologies in a sense and share the perspective of movement and development. The system theory is also embodied in the Marxist philosophy's conceptions of nature, social history, and epistemology. Studying the system theory in Marxist philosophy will undoubtedly benefit from having a solid understanding of the connection between system theory and that philosophy. It has become crucial to enhance the quality of instruction by analyzing student learning data and providing constructive criticism for teaching methods. The students' learning data from the course teaching Marxist philosophy and systems theory were mined and analyzed based on the Apriori algorithm, and strong association rules between the course teaching contents were generated. We can determine the challenging teaching material that has an impact on students' performance through the analysis of these generation rules, enabling teachers to use this feedback information to enhance their pedagogical approaches.

RESUMO

This systematic review evaluated the dietary experience of patients with obesity post-bariatric surgery. Scopus, CINAHL, Medline, Psych INFO, and Embase databases were searched and JBI Critical Appraisal Tool was used for quality assessment. Thomas and Harden's three-stage thematic synthesis was undertaken using the Enhancing transparency in reporting the synthesis of qualitative research (ENTREQ) statement for reporting. Of the 24 studies extracted, we coded and developed 34 descriptive themes into 7 categories, which were then categorized to 3 analytical themes. The number of all the participants in the 24 articles is 383 people. The results revealed most patients can control their diet for a short period post-surgery. However, this was a matter of gradual self-consciousness as patients also required support and dietary management in postoperative recovery. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: The protocol for this qualitative systematic review has been registered with PROSPERO (registration number CRD42021229083).

RESUMO

How do environmental heterogeneity influence propagation dynamics of the age-structured invasive species? We investigate this problem by considering a yearly generation invasive species in time-space periodic habitat. Starting from an age-structured population growth law, we formulate a reaction-diffusion model with time-space periodic dispersal, mortality and recruitment. Thanks to the fundamental solution for linear part of the model, we reduce to study the dynamics of a time-space periodic semiflow which is defined by the solution map. By the recent developed dynamical theory in Fang et al. (J Funct Anal 272:4222-4262, 2017), we obtained the spreading speed and its coincidence with the minimal wave speed of time-space periodic traveling waves, as well as the variational characterization of spreading speed in terms of a principal eigenvalue problem. Such results are also proved back to the reaction-diffusion model.

RESUMO

With the aging of the world's population, the quality of life of older adults is becoming more important. There are many studies on the use of Tai chi exercise, a popular form of mind-body exercise practiced by older adults. However, the effectiveness of Tai chi exercise on the quality of life of older adults is unclear. For this systematic review and meta-analysis, six databases (PubMed, CENTRAL, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus, CNKI) were searched in English and Chinese languages to screen for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCT), and their risk of bias was assessed by two independent reviewers. The results of quality of life, physical component, and psychological component among older adults were meta-analyzed using RevMan5.3 software. The search retrieved 2577 records. After screening, a total of 10 RCTs were included in this evaluation, with a total of 1170 participants. The meta-analysis showed that compared with the control group, Tai chi exercise had a significant impact on the overall quality of life (SMD=1.23; 95%CI: 0.56-1.98; P<0.0001), and on the physical component of quality of life (MD=5.90; 95%CI: 1.05-10.75; P=0.02), but no significant impact on the psychological component of quality of life. This study had high heterogeneity. The results of this study suggest the potential use of Tai chi exercise as an activity for increased quality of life in older adults. Future research may enhance experimental rigor and explore the rationale behind Tai chi exercise.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The aim was to study the mechanism of LncRNA FOXD3-AS1 in cutaneous melanoma. METHODS: FOXD3-AS1 levels in 47 pairs of melanoma samples were detected. We used qRT-PCR to detect FOXD3-AS1, miR-325 and MAP3K2 expression in different staging samples and cutaneous melanoma cell lines. We used Kaplan-Meier curve to analyze survival rate in patients with FOXD3-AS1 high and low expression. Sh-FOXD3-AS1, miR-325, miR-325 inhibitor and oeMAP3K2 were transfected. The proliferation of A375 and SK-MEL-1 was detected by CCK8 and EdU labeling assay and cell clone formation assay. Dual luciferase reporter assay and pull down assay was used to confirm the binding site of FOXD3-AS1, miR-325 and MAP3K2. Flow cytometry was applied to detect the effect of lncRNA on cell cycle. The migration and invasion ability were detected by transwell assay. RESULTS: LncRNA FOXD3-AS1 highly expressed in cutaneous melanoma cells and tissues. Patients with highly expressed LncRNA FOXD3-AS1 were always with shorter overall survival time. When LncRNA FOXD3-AS1 was knockdown, proliferation, invasion and migration of cutaneous malignant melanoma, and tumor weight was inhibited, and cell cycle was arrested. LncRNA FOXD3-AS1 negatively regulated the expression of miR-325, and then improved the level of MAP3K2. MiR-325 was with similarly effects on above biological process, and MAP3K2 overexpression could rescue the influence of sh-FOXD3-AS1. Tumor volume and weight were measured to confirm the effect of sh-FOXD3-AS1 in vivo. CONCLUSION: LncRNA FOXD3-AS1 could promote proliferation, invasion and migration of cutaneous malignant melanoma via regulating miR-325/MAP3K2 axis.

RESUMO

Previous research has shown that breathing exercises may improve the prognosis and health status in patients with lung cancer by enhancing pulmonary function and quality of life (QOL). However, individually published results are inconclusive. The aim of the present meta-analysis was to evaluate the clinical value of breathing exercises on post-operative pulmonary function and QOL in patients with lung cancer. A literature search of Pubmed, Embase, the Web of Science and CBM databases was conducted from their inception through to October 2012. Crude standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the effect of breathing exercises. A total of eight clinical studies were ultimately included with 398 lung cancer patients. When all the eligible studies were pooled into the meta-analysis, there was a significant difference between the pre-intervention and post-intervention results of breathing exercises on post-operative pulmonary function; forced expiratory volume in 1 sec (FEV1): SMD, 3.37; 95% CI, 1.97-4.77; P<0.001; FEV1/FVC: SMD, 1.77; 95% CI, 0.15-3.39; P=0.032). Furthermore, the QOL in patients with lung cancer was significantly improved following the intervention with breathing exercises; there were significant differences between the pre-intervention and post-intervention results on the ability of self-care in daily life (SMD, -1.00; 95% CI, -1.467 to -0.52; P<0.001), social activities (SMD, -0.94; 95% CI, -1.73 to -0.15; P=0.02), symptoms of depression (SMD, -0.91; 95% CI, -1.25 to -0.57; P<0.001) and symptoms of anxiety (SMD, -0.91; 95% CI, -1.20 to -0.63; P<0.001). Results from the present meta-analysis suggest that breathing exercises may significantly improve post-operative pulmonary function and QOL in patients with lung cancer.

RESUMO

Accumulating evidence suggests the CASP gene family is important in the development of carcinogenesis. These genetic polymorphisms have been extensively investigated as a potential risk factor for cancer, but results have been inconclusive. This Human Genome Epidemiology (HuGE) review and meta-analysis was performed to investigate the associations between CASP-1, -2 and -5 and cancer risk. A literature search of Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science and CBM databases was conducted from inception through September 1st, 2012. Four case-control studies with a total of 1,592 cancer cases and 1,833 healthy controls were included in the present meta-analysis. Crude odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the strength of association. Five polymorphisms were examined, including rs501192 (G>A), rs4647297 (C>G), rs507879 (T>C), rs3181320 (G>C) and rs523104 (G>C). Meta-analysis results showed that the rs3181320*C allele/carrier were associated with increased risk of various types of cancers (OR=1.26; 95% CI, 1.04-1.54; P=0.020 and OR=1.33; 95% CI, 1.00-1.75; P=0.047, respectively). However, similar associations were not found in the rs501192, rs4647297, rs507879 and rs523104 polymorphisms (all P>0.05). Results from the current meta-analysis suggest that the rs3181320*C allele/carrier in CASP-5 gene are potential risk factors for cancer.

RESUMO

The polyselenidoarsenates [Fe(phen)(3)][As(2)Se(6)] (1), [Zn(phen)(dien)][As(2)Se(6)]·2phen (2), [{Mn(phen)(2)}(2)(µ-η(2),η(2)-AsSe(4))](2)[As(2)Se(6)]·H(2)O (3), and [Ni(phen)(3)][As(2)Se(2)(µ-Se(3))(µ-Se(5))] (4) (dien = diethylenetriamine and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) were prepared by the reaction of As(2)O(3), Se, dien, and phen in the presence of transition metals in a methanol solvent under solvothermal conditions. Compounds 1-3 consist of [As(2)Se(6)](2-) anions with [Fe(phen)(3)](2+), [Zn(phen)(dien)](2+), and [{Mn(phen)(2)}(2)(µ-η(2),η(2)-AsSe(4))](+) complex counter cations, respectively. The [As(2)Se(6)](2-) anion is formed from two As(III)Se(3) trigonal pyramids linked through two Se-Se bonds. Compound 3 is the first example of a mixed-valent selenidoarsenate(III,V) and exhibits the coexistence of As(III)Se(3) trigonal pyramidal and As(V)Se(4) tetrahedral units. Compound 4 is composed of a helical chain of [As(2)Se(2)(µ-Se(3))(µ-Se(5))(2-)](∞) and octahedral [Ni(phen)(3)](2+) cations. The [As(2)Se(2)(µ-Se(3))(µ-Se(5))(2-)](∞) chain is constructed from AsSe(+) units alternatively linked by µ-Se(3)(2-) and µ-Se(5)(2-) bridging ligands. When the structures of compounds 1-4 are compared, the transition metal ions show different structural directing effects during the synthesis of arsenic polyselenides in methanol. Compounds 1, 2, 3, and 4 exhibit semiconducting properties with band gaps of 1.88, 2.29, 1.82, and 2.01 eV, respectively.

RESUMO

Novel cobalt polyselenidoarsenate [Co(phen)(3)][As(2)Se(2)(µ-Se(3))(µ-Se(5))] (1; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) was methanolothermally synthesized by the reaction of CoCl(2), As(2)O(3), and Se templated by phen in a CH(3)OH solvent at 130 °C. The same reaction in a H(2)O solvent yielded cobalt selenidoarsenate [Co(phen)(3)](2)[As(8)Se(14)] (2). In 1, the AsSe(+) units are alternately joined by the µ-Se(3)(2-) and µ-Se(5)(2-) bridging ligands to form a novel helical polyselenidoarsenate chain [As(2)Se(2)(µ-Se(3))(µ-Se(5))(2-)](∞). In 2, eight pyramidal AsSe(3) units are connected via corner sharing into the new member of the selenidoarsenate aggregate [As(8)Se(14)](4-) with a condensation grade of 0.571, which represents the first discrete selenidoarsenate(III) with a condensation grade of above 0.50. The octahedral complex [Co(phen)(3)](2+) is formed in situ to act as a countercation in compounds 1 and 2. 1 and 2 exhibit steep absorption band gaps at 2.09 and 2.16 eV, respectively.

RESUMO

Two systems, Ln/Sn/Se/en and Ln/Sn/Se/dien, were investigated under solvothermal conditions, and novel lanthanide selenidostannates [{Ce(en)(4)}(2)(µ-Se(2))]Sn(2)Se(6) (1a), [{Ln(en)(3)}(2)(µ-OH)(2)]Sn(2)Se(6) (Ln = Pr(1b), Nd(1c), Gd(1d); en = ethylenediamine), [{Ln(dien)(2)}(4)(µ(4)-Sn(2)Se(9))(µ-Sn(2)Se(6))](∞) (Ln = Ce(2a), Nd(2b)), and [Hdien][Gd(dien)(2)(µ-SnSe(4))] (2c) (dien = diethylenetriamine) were prepared and characterized. Two structural types of lanthanide selenidostannates were obtained across the lanthanide series in both systems. In the Ln/Sn/Se/en system, two types of binuclear lanthanide complex cations [Ce(2)(en)(8)(µ-Se(2))](4+) and [{Ln(en)(3)}(2)(µ-OH)(2)](4+) (Ln = Pr, Nd, Gd) were formed depending on the Ln(3+) ions. The complex cations are compensated by the [Sn(2)Se(6)](4-) anions. In the Ln/Sn/Se/dien system, coordination polymer [{Ln(dien)(2)}(4)(µ(4)-Sn(2)Se(9))(µ-Sn(2)Se(6))](∞) and ionic complex [Hdien][Gd(dien)(2)(µ-SnSe(4))] are obtained along the lanthanide series, among which the µ(4)-Sn(2)Se(9), µ-Sn(2)Se(6) and µ-SnSe(4) ligands to the Ln(3+) ions were observed. The formation of title complexes shows the effects of lanthanide metal size and amino ligand denticity on the lanthanide selenidostannates. Complexes 1a-2c exhibit semiconducting properties with band gaps between 2.08 and 2.48 eV.

RESUMO

Three solvothermal systems Ln/As/Se/en, Ln/As/Se/dien and Ln/As/Se/(en+trien) (Ln = lanthanide excluding Pm, en = ethylenediamine, dien = diethylenetriamine, trien = triethylenetetramine) were investigated in detail across the lanthanide series, and ternary lanthanide selenidoarsenates [Ln(en)(3)(H(2)O)(mu-eta(1),eta(1)-AsSe(4))] (Ln = La(1a), Ce(1b), Nd(1c)), [Ln(en)(4)]AsSe(4) x 0.5 en (Ln = Sm(1d), Gd(1e), Dy(1f)), [Ln(dien)(2)(mu-eta(1),eta(2)-AsSe(4))] (Ln = La(2a), Ce(2b), Pr(2c)), [Ln(en)(trien)(mu-eta(1),eta(2)-AsSe(4))] (Ln = La(3a), Nd(3b)) and [Sm(en)(trien)(eta(2)-AsSe(4))] (3c) were prepared. Systematic investigations of the three systems clarify the relationship between the molecular structures of the synthetic lanthanide selenidoarsenates and the metal size evolution of the lanthanide series. Meanwhile, the coordination modes of the [AsSe(4)](3-) tetrahedral anion to the same lanthanide ion are dependent on the denticity of ethylene polyamine as the second ligand. The lanthanide selenidoarsenates exhibit semiconducting properties with E(g) between 2.15 and 2.31 eV.

RESUMO

The solvothermal synthetic system Ln/Sb/Se (Ln = La, Eu) was investigated in different ethylene polyamines, and a series of lanthanum and europium selenidoantimonates [La(en)(2)(dien)(eta(2)-SbSe(4))] (Ia), [La(dien)(2)(mu-eta(1),eta(2)-SbSe(4))] (Ib), [La(trien)(2)(H(2)O)]SbSe(4) (Ic), [La(en)(trien)(mu-eta(1),eta(2)-SbSe(4))] (Id), [Eu(en)(2)(dien)(SbSe(4))] (IIa), [Eu(en)(trien)(eta(2)-SbSe(4))] (IIb), and [Eu(dien)(2)(eta(2)-SbSe(4))] (IIc) (en = ethylenediamine, dien = diethylenetriamine, trien = triethylenetetramine) were prepared. A systematic investigation of the crystal structures showed that the soft Lewis basic ligand [SbSe(4)](3-) can be tuned to coordinate to the hard Lewis acidic lanthanide ions as a monodentate ligand, mono-SbSe(4); a bidentate chelating ligand, eta(2)-SbSe(4); or a tridentate bridging ligand, mu-eta(1),eta(2)-SbSe(4), by the ethylene polyamines or mixed ethylene polyamines used in the syntheses. The [SbSe(4)](3-) anion exhibited different coordination modes for La(3+) and Eu(3+) ions in the presence of the same ethylene polyamine because of the different coordination numbers of La(3+) and Eu(3+) ions.

RESUMO

Novel hydrogen-bonded supramolecular thioarsenates [Fe(phen)(3)][As(3)S(6)] x dien x 7 H(2)O (1) and [Mn(2)(phen)(4)(As(2)S(5))] x phen x 2 H(2)O (2) (dien = diethylenetriamine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. The structure of 1 consists of [As(3)S(6)](3-)-H(2)O anionic layers and [Fe(phen)(3)](3+)-dien cationic layers assembled via O-H...S and O-H...N hydrogen-bonding interactions. The layers stack alternately and are parallel to each other to give a 3D network structure with channels accommodating unique branched water chains, which are anchored on the anionic and cationic layers via hydrogen bonds. In 2, the [As(2)S(5)](4-) anion acts as a tetradentate brigding ligand via four terminal S atoms to link two [Mn(phen)(2)](2+) cations, forming the neutral complex [Mn(2)(phen)(4)(As(2)S(5))]. This is a new coordination mode for the [As(2)S(5)](4-) ion. [Mn(2)(phen)(4)(As(2)S(5))], phen, and H(2)O form a 3D network structure via O-H...S, O-H...O, and pi-pi stacking interactions.
