RESUMO

Thermoelectric technology has potential for converting waste heat into electricity. Although traditional thermoelectric materials exhibit extremely high thermoelectric performances, their scarcity and toxicity limit their applications. Zinc oxide (ZnO) emerges as a promising alternative owing to its high thermal stability and relatively high Seebeck coefficient, while also being earth-abundant and nontoxic. However, its high thermal conductivity (>40 W m-1K-1) remains a challenge. In this study, we use a multi-step strategy to achieve a significantly high dimensionless figure-of-merit (zT) value of approximately 0.486 at 580 K (estimated value) by interfacing graphene quantum dots with 3D nanostructured ZnO. Here, we show the fabrication of graphene quantum dots interfaced 3D ZnO, yielding the highest zT value ever reported for ZnO counterparts; specifically, our experimental results indicate that the fabricated 3D GQD@ZnO exhibited a significantly low thermal conductivity of 0.785 W m-1K-1 (estimated value) and a remarkably high Seebeck coefficient of - 556 µV K-1 at 580 K.

BACKGROUNDS: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic and systemic autoimmune disease characterized by synovial inflammation-mediated progressive destruction of the cartilage and bone, resulting in reduced quality of life. We primed human telomerase reverse transcriptase-overexpressing immortalized human adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (iMSCs) with serum derived from a non-human primate RA model and studied the immunomodulatory ability of exosomes obtained from primed iMSCs. METHODS: After immunophenotyping, nanoparticle tracking analysis, and in vitro functional tests, Dulbecco's phosphate-buffered saline (dPBS, Group C), exosomes derived from the supernatant of iMSCs (Exo-FBS, Group E), exosomes derived from the supernatant of iMSCs primed with RA serum (Exo-RA, Group F), and methotrexate (Group M) were administered in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model mice. dPBS was administered to the normal (N) group for comparison (n = 10/group). RESULTS: Exo-RA had a significantly higher number of exosomes compared to Exo-FBS when measured with nanoparticle tracking analysis or exosome marker CD81, and Transforming growth factor-ß1 amounts were significantly higher in Exo-RA than in Exo-FBS. When Exo-FBS or Exo-RA was administered to the collagen-induced arthritis model, serum interleukin (IL)-4 and the proportion of Th2 (CD4+CD25+GATA3+) and M2 (CD11c - CD206+ of CD45+CD64+) cells were significantly increased compared to the control group. Furthermore, Exo-RA could alleviate cartilage damage by significantly lowering the concentrations of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α, keratinocyte chemoattractant, and IL-12p70. CONCLUSION: Exosomes derived from disease-condition-serum-primed iMSCs ameliorated cartilage damage in a RA model by enhancing TGF-ß1 production, inducing Th2 and M2 polarization and lowering proinflammatory cytokines, TNF-α, KC, and IL-12p70 in the host. Patient-derived serum can be used as an iMSC priming strategy in iMSC-derived exosome treatment of RA.

This study investigated the seasonal occurrence of bark and woodboring Coleoptera in Pinus densiflora (Pinales: Pinaceae), and Larix kaempferi (Pinales: Pinaceae) stands using multifunnel traps baited with pine volatiles in Korea. The number and species of bark and woodboring beetles caught in traps baited with ethanol, α-pinene, and ethanol+α-pinene were compared to determine the effective attractants. In addition, the effects of other pine volatiles, such as (-)-ß-pinene, ß-caryophyllene, (±)-limonene, ß-myrcene, and 3-carene, were investigated. A total of 13,134 woodboring beetles from 150 species were collected from pine and larch stands from 2019 to 2020. Tomicus minor (Hartig) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) adults were more attracted to traps baited with α-pinene, whereas Xyleborinus saxesenii (Ratzeburg) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Cyclorhipidion pelliculosum (Eichhoff) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), and Phloeosinus pulchellus (Blandford) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) adults were more attracted to traps baited with ethanol. Hylurgops interstitialis (Chapuis) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Shirahoshizo genus group, Rhagium inquisitor (Linne) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), and Rhadinomerus maebarai (Voss & Chûjô) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) were more frequently attracted to traps baited with ethanol+α-pinene than to traps baited with other attractants. The addition of 3-carene to ethanol+α-pinene enhanced the capture of H. interstitialis, R. inquisitor, and Hylobius (Callirus) haroldi (Faust) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae).

Upregulation of the expression of Delta/notch-like epidermal growth factor-related receptor (DNER) and its oncogenic role have been reported in several cancers, including gastric, breast, and prostate cancers. This study aimed to investigate the oncogenic role of DNER and the mechanisms behind its oncogenic role in gastric cancer. Analysis of the RNASeq data of gastric cancer tissues obtained from the TCGA database revealed that the expression of DNER was associated with the pathology of advanced gastric cancer and the prognosis of patients. DNER expression was increased upon stem cell-enriching cancer spheroid culture. Knockdown of DNER expression inhibited cell proliferation and invasion, induced apoptosis, enhanced chemosensitivity, and decreased spheroid formation of SNU-638 gastric cancer cells. DNER silencing elevated the expression of p53, p21cip/waf, and p27, and increased G1 phase cells at the expense of S phase cells. Knockdown of p21cip/waf expression in the DNER-silenced cells partially restored cell viability and S phase progression. DNER silencing also induced the apoptosis of SNU-638 cells. While both cleaved caspases-8 and 9 were detected in adherent cells, only cleaved caspase-8 was found to have increased in spheroid-cultured cells, suggesting a distinct activation pattern of caspase activation depending on the growth condition. Knockdown of p53 expression rescued the DNER-silenced cells from apoptosis and partially restored cell viability. In contrast, overexpression of the Notch intracellular domain (NICD) decreased the expression of p53, p21cip/waf, and cleaved caspase-3 in DNER-silenced cells. Moreover, NICD expression fully reverted the cell viability reduction, arrest in the G1 phase, and elevated apoptosis caused by DNER silencing, thereby suggesting activation of Notch signaling by DNER. Expression of a membrane-unbound mutant of mDNER also decreased cell viability and induced apoptosis. On the other hand, TGF-ß signals were found to be involved in DNER expression in both adherent and spheroid-cultured cells. DNER could therefore be a link connecting TGF-ß signaling to Notch signaling. Taken together, DNER regulates cell proliferation, survival, and invasive capacity of the gastric cancer cells through the activation of Notch signaling, which may facilitate tumor progression into an advanced stage. This study provides evidences suggesting that DNER could be a potential prognostic marker, a therapeutic target, and a drug candidate in the form of a cell-free mutant.

Recently, insufficient attractiveness of Conogethes punctiferalis Guenée adult males to sex pheromone, -(E)-10-hexadecenal and (Z)-10-hexadecenal, has been reported. To identify the other essential components of sex pheromone, male and female body extracts were analyzed. Two hydrocarbon components, (Z)-9-heptacosene (Z9-27:HC) and (3Z,6Z,9Z)-tricosatriene (Z3,Z6,Z9-23:HC), were identified from only female body extract. There was a significant difference in the electroantennogram (EAG) response of male antennae to Z3,Z6,Z9-23:HC and Z9-27:HC at all test concentrations compared to the response to the hexane control. In field attraction testing, the addition of Z9-27:HC and Z3,Z6,Z9-23:HC to binary aldehyde pheromones significantly increased trap catches of C. punctiferalis male adults. Based on the female and male body extract analysis and field attraction test, Z9-27:HC and Z3,Z6,Z9-23:HC were determined to be other essential sex pheromone components of the Korean C. punctiferalis population. No significant difference was observed in the number of male captures between the bucket trap and delta trap. Pheromone traps with a color close to yellow shade attracted more male adults than traps with a color close to blue shade.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been widely applied to the regeneration of damaged tissue and the modulation of immune response. The purity of MSC preparation and the delivery of MSCs to a target region are critical factors for success in therapeutic application. In order to define the molecular identity of an MSC, the gene expression pattern of a human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (hBMSC) was compared with that of a human embryonic fibroblast (hEF) by competitive hybridization of a microarray. A total of 270 and 173 genes were two-fold up- and down-regulated with FDR < 0.05 in the hBMSC compared to the hEF, respectively. The overexpressed genes in the hBMSC over the hEF, including transcription factors, were enriched for biological processes such as axial pattern formation, face morphogenesis and skeletal system development, which could be expected from the differentiation potential of MSCs. CD70 and CD339 were identified as additional CD markers that were up-regulated in the hBMSC over the hEF. The differential expression of CD70 and CD339 might be exploited to distinguish hEF and hBMSC. CMKLR1, a chemokine receptor, was up-regulated in the hBMSC compared to the hEF. RARRES2, a CMKLR1 ligand, stimulated specific migration of the hBMSC, but not of the hEF. RARRES2 manifested as ~two-fold less effective than SDF-1α in the directional migration of the hBMSC. The expression of CMKLR1 was decreased upon the osteoblastic differentiation of the hBMSC. However, the RARRES2-loaded 10% HA-silk scaffold did not recruit endogenous cells to the scaffold in vivo. The RARRES2−CMKLR1 axis could be employed in recruiting systemically delivered or endogenous MSCs to a specific target lesion.

(9Z,11E)-tetradecadienyl acetate (9Z,11E-14:OAc) and (3Z,6Z,9Z,12Z,15Z)-pentacosapentaene (C25 pentaene), known as the sex pheromone of the European Dioryctria abietella population, were identified in the Korean D. abietella population. The ratio of 9Z,11E-14:OAc to C25 pentaene extracted from female pheromone glands was 1:23. The electroantennogram (EAG) response of male antennae to 9Z,11E-14:OAc was stronger than to C25 pentaene, whereas an opposite EAG response was observed in female antennae. Major volatile compounds in mature Korean pine cone (Pinus koraiensis), such as limonene, myrcene, and (-)-α-pinene, elicited dose-dependent EAG responses of male and female antennae. In field attraction testing, traps baited with 100:1,000, 100:2,000, and 100:3,000 ug of 9Z,11E-14:OAc to C25 pentaene were the most attractive to male D. abietella. More males were attracted to traps baited with 9Z,11E-14:OAc+C25 pentaene+limonene than traps baited with 9Z,11E-14:OAc+C25 pentaene. This showed that limonene acted as a synergist to sex pheromone. Delta traps, wing traps, and diamond traps were superior to bucket traps for capturing D. abietella males. This study showed that pheromone traps baited with 100:1,000 ~ 100:3,000 ug of 9Z,11E-14:OAc to C25 pentaene and limonene will be useful for the exact monitoring of D. abietella flight phenology in Pinus koraiensis Sieb. & Zucc. (Pinales: Pinaceae) forests.

Objectives: Gordon syndrome (GS), also known as pseudohypoaldosteronism type II, is a rare tubular disease characterized by hypertension, hyperkalemia, and metabolic acidosis. Its causative genes are CUL3, KLHL3, WNK1, and WNK4, and they are associated with varying severity of the disease. Herein, we report the first case of GS caused by a CUL3 mutation in a patient with short stature in Korea.Case presentation: A 7-year-old boy had hypertension, metabolic acidosis, and persistent hyperkalemia, which were initially detected during the evaluation of short stature. He was born small for gestational age at late preterm gestation. Laboratory test findings showed hyperkalemia with low trans-tubular potassium gradient, hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis with a normal anion gap, and low plasma renin levels. Genetic analysis revealed a heterozygous de novo mutation in the CUL3 gene (c.1377+1G > C in intron 9). Thus, a diagnosis of GS was made. The results of the endocrine function test (including growth hormone stimulation tests) were normal. After thiazide treatment, the patient's electrolyte levels were normalized. However, he presented with persistent hypertension and short stature.Conclusions: GS should be considered in children with short stature, hypertension, and hyperkalemia, and early treatment may reduce complications.

The expression of pluripotency factors, and their associations with clinicopathological parameters and drug response have been described in various cancers, including gastric cancer. This study investigated the association of pluripotency factor expression with the clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer patients, as well as changes in the expression of these factors upon the stem cell-enriching spheroid culture of gastric cancer cells, regulation of sphere-forming capacity, and response to cisplatin and TRAIL treatments by Nanog and KLF4. Nanog expression was significantly associated with the emergence of a new tumor and a worse prognosis in gastric cancer patients. The expression of the pluripotency factors varied among six gastric cancer cells. KLF4 and Nanog were expressed high in SNU-601, whereas SOX2 was expressed high in SNU-484. The expression of KLF4 and SOX2 was increased upon the spheroid culture of SNU-601 (KLF4/Nanog-high) and SNU-638 (KLF4/Nanog-low). The spheroid culture of them enhanced TRAIL-induced viability reduction, which was accompanied by the upregulation of death receptors, DR4 and DR5. Knockdown and overexpression of Nanog in SNU-601 and SNU-638, respectively, did not affect spheroid-forming capacity, however, its expression was inversely correlated with DR4/DR5 expression and TRAIL sensitivity. In contrast, KLF4 overexpression in SNU-638 increased spheroid formation, susceptibility to cisplatin and TRAIL treatments, and DR4/DR5 expression, while the opposite was found in KLF4-silenced SNU-601. KLF4 is supposed to play a critical role in DR4/DR5 expression and responses to TRAIL and cisplatin, whereas Nanog is only implicated in the former events only. Direct regulation of death receptor expression and TRAIL response by KLF4 and Nanog have not been well documented previously, and the regulatory mechanism behind the process remains to be elucidated.

Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC) is a neurovisceral lysosomal storage disorder caused by mutations in the NPC1 and NPC2 genes. These mutations cause the accumulation of unesterified cholesterol and other lipids in the lysosomes. NPC has a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations, depending on the age of onset. A 15-day-old infant presented at the Seoul National University Children's Hospital with neonatal cholestasis and hepatosplenomegaly, with the onset of jaundice at 5 days of age. Despite supportive treatment, the patient was considered for a liver transplant because of progressive liver failure. Unfortunately, the patient died from gastrointestinal bleeding before undergoing the transplant. The neonatal cholestasis gene panel revealed two novel likely pathogenic variants in the NPC1 gene (c.1145C>G [p.Ser382*] and c.2231_2233del [p.Val744del]). The patient was diagnosed with NPC, and both parents were found to be carriers of each variant. In infants presenting with neonatal cholestasis, a gene panel can help diagnose NPC.

BACKGROUND: Tay-Sachs disease (TSD) is a lysosomal storage disease caused by mutations in the HEXA gene that encodes the HexosaminidaseA (HEXA) enzyme. As HEXA normally functions to degrade the protein GM2-ganglioside in lysosomes, decreased levels of HEXAcauses an accumulation of the protein and leads to neurological toxicity. Typical clinical manifestations of TSD include neurodevelopmental regression, muscle weakness, hypotonia, hyperreflexia, ataxia, seizures, and other neurological symptoms. It is quite rare in Asian populations, wherein only two cases have been reported in Korea to date. METHODS: Clinical records, radiological assessments, and laboratory findings, such as plasma hexosaminidase assay and HEXA analysis, were extracted from the medical records of three (1 male and 2 female) independent Korean children with infantile form of Tay-Sachs disease. RESULTS: All three children presented with neurodevelopmental regression and strabismus at around 8 months of age. Presence of cherry-red spots in the macula led to conduction of biochemical and genetic studies for TSD confirmation. The plasma hexosaminidase assay revealed decreased HEXA activity and low to normal total hexosaminidase activity. Similarly, genetic analysis revealed 4 variants from 6 alleles, including 2 previously reported and 2 novel variants, in the HEXA gene. CONCLUSION: We presented three Korean children, who were recently diagnosed with infantile-type TSDvia enzyme assay and genetic analysis. Furthermore, results showed that fundus examination can be helpful for early diagnosis of children with neurodevelopmental regression.

Melanotransferrin (CD228), firstly reported as a melanoma-associated antigen, is a membrane-bound glycoprotein of an iron-binding transferrin homolog. CD228 was found to be expressed significantly higher in human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hBM-MSC) than in human embryonic fibroblasts (FB) by RT-PCR, western blotting and flow cytometry. The expression of CD228 declined in aged hBM-MSC as osteogenesis-related genes did. We examined a possible role for CD228 in the regulation of osteogenesis and adipogenesis of hBM-MSC. Surprisingly, siRNA-mediated CD228 knockdown increased the expression of the transcription factor DLX5 and enhanced osteogenesis of hBM-MSC evidenced by an increased expression of the runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), osterix (Osx), and osteocalcin (OC), as well as higher alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and extracellular calcium deposition. Interestingly, hBM-MSC transfected with CD228 siRNA also showed an increase in intracellular lipid level during adipogenesis, indicated by oil red O staining of differentiated adipocytes. Overall, our study unveils CD228 as a cell surface molecule expressed by young hBM-MSC, but not by FB. It also provides evidence to suggest a role for CD228 as a negative regulator of osteogenesis and of lipid accumulation during adipogenesis in hBM-MSC in vitro.

The dotted white geometrid moth, Naxa seriaria Motschulsky (Lepidoptera: Geometridae), is a pest of Oleaceae in Korea, Japan, and China. In this study, we identified (3Z,6Z,9Z,12Z,15Z)-heneicosapentaene (C-21 pentaene) as the only compound in extracts of the pheromone glands of female N. seriaria causing a response from receptors on the antennae of males in analyses by gas chromatography with electroantennographic detection. The synthetic sex pheromone elicited dose-dependent electrophysiological responses from antennae of male N. seriaria. In field tests, more male moths were captured in traps baited with synthetic C-21 pentaene than in unbaited traps, and increasing the loading of C-21 pentaene in the lure increased catches of male moths. Significantly more male N. seriaria moths were caught in delta traps than in bucket traps. Based on these results, C-21 pentaene is proposed to be the major, if not the only, component of the sex pheromone of N. seriaria.

We report changes in viral load over time in a 27-day-old neonate with coronavirus disease 2019 who presented with fever, cough, and vomiting. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 RNA was detected in the nasopharynx, oropharynx, stool, saliva, plasma, and urine. The highest viral RNA copies in nasopharynx decreased over time while viral load in stool remained high.

We investigated the repellent effect of 12 Apiaceae plant essential oils on nymphal and adult (male and female) forms of the bean bug, Riptortus clavatus (Thunberg) (Hemiptera: Alydidae), using a four-arm olfactometer. Among the essential oils tested, ajowan (Trachyspermum ammi Sprague) essential oil showed the strongest repellent activity against the nymphal and adult bean bugs. For female adults, the repellent activity was significantly different between an ajowan oil-treated chamber and an untreated chamber down to a concentration of 14.15 µg/cm2. We also investigated the repellent activity of individual ajowan essential oil constituents. Of the compounds examined, carvacrol and thymol showed the most potent repellent activity against the nymphal and adult bean bugs. Carvacrol and thymol exhibited 73.08% and 70.0% repellent activity for the bean bug nymph at 0.71 and 2.83 µg/cm2, respectively, and 82.6% and 80.7% at 5.66 and 11.32 µg/cm2, respectively, for male adults. Carvacrol and thymol exhibited strong repellent activity against female adult bean bugs down to a concentration of 2.83 µg/cm2. Ajowan essential oil, thymol and carvacrol elicited a negative electroantennogram (EAG) response from adult bean bugs. This could explain the repellent activity of ajowan essential oil and its constituents. Our results indicate that ajowan essential oil and its constituents carvacrol and thymol can be potential candidates as the 'push' component in a 'push-pull' strategy for bean bug control.

The tumor suppressor p53 is involved in the DNA damage response and induces cell cycle arrest or apoptosis upon DNA damage. Drosophila p53 encodes two isoforms, p53A and p53B, that induce apoptosis in somatic cells. To investigate the roles of Drosophila p53 isoforms in female germline cells, the DNA damage response was analyzed in the adult ovary. Early oogenesis was sensitive to irradiation and lok-, p53-, and hid-dependent cell death occurred rapidly after both low- and high-dose irradiation. Both p53 isoforms were responsible for this cell death. On the other hand, delayed cell death in mid-oogenesis was induced at a low level only after high-dose irradiation in a p53-independent manner. The daily egg production, which did not change after low-dose irradiation, was severely reduced after high-dose irradiation in p53 mutant females due to the loss of germline stem cells. When the p53A or p53B isoform was expressed in the germline cells in the p53 mutant females at levels that do not affect normal oogenesis, p53A, but not p53B, restored the fertility of the irradiated female. In summary, moderate expression of p53A is critical to maintain the function of germline stem cells during normal oogenesis as well as after high-dose irradiation.

As persons with stroke are surviving longer, monitoring and managing their quality of life is becoming important. We reviewed the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) in order to evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in stroke survivors as measured by the Euro Quality of Life-5D (EQ-5D), and to find out influencing factors. A total of 42,500 subjects were enrolled in the KNHANES, and 575 of them were persons with stroke. The EQ-5D index was lower in persons with stroke than those without stroke, when adjusted for age and sex (with stroke: 0.757±0.012, without stroke: 0.948±0.001, p < .0001). Dimension-specific influencing factors of HRQoL were observed in persons with stroke; mobility problems increased with old age; self-care problems increased with old age and depression; usual activity problems increased with old age, low income, absence of economic activity, and depression; pain/discomfort problems increased with low income. The EQ-5D index was lower in stroke survivors with older age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and lack of regular exercise. This is the first study to utilize nationally representative data of the Korean population to investigate the effect of stroke on HRQoL and explore the dimension-specific influencing factors. Further development of rehabilitative interventions for post-stroke depression, vocational rehabilitation, and tailored programs for encouraging physical activity may be needed to improve the HRQoL in Korean stroke survivors.

BACKGROUND: Claspin and TopBP1 are checkpoint mediators that are required for the phosphorylation of Chk1 by ATR to maintain genomic stability. Here, we investigated the functions of Drosophila Claspin and mus101 (TopBP1 ortholog) during chorion (eggshell component) gene amplification, which occurs in follicle cells in the absence of global genomic DNA replication. RESULTS: Unlike Drosophila mei-41 (ATR ortholog) mutant embryos, Claspin and mus101 mutant embryos showed severe eggshell defects resulting from defects in chorion gene amplification. EdU (5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine) incorporation assay during initiation and elongation stages revealed that Claspin and mus101 were required for initiation, while only Claspin had a major role in the efficient progression of the replication forks. Claspin proteins were enriched in the amplification foci both in the initiation and elongation stage-follicle cell nuclei in a mei-41-independent manner. The focal localization of ORC2, a component of the origin recognition complex, was not significantly affected in the Claspin mutant, whereas it was reduced in the mus101 mutant. CONCLUSIONS: Drosophila Claspin plays a major role in the initiation and elongation stages of chorion gene amplification by localizing to the amplification foci in a mei-41-independent manner. Drosophila mus101 is also involved in chorion gene amplification, mostly functioning in initiation, rather than elongation. GV1001 is a telomerase-based cancer vaccine made of a 16-mer telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) peptide, and human TERT, the rate-limiting subunit of the telomerase complex, is an attractive target for cancer vaccination. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of telomerase peptide vaccination, GV1001 combined with gemcitabine in treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocardinoma (PDAC). Human PDAC cell lines were used in vitro experiment and also, PDAC xenograft mice model was established using PANC1, AsPC1 and CD133+ AsPC1 (PDAC stem cell). Treatment groups were divided as follows; control, gemcitabine, GV1001, gemcitabine and GV1001 combination. The inflammatory cytokines were measured from the blood, and xenograft tumor specimens were evaluated. GV1001 treatment alone did not affect the proliferation or the apoptosis of PDAC cells. Gemcitabine alone and gemcitabine with GV1001 groups had significantly reduced in tumor size and showed abundant apoptosis compared to other treatment groups. Surprisingly, xenograft PDAC tumor specimens of gemcitabine alone group had been replaced by severe fibrosis whereas gemcitabine with GV1001 group had significantly less fibrosis. Blood levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1ß increased in gemcitabine alone group, however, it was decreased in gemcitabine with GV1001 group. GV1001 combined with gemcitabine treatment showed significant loss of fibrosis in tumor tissue as well as tumor cell death. Therefore, further investigation of GV1001 effect combined with gemcitabine treatment may give us useful insights to overcome the hurdle in anti-cancer drug delivery over massive fibrosis around PDACs.
