RESUMO

The objective of this study is to illustrate the advantages of robot-assisted unilateral biportal endoscopy in lumbar decompression fusion and internal fixation surgery. According to the different surgical methods, we divided the 26 patients into 2 groups, robot-assisted unilateral biportal endoscopy for lumbar interbody fusion (R-ULIF) group and percutaneous endoscopic lumbar decompression and interbody fusion (Endo-LIF) group, with a 1:1 ratio. Gender, disease course, lesion site, fluoroscopy times, operative time, blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, screw placement success rate, fusion rate, complications rate, postoperative pain visual analog scale (VAS) (The VAS score is used only to evaluate pain in the lower back and legs.) Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) (The ODI score can serve as a reference indicator for evaluating the effectiveness of treatment for patients with low back pain, and has good responsiveness in assessing patients with chronic low back pain), and MacNab (The MacNab standard is divided into 4 levels: excellent, good, fair, and poor, which can be used to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of certain spinal surgeries) standard efficacy evaluation were analyzed and compared between the 2 groups. All patients successfully completed the surgery. Compared with the Endo-LIF group, the R-ULIF group had fewer fluoroscopy procedures, less intraoperative blood loss, and shorter postoperative hospital stay (P < .05). The VAS scores and ODI scores of both groups significantly decreased at all-time points (P < .05). The ODI scores of the R-ULIF group were better than the Endo-LIF group at 1 month and 3 months after surgery (P = .017/P = .047), but there was no statistically significant difference between the groups before surgery and 1 week after surgery (P > .05). The efficacy was evaluated using the MacNab criteria at 6 months after surgery. The R-ULIF group has an excellent and good rate of 84.6%, while the Endo-LIF group has an excellent and good rate of 76.9% (P = 1.000). Robot-assisted unilateral biportal endoscopy for lumbar interbody and fusion surgery has shown short-term clinical efficacy in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation combined with lumbar instability, surpassing endoscopic lumbar interbody fusion surgery. Robot-assisted unilateral biportal endoscopy for lumbar interbody and fusion surgery has demonstrated high success rate in screw placement, minimal radiation exposure, less intraoperative blood loss, shorter hospital stay, and thus deserves further clinical promotion.

RESUMO

The brain-computer interface (BCI) system serves as a critical link between external output devices and the human brain. A monitored object's mental state, sensory cognition, and even higher cognition are reflected in its electroencephalography (EEG) signal. Nevertheless, unprocessed EEG signals are frequently contaminated with a variety of artifacts, rendering the analysis and elimination of impurities from the collected EEG data exceedingly challenging, not to mention the manual adjustment thereof. Over the last few decades, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has contributed to the development of BCI technology. Algorithms derived from AI and machine learning have significantly enhanced the ability to analyze and process EEG electrical signals, thereby expanding the range of potential interactions between the human brain and computers. As a result, the present BCI technology with the help of AI can assist physicians in gaining a more comprehensive understanding of their patients' physical and psychological status, thereby contributing to improvements in their health and quality of life.

RESUMO

Effectively incorporating technology into teaching and learning can be accomplished through the application of information and communication technology (ICT). Nonetheless, the extent to which ICT is employed in educational environments is heavily impacted by numerous factors. Teachers' ICT integration in China was investigated with the aim of identifying the specific factors that influence it. The research sample consists of 680 educators, and it highlights three primary elements that affect their adoption of ICT: attitudes, self-efficacy, and digital competence. Employing a partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method, the results indicate that all three elements play a significant role in the effective integration of ICT by educators. The study also indicated the mediating effect of attitudes and digital competence. Furthermore, the research identified no substantial disparities in the factors based on sex or age, except for the correlation between self-efficacy and attitudes. By providing useful insights for the development of successful instructional designs that integrate ICT, this study contributed to the advancement and impact of educational technology.

RESUMO

Decay-accelerating factor (DAF) is an essential member of the complement regulatory protein family that plays an important role in immune response and host homeostasis in mammals. However, the immune function of DAF has not been well characterized in bony fish. In this study, a complement regulatory protein named CiDAF was firstly characterized from Ctenopharyngodon idella and its potential roles were investigated in intestine following bacterial infection. Similar to mammalian DAFs, CiDAF has multiple complement control protein (CCP) functional domains, suggesting the evolutionary conservation of DAFs. CiDAF was broadly expressed in all tested tissues, with a relatively high expression level detected in the spleen and kidney. In vivo immune challenge experiments revealed that CiDAF strongly responded to bacterial pathogens (Aeromonas hydrophila and Aeromonas veronii) and PAMPs (lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or muramyl dipeptide (MDP)) challenges. In vitro RNAi experiments indicated that knockdown of CiDAF could upregulate the expression of complement genes (C4b, C5 and C7) and inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1ß and IL-8). Moreover, 2000 ng/mL of CiDAF agonist progesterone effectively alleviated LPS- or MDP-induced intestinal inflammation by regulating expression of complement factors, TLR/PepT1 pathway genes and inflammatory cytokines. Overall, these findings revealed that CiDAF may act as a negative regulator of intestinal complement pathway and immune response to bacterial challenge in grass carp.

RESUMO

Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) is an intensively cultured and economically important herbivorous fish species in China, but its culture is often impacted by Aeromonas pathogens such as Aeromonas hydrophila and Aeromonas veronii. In this study, healthy grass carp were separately infected with A. hydrophila or A. veronii for 12, 24, 48 or 72 h. The results showed that the mRNA expression levels of intestinal inflammatory factors (tnf-α, il-1ß and il-8), complement factors (c3 and c4), antimicrobial peptides (hepcidin, nk-lysin and ß-defensin-1), immunoglobulins (igm and igt), and immune pathway-related signaling molecules (tlr1, tlr2, tlr4, myd88, irak4, irak1, traf6, nf-κb p65 and ap-1) were differentially upregulated in response to A. hydrophila and A. veronii challenge. Additionally, the expression levels of the intestinal pro-apoptotic genes tnfr1, tnfr2, tradd, caspase-8, caspase-3 and bax were significantly increased, whereas the expression of the inhibitory factor bcl-2 was significantly downregulated, indicating that Aeromonas infection significantly induced apoptosis in the intestine of grass carp. Moreover, the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins (occludin, zo-1, claudin b and claudin c) was significantly decreased after infection with Aeromonas. Histopathological analysis indicated the Aeromonas challenge caused severe damage to the intestinal villi with adhesions and detachment of intestinal villi accompanied by severe inflammatory cell infiltration at 12 h and 72 h. The 16S rRNA sequencing results showed that Aeromonas infection significantly altered the structure of the intestinal microflora of the grass carp at the phylum (Proteobacteria, Fusobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes) and genus (Proteus, Cetobacterium, Bacteroides, and Aeromonas) levels. Take together, the findings of this study revealed that Aeromonas infection induces an intestinal immune response, triggers cell apoptosis, destroys physical barriers and alters microflora structure in the intestine of juvenile grass carp; the results will help to reveal the pathogenesis of intestinal bacterial diseases in grass carp.

RESUMO

RATIONALE: Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is an aggressive form of cancer, with cutaneous metastasis being a rare occurrence. Furthermore, cutaneous metastasis of SDC secondary to a scald is even rarer, and to the best of our knowledge, our case represents the first such instance. Considering the involvement of the fingers in the metastatic site, which may affect limb function and quality of life, we present this case to explore the reason why scald could lead to distant recurrence and better treatment options. PATIENT CONCERNS: An 85-year-old man diagnosed with SDC in the parotid gland found enlarged masses at the fingertips as a consequence of a burn, 6 years after his initial treatment. DIAGNOSES: Cutaneous metastasis of SDC in the parotid gland and left thumb loss due to surgery. INTERVENTIONS: Radiotherapy was offered, targeting at the masses on the fingers, with dose at 15 Gy in 3 fractions, 12 Gy in 3 fractions, 15 Gy in 3 fractions for both hands and additional 21 Gy in 7 fractions only for left hand. OUTCOMES: The tumors shrank after 2 months of radiotherapy and the patient recovered well. Side effects included nail hyperplasia and paronychia. LESSONS: Connections between scald and distant metastasis of malignant tumors in this case needed further investigation. Considering reserving function of the fingers while dealing with metastasis, radiotherapy is recommended rather than surgery.

RESUMO

This research presents a novel approach for the dynamic monitoring of onion-like carbon nanoparticles inside colorectal cancer cells. Onion-like carbon nanoparticles are widely used in photothermal cancer therapy, and precise 3D tracking of their distribution is crucial. We proposed a limited-angle digital holographic tomography technique with unsupervised learning to achieve rapid and accurate monitoring. A key innovation is our internal learning neural network. This network addresses the information limitations of limited-angle measurements by directly mapping coordinates to measured data and reconstructing phase information at unmeasured angles without external training data. We validated the network using standard SiO2 microspheres. Subsequently, we reconstructed the 3D refractive index of onion-like carbon nanoparticles within cancer cells at various time points. Morphological parameters of the nanoparticles were quantitatively analyzed to understand their temporal evolution, offering initial insights into the underlying mechanisms. This methodology provides a new perspective for efficiently tracking nanoparticles within cancer cells.

RESUMO

The use of wetland plants in the context of phytoremediation is effective in the removal of antibiotics from contaminated water. However, the effectiveness and efficiency of many of these plants in the removal of antibiotics remain undetermined. In this study, the effectiveness of two plants-Phragmites australis and Iris pseudacorus-in the removal of tetracycline (TC) in hydroponic systems was investigated. The uptake of TC at the roots of I. pseudacorus and P. australis occurred at concentrations of 588.78 and 106.70 µg/g, respectively, after 7-day exposure. The higher uptake of TC in the root of I. pseudacorus may be attributed to its higher secretion of root exudates, which facilitate conditions conducive to the reproduction of microorganisms. These rhizosphere-linked microorganisms then drove the TC uptake, which was higher than that in the roots of P. australis. By elucidating the mechanisms underlying these uptake-linked outcomes, we found that the uptake of TC for both plants was significantly suppressed by metabolic and aquaporin inhibition, suggesting uptake and transport of TC were active (energy-dependent) and passive (aquaporin-dominated) processes, respectively. The subcellular distribution patterns of I. pseudacorus and P. australis in the roots were different, as expressed by differences in organelles, cell wall concentration levels, and transport-related dynamics. Additionally, the microbe-driven enhancement of the remediation capacities of the plants was studied comprehensively via a combined microbial-phytoremediation hydroponic system. We confirmed that the microbial agents increased the secretion of root exudates, promoting the variation of TC chemical speciation and thus enhancing the active transport of TC. These results contribute toward the improved application of wetland plants in the context of antibiotic phytoremediation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This reported procedure combines the orthopedic surgical robot with the unilateral biportal endoscopy-lumbar interbody fusion (UBE-LIF), utilizing the UBE's wide viewing field and operating space to perform minimally invasive decompressive fusion of the lesioned segment, and the orthopedic surgical robot's intelligence and precision to perform percutaneous pedicle screw placement. The advancement of this procedure lies in the superposition of advantages and offsetting disadvantages of the two new technologies, and the maximum effect of treatment is achieved with maximum minimization of invasiveness and precision under the monitoring of imaging instruments to maximize the benefit of patients, and this review reports a case of multiple-segment lumbar decompression and fusion surgery for lumbar disc herniation via robot-assisted UBE for reference. CASE SUMMARY: A 44-year-old patient presented to our hospital. Combining various clinical data, we diagnosed the patient with lumbar disc herniation with radiculopathy, lumbar spondylolisthesis, and lumbar spinal stenosis. We developed a surgical plan of "UBE decompression + UBE-LIF + orthopedic surgery robot-assisted percutaneous pedicle screw implantation for internal fixation". The results were satisfactory. CONCLUSION: We present an extremely rare case of multiple-segment lumbar decompression and fusion surgery for lumbar disc herniation via robot-assisted UBE and achieved good results. Therefore, the technique is worthy of clinical promotion.

RESUMO

Flexible surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates adaptable to strains enable effective sampling from irregular surfaces, but the preparation of highly stable and sensitive flexible SERS substrates is still challenging. This paper reports a method to fabricate a high-performance strain-adaptable SERS substrate by self-assembly of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanowrinkles. Nanowrinkles are created on prestrained PDMS slabs by plasma-induced oxidation followed by the release of the prestrain, and self-assembled AuNPs are transferred onto the nanowrinkles to construct the high-performance SERS substrate. The results show that the nanowrinkled structure can improve the surface roughness and enhance the SERS signals by ∼4 times compared to that of the SERS substrate prepared on flat PDMS substrates. The proposed SERS substrate also shows good adaptability to dynamic bending up to ∼|0.4| 1/cm with excellent testing reproducibility. Phenolic pollutants, including aniline and catechol, were quantitatively tested by the SERS substrate. The self-assembled flexible SERS substrate proposed here provides a powerful tool for chemical analysis in the fields of environmental monitoring and food safety inspection.

RESUMO

The incidence of urothelial carcinoma continues to rise annually, particularly among the elderly. Prompt diagnosis and treatment can significantly enhance patient survival and quality of life. Urine cytology remains a widely-used early screening method for urothelial carcinoma, but it still has limitations including sensitivity, labor-intensive procedures, and elevated cost. In recent developments, microfluidic chip technology offers an effective and efficient approach for clinical urine specimen analysis. Digital holographic microscopy, a form of quantitative phase imaging technology, captures extensive data on the refractive index and thickness of cells. The combination of microfluidic chips and digital holographic microscopy facilitates high-throughput imaging of live cells without staining. In this study, digital holographic flow cytometry was employed to rapidly capture images of diverse cell types present in urine and to reconstruct high-precision quantitative phase images for each cell type. Then, various machine learning algorithms and deep learning models were applied to categorize these cell images, and remarkable accuracy in cancer cell identification was achieved. This research suggests that the integration of digital holographic flow cytometry with artificial intelligence algorithms offers a promising, precise, and convenient approach for early screening of urothelial carcinoma.

RESUMO

Purpose: This study analyzes the relationship of alexithymia, childhood trauma, and body investment to non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behaviors in adolescents with depressive disorder and whether they have predictive and diagnostic value for non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behaviors in adolescents with depressive disorder. Patients and methods: A total of 225 patients with a diagnosis of adolescent depressive disorder were included in the study and were divided into two groups according to the DSM-5 criteria: 98 cases without NSSI and 127 cases with NSSI. Compare the demographic data, 24-item Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-24), 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF), and Body Investment Scale (BIS) scores between two groups. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the independent risk factors contributing to NSSI behaviors in adolescents with depression, and establish four predictive models. Based on the models' predictive probability, the ROC curves were plotted to calculate the value of the predictive diagnostic effect. Results: The group without NSSI had lower scores than the group with NSSI on HAMD-24 total score, TAS-20 total score, difficulty identifying feelings, difficulty describing feelings, and externally focused thinking, as well as lower scores on CTQ-SF total score, physical neglect, emotional neglect, physical abuse, and emotional abuse. In contrast, the BIS total score, body image feelings and attitudes, body care, and body protection factor scores were higher for the group without NSSI. The BIS body care factor score and the CTQ-SF emotional abuse factor score were significantly linked with adolescents diagnosed with depressive disorder who exhibited NSSI behaviors. These results provide a good diagnostic model for adolescents with depressive disorder. Conclusion: Low levels of body care and childhood emotional abuse may independently contribute to the implementation of NSSI in adolescents with depressive disorder. Body investment and childhood trauma are valuable in diagnosing and predicting NSSI behaviors and should be considered as potentially important factors in clinical treatment.

RESUMO

Based on Boyd's "Observation Orientation-Decision-Action (OODA)" aerial combat theory and the principles of operational success, an analysis of the operational division patterns for cross-generational human-machine collaboration was conducted. The research proposed three stages in the development of aerial combat human-machine fusion intelligence: "Human-Machine Separation, Functional Coordination," "Human-Machine Trust, Task Coordination," and "Human-Machine Integration, Deep Fusion." Currently, the transition from the first stage to the second stage is underway, posing challenges primarily related to the lack of effective methods guiding experimental research on human-machine fusion interaction and trust. Building upon the principles of decision neuroscience and the theory of supply and demand relationships, the study analyzed the decision-making patterns of human-machine fusion intelligence under different states. By investigating the correlations among aerial combat mission demands, dynamic operational limits of human-machine tasks, and aerial combat mission performance, a theoretical model of human-machine fusion interaction and trust was proposed. This model revealed the mechanistic coupling of human-machine interactions in aerial tasks, aiming to optimize the decision-making processes of human-machine systems to enhance mission performance. It provides methodological support for the design and application of intelligent collaborative interaction modes in aviation equipment.

RESUMO

Throughout history, rivers and lakes have wielded a profound influence on the dynamics of urban transportation expansion. To illustrate this phenomenon, we turn to the century-long evolution of the road network in Wuhan, China, as a case study. The study aims to explore the relationship framework between water bodies and urban transportation, characterized by the sequence of "strong connection" to "weakened connection", then to "mutual restriction", and ultimately to "mutual benefit". Additionally, the analysis of the impact mechanisms of rivers and lakes on urban transportation at different stages of development is also a key research objective. To facilitate our exploration, we select the road networks in Wuhan from four years of 1922, 1969, 1995, and 2023 as the primary research subjects. By establishing water buffers, we scrutinize the evolving characteristics of riverside and lakeside transportation amidst the city's expansion. Based on the modified shortest path model, we introduce the innovative concepts of "Detour Index" and "Weighted Detour Index" to assess the road accessibility of each node in the city based on its inherent environmental conditions. This allows for the effective analysis of the potential impact of water bodies as "obstacles" on the road network at different stages of urban development. The study found that in the areas adjacent to the rivers and lakes in Wuhan, there is insufficient road accessibility based on their inherent environmental conditions. Particularly, some areas along the rivers may become "terminals" in the urban road network. Furthermore, during the process of urban expansion, the correlation between the urban road network and rivers continues to weaken, while the correlation with lakes continues to strengthen. These conclusions can provide valuable insights for the planning of urban roads near water bodies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Surgical treatment for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and inferior vena cava (IVC) tumor thrombus (TT) is difficult, and the postoperative complication rate is high. This study aimed to explore the safety and oncologic outcomes of neoadjuvant stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) combined with surgical treatment for RCC and IVC-TT. METHODS: Patients with RCC and IVC-TTs were enrolled in this study. All patients received neoadjuvant SABR focused on the IVC at a dose of 30 Gy in 5 fractions, followed by 2 ~ 4 weeks of rest. Then, radical nephrectomy and IVC tumor thrombectomy were performed for each patient. Adverse effects, perioperative outcomes, and long-term prognoses were recorded. RESULTS: From June 2018 to January 2019, 8 patients were enrolled-4 with Mayo grade II TT and 4 with Mayo grade III TT. Four (50%) patients had complicated IVC wall invasion according to CT/MRI. All patients received neoadjuvant SABR as planned. Short-term local control was observed in all 8 patients. Only Grade 1-2 adverse events were reported. In total, 3 (37.5%) laparoscopic surgeries and 5 (62.5%) open surgeries were performed. The median operation time was 359 (IQR: 279-446) min, with a median intraoperative bleeding volume of 750 (IQR: 275-2175) ml. The median postoperative hospital stay was 7 (5-10) days. With a 26-month (range: 5-41) follow-up period, the estimated mean overall survival was 30.67 ± 5.38 months. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first preoperative radiotherapy study in Asia that focused on patients with TT. This study revealed the considerable safety of neoadjuvant SABR for RCC with IVC-TT. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trials Registry on 2018-03-08 (ChiCTR1800015118). RESUMO

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a cutting-edge technique for highly sensitive analysis of chemicals and molecules. Traditional SERS-active nanostructures are constructed on rigid substrates where the nanogaps providing hot-spots of Raman signals are fixed, and sample loading is unsatisfactory due to the unconformable attachment of substrates on irregular sample surfaces. A flexible SERS substrate enables conformable sample loading and, thus, highly sensitive Raman detection but still with limited detection capabilities. Stretchable SERS substrates with flexible sample loading structures and controllable hot-spot size provide a new strategy for improving the sample loading efficiency and SERS detection sensitivity. This review summarizes and discusses recent development and applications of the newly conceptual stretchable SERS substrates. A roadmap of the development of SERS substrates is reviewed, and fabrication techniques of stretchable SERS substrates are summarized, followed by an exhibition of the applications of these stretchable SERS substrates. Finally, challenges and perspectives of the stretchable SERS substrates are presented. This review provides an overview of the development of SERS substrates and sheds light on the design, fabrication, and application of stretchable SERS systems.

RESUMO

Sweat is a noninvasive metabolite that can provide clinically meaningful information about physical conditions without harming the body. Glucose, a vital component in sweat, is closely related to blood glucose levels, and changes in its concentration can reflect the health status of diabetics. We introduce a self-adhesive, wearable microfluidic chip with erasable liquid metal plasmonic hotspots for the precise detection of glucose concentration in sweat. The self-adhesive, wearable microfluidic chip is made from modified polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with enhanced stickiness, enabling conformal contact with the skin, and can collect, deliver, and store sweat. The plasmonic hotspots are located inside the microfluidic channel, are generated by synthesizing silver nanostructures on liquid metal, and can be removed in the alkaline solution. It indicates the erasable and reproducible nature of the plasmonic hotspots. The detection method is based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), which allows for accurate detection of the glucose concentration. To enhance the sensitive detection of glucose, the SERS substrate is modified by 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid to achieve the limit of detection of 1 ng/L glucose, which is much lower than the physiological conditions (7.2-25.2 µg/L). The developed microfluidic chip is soft, stretchable, and nontoxic, bringing new possibilities to wearable sweat-sensing devices.

RESUMO

There have been many analytical methods for natural estrogens in commercial dairy milk samples, but in most of which, only four major estrogens (estrone (E1), 17ß-estradiol (E2), estriol (E3), and 17α-estradiol (αE2)) were included. This work developed an effective GC-MS analytical method for simultaneous analysis of twelve natural estrogens in commercial dairy milk sample, in which eight far-less well-known natural estrogens (2-hydroxyestone (2OHE1), 4-hydroxyestrone (4OHE1), 2-hydroxyestradiol (2OHE2), 4-hydroxyestradiol (4OHE2), 16-epiestriol (16epiE3), 16α-hydroxyestrone (16αOHE1), 16-ketoestradiol (16ketoE2) and 17epiestriol (17epiE3)) were included besides the four major natural estrogens. With liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction, twelve natural estrogens in commercial dairy milk could be effectively extracted. The established method showed good linearity (R2 > 0.9991), low limits of detections (LODs, 0.02-0.11 ng/g), as well as excellent recoveries (64-117%) with satisfactory low relative standard deviations (RSDs, 0.8-14.7%). This established method was applied to seven commercial dairy milk samples, and all the twelve natural estrogens were frequently detected except for 4OHE2 without detection in any sample. Our results showed that the concentration contribution ratios of the eight far-less well-known natural estrogens in commercial dairy milk samples contributed to 32-83%, while the corresponding contribution ratios based on estrogen equivalence (EEQ) were 21-62%. This work highlighted the high abundance of the eight far-less well-known natural estrogens in commercial dairy milk based on both concentration and EEQ, which has been neglected for a long time.

RESUMO

Liposarcomas originating in the urinary bladder are extremely rare. Only six cases of bladder liposarcoma have been reported, and all have been described as myxoid liposarcomas. Notably, none of the patients underwent molecular testing. Here, we report a dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDL) that occurred in the urinary bladder, primarily in a 69-year-old Chinese woman, with infrequent low-grade dedifferentiation. Computed tomography (CT) revealed an ill-defined solid mass in the anterior bladder wall. The patient underwent a partial bladder resection. Histologically, the tumor cells with mild-to-moderate nuclear atypia were arranged in fascicular and storiform patterns, mimicking a low-grade fibroblastic tumor. In addition, scattered small foci of typical lipoma-like well-differentiated components were identified. Immunohistochemically, the tumor tested positivity for MDM2, CDK4, and p16. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed MDM2 gene amplification in the neoplastic cells. Whole-exome sequencing showed that this tumor also harbored CDK4, TSPAN31, and JUN amplification. At the latest follow-up (85 months after surgery), the patient was alive, with no evidence of disease. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of a molecularly confirmed primary bladder liposarcoma and the first case of DDL at this site.
