RESUMO

Carbon materials are regarded as a promising adsorbent for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, their adsorption behaviors are usually compromised at ambient conditions, attributed to the competitive VOCs adsorption with water vapor. In this study, we demonstrated that the selectivity for toluene than water of carbon can be effectively enhanced by introducing more sp2-carbon with two-dimensional nanosheets stacked. The multilayer carbon nanosheets enriched with sp2-carbon (CNS-MCA) exhibit a 151° H2O-contact angle, indicating hydrophobicity. Dynamic adsorption behaviors revealed that CNS-MCA retain 71% of their toluene adsorption capacity (91 mg/g) even at 60% relative humidity. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations, static adsorption studies, in situ Raman spectroscopy, and time-resolved in situ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy collectively indicate that toluene exhibits enhanced adsorption and selectivity due to π-π* interactions between its aromatic rings and the sp2-carbon. Conversely, water adsorption is attenuated, attributed to the reduced availability of surface-exposed hydrogen bonds associated with sp2-carbon and the inherent hydrophobic nature of multilayer graphene. This study extends a novel solution for the enhancement of VOCs adsorption under humid conditions.

Objective: This study synthesized the highest level of evidence to analyse the effectiveness and safety of using extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) to treat upper limb tendonitis, which was unknown. Design: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 18 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Medline, and the Cochrane Library. Methods: Two researchers performed the screening, data extraction, literature quality assessment, and heterogeneity analysis of the searched RCTs. Results: The main types of morbidity included rotator cuff tendonitis, lateral epicondylitis, finger tendonitis, and long bicipital tendonitis. The results of the meta-analysis showed that ESWT was effective in relieving pain in all four types of tendonitis. In addition, ESWT was more effective in relieving pain in patients with upper limb tendonitis than placebo at the 3- and 6-month follow-ups, especially with radial ESWT (RESWT). Data analysis of the forest plot showed that the experimental group with ESWT as an intervention had a significant improvement in function in patients with rotator cuff tendonitis at the 3-month follow-up. However, subgroup analysis showed that low-energy ESWT was effective in improving function in patients with calcified and non-calcified rotator cuff tendonitis, whereas it was not effective in relieving pain. Conclusion: ESWT can effectively improve the functional activity in patients with rotator cuff tendonitis and may produce positive analgesic effects in patients with upper limb tendonitis. Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a serious vascular disease. Currently, no effective methods are available for treating DFUs. Pro-protein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) regulates lipid levels to promote atherosclerosis. However, the role of PCSK9 in DFUs remains unclear. In this study, we found that the expression of PCSK9 in endothelial cells (ECs) increased significantly under high glucose (HG) stimulation and in diabetic plasma and vessels. Specifically, PCSK9 promotes the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase NEDD4 binding to vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), which led to the ubiquitination of VEGFR2, resulting in its degradation and downregulation in ECs. Furthermore, PCSK9 suppresses the expression and activation of AKT, endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), and ERK1/2, leading to decreased nitric oxide (NO) production and increased superoxide anion (O2._) generation, which impairs vascular endothelial function and angiogenesis. Importantly, using evolocumab to limit the increase in PCSK9 expression blocked the HG-induced inhibition of NO production and the increase in O2._ production, as well as inhibited the phosphorylation and expression of AKT, eNOS, and ERK1/2. Moreover, evolocumab improved vascular endothelial function and angiogenesis, and promoted wound healing in diabetes. Our findings suggest that targeting PCSK9 is a novel therapeutic approach for treating DFUs.

BACKGROUND: Poor cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) health is associated with premature mortality and excess morbidity in the United States. Adverse social conditions have a prominent impact on cardiometabolic diseases during the life course. We aim to examine the association between social risk profile (SRP) and CKM multimorbidity among US adults. METHODS AND RESULTS: We used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999 to 2018. The definition of CKM syndrome is the coexistence of subclinical or clinical cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic disorders. We classified participants by 4 CKM stages according to the different clinical severity of different forms of CKM syndrome. We calculated the summed number of positive SRP measures, including employed, high-income level, food secure, high education attainment, private insurance, owning a house, and married, as SRP scores and classified them into 4 levels by quartiles: low (0-2), lower-middle (3-4), upper-middle (5-6), and high (7-8). A total of 18 373 US adults, aged 20 to 79 years, were included in our analyses. There were 2567 (9.4%) participants with low SRP score level. Most individual SRP measures and a combined SRP score were associated with CKM stages. Compared with high SRP score level, low SRP level was associated with higher odds of having CKM stage 1 (odds ratio [OR], 1.34 [95% CI, 1.06-1.70]), CKM stage 2 (OR, 2.03 [95% CI, 1.59-2.58]), CKM stage 3 (OR, 5.28 [95% CI, 3.29-8.47]), and CKM stage 4 (OR, 5.97 [95% CI, 4.20-8.49]). CONCLUSIONS: Cumulative social disadvantage, denoted by higher SRP burden, was associated with higher odds of CKM multimorbidity, independent of demographic and lifestyle factors.

Okra is susceptible to browning during storage. The effects of konjac glucomannan/microcapsule of thymol edible coating (TKL) on antioxidant activity and reactive oxygen (ROS) synthesis of okra during low-temperature storage were investigated. Thymol edible coating of thymol concentration 40 mg/mL (TKL40) had a regulatory effect on okra browning. After 14 days of storage, compared with the control group, the weight loss rate of TKL was reduced by 5.26 %, the hardness was increased by 24.14 %, and the L⁎ value was increased by 31 %. Moreover, TKL40 increased the scavenging capacity of okra for DPPH and ABTS free radicals, and activated catalase and superoxide dismutase activities by promoting the accumulation of total phenolics and flavonoids. TKL40 also reduced the cell membrane damage of okra during low-temperature storage by reducing the increase of malondialdehyde and H2O2 during okra storage. Meanwhile, it delayed the increase of relative conductivity and the production of O2.-, inhibited the activity of polyphenol oxidase in the late stage, so reduced the combination of polyphenol oxidase and phenolics to reduce the browning. Therefore, TKL40 reduces okra pericarp browning by regulating antioxidant activity and ROS synthesis.

An depth understanding of the fundamental interactions between surface termination and catalytic activity is crucial to prompt the properties of functional perovskite materials. The elastic energy due to size mismatch and electrostatic attraction of the charged Sr dopant by positively charged oxygen vacancies induced inert A-site surface enrichment rearrangement for perovskites. Lower temperatures could reduce A-site enrichment, but it is difficult to form perovskite crystals. La0.8Sr0.2CoO3-δ (LSCO) as a model perovskite oxide was modified with additive urea to reduce the crystallization temperature, and suppress Sr segregation. The LSCO catalysts with 600 °C annealing temperature (LSCO-600) exhibited a 19.4-fold reaction reactivity of toluene oxidation than that with 800 °C annealing temperature (LSCO-800). Combined surface-sensitive and depth-resolved techniques for surface and sub-surface analysis, surface Sr enrichment was effectively suppressed due to decreased oxygen vacancy concentration and smaller electrostatic driving force. DFT calculations and in-situ DRIFTs spectra well revealed that tuning the surface composition/termination affected the intrinsic reactivity. The catalyst surface with lower Sr enrichment could easily adsorb toluene, cleave, and decompose benzene rings, thus contributing to toluene degradation to CO2. This work demonstrates a green and efficient way to control surface composition and termination at the atomic scale for higher catalytic activity.

As the largest organ in the human body, skeletal muscle is essential for breathing support, movement initiation, and maintenance homeostasis. It has been shown that programmed cell death (PCD), which includes autophagy, apoptosis, and necrosis, is essential for the development of skeletal muscle. A novel form of PCD called ferroptosis is still poorly understood in relation to skeletal muscle. In this study, we observed that the activation of ferroptosis significantly impeded the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts into myotubes and concurrently suppressed the expression of OTUB1, a crucial deubiquitinating enzyme. OTUB1-silenced C2C12 mouse myoblasts were used to investigate the function of OTUB1 in ferroptosis. The results show that OTUB1 knockdown in vitro significantly increased C2C12 ferroptosis and inhibited myogenesis. Interestingly, the induction of ferroptosis resulting from OTUB1 knockdown was concomitant with the activation of autophagy. Furthermore, OTUB1 interacted with the P62 protein and stabilized its expression by deubiquitinating it, thereby inhibiting autophagy-dependent ferroptosis and promoting myogenesis. All of these findings demonstrate the critical role that OTUB1 plays in controlling ferroptosis, and we suggest that focusing on the OTUB1-P62 axis may be a useful tactic in the treatment and prevention of disorders involving the skeletal muscle.

Ethylene response factor (ERF) is a class of plant-specific transcription factors that play an important role in plant growth, development, and stress response. However, the underlying mechanism of strawberry ERFs in pathogenic responses against Botrytis cinerea (B. cinerea) remains largely unclear. In this study, we isolated FaERF2, a nucleus-localized ERF transcription factor from Fragaria x ananassa. Transiently overexpressing FaERF2 in strawberry fruits significantly enhances their resistant ability to B. cinerea, while silencing FaERF2 in strawberry fruits enhances their susceptibility to B. cinerea. In addition, we found that FaERF2 could directly bind to the cis-acting element GCC box in the promoters of two ß-1,3-glucanase genes, FaBG-1 and FaBG-2, and activate their expression. Finally, both strawberry fruits transient expression followed by B. cinerea inoculation assays and recombinant protein incubation tests collectively substantiated the inhibitory effect of FaBG-1 and FaBG-2 on B. cinerea mycelium growth. These results revealed the molecular regulation mechanism of FaERF2 in response to B. cinerea and laid foundations for creating disease-resistance strawberry cultivar through genome editing approach.

The mechanism by which aging induces aortic aneurysm and dissection (AAD) remains unclear. A total of 430 participants were recruited for the screening of differentially expressed plasma microRNAs (miRNAs). We found that miR-1204 is significantly increased in both the plasma and aorta of elder patients with AAD and is positively correlated with age. Cell senescence induces the expression of miR-1204 through p53 interaction with plasmacytoma variant translocation 1, and miR-1204 induces vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) senescence to form a positive feedback loop. Furthermore, miR-1204 aggravates angiotensin II-induced AAD formation, and inhibition of miR-1204 attenuates ß-aminopropionitrile monofumarate-induced AAD development in mice. Mechanistically, miR-1204 directly targets myosin light chain kinase (MYLK), leading to the acquisition of a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) by VSMCs and loss of their contractile phenotype. MYLK overexpression reverses miR-1204-induced VSMC senescence, SASP and contractile phenotypic changes, and the decrease of transforming growth factor-ß signaling pathway. Our findings suggest that aging aggravates AAD via the miR-1204-MYLK signaling axis.

The impact of water on catalyst activity remains inconclusive due to its dependence on the specific reaction environment. To maximize the exploitation of water's promoting effect, we employed ammonia selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) as a probe reaction and proposed a phosphorus modification strategy for Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts. The objective of this approach was to construct water-adaptive microstructures through directional arrangement. To investigate the effect of phosphorus on the transformation of framework copper sites in humid environments, we conducted comprehensive characterizations and density functional theory calculation. Results reveal that water molecules cleave the oxygen bridges between phosphorus oxide and copper, leading to the formation of active isolated [Cu(OH)]+ groups and phosphate. The phosphate species weaken the interaction between exchanged Cu2+ groups and the zeolite framework, leading to the generation of highly migratory hydrated Cu2+ species. This work will potentially guide the rational design of water-adaptive catalysts for gas pollution abatement in a humid environment.

HfO2-based ferroelectric materials as the most promising candidate for the ferroelectric memories, have been widely studied for more than a decade due to their excellent ferroelectric properties and CMOS compatibility. In order to realize its industrialization as soon as possible, researchers have been devoted to improving the reliability performance, such as wake up, imprint, limited endurance, et al. Among them, the breakdown characteristic is one of main failure mechanisms of HfO2-based ferroelectric devices, which limits the write/read reliability of the devices. Based on this, we systematically studied the effect of thickness on the time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) tolerate capability of HfO2-ZrO2(HZO) FE films under both forward and reverse electrical stress conditions. The thickness of HZO FE film ranged from 6 to 20 nm. Our findings reveal that decreasing the thickness of the HZO FE film leads to an improvement in TDDB tolerance capability which is attributed to the fact that higher density of oxygen vacancies in thinner HZO FE films can effectively inhibit the generation of new oxygen vacancies and the growth of conductive filaments, thus effectively improving the TDDB characteristics. These results provide a potential solution for mitigating breakdown characteristics of HfO2-based ferroelectric devices in memory applications.

BACKGROUND: In patients with schizophrenia, there is abnormal regional functional synchrony. However, whether it also in patients with adolescent-onset schizophrenia (AOS) remains unclear. The goal of this study was to analyze the regional homogeneity (ReHo) of resting functional magnetic resonance imaging to explore the functional abnormalities of the brain in patients with AOS. METHODS: The study included 107 drug-naive first-episode AOS patients and 67 healthy, age, sex, and education-matched controls using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans. The ReHo method was used to analyze the imaging dataset. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the ReHo values of the right inferior frontal gyrus orbital part, right middle frontal gyrus (MFG.R), left inferior parietal, but supramarginal and angular gyri, and left precentral gyrus (PreCG.L) were significantly increased and the ReHo value of the left posterior cingulate cortex/anterior cuneiform lobe was significantly decreased in schizophrenia patients. ROC analysis showed that the ReHo values of the MFG.R and PreCG.L might be regarded as potential markers in helping to identify patients. Furthermore, the PANSS scores in the patient group and the ReHo values showed a positive correlation between MFG.R ReHo values and general scores. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested that AOS patients had ReHo abnormalities. The ReHo values of these abnormal regions may serve as potential imaging biomarkers for the identification of AOS patients.

Cannabidiol (CBD), as one of the phytocannabinoids, has a wide range of therapeutic properties for various neuropsychiatric disorders due to central nervous system effects. These therapeutic properties demonstrated by preclinical and clinical studies encompass more than just anticonvulsant, anti-arthritic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, antiemetic, antipsychotic and neuroprotective effects. It has been hypothesized that CBD holds potential in the treatment of various neuropsychiatric and anxiety disorders. Thus, PRISMA was used as a guide for our systematic review. Eight of the 1550 articles screened in June 2023 were eligible for meta-analysis. Based on the 316 participants included in these eight articles, this meta-analysis revealed a substantial significant impact of CBD on anxiety with a considerable effect size (Hedges' g = -0.92, 95% CI -1.80 to -0.04). In addition, this meta-analysis focuses on the efficacy of CBD in treating anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, caution should be exercised in interpreting our findings due to the limited size of the clinical sample, and additional trials ought to be carried out if deemed necessary.

Plants respond to cold stress at multiple levels, including increasing cytosolic calcium (Ca2+) influx and triggering the expression of cold-responsive genes. Here we show that the Ca2+-permeable channel CYCLIC NUCLEOTIDE GATED CHANNEL20 (CNGC20) positively regulates freezing tolerance in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) by mediating cold-induced Ca2+ influx. Moreover, we demonstrate that the leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase PLANT PEPTIDE CONTAINING SULFATED TYROSINE1 RECEPTOR (PSY1R) is activated by cold, phosphorylating and enhancing the activity of CNGC20. The psy1r mutant exhibited decreased cold-evoked Ca2+ influx and freezing tolerance. Conversely, COLD-RESPONSIVE PROTEIN KINASE1 (CRPK1), a protein kinase that negatively regulates cold signaling, phosphorylates and facilitates the degradation of CNGC20 under prolonged periods of cold treatment, thereby attenuating freezing tolerance. This study thus identifies PSY1R and CRPK1 kinases that regulate CNGC20 activity and stability, respectively, thereby antagonistically modulating freezing tolerance in plants.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the concurrent, long-term, and future adverse events and assess the trend of adverse events in pediatric patients with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) after transcatheter closure. METHODS: A total of 1590 patients underwent transcatheter PDA closure were enrolled, including 465 patients (median age = 22 months) in the training group and 1125 patients in the validation group. Logistic regression analysis was used to assess independent risk factors associated with concurrent adverse events after closure. The chi-square test was used to evaluate the 5-year follow-up trend. RESULTS: Multivariable logistic regression analysis indicated that low age, female, and high pulmonary end diameter were independent risk factors for concurrent adverse events after closure. For patients without concurrent adverse events and for those who with concurrent adverse events but return to normal, the Chi-square test showed no abnormal results at the 5-year follow-up. Furthermore, the follow-up data of the validation group were not significantly different from those of the training group. CONCLUSION: The value of long-term follow-up of children may be limited for those who did not have a concurrent adverse event after closure nor for those who had a concurrent adverse event after closure but returned to normal during the 5-year follow-up period. IMPACT: Follow-up monitoring of adverse events tended to be recommended in pediatric patients with PDA after transcatheter closure. However, follow-up in these pediatric patients is expensive and there is a risk of sedation for echocardiography examination frequently. ·Patients who had no concurrent adverse events after closure did not show any abnormality at 5-year follow-up. ·Most of the patients who had concurrent adverse events after closure returned to normal at 5-year follow-up. The value of long-term follow-up may be limited for the above patients after transcatheter PDA closure.

Mitochondrial dynamics has emerged as an important target for neuronal protection after cerebral ischaemia/reperfusion. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism by which ARMC10 regulation of mitochondrial dynamics affects mitochondrial function involved in ischaemic stroke (IS). Mitochondrial morphology was detected by laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM), and mitochondrial ultrastructural alterations were detected by electron microscopy. The expression of mitochondrial dynamics-related genes Drp1, Mfn1, Mfn2, Fis1, OPA1 and ARMC10 and downstream target genes c-Myc, CyclinD1 and AXIN2 was detected by RT-qPCR. Western blot was used to detect the protein expression of ß-catenin, GSK-3ß, p-GSK-3ß, Bcl-2 and Bax. DCFH-DA fluorescent probe was to detect the effect of ARMC10 on mitochondrial ROS level, Annexin V-FITC fluorescent probe was to detect the effect of ARMC10 on apoptosis, and ATP assay kit was to detect the effect of ARMC10 on ATP production. Mitochondrial dynamics was dysregulated in clinical IS samples and in the OGD/R cell model, and the relative expression of ARMC10 gene was significantly decreased in IS group (p < 0.05). Knockdown and overexpression of ARMC10 could affect mitochondrial dynamics, mitochondrial function and neuronal apoptosis. Agonist and inhibitor affected mitochondrial function and neuronal apoptosis by targeting Wnt/ß-Catenin signal pathway. In the OGD/R model, ARMC10 affected mitochondrial function and neuronal apoptosis through the mechanism that regulates Wnt/ß-catenin signalling pathway. ARMC10 regulates mitochondrial dynamics and protects mitochondrial function by activating Wnt/ß-catenin signalling pathway, to exert neuroprotective effects.

PURPOSE: Robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA) was developed to improve the precision and accuracy of implant placement in conventional TKA. However, the angular differences between referenced axes in robot-assisted TKA and conventional TKA remain unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the angular differences in sagittal alignment between robot-assisted TKA and conventional TKA for both the femur and the tibia and to discuss their clinical implications. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of data from 100 patients (97 patients) who underwent computed tomography (CT) for Mako TKA. We measured the angle between the robot femoral axis (RFA) and conventional femoral axis (CFA) in the sagittal plane and the angle between the robot tibial axis (RTA) and the conventional tibial axis (CTA). Angles were compared between the sexes. Correlation analysis was conducted between the angles and height. RESULTS: In the sagittal plane, the mean RFA-CFA angle was 2.2° ± 1.6°, and the mean RTA-CTA angle was 2.3° ± 1.6°. There were no significant differences between the two angles among males and females (p > 0.05). There was a correlation between the RFA-CFA angle and RTA-CTA angle (p < 0.001, r = 0.33), and there was a correlation between height and the combination of the RFA-CFA angle and RTA-CTA angle (p = 0.03, r = 0.22). CONCLUSION: There are angular differences between the axes referenced by robot-assisted TKA and those referenced by conventional TKA, which may be influenced by patient height. Correctly understanding these differences is crucial when evaluating the implant position and surgical outcomes after robot-assisted TKA. Furthermore, caution should be taken when assessing the flexion-extension angle of the knee since the angles displayed in the Mako system are different from the angles measured with intramedullary anatomical axes. After all, sagittal alignment principles differ between robot-assisted and conventional TKA; however, further studies are required to determine which principle is more appropriate or to modify these principles.

BACKGROUND: Goat milk is considered a nutritionally superior resource, owing to its advantageous nutritional attributes. Nevertheless, it is susceptible to spoilage and the persistence of pathogens. Electron beam irradiation stands as a promising non-thermal processing technique capable of prolonging shelf life with minimal residue and a high degree of automation. RESULTS: The effects of electron beam irradiation (2, 3, 5, and 7 kGy) on microorganisms, physicochemical properties, and protein structure of goat milk compared with conventional pasteurized goat milk (PGM) was evaluated. It was found that a 2 kGy electron beam irradiation reduces the total microbial count of goat milk by 6-logs, and the irradiated goat milk protein secondary structure showed a significant decrease in ɑ-helix content. Low irradiation doses led to microaggregation and crosslinking. In contrast, high doses (≥ 5 kGy) slightly disrupted the aggregates and decreased the particle size, disrupting the microscopic surface structure of goat milk, verified by scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy. CONCLUSION: The irradiation of goat milk with a 2 kGy electron beam may effectively inactivate harmful microorganisms in the milk and maintain/or improve the physicochemical quality and protein structure of goat milk compared to thermal pasteurization. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

BACKGROUND: In China, real-world data on surgical challenges and postoperative complications after neoadjuvant immunotherapy of lung cancer are limited. METHODS: Patients were retrospectively enrolled from January 2018 to January 2023, and their clinical and pathological characters were subsequently analyzed. Surgical difficulty was categorized into a binary classification according to surgical duration: challenging or routine. Postoperative complications were graded using Clavien-Dindo grades. Logistic regression was used to identify risk factors affecting the duration of surgery and postoperative complications greater than Clavien-Dindo grade 2. RESULTS: In total, 261 patients were included. Of these, stage III patients accounted for 62.5% (163/261) at initial diagnosis, with 25.3% (66/261) at stage IIIB. Central-type non-small-cell lung cancer accounted for 61.7% (161/261). One hundred and forty patients underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and lobectomy accounted for 53.3% (139/261) of patients. Surgical time over average duration was defined as challenging surgeries, accounting for 43.7%. The postoperative complications rate of 261 patients was only 22.2%. Smoking history (odds ratio [OR] = 9.96, 95% [CI] 1.15-86.01, p = 0.03), chemoimmunotherapy (OR = 2.89, 95% CI 1.22-6.86, p = 0.02), and conversion to open surgery (OR = 11.3, 95% CI 1.38-92.9, p = 0.02) were identified as independent risk factors for challenging surgeries, while pneumonectomy (OR = 0.36, 95% CI 0.15-0.86, p= 0.02) was a protective factor. Meanwhile, pneumonectomy (OR = 7.51, 95% CI 2.40-23.51, p < 0.01) and challenging surgeries (OR = 5.53, 95% CI 1.50-20.62, p = 0.01) were found to be risk factors for postoperative complications greater than Clavien-Dindo grade 2. CONCLUSIONS: Compared to immunotherapy alone or in combination with apatinib, neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy could increase the difficulty of surgery while the incidence of postoperative complications remained acceptable. The conversion to open surgery and pneumonectomy after neoadjuvant immunotherapy should be reduced.

Utilizing catalytic combustion to convert methane (CH4) into CO2 and H2O stands as one of the most effective approaches for mitigating unburnt CH4 emissions from natural gas engines. Supported Pd catalysts have been extensively researched for their role in low-temperature CH4 combustion, with their catalytic activity greatly influenced by metal-support interactions. Surface interaction Pd phases, as a special type of Pd species originating from metal-support interactions on supported Pd catalysts, show controversial catalytic performance in CH4 combustion. Moreover, the impact of electronic metal-support interactions (EMSI, which refers to metal-support interactions associated with electron transfer) remains unclear. Hence, we opted for Ce-Zr solid solutions with different Ce:Zr molar ratios as supports and synthesized a range of supported Pd catalysts with varying EMSI intensities. Characterization revealed that as the oxygen vacancy concentration on the support increased, electron transfer weakened, leading to a higher Pd-O-Ce content, resulting in a lower CH4 activation barrier and better catalytic performance. This study offers a promising approach for regulating EMSI and active Pd species on supported catalysts in practical applications.
