RESUMO

Evaluations of immune system of 155 patients with rubella and 90 contacts with patients were examined. Detection of viral genetic material in blood, urine, and nasopharyngeal swabs has been performed using RT-PCR method. Clinical diagnosis has been confirmed by RT-PCR in 114 (73.5%) patients. Changes of laboratory tests for rubella without clinical signs of the infection were observed in 20% of contacts. Complex ELISA- and PCR-assisted examination of patients can help to determine the stage of disease and characteristics of immune response. For differential diagnostic of rubella and other infectious diseases with exanthema it is rational to perform complex examination of patients using immunologic and molecular biologic methods.

RESUMO

Infectious mononucleosis is associated with pronounced changes in surface architectonics of peripheral blood lymphocytes persisting during convalescence and remote period after the disease. The degree of these changes depends on the disease agent and age-specific characteristics of the body. The most pronounced and sustained disorders in the morphostructural organization of lymphocytes are caused by Epstein-Barr virus (in comparison with agents of other etiology); these disorders are more pronounced in children aged 7-14 years than in those aged 3-6 years.

RESUMO

The study of the activity of dehydrogenases in blood cells could be an additional method at diagnostics of etiological variants of infectious mononucleosis (IM) of the viral and bacterial types. The activity of succinatedehydrogenasa (SDG) and of alpha-glycerophosphatedehydrogenase (alpha-GPDG) was increasing in lymphocytes and monocyte of the peripheral blood as compared to the same activity in healthy children. Such changes were preserved in the reconvalescense phase. The activity of enzymes in the lymphoid and monocytic cells was found at viral IM to meet the normal value. The atypical mononuclear cells, found in blood of patients with IM of both viral and bacterial nature, are a population of different-activity cellular dehydrogenases, in which cellular elements with the activity of SDG and alpha-GPDG, corresponding to the enzyme status of monocytes, are predominant.

RESUMO

In patients with viral and bacterial infectious mononucleosis during the acute period of disease and clinical convalescence blood content of CD72(+)and CD16(+)lymphocytes increased compared to normal. The count of CD8(+)cells increased in viral mononucleosis during convalescence and these changes persist in delayed periods after convalescence. In bacterial mononucleosis the content of CD72(+)lymphocytes return normal 18 months after convalescence.

RESUMO

Infectious mononucleosis is associated with suppression of lymphocyte apoptosis and accumulation of cells with chromosome aberrations in the peripheral blood. The type and severity of these aberrations do not depend on the etiological variant of infection and patient age. At the same time in 3-6-year-old children with infectious mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Barr virus we observed activation of DNA repair system in lymphoid cells.

RESUMO

An increase in RNA content in peripheral blood lymphocytes and increased number of macronuclear weakly basophilic cells (presumably due to increased content of B-lymphocytes which, in contrast to sharply basophilic T-lymphocytes, are characterized by light basophilic cytoplasm) are observed in patients with infectious mononucleosis. Macronuclear forms represented equally by hyper- and hypobasophilic elements predominate the structure of atypical mononuclears. Increased content of DNA in the peripheral blood lymphocytes is due to increased number of cells with high DNA content in the patient's blood and appearance of cells with 52-65 arb. units DNA (blast-transformed atypical mononuclears infected with the virus) which are normally absent.

RESUMO

Changes in proliferative activity of lymphocytes from peripheral blood may serve an additional diagnostic criterion of etiological variants of infectious mononucleosis (IM)(viral and bacterial). In MN of viral etiology in evident disease the ability of lymphoid cells to blasttransformation in the presence of PHA is low vs healthy children. In convalescence the changes persist, proliferative activity of cells increase in stimulation by lipopolysaccharide. Later blast-transformation of lymphocytes return to normal. In bacterial IM proliferative activity of PHA- and LPS-stimulated lymphocytes is normal.

RESUMO

We performed chromosomal analysis and micronucleus test of peripheral blood lymphocytes during infectious mononucleosis. The content of lymphocytes with structural chromosome aberrations and micronuclei increased in patients with pronounced clinical and hematological signs of infectious mononucleosis (acute stage). There were cells with changed number of chromosomes. These cytogenetic abnormalities persisted both during convalescence and in the delayed period after recovery.

RESUMO

Morphometrical and cytochemical analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with infectious mononucleosis was carried out. Structural and metabolic state of lymphocytes and monocytes during convalescence and in delayed period after recovery differed from normal. Cytochemistry of atypical mononuclear cells was evaluated.

RESUMO

The determination of the parameters of cellular immunity in children with hepatitis A has demonstrated unbalance on the part of the cellular defence mechanisms which appeared more pronounced in patients suffering from hepatitis A combined with opisthorchiasis. This determines the clinical picture characteristics in patients with mixed infection.
