RESUMO

Examining P-wave morphological changes in Electrocardiogram (ECG) is essential for characterizing atrial arrhythmias. However, standard 12-lead ECGsuffer from diagnostic redundancy due to low signal-to-noise ratio of P-waves. To address this issue, various optimal leads have been proposed for improved atrial activity recording, but the right selection among these leads is crucial for enhancing diagnostic efficacy. This study proposes an automated lead selection technique using the CatBoost machine learning (ML) model to improve the detection of P-wave changes among optimal bipolar leads under different heart rates. ECGs were obtained from healthy participants with a mean age of 25 ± 3.81 years (34% women), including 114 in sinus rhythm (SR) and 38 in sinus tachycardia (ST). The recordings were made using a newly designed atrial lead system (ALS), standard limb lead (SLL), modified limb lead (MLL), modified Lewis lead (LLM) and P-lead. P-wave features and Atrioventricular (AV) ratio were extracted for statistical analysis and ML classification. The optimum ML model was chosen to identify the best-performing optimal lead, which was selected based on the SLL metrics among different ML classifiers. CatBoost was found to outperform the other ML models in SLL-II with the highest accuracy and sensitivity of 0.82 and 0.90, respectively. The CatBoost model, amid other optimal leads, gave the best results for AL-I and AL-II (0.86 and 0.83 in accuracy and 0.91 and 0.93 in sensitivity). The developed CatBoost model selected AL-I and AL-II as the top two best-performing optimal leads for the enhanced acquisition of P-wave changes, which may be useful for diagnosing atrial arrhythmias.

RESUMO

It is of interest to document data on oral health care services for adults with cognitive and intellectual disabilities. Hence, a study protocol was registered at the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) with registration number: CRD42020150759. We used PubMed, Science Direct, LILACS and SCIELO to collect data from known literature using keywords containing MESH (Medical Subject Headings) terms. The risk of bias rating for the collected data was calculated using the Newcastle-Ottawa assessment Scale. The AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare, Research and Quality) was used for classifying the level of evidence in the collected data. Analysis of available data shows that there is a lack of dentists with adequate skills to treat people with disabilities resulting in high cost for dental treatment. Thus, we conclude that inconvenient location of dental clinic, lack of dentists willing to treat people with disabilities and attitude of dental staff towards people with learning disabilities were considered as barriers and challenges faced for dental health service utilization in this context.

RESUMO

It is of interest to document the The Oral Health heigene data among the paliyan and pulayan tribes in India. The Paliyan and Pulayan tribes inhabit a narrow strip of Western Ghats in the hilly regions of Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu. Subjects aged 5yrs and above are used in this study. The WHO assessment form was used to assess the oral health status. Results show that 589 (58%) ignored the oral health problems, 225 (22.2%) relied on self-medications, 142 (14%) consulted a general physician, 35 (3.5%) had visited a dentist and the remaining 23 (2.3%) were dependent upon over the counter medications from a pharmacy. Thus, the prosthetic need was highest among the 55 + yrs age group, 36 (48.6%) required maxillary prosthesis and 21 (28.4%) required mandibular prosthesis.

RESUMO

Oryctes rhinoceros Linn. is one of the most serious pests of coconuts and other palms. Following bioassay guided method, a larvicidal compound, 22-hydroxyhopane has been isolated for the first time from methanol extract of leaves of Adiantum latifolium Lam. against the pest (LC50 value 20.81 µg/g). It is a hopanoid triterpene with molecular mass of 442.42 g/mol. The compound exhibited antibacterial activity against symbiotic gut bacteria, caused histolysis of midgut tissues and inhibited secretion of digestive enzymes such as protease, amylase and trehalase resulting in weight loss of larvae. Enzyme immunoassay showed an elevation of 20-hydroxyecdysone level in haemolymph causing disruption of metamorphosis of larvae.

RESUMO

Let G be a graph with n vertices and m edges. The term energy of a graph G was introduced by I. Gutman in chemistry due to its relevance to the total π-electron energy of a carbon compound. An analogous energy E D ( G ) , called the distance energy, was defined by Indulal et al. (MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem. 60:461-472, 2008) in 2008. McClelland and Koolen-Moulton bounds for distance energy were established subsequently by Ramane et al. (Kragujev. J. Math. 31:59-68, 2008). The lower and upper bounds for E D ( G ) obtained in this paper are better than the McClelland and Koolen-Moulton bounds.
