RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Study the effect of quality control circle (QCC) in promoting the usage of rubber dams (RD) in root canal treatment of chronic pulpitis in primary teeth. METHODS: Set up a quality control group to increase the amount of rubber dams used in the treatment of chronic pulpitis in primary teeth. Monthly monitoring results of the usage amount were counted by the outpatient computer system. Relevant data were collected through questionnaires, and causes of low utilization were analyzed, and the improvement measurements were formulated and implemented. Quality control circle activity was evaluated. RESULTS: Through the quality control circle activity, the consumption of rubber dams in the root canal treatment of chronic pulpitis was significantly improved, children in treatment became more cooperative, and operation time of root canal treatment has also been shortened. CONCLUSION: The quality control circle activities played a significant role in promoting the use of rubber dams in the root canal treatment of primary teeth, and it can be used as a method to promote new clinical treatment programs.

RESUMO

The value of clinical cluster nursing in the prevention of multi-drug resistant (MDR) infection in patients with severe encephalopathy in ICU was evaluated. ICU patients (n=129) diagnosed with severe encephalopathy between 2012 and 2014 were selected as the study group, while 106 cases of ICU patients diagnosed with severe encephalopathy between 2010 and 2012 were retrospectively selected as the control group. Control group patients were offered conventional integrated nursing care, while the study group patients were offered cluster nursing care. The differences in infection rate, colony and quantity, infection time, number, mortality rate and hospital stays between the two groups were compared and analyzed. Observations on the infection rate, diagnosis time, total number of infection, mortality rate caused by infection and hospital stays were lower in the study group patients than in controls (P<0.05). The patients in the study group had a much lower drug-resistant infection rate than that in the control group (P<0.05). In the patient groups there were infections with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli, although the quantities of the above pathogenic microbe colonies in the study group were notably less than those in the control group (P<0.05). In conclusion, cluster nursing care effectively prevents MDR infections of ICU patients with severe encephalopathy and reduces the mortality rate, thus having an excellent clinical significance.

RESUMO

The objective of the study was to determine the short-term success rate of short and wide single-tooth implants, immediately placed into extraction sockets of the posterior area. A retrospective cohort study design was used. A total of 145 subjects received 162 short and wide-diameter single-tooth implants between 2006 and 2009. A minimal 7-mm residual height and 9-mm ridge width was available in all the implant sites, and the attached gingivae were at least 2 mm wide. All implants were placed and restored with the single crown by one experienced operator. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics. All implants were placed in molar areas. There were 20 Ankylos implants with a diameter 5.5 or 7 mm and a length of 8 mm and 142 hydroxyapatite-coated implants with a diameter 5 or 6 mm and a length of 5.7 to 8 mm. One of the 162 implants failed before prosthetic restoration, resulting in a survival rate of 99.4% after loading. Patients were followed for up to 56 months (mean = 24 months) after loading of implants. The radiographic and clinical data revealed well-maintained hard and soft tissues with acceptable short-term results. For residual ridges with minimal height but adequate width, the immediate placement of short and wide-diameter implants in fresh extraction sockets may offer a simple and predictable treatment alternative if implants are positioned appropriately after a thorough preoperative analysis.
