Mexican Coreño Creole cattle are an important genetic resource adapted to local environmental conditions, so the study of their genetic diversity is essential to know their status and implement conservation programs and their use for crossbreeding. This study evaluated the genetic diversity of heat stress tolerance characteristics of Coreño Creole cattle, and a gene ontology enrichment was performed to know the biological processes in which candidate genes are involved. A total of 48 samples from three localities of Nayarit were genotyped using 777 K Illumina BovineHD BeadChip and 34 single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with candidate genes were selected. Genetic diversity was analyzed using allelic frequencies, expected heterozygosity (He), and Wright's fixation index (FST) using PLINK v1.9 software. Candidate genes were uploaded to the open-source GOnet for pathway analysis and linkage to biological processes. Coreño Creole cattle showed low genetic diversity (He = 0.35), the average FST obtained was 0.044, and only eight markers had allele frequencies higher than 0.80 in the three locations. We found that the genes GOT1 and NCAD are related in the biological processes of stress response, cell differentiation, and homeostatic process. The results revealed that Coreño Creole cattle have low genetic diversity; this could be due to the isolation of these populations.

Reproductive efficiency stands as a critical determinant of profitability within beef production systems. The incorporation of molecular markers can expedite advancements in reproductive performance. While the use of SNPs in association analysis is prevalent, approaches centered on haplotypes can offer a more comprehensive insight. The study used registered Simmental and Simbrah cattle genotyped with the GGP Bovine 150 k panel. Phenotypes included scrotal circumference (SC), heifer fertility (HF), stayability (STAY), and frame score (FS). After quality control, 105,129 autosomal SNPs from 967 animals were used. Haplotype blocks were defined based on linkage disequilibrium. Comparison between haplotypes and SNPs for reproductive traits and FS was conducted using Bayesian and frequentist models. 23, 13, 7, and 2 SNPs exhibited associations with FS, SC, HF, and STAY, respectively. In addition, seven, eight, seven, and one haplotypes displayed associations with FS, SC, HF, and STAY, respectively. Within these delineated genomic segments, potential candidate genes were associated.

The objective was to assess the effect of sire breed on birth weight, average daily gain from birth to weaning, and actual weaning weight of calves. The calves were produced by AI using semen of five Akaushi (Wagyu), six Angus, and six Brahman bulls. Dams of calves were Beefmaster (n = 60) and Brown Swiss x Zebu (n = 21). The three sire breeds were used on both dam genetic types to produce the calves (45 males and 36 females). Each dam genetic type was raised in two ranches; therefore, all calves were born in four ranches, in the same calendar year. Average age at weaning weight m easurement was 186 days. The traits were analyzed with the MIXED procedure of SAS. The statistical model included the fixed effects of sire breed, dam genetic type, calf sex, ranch, and birth season within sire breed-ranch; sire within breed of sire was included as a random effect (except for weaning weight; P > 0.05). In addition, the model for weaning weight included calf age at weaning as a covariate. Birth weights and average daily gains of Akaushi-, Angus- and Brahman-sired calves were similar (P > 0.05). In contrast, Angus-sired calves were heavier (P < 0.05) at weaning than Akaushi- and Brahman-sired calves. Calves out of Brown Swiss x Zebu dams had higher (P < 0.05) pre-weaning average daily gains than calves out of Beefmaster dams. Angus-sired calves performed better at weaning.

OBJECTIVE: In tropical, subtropical and arid zones, heat stress is the main cause of productivity reduction in cattle. When climate stressors occur, animals become thermal adapted through differential expression of some genes, including heat shock proteins (HSP) family. The aim of this study was to determine levels of expression of HSP60, HSP70, and HSP90 genes in Simmental cattle raised in tropical environments of Mexico. METHODS: In this study, expression of HSP60, HSP70, and HSP90 genes was analyzed in 116 Simmental cattle from three farms with tropical climate located in western Mexico. Animals were sampled twice a day, in the morning and noon. Gene expression was evaluated by quantitative polymerase chain reaction using probes marked with fluorescence. The MIXED procedure of SAS with repeated measures was used for all statistical analysis. RESULTS: HSP60 gene expression differences were found for sex (p = 0.0349). HSP70 gene differences were detected for sampling hour (p = 0.0042), farm (p<0.0001), sex (p = 0.0476), and the interaction sampling hour×farm (p = 0.0002). Gene expression differences for HSP90 were observed for farm (p<0.0001) and year (p = 0.0521). HSP70 gene showed to be a better marker of heat stress than HSP60 and HSP90 genes. CONCLUSION: Expression of HSP70 gene in Simmental herds of the tropical region of western México was different during early morning and noon, but the expression of the HSP60 and HSP90 genes was similar. Identification of resilient animals to heat stress will be useful in the genetic improvement of the Simmental breed.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to perform genome (genome wide association studies [GWAS]) and chromosome (CWAS) wide association analyses to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with growth traits in registered Simmental and Simbrah cattle. METHODS: The phenotypes were deregressed BLUP EBVs for birth weight, weaning weight direct, weaning weight maternal, and yearling weight. The genotyping was performed with the GGP Bovine 150k chip. After the quality control analysis, 105,129 autosomal SNP from 967 animals (473 Simmental and 494 Simbrah) were used to carry out genotype association tests. The two association analyses were performed per breed and using combined information of the two breeds. The SNP associated with growth traits were mapped to their corresponding genes at 100 kb on either side. RESULTS: A difference in magnitude of posterior probabilities was found across breeds between genome and chromosome wide association analyses. A total of 110, 143, and 302 SNP were associated with GWAS and CWAS for growth traits in the Simmental-, Simbrah-and joint -data analyses, respectively. It stands out from the enrichment analysis of the pathways for RNA polymerase (POLR2G, POLR3E) and GABAergic synapse (GABRR1, GABRR3) for Simmental cattle and p53 signaling pathway (BID, SERPINB5) for Simbrah cattle. CONCLUSION: Only 6,265% of the markers associated with growth traits were found using CWAS and GWAS. The associated markers using the CWAS analysis, which were not associated using the GWAS, represents information that due to the model and priors was not associated with the traits.

Background: No dairy breed or crossbreed has superior overall performance in all environments; therefore, it is necessary to determine which crossbreed is the most suitable for the Mexican tropic and what proportion of European breed is optimum for reproduction. Objective: To assess the effect of the proportion of Bos taurus (Bt) genes on reproductive performance of Holstein×Zebu (HZ) and Brown Swiss×Zebu (BZ) cows, and compare reproductive performance of these genotypes in a dual- purpose production system. Methods: Cows were maintained in a rotational grazing system on African star grass (Cynodon plectostachyus) in Veracruz, Mexico. Cows were milked twice daily. Calves were kept tied to the side of their dams while the cows were milked. Results: The percentage of Bt genes did not affect (p>0.05) fertility traits (age at first calving, days to first service after calving, services per conception, conception rate at first service, days open until conception, gestation length, and calving interval) of BZ cows. In contrast, HZ cows with less than 75% Holstein (H) genes were 0.3 years younger (p<0.05) at first calving and had 39.8 fewer days open (p<0.05) than HZ cows with 75% H genes or more. In addition, the calving interval of HZ cows with less than 75% H genes was 44.8 days shorter (p<0.05) than that of HZ cows with 75% H genes or more. The HZ cows had five fewer days pregnant and were 22.8 kg heavier at calving (p<0.05) than BZ cows. Conclusions: The effect of the percentage of Bt genes on cow fertility depends on the dairy breed used. In general, BZ and HZ cows present similar reproductive performance.


Antecedentes: Ninguna raza lechera o cruce tiene un desempeño general superior en todos los ambientes; por lo tanto, es necesario determinar cuál cruce lechero es más apropiado en el trópico mexicano y qué proporción de raza europea es óptima para la reproducción. Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto de la proporción de genes Bos taurus (Bt) en el desempeño reproductivo de vacas cruzadas Holstein×Cebú (HC) y Pardo Suizo×Cebú (PC), y comparar el desempeño reproductivo de estos dos genotipos en un sistema de producción doble propósito. Métodos: Las vacas se mantuvieron en un sistema de pastoreo rotacional en zacate Estrella de África (Cynodon plectostachyus) en Veracruz, México. Las vacas se ordeñaron dos veces al día. Los becerros se mantuvieron atados, a un costado de sus madres mientras éstas se ordeñaron. Resultados: El porcentaje de genes Bt no afectó (p>0,05) ninguna característica de fertilidad (edad a primer parto, días a primer servicio después del parto, servicios por concepción, tasa de preñez a primer servicio, días abiertos a la concepción, duración de la gestación, e intervalo entre partos) de las vacas PC. En contraste, las vacas HC con menos de 75% de genes Holstein (H) fueron 0,3 años más jóvenes (p<0,05) al primer parto y tuvieron 39,8 días abiertos menos (p<0,05) que las vacas HC con 75% de genes H o más. Además, el intervalo entre partos de las vacas HC con menos de 75% de genes H fue 44,8 días más corto (p<0,05) que el de las vacas HC con 75% de genes H o más. Las vacas HC tuvieron cinco días de gestación menos y fueron 22,8 kg más pesadas al parto (p<0,05) que las PC. Conclusiones: El efecto del porcentaje de genes Bt sobre la fertilidad de la vaca depende de la raza lechera usada. En general, las vacas PC y HC tienen similar desempeño reproductivo.

Métodos: As vacas foram mantidas em sistema de pastoreio rotacional em capim Estrela de África (Cynodon plectostachyus) em Veracruz, México. As vacas foram ordenhadas duas vezes por dia. Os bezerros foram mantidos ao lado de suas mães enquanto eram ordenhadas. Resultados: A porcentagem dos genes Bt não afetou (p>0,05) nenhuma característica de fertilidade (idade ao primeiro parto, número de dias para o primeiro serviço pós-parto, serviços por concepção, taxa de prenhes no primeiro serviço, dias abertos, período de gestação e intervalo entre partos) das vacas PZ. Em contraste, vacas HC com menos de 75% dos genes Holandês (H) eram 0,3 anos mais jovens (p<0,05) no primeiro parto e tiveram 39,8 dias abertos a menos (p<0,05) do que as vacas HZ com 75% ou mais dos genes H. Além disso, o intervalo de parto das vacas HZ com menos de 75% dos genes H foram 44,8 dias mais curtos (p<0,05) do que as vacas HZ com 75% ou mais de genes H. As vacas HZ tiveram cinco dias de gestação a menos e foram 22,8 kg mais pesadas no parto (p<0,05) do que as PZ. Conclusões: O efeito da porcentagem de genes Bt na fertilidade da vaca dependeu da raça leiteira utilizada. Em geral, as vacas PZ e HZ tiveram desempenho reprodutivo semelhante.

Tropical and subtropical milk production herds in Mexico generally generate different types of milk-yield records as milk yield per month and mean production per month. Lactation curves generated by these types of records may contribute to understand milk production in the tropical regions of Mexico. The aim of this study was to compare five lactation-curve models fitted to two types of milk-yield records of Holstein, Brown Swiss, and F1 crossbred cows under subtropical conditions. The two types of records (n = 3756) used were: (1) milk yield per month (TR) and 2) mean production per months (MR). Goodness-of-fit statistics, including Akaike's information criterion (AIC) and root mean square error (RMSE), were applied to compare the models for each type of records. The Brody model provided the best goodness-of-fit when using monthly milk-yield records, while the Wilmink model provided the best goodness-of-fit for lactation milk-yield records. The RMSE and AIC values were similar between datasets. The final third of the lactation curve showed a little difference between model predictions in both datasets. The comparison of several models was useful to better describe the actual lactation curves of the herd. The Wood model may be adequate to compare information as a reference with other models for decision making process at milk production.

OBJECTIVE: The aim was to characterize the genetic diversity evolution of the registered Mexican Charolais cattle population by pedigree analysis. METHODS: Data consisted of 331,390 pedigree records of animals born from 1934 to 2018. Average complete generation equivalent, generation interval, effective population size (Ne), and effective numbers of founders (fe), ancestors (fa), and founder genomes (Ng) were calculated for seven five-year periods. The inbreeding coefficient was calculated per year of birth, from 1984 to 2018, whereas the gene contribution of the most influential ancestors was calculated for the latter period. RESULTS: Average complete generation equivalent consistently increased across periods, from 4.76, for the first period (1984 through 1988), to 7.86, for the last period (2014 through 2018). The inbreeding coefficient showed a relative steadiness across the last seventeen years, oscillating from 0.0110 to 0.0145. During the last period, the average generation interval for the father-offspring pathways was nearly 1 yr. longer than that of the mother-offspring pathways. The effective population size increased steadily since 1984 (105.0) and until 2013 (237.1), but showed a minor decline from 2013 to 2018 (233.2). The population displayed an increase in the fa since 1984 and until 2008; however, showed a small decrease during the last decade. The effective number of founder genomes increased from 1984 to 2003, but revealed loss of genetic variability during the last fifteen years (from 136.4 to 127.7). The fa:fe ratio suggests that the genetic diversity loss was partially caused by formation of genetic bottlenecks in the pedigree; in addition, the Ng:fa ratio indicates loss of founder alleles due to genetic drift. The most influential ancestor explained 1.8% of the total genetic variability in the progeny born from 2014 to 2018. CONCLUSION: Inbreeding, Ne, fa, and Ng are rather beyond critical levels; therefore, the current genetic status of the population is not at risk.

RESUMEN Objetivo. Comparar la fertilidad de vacas cruzadas Suizo Pardo x Cebú y Simmental x Cebú criadas en un ambiente tropical. Materiales y métodos. Se evaluaron características reproductivas de 185 vacas cruzadas Suizo Pardo x Cebú y Simmental x Cebú con diversos porcentajes de raza europea. El pastoreo de las vacas fue rotacional. El ordeño fue dos veces al día con la ayuda (amamantamiento) del becerro, el cual se mantuvo atado cerca de la vaca mientras ella se ordeñaba. Las características se evaluaron ajustando un modelo de mediciones repetidas (excepto para edad a primer parto). Periodo interparto, edad a primer parto, días abiertos, periodo parto-primer servicio y peso al parto fueron analizados con PROC MIXED de SAS. Tasa de gestación a primer servicio y servicios por concepción, se analizaron con PROC GENMOD del mismo programa. Resultados. Las vacas Simmental x Cebú se sirvieron después del parto 39 días antes (p<0.05) y tuvieron 47 días abiertos menos (p<0.05) que las Suizo Pardo x Cebú. El periodo interparto de las vacas Simmental x Cebú fue 45 días más corto (p<0.05) que el de las Suizo Pardo x Cebú. Las vacas Simmental x Cebú pesaron 34 kg más al parto (p<0.05) que las Suizo Pardo x Cebú. Conclusiones. Las vacas Simmental x Cebú tuvieron mejor fertilidad que las Suizo Pardo x Cebú.


ABSTRACT Objective. Compare the fertility of Brown Swiss x Zebu and Simmental x Zebu crossbred cows reared in a tropical environment. Materials and methods. Reproductive traits of 185 Brown Swiss x Zebu and Simmental x Zebu crossbred cows with diverse percentages of European breed were evaluated. Grazing of cows was rotational. The milking was twice daily with the help (suckling) of the calf, which was kept tied next to the dam while she was milked. Traits were evaluated fitting a repeated measures model (except for age at first calving). Calving interval, age at first calving, days open, interval from calving to first service, and weight at calving were analyzed with PROC MIXED of SAS. Pregnancy rate at first service and services per conception were analyzed with PROC GENMOD of the same software. Results. Simmental x Zebu cows started to re-bred 39 days earlier after calving (p<0.05) and had 47 fewer days open (p<0.05) than Brown Swiss x Zebu cows. The calving interval of the Simmental x Zebu cows was 45 days shorter (p<0.05) than that of the Brown Swiss x Zebu cows. Simmental x Zebu cows were 34 kg heavier at calving (p<0.05) than Brown Swiss x Zebu cows. Conclusions. Simmental x Zebu cows had better fertility than Brown Swiss x Zebu cows.

This study aims at investigating genomic diversity of several turkey populations using Copy Number Variants (CNVs). A total of 115 individuals from six Italian breeds (Colle Euganei, Bronzato Comune Italiano, Parma e Piacenza, Brianzolo, Nero d'Italia, and Ermellinato di Rovigo), seven Narragansett, 38 commercial hybrids, and 30 Mexican turkeys, were genotyped with the Affymetrix 600K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) turkey array. The CNV calling was performed with the Hidden Markov Model of PennCNV software and with the Copy Number Analysis Module of SVS 8.4 by Golden Helix®. CNV were summarized into CNV regions (CNVRs) at population level using BEDTools. Variability among populations has been addressed by hierarchical clustering (pvclust R package) and by principal component analysis (PCA). A total of 2,987 CNVs were identified covering 4.65% of the autosomes of the Turkey_5.0/melGal5 assembly. The CNVRs identified in at least two individuals were 362-189 gains, 116 losses, and 57 complexes. Among these regions the 51% contain annotated genes. This study is the first CNV mapping of turkey population using 600K chip. CNVs clustered the individuals according to population and their geographical origin. CNVs are known to be indicators also of adaptation, as some researches in different species are suggesting.

Abstract Background: Knowledge of genetic correlations and the economics of traits are essential to decide which traits should be used as selection criteria. Objective: To estimate heritabilities and genetic, environmental, and phenotypic correlations, and direct (DRS) and correlated (CRS) responses to selection by scrotal circumference (SC), frame score (FS), and yearling weight (YW) of Mexican Charolais (CH), and Charbray (CB) young bulls. Methods: Actual SC, height and YW records (10,078 for CH, and 500 for CB) were adjusted to 365 d. The 0.0505 adjustment factor recommended by the Beef Improvement Federation was used to obtain the 365-d adjusted SC for both breeds. Height and age records were used to obtain FS. Data were analyzed using a three-trait animal model. The animal model for each trait included bull breed, contemporary group (groups of young bulls born in the same herd, year, and season of the year), and age of dam as a linear covariate as fixed effects, and direct additive genetic and residual as random effects. Results: Heritability estimates for SC, FS and YW were 0.21 ± 0.04, 0.25 ± 0.04, and 0.29 ± 0.04, respectively. The genetic correlation between YW with SC was 0.37 ± 0.16, and between YW with FS was 0.42 ± 0.16. The estimate of genetic correlation between SC and FS was low and positive (0.15 ± 0.14). The DRS was 0.38 cm, 0.18 units, and 8.30 kg for SC, FS and YW. The CRS was 0.16 cm, and 0.08 units for SC and FS from indirect selection on YW. Conclusions: Direct selection for YW is expected to be effective. Indirect selection for SC and FS based on YW would not be expected to be as effective as direct selection for improving SC and FS.


Resumen Antecedentes: el conocimiento de las correlaciones genéticas y el aspecto económico de las características son necesarios para decidir qué características usar como criterios de selección. Objetivo: estimar las heredabilidades y correlaciones genéticas, ambientales y fenotípicas, y respuesta directa (DRS) y correlacionada (CRS) a la selección por circunferencia escrotal (SC), talla corporal (FS), y peso al año (YW) de toros jóvenes mexicanos Charolais (CH), y Charbray (CB). Métodos: registros (10.078 para CH y 500 para CB) de SC, altura y YW se ajustaron a 365 d. El factor de ajuste de 0,0505 recomendado por la Beef Improvement Federation se usó para obtener la SC ajustada a 365 d para ambas razas. Registros de altura y edad del animal se usaron para calcular FS. Los datos se analizaron usando un modelo animal para tres características. El modelo animal para cada característica incluyó raza del toro, grupo contemporáneo (grupos de toros jóvenes nacidos en el mismo hato, año y época del año) y edad de la madre como covariable lineal como efectos fijos, y el genético aditivo directo y el error como efectos aleatorios. Resultados: los estimadores de heredabilidad de SC, FS y YW fueron 0,21 ± 0,04, 0,25 ± 0,04 y 0,29 ± 0,04, respectivamente. La correlación genética de YW con SC fue 0,37 ± 0,16, y de YW con FS fue 0,42 ± 0,16. El estimador de la correlación genética entre SC y FS fue bajo y positivo (0,15 ± 0,14). La DRS fue 0,38 cm, 0,18 unidades, y 8,30 kg para SC, FS y YW. La CRS fue 0,16 cm y 0,08 unidades para SC y FS al seleccionar YW. Conclusiones: se espera que la selección directa de YW sea efectiva. Resultados: as estimativas de herdabilidade para SC, FS e YW foram 0,21 ± 0,04, 0,25 ± 0,04 e 0,29 ± 0,04, respetivamente. A correlação genética do YW com SC foi 0,37 ± 0,16, e de YW com FS foi 0,42 ± 0,16. A estimativa da correlação genética entre SC e FS foi baixa e positiva (0,15 ± 0,14). A DRS foi 0,38 cm, 0,18 unidades, e 8,30 kg para SC, FS e YW. A CRS foi 0,16 cm e 0,08 unidades para SC e FS al selecionar YW. Conclusões: espera-se que a seleção direta do YW seja eficaz. A seleção indireta de SC e FS com base no YW não se espera que seja tão efetiva como a seleção direta para melhorar SC e FS.

Pedigree and reproductive records of 151 Brown Swiss cows were analyzed with the objective of estimating the heritability (h²) and the repeatability (r) for different measures of fertility. Cows were daughters of 49 sires and 102 dams. The study was carried out at Las Margaritas research station located in Puebla, Mexico. The pedigree was the same for all traits; it consisted of 287 individuals, and included dams without records and sires. Genetic parameters were estimated for conception rate at first service (CR), days to first registered heat after calving (DH), days to first registered service after calving (DS), days open (DO), and calving interval (CI). Estimations were made independently for each trait with a repeatability animal model, which included the direct additive genetic effect, as well as the permanent environmental effect of the cow. Genetic parameters were estimated with restricted maximum likelihood. In general, estimates of permanent environmental variance were greater than estimates of additive genetic variance, so that r was mainly determined by permanent environmental effects. Estimates of h² and r were: 0.02 ± 0.06 and 0.16, 0.00 ± 0.05 and 0.15, 0.03 ± 0.03 and 0.03, 0.00 ± 0.03 and 0.14, and 0.03 ± 0.07 and 0.12 for DH, DS, CR, DO and CI. Artificial selection as a tool to induce genetic change in measures of fertility studied would be slightly effective because additive genetic variance is scarce.


Se analizaron los registros genealógicos y reproductivos de 151 vacas de la raza Suizo Pardo para estimar la heredabilidad (h²) y el índice de constancia (r) de diferentes indicadores de fertilidad. Las vacas fueron hijas de 49 sementales y 102 madres. El estudio se realizó en el sitio experimental Las Margaritas, en Puebla, México. El pedigrí fue el mismo para todas las características, consistió de 287 animales e incluyó madres sin registros y padres. Los parámetros genéticos fueron estimados para tasa de gestación a primer servicio (TG), días al primer calor registrado después del parto (DC), días al primer servicio registrado después del parto (DS), días abiertos (DA) e intervalo entre partos (IEP). Las estimaciones se hicieron en forma independiente para cada característica, con un modelo de repetibilidad que incluyó el efecto genético aditivo individual, así como el efecto ambiental permanente de la vaca. Los parámetros genéticos fueron estimados por medio de máxima verosimilitud restringida. Los estimadores de la varianza del ambiente permanente, en general, fueron mayores que los de la varianza genética aditiva, por lo que r estuvo determinado principalmente por el ambiente permanente. Los estimadores de h² y r fueron: 0.02 ± 0.06 y 0.16, 0.00 ± 0.05 y 0.15, 0.03 ± 0.03 y 0.03, 0.00 ± 0.03 y 0.14, y 0.03 ± 0.07 y 0.12 para DC, DS, TG, DA e IEP, respectivamente. La selección artificial como una herramienta para inducir cambio genético en las diferentes mediciones de fertilidad sería poco efectiva, ya que la variación genética es escasa.

RESUMO

El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la eficacia fasciolicida del 6-cloro-2- metiltio-5-(1-naftiloxi) bencimidazol denominado compuesto "alfa" contra fasciolas de cuatro y 10 semanas de edad en bovinos. Se utilizaron 15 novillos libres de infección por F. Hepática que se infectaron por vía oral con 300 metacercarias, administradas 150 en el día 0 y 150 en el día 45, respectivamente. A todos los bovinos se les tomaron muestras de heces con el propósito de corroborar la presencia del parásito mediante análisis coprológicos. El día 75, los grupos 1 y 2 fueron tratados con los compuestos alfa y triclabendazol a dosis única de 12 mg/kg, vía oral. El grupo 3 quedó como testigo sin tratamiento. A los 45 días postratamiento todos los bovinos fueron sacrificados para separar el hígado y cuantificar los vermes presentes. La eficacia se midió con base en el número de fasciolas presentes en los grupos tratados respecto del testigo. Los resultados indicaron una eficacia de 99.4 por ciento para el compuesto alfa y de 100 por ciento para el triclabendazol. Se concluye que el compuesto alfa mostró alta eficacia contra fasciolas de cuatro y 10 semanas de edad.
