RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: As a very rare form of B-cell lymphoma, plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) typically occurs in patients with underlying immunosuppression, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), organ transplantation, and autoimmune diseases. For HIV-positive patients, PBL normally originates in the gastrointestinal tract, especially from the oral cavity in most cases. It is extremely rare to find abdominal cavity involvement in PBL, and there has been no previously reported instance of proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal immunoglobulin deposits (PGNMID) attributed to monoclonal IgG (MIgG) lambda secreted by PBL. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of an HIV-negative female with nephrotic syndrome, renal insufficiency, and multiple swollen lymph nodes. Ascitic fluid cytology revealed a high level of plasmablast-like lymphocytes with the restriction of lambda light chains. Besides, the renal biopsy revealed PGNMID, which could presumably be secondary to MIgG-lambda-secreting by PBL. MIgG-lambda-restricted expression was discovered earlier in the kidney tissue than in the blood. CONCLUSION: The diagnostic landscape for PBL is notoriously intricate, necessitating a multifaceted and nuanced approach to mitigate the risks of erroneous identification.

RESUMO

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different combination models of high-risk human papilloma viruses (HPV) genotyping in triaging Chinese women with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS). Methods: We established a screening cohort of 3,997 Chinese women who underwent cervical cytology and HPV genotyping test. Women with ASCUS cytology underwent punch biopsy under colposcopy/endocervical curettage. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of different combination models of HR-HPV genotyping calculated that cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2 or higher (CIN2+) on histology were endpoints. Results: Of the full sample, 393 women had ASCUS. Among ASCUS women with a CIN2 lesion, the prevalence for HPV were 40.0% (type 16), 10.0% (type 18), 0.0% (type 33), 30.0% (type 52), 40.0% (type 58), and 30.0% (other nine types). For ASCUS women with a CIN3 lesion, the prevalence for HPV were 68.4% (type 16), 15.8% (type 18), 10.5% (type 33), 31.6% (type 52), 15.8% (type 58), and 36.8% (other nine types). Combination model including HPV16/18/33/52/58 for predicting CIN2+ lesion in women with ASCUS had relatively higher sensitivity [93.1% (78.0, 98.1)], specificity [75.8% (71.2, 79.9)], PPV [23.5% (16.7, 32.0)], and NPV [99.3% (97.4, 99.8)] than other combination models. Moreover, the referral rate of HPV16/18/33/52/58 (29.3%) was lower than HR-HPV (36.1%). Conclusions: The study demonstrates that specific HR-HPV types HPV16/18/33/52/58 may be an effective strategy in ASCUS triage. This improves the subsequent selection of ASCUS patients.

RESUMO

To characterize the genetic profiles and relationships between ancient ethnic populations, we analyzed polymorphisms in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) isolated from the blood of 753 members of 12 ethnic groups (Buyi, Dong, Gelao, Hui, Man, Miao, Menggu, Mulao, Maonan, Qiang, She and Zhuang) living in the Guizhou Province of China. The 9-bp deletion of mtDNA was detected by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR-PAGE, and 11 SNPs by restriction fragment length polymorphism and mini-sequencing. Thereafter, these genotyping results were verified by PCR-DNA sequencing. The mtDNA of these populations exhibited considerable diversity, both with respect to the haplogroups M and N, and subgroups thereof. The differences between the major ethnic groups reflected the maternal inheritance. These ethnic groups in Guizhou demonstrated a genetic profile that differed considerably from that of other Asian populations. Our findings indicate that the matrilineal genetic profiles of Guizhou groups are relatively complex and distinct, showing relationships that reflect national history and geography.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the population genetics characteristics of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in Gelao, Mulao, Maonan ethnic groups from Guizhou. METHODS: Minisequenceing and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) were used to analyze 12 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) of mitochondrial DNA in the 3 ethnic groups. RESULTS: A total of 30 haplotypes were detected in 156 samples. The distribution of H1, H23 had differed between Mulao, Maonan and Gelao, respectively, and so did M7 among the three groups. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Mulao, Maonan had respectively differed from Gelao and the difference was also statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: There was a great similarity in the distribution of haplotypes of the mtDNA among the three ethnic groups, except for some difference in the distribution of certain haplotypes.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and the content of nitric oxide (NO) in colon tissue of depression rats, so as to reveal its mechanism in protecting colonic tissue under depression. METHODS: Forty male SD rats were equally randomized into normal, model, medication and EA groups. Depression model was established by using chronic unpredictable mild stress stimulation (forced ice-water swimming, electric shock, tail-clamping, etc) combined with lonely raising for 21 days. At the same time of modeling, Fluoxetine (1.8 mg/kg, intragastric perfusion) was given to the rats of medication group, once daily for 21 days. EA (1.5-2 Hz, 1-3 mA) was applied to bilateral "Hegu" (LI 4) and "Taichong" (LR 3) for 20 min, once daily for 21 days. The activity of iNOS, GSH-Px and the content of NO in colon tissue were detected by ultraviolet spectrophotometer method. RESULTS: In comparison with normal control group, iNOS activity and NO content in colon tissue increased significantly (P<0.05), and GSH-Px activity decreased considerably (P<0.05) in model group. Whereas compared with model group, iNOS activity and NO content decreased significantly (P<0.05), and GSH-Px activity increased significantly in EA and medication groups. No significant differences were found between EA group and medication group in these 3 indexes (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: EA of "Hegu" (LI 4) and "Taichong" (LR 3) can reduce stress induced increase of both iNOS activity and NO content, and decrease of GSH-Px activity in colon tissue in depression rats, which may contribute to its effect in protecting the digestive tract from injury under depression.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the protective effects of total glycosides Rubus parviflolius (TGRP) on local cerebral ischemic. METHOD: The local cerebral ischemia in rat was made by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MACO). The infraction weight was determined by TTC stain. SOD, MDA, GSH and apoptotis were determined with different method respectively. RESULT: TGRP 20, 10 mg x kg(-1) ig markedly improved the abnormal nervous symptoms, incredsed the SOD, GSH activity and reduced contentes of MDA in brain of MACO rat, TGRP 20 mg x kg(-1) ig significantly decreased the numbers of apoptotic cells in ischemic cortex. CONCLUSION: TGRP has protective effects against cerebral infraction, and its mechanism may be related to anti-apoptotis and free radical.
