RESUMO

In current study the pharmaceutically active herbs was used against coccidiosis, caused by a protozoan: Eimeria, lead to $ 3 billion loss annually. The aqueous and methanolic extracts of whole plants were applied in-vitro to assess sporulation inhibition (spi) assay and calculated the inhibitory concentration (IC50). For in-vivo study 9 groups of 14 day old broiler chicks were infected with Eimeria tenella and three groups were treated different concentrations of methanolic extracts of Verbena officinalis and Polygonum glabrum post infection. The mean weight gain, oocyst count, diarrhea, biochemical tests, hematology, and histopathology of all groups were analyzed. The herbs were characterized by antioxidant assay, phytochemical screening, Fourier transmission and infrared (FT-IR), Ultra Violet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy and Gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The GC-MS identified phyto-compounds of V. officinalis were docked with S-Adenosyl methionine (SAM) synthetase. The in-vitro study revealed that V. officinalis and P. glabrum have minimum IC50 of 0.14 and 12 mg/ml respectively. The in-vivo experiment showed that V. officinalis had significantly high anticoccidial potential with significant hematological profile like drug treated controls. The histology of treated chicks also showed recovery in the studied tissues. The antioxidant assay showed that V. officinalis have 4.19U/mg Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and 33.96 µM/mg Glutathione (GSH) quantities. The chemical characterization confirmed the presence of large number of organic compounds, however Flavonoids found only in V. officinalis, which suggests the anticoccidial potential of V. officinalis because flavonoids as antagonist of thiamine (Prinzo, 1999), because it promotes the carbohydrate synthesis required. Strychane, 1-acetyl-20a-hydroxy-16-methylene has best binding of with target protein with lowest binding score (-6.4 Kcal/mol), suggests its anticoccidial potential in poultry.

RESUMO

Entropy interpretation with a descriptive heat generation analysis is carried out for the heated flow between two homocentric and sinusoidally fluctuating curved tubes. A novel peristaltic endoscope is considered for the first time inside a curved tube with evaluation of heat transfer and entropy. This flexible and novel endoscope with peristaltic locomotion is more efficient for endoscopy of complex mechanical structures and it is more comfortable for patients undergoing the endoscopy of a human organs. A comprehensive mathematical model is developed that also completely evaluates the heat transfer analysis for this novel endoscope. Certain and systematic computations are performed with the help of Mathematica software and exact mathematical as well as graphical solutions are obtained. Entropy has a lower rate that is almost zero entropy in the central region of these two curved tubes, but maximum entropy is noted near the sinusoidally deformable walls of both the endoscope and channel.

RESUMO

The blood flow inside a tube with multi-thromboses is mathematically investigated. The existence of these multiple thromboses restricts the blood flow in this tube and the flow is revamped by using a catheter. This non-Newtonian blood flow problem is modeled for Jeffrey fluid. The energy equation includes a notable effect of viscous dissipation. We have calculated an exact solution for the developed mathematical governing equations. These mathematical equations are solved directly by using Mathematica software. The graphical outcomes are added to discuss the results in detail. The multiple thromboses with increasing heights are evident in streamline graphs. The sinusoidally advancing wave revealed in the wall shear stress graphs consists of crest and trough with varying amplitude. The existence of multi-thrombosis in this tube is the reason for this distinct amplitude of crest and trough. Further, the viscous dissipation effects come out as a core reason for heat production instead of molecular conduction.

RESUMO

A comprehensive mathematical model is presented to study the peristaltic flow of Bingham viscoplastic micropolar fluid flow inside a microlength channel with electro-osmotic effects. The electro-osmotic effects are produced due to an axially applied electric field. The circulation of this electric potential is calculated by utilizing Poisson Boltzmann equation. The dimensionless form of mathematical equations is obtained by using lubrication theory and Debye-Huckel approximation. We have obtained analytical solutions for the final dimensionless governing equations. Finally, the graphical results are added to further discuss the physical aspects of the problem. Electro-osmotic is mainly helping to control the flow and axial velocity decreases with an increase in the electric field but micro-angular velocity increases with an increase in electric field.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The interpretation & correlation of the different laboratory parameters in positive dengue cases in order to evaluate that which laboratory test is more significant for diagnosis of Dengue. METHODS: Prospective examination of samples (patients' serum) for dengue virus of different genotype by using multiplex anti-dengue IgM, IgG. We have done NS-1 test by (ICT) immunochromatographic devices, and complete blood picture (CBC) by Sysmex XP-100. RESULT: Detection of Viral RNA in 100 patients showed effects in the total of 73 (73.0%) samples. This graphical comparison shows the whole positive cases including dengue NS-I antigen, dengue serology (IgM & IgG), total 62 positive cases of NS-I are detected, 10 positive cases of dengue IgM and 9 positive cases of IgG detected, in which Complete Blood Test (CBC) shows remarkable reduction in Platelets (32 cases) and Leucopenia in (24 positive cases). CONCLUSION: In this research, it is concluded that the diagnosis of dengue cases is preliminary limited to initial stages i.e. CBC or sometimes dengue NS-I, as dengue IgM severity is more effective than that of Dengue NS-I & IgG. Many patients who had negative results in CBC and NS-1 testing, became positive when IgM and IgG serology testing has been done.

RESUMO

The present paper addresses microvascular blood flow with heat and mass transfer in complex wavy microchannel modulated by electroosmosis. Investigation is carried out with joule heating and chemical reaction effects. Further, viscous dissipation is also considered. Using Debye-Huckel, lubrication theory, and long wavelength approximations, analytical solutions of dimensionless boundary value problems are obtained. The impacts of different parameters are examined for temperature and concentration profile. Furthermore, nature of pressure rise is also investigated to analyze the pumping characteristics. Important results of flow phenomena are explored by means of graphs.

RESUMO

Blood flow analysis in the artery is a paramount study in the field of arterial stenosis evaluation. Studies conducted so far have reported the analysis of blood flow parameters using different techniques, but the regression analysis is not adequately used. Artificial neural network is a nonlinear and nonparametric approach. It uses back-propagation algorithm for regression analysis, which is effective as compared to statistical model that requires a higher domain of statistics for prediction. In our manuscript, twofold analyses of data are done. First phase involves the determination of blood flow parameters using physiological flow pulse generator. The second phase includes regression modelling. The inputs to the model were axial length from stenosis, radial distance, inlet velocity, mean pressure, density, viscosity, time, and degree of blockage. Output included dependent variables in the form of output as mean velocity, root-mean-square (RMS) velocity, turbulent intensity, mean frequency, RMS frequency, frequency of turbulent intensity, gate time mean, gate time RMS. The temperature, density, and viscosity conditions were kept constant for various degrees of blockages. It was followed by regression analysis of variables using conventional statistical and neural network approach. The result shows that the neural network model is more appropriate, because value of percentage of response variation of dependent variable is almost approaching unity as compared to statistical analysis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of diazepam on proliferation of chondrocytes in intermediate and deep zones of degenerating patellar articular cartilage in Balb/c mice. STUDY DESIGN: Experimental study. PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY: Department of Anatomy, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Regional Centre, Islamabad, Pakistan, from June 2015 to May 2016. METHODOLOGY: There were two groups of adult male mice as control group A and experimental group B. Group A having 90 mice was further divided into three subgroups having 30 mice in each subgroups. In subgroup A1 having 30 mice were treated normally. Subgroup A2 mice were kept immobilised for 20 days. Mice in subgroup A3 were given normal saline intraperitoneally during next 30 days of remobilisation and sacrificed. Among the mice in group B, normal saline was replaced with diazepam at the dose of 4 mg/kg for 30 days. Control subgroups and experimental group were compared. Data was analysed quantitatively using SPSS Version 16. RESULTS: Significant decrease in mean thickness of combined zone (66.69 ± 2.77µm) and chondrocytes count (5.61±0.76) were seen in subgroup A2 mice than subgroup A1 (77.54 ± 3.4µm) and (5.61 ± 0.76), respectively (p<0.001). Subgroup A3 showed significantly increased mean thickness (95.45 ± 5.17µm) and chondrocytes count (7.31 ± 0.44) than subgroup A2 (P<0.001). No significant increase in mean thickness (96.46 ± 4.94µm) and chondrocytes count (7.35 ± 0.41) of group B were seen than subgroup A3 (p=0.01). CONCLUSION: Diazepam administration does not stimulate proliferation of chondrocytes of combined intermediate and deep zones of degenerating articular cartilage by acting on GABA A receptors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The main objective of this paper is to study the Bio-mathematical analysis for the peristaltic flow of single wall carbon nanotubes under the impact of variable viscosity and wall properties. DESIGN/APPROACH: The right and the left walls of the curved channel possess sinusoidal wave that is travelling along the outer boundary. The features of the peristaltic motion are determined by using long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. Exact solutions are determined for the axial velocity and for the temperature profile. FINDINGS: Graphical results have been presented for velocity profile, temperature and stream function for various physical parameters of interest. Symmetry of the curved channel is disturbed for smaller values of the curvature parameter. It is found that the altitude of the velocity profile increases for larger values of variable viscosity parameter for both the cases (pure blood as well as single wall carbon nanotubes). It is detected that velocity profile increases with increasing values of rigidity parameter. It is due to the fact that an increase in rigidity parameter decreases tension in the walls of the blood vessels which speeds up the blood flow for pure blood as well as single wall carbon nanotubes. Increase in Grashof number decreases the fluid velocity. This is due to the reason that viscous forces play a prominent role that's why increase in Grashof number decreases the velocity profile. It is also found that temperature drops for increasing values of nanoparticle volume fraction. Basically, higher thermal conductivity of the nanoparticles plays a key role for quick heat dissipation, and this justifies the use of the single wall carbon nanotubes in different situations as a coolant. CONCLUSIONS: Exact solutions are calculated for the temperature and the velocity profile. Symmetry of the curved channel is destroyed due to the curvedness for velocity, temperature and contour plots. Addition of single wall carbon nanotubes shows a decrease in fluid temperature. Trapping phenomena show that the size of the trapped bolus is smaller for pure blood case as compared to the single wall carbon nanotubes.
