RESUMO

This article focuses on the technologies used by a manufacturing company to produce threads in chrome-nickel steel 1.4301 at specific sheet thicknesses. To enhance production quality, two specific technologies were chosen for hole formation, considering the requirements of the company. Both conventional drilling and nonconventional laser cutting methods were evaluated as potential techniques for hole production. Conventional thread-cutting technology and progressive forming technology were employed to create metric internal threads. The aim of integrating these diverse technologies is to identify the optimal solution for a specific sheet thickness in order to prevent the occurrence of defective threads that could not fulfil the intended purpose. The evaluation of the threads and holes relies on the examination of surface characteristics, such as the quality of the surface, as well as the lack of any signs of damage, cracks, or burrs. Furthermore, residual stresses in the surface layer were monitored because these stresses have the potential to cause cracking. Additionally, extensive monitoring was performed to guarantee that the form and size of the manufactured threads were correct to ensure smooth assembly and optimal functionality.

Commercially supplied inoculation wires have a guaranteed chemical composition but not the size and distribution of individual phases, which are very important for nucleation. Therefore, two commercial alloys used for the inoculation of Al-Si alloys (AlTi3B1 and AlTi5B1) are investigated in this paper. The emphasis is placed on their structural analysis and the size and distribution of individual intermetallic phases. Furthermore, the grain refinement effect will be tested by adding these alloys to the AlSi7Mg0.3 alloy and testing the optimal amount of added inoculation wires. The results showed that the size and distribution of the individual phases in AlTi3B1 and AlTi5B1 meet the requirements for the successful inoculation of aluminum alloys, the intermetallic phases based on the TiAl3 phase are fine enough, and there is no agglomeration that would reduce the number of nuclei. This assumption was confirmed by adding these inoculants to the AlSi7Mg0.3 alloy, and it was found that the most ideal amount of inoculants added is 0.01 wt % when the structure was refined by approximately 32%.

The article deals with the analysis of chromium layer grinding on a steel substrate, where this issue was addressed with regard to the requirements of the manufacturing sector, specifically in the aerospace industry. The experimental samples were chromium-plated and ground under different cutting conditions by the grooving method of grinding. Two types of grinding wheels for grinding were used, grinding wheel based on SG (solgel) a grinding wheel based on SiC. The resulting microstructure and microhardness in the machined layer were evaluated with using of confocal laser microscopy, inverted materials microscopy, and hardness testing. Based on the results, recommendations were made regarding a suitable approach to grinding the chromium coating. We used a confocal laser microscope and hardness tester for the evaluation of presented values. It was found that, on the base of analyses values, with both grinding wheel and using cutting conditions used, good results have been achieved. This could be stated, because the analysis of the samples microstructure after grinding for the given cutting conditions showed that it is possible that a small influence is completely acceptable from the point of the final product view and there are no major negative phenomena. Measurements of surface microhardness after grinding showed similar results for all samples. The SiC-based grinding wheel showed slightly better results, but both grinding wheels can be used without problems for the presented cutting conditions, and the presented cutting conditions with both grinding wheels can be recommended for the grinding of the given material.
