RESUMO

The controlled study of comparative effectiveness of magnetic stimulation, infrared pulsed laser therapy, niacin electrophoresis by sinusoidal modulated current and ultrasound was conducted for 109 patients with flaccid pareses caused by nerve or spinal root compression. The patients were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups (control group was exposed to laser imitation). The results obtained favour magnetic stimulation and laser as analgetics and reducers of motor deficiency. The benefit from the use of niacin electrophoresis was not proved in this study.

RESUMO

120 patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome and other peripheral myelinopathies were randomly assigned to three treatment groups. One of the group was exposed to pulsed high frequency electric field (47 patients), the other group to continuous current (52 patients), and the third group received the imitation of therapy (21 patients). Pulsed current therapy caused the greatest regress of the neurological deficit (45 from 47 cases). The electroneuromyography of paretic limbs nerves showed that the acceleration of remyelinization process turn to be the background of pulsed high frequency electric field medical action. Both the rheovasography and isotope muscle flow measurements did not confirm the hypothesis about preferential mediation of the healing potency of pulsed short wave diathermy through vascular mechanism. It was suggested the direct influence of pulsed short wave diathermy on protein synthesis process in the spinal alpha-motoneurone and myocyte.

RESUMO

In 21 patients with reflex syndromes of cervical osteochondrosis aged 24-63 years the authors studied short latent somatosensory evoked potentials (EP) in response to stimulation of the median nerve, the rate of impulse conduction along the efferent fibers of the ulnar and median nerves determined with the help of the P wave. The findings obtained by both methods showed a bilateral (on the side of pain and contralaterally) decrease in the rate of impulse conduction along the ulnar and median nerves. The study of the somatosensory systems by registration of EP on the side of pain revealed an increased amplitude and diminished latency of the P9 component which reflects manifestations of irritation of cervical cerebrospinal nodes.
