BACKGROUND: The glycemic control of children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) may be influenced by the economic status of their parents. AIM: To investigate the association between parental economic status and blood glucose levels of children with T1D using a mobile health application. METHODS: Data from children with T1D in China's largest T1D online community, Tang-TangQuan®. Blood glucose levels were uploaded every three months and parental economic status was evaluated based on annual household income. Children were divided into three groups: Low-income (< 30000 Yuan), middle-income (30000-100000 Yuan), and high-income (> 100000 yuan) (1 Yuan = 0.145 United States Dollar approximately). Blood glucose levels were compared among the groups and associations were explored using Spearman's correlation analysis and multivariable logistic regression. RESULTS: From September 2015 to August 2022, 1406 eligible children with T1D were included (779 female, 55.4%). Median age was 8.1 years (Q1-Q3: 4.6-11.6) and duration of T1D was 0.06 years (0.02-0.44). Participants were divided into three groups: Low-income (n = 320), middle-income (n = 724), and high-income (n = 362). Baseline hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels were comparable among the three groups (P = 0.072). However, at month 36, the low-income group had the highest HbA1c levels (P = 0.036). Within three years after registration, glucose levels increased significantly in the low-income group but not in the middle-income and high-income groups. Parental economic status was negatively correlated with pre-dinner glucose (r = -0.272, P = 0.012). After adjustment for confounders, parental economic status remained a significant factor related to pre-dinner glucose levels (odds ratio = 13.02, 95%CI: 1.99 to 126.05, P = 0.002). CONCLUSION: The blood glucose levels of children with T1D were negatively associated with parental economic status. It is suggested that parental economic status should be taken into consideration in the management of T1D for children.

Benthic eukaryotic microalgae were analyzed by metabarcoding the partial 18S rRNA gene in Daya Bay bi-monthly in 2021. Altogether 941 eukaryotic microalgal OTUs were detected, belonging to 27 classes of 8 phyla. Dinophyta and Chlorophyta were the dominant phyla. Microalgal community in the mariculture zone differed significantly from those in non-mariculture zone, reflected by low alpha diversity indexes and increasing abundance and richness of chlorophytes and correspondingly decreasing of dinoflagellates. The abundant occurrences of the pico- and nano-sized taxa such as the chlorophyte Picochlorum in the mariculture zone suggested that nutrient enrichment might result in the miniaturization of the benthic eukaryotic microalgae. The co-occurrence network suggested more negative interactions between taxa in the mariculture zone. A total of 41 algal bloom and/or harmful algal bloom (HAB) species were detected in this study, suggesting a high potential risk of HABs in Daya Bay, especially for the recurrent bloom species Scrippsiella acuminata.

Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) causes testicular damage and reduces testosterone secretion. Testosterone synthesis relies on cholesterol as a raw material, and its availability can be affected by lipophagy. However, the role of lipophagy in Cr(VI)-induced testicular damage and reduced testosterone secretion remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the effect of Cr(VI) on lipid metabolism and lipophagy in the testes of ICR mice. Forty mice were randomly divided into four groups and exposed to different doses of Cr(VI) (0, 75, 100, 125mg/kg) for thirty days. Cr(VI) increased the rate of sperm abnormalities, decreased testosterone level, and decreased the levels of testosterone synthesis-related proteins, namely steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR) and 3ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3ß-HSD) proteins. Through metabolomic analysis, Oil Red O staining, and biochemical indicator (triglyceride and total cholesterol) analysis, Cr(VI) was found to disrupt testicular lipid metabolism. Further investigation revealed that Cr(VI) inhibited the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP1) pathway, elevated levels of the autophagy-related proteins microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3B (LC3B) and sequestosome 1 (SQSTM1)/P62 and lipophagy-related proteins Rab7 and Rab10, while increasing colocalization of LC3B and Perilipin2. These findings suggest that Cr(VI) exposure leads to abnormal lipid metabolism in the testes by suppressing the AMPK/SREBP1 pathway and disrupting lipophagy, ultimately reducing testosterone level and inducing testicular damage.

Panax ginseng is a perennial herb with the main active compounds of ginsenosides. Among the reported ginsenosides, ginsenoside Rg_1 not only has a wide range of medicinal functions and abundant content but also is one of the major ginsenoside for the quality evaluation of this herb in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The main biosynthesis pathway of ginsenoside Rg_1 in P. ginseng has been clarified, which lays a foundation for the comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the biosynthesis and regulatory mechanism of ginseno-side Rg_1. However, the biosynthesis of ginsenoside Rg_1 is associated with other complex processes involving a variety of regulatory genes and catalyzing enzyme genes, which remain to be studied comprehensively. With the transcriptome data of 344 root samples from 4-year-old P. ginseng plants and their corresponding ginsenoside Rg_1 content obtained in the previous study, this study screened out 217 differentially expressed genes(DEGs) with Rg_1 content changes by DEseq2 analysis in R language. Furthermore, the weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA) revealed 40 hub genes among the DEGs.Pearsoncorrelation analysis was further perforned to yield 20 candidate genes significantly correlated with ginsenoside Rg_1 content, and these genes were annotated to multiple metabolic processes including primary metabolism and secondary metabolism. Finally, the treatment of P. ginseng adventitious roots with methyl jasmonate indicated that 16 of these genes promoted the biosynthesis of ginsenoside Rg_1 in response to methyl jasmonate induction. Finally, one of the 16 genes was randomly selected to verify the function of the gene by genetic transformation and qRT-PCR and to confirm the rationality of the methodology of this study. The above results lay a foundation for studying the mechanism for regulation on the synthesis of ginsenoside Rg_1 and provide genetic resources for the industrial production of ginsenoside Rg_1.

Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most aggressive and lethal type of lung cancer, characterized by limited treatment options, early and frequent metastasis. However, the determinants of metastasis in SCLC are poorly defined. Here, we show that estrogen-related receptor gamma (ERRγ) is overexpressed in metastatic SCLC tumors, and is positively associated with SCLC progression. ERRγ functions as an essential activator of extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and cell adhesion, two critical steps in metastasis, by directly regulating the expression of major genes involved in these processes. Genetic and pharmacological inhibition of ERRγ markedly reduces collagen production, cell-matrix adhesion, microfilament production, and eventually blocks SCLC cell invasion and tumor metastasis. Notably, ERRγ antagonists significantly suppressed tumor growth and metastasis and restored SCLC vulnerability to chemotherapy in multiple cell-derived and patient-derived xenograft models. Taken together, these findings establish ERRγ as an attractive target for metastatic SCLC and provide a potential pharmacological strategy for treating this lethal disease.

Beibu Gulf is an important semi-enclosed bay located in the northwestern South China Sea, and is famous for its high bio-productivity and rich bio-diversity. The fast development along the Beibu Gulf Economical Rim has brought pressure to the environment, and algal blooms occurred frequently in the gulf. In this study, surface water samples and micro-plankton samples (20-200 µm) were collected in the northern Beibu Gulf coast. Diversity and distribution of eukaryotic planktonic microalgae were analyzed by both metabarcoding and microscopic analyses. Metabarcoding revealed much higher diversity and species richness of microalgae than morphological observation, especially for dinoflagellates. Metabarcoding detected 144 microalgal genera in 8 phyla, while microscopy only detected 40 genera in 2 phyla. The two methods revealed different microalgal community structures. Dinoflagellates dominated in microalgal community based on metabarcoding due to their high copies of 18 s rRNA gene, and diatoms dominated under microscopy. Altogether 48 algal bloom and/or toxic species were detected in this study, 34 species by metabarcoding and 19 species by microscopy. Our result suggested a high potential risk of HABs in the Beibu Gulf. Microalgal community in the surface water samples demonstrated significantly higher OTU/species richness, alpha diversity, and abundance than those in the micro-plankton samples, although more HAB taxa were detected by microscopic observations in the micro-plankton samples. Furthermore, nano-sized taxa, such as those in chlorophytes, haptophytes, and chrysophyceans, occurred more abundantly in the surface water samples. This study provided a comprehensive morphological and molecular description of microalgal community in the northern Beibu Gulf.

RESUMO

The treatment options for multiple myeloma (MM) have undergone significant transformation with the advent of immunotherapy. Novel therapies that focus on tumor antigens now drive advances in MM research. Bispecific antibodies (bsAbs) leverage revolutionary advances in bioengineering techniques and embody the second generation of antibody-based tumor therapy. Recent studies on bsAbs in relapsed/refractory MM cases have revealed remarkable efficacy and acceptable safety profiles. The approval of elranatamab and teclistamab represents the next step in the development of bsAbs for the treatment of MM. This review article addresses the antigen targeting, efficacy, safety, and strategies in the application of bsAbs against treatment-resistant MM, with a focus on clinical trials and real-world data.

BACKGROUND: Androgenic alopecia (AGA) is the most common non-scarring alopecia disorder. Given its increasing incidence and onset during adolescence, AGA significantly impacts both the physical and psychological well-being of affected individuals. Emerging evidence suggests a pivotal role of metabolites in AGA. This study aims to elucidate the causal relationship between metabolites and AGA using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. METHODS: We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) analysis based on a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to assess the causality of 452 metabolites on AGA. The main approach employed for inferring causal effects was inverse variance weighted (IVW), which was complemented by MR-Egger regression, weighted median, as well as MR pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) approaches. Additionally, sensitivity analyses were performed to ensure result robustness. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were selected as instrumental variables (IVs) in GWAS dataset comprising 452 metabolites. RESULTS: Notably, we identified Scyllo-inositol and Alpha-ketoglutarate as the most potent protective factors against AGA, while Heme* and 2-palmitoylglycerophosphocholine* emerged as significant risk factors for AGA. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis revealed no heterogeneity in these findings. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, our research suggests a potential causal link between metabolites and AGA, offering a more comprehensive insight into the pathogenesis of AGA and present additional strategies for prevention and treatment.

As antibiotic resistance increasingly undermines traditional infection management strategies, there is a critical demand for innovative wound care solutions that address these emerging challenges. This study introduces a novel antibacterial wound dressing based on Cross-Linked Pullulan (Pul) and Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB) for enhanced wound management and infection control. The dressing's adsorption rate reached 200% of its original weight within 30 min, exceeded 300% after 5 h, and exhibited significant non-Newtonian fluid properties. The dressings were able to release the loaded medication completely within 20 min; additionally, the dressing demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against a broad spectrum of bacteria. Significantly, the therapeutic effects of the Pul-PHMB/GP dressing were evaluated in a mouse model. Compared to untreated wounds, wounds treated with Pul-PHMB/GP exhibited a significant gelation process within 5 min post-treatment and showed a significant increase in wound healing rate within 12 days. This powder preparation overcomes the limitations associated with liquid and gel dressings, notably in storage and precise application, preventing the premature expansion or dissolution often caused by PHMB in high-humidity environments. The powder form can transform into a gel upon contact with wound exudate, ensuring accurate coverage of irregular wounds, such as those from burns or pressure sores, and offers excellent chemical and physical stability in a dry state, which facilitates storage and transport. This makes the dressing particularly suitable for emergency medical care and precision therapy, significantly improving the efficiency and adaptability of wound treatment and providing robust support for clinical treatments and emergency responses.

Endometrial carcinoma is one of most common malignant tumors in women, and ferroptosis is closely related to the development and treatment of endometrial carcinoma. The aim of this study was to screen ferroptosis-related genes associated with endometrial carcinoma and predict targeted drugs through bioinformatics. 761 differentially expressed genes were obtained by the dataset GSE63678 from the GEO database, and most of the genes were enriched in the KEGG_CELL_CYCLE and KEGG_OOCYTE_MEIOSIS signaling pathways. 22 ferroptosis-differentially expressed genes were obtained by intersection with the FerrDb database. These genes were involved in biological processes including macromolecular complex assembly and others, and involved in signal pathways including glutathione metabolism, p53 signaling pathway and others. CDKN2A, IDH1, NRAS, TFRC and GOT1 were obtained as hub genes by PPI network analysis. GEPIA showed that CDKN2A, IDH1, NRAS and TFRC were significantly expressed in endometrial carcinoma. Immunohistochemical results showed that CDKN2A, NRAS and TFRC were significantly expressed in endometrial carcinoma clinical tissue samples. The ROC constructed by TCGA database showed that CDKN2A, NRAS and TFRC had significant value in the diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma, and all had prognostic efficacy. 136,572-09-3 BOSS and others were identified as potential targeted drugs for endometrial carcinoma targeting ferroptosis. Our study has shown that ferroptosis-related genes CDKN2A, NRAS and TFRC are diagnostic markers of endometrial carcinoma, and 136,572-09-3 BOSS, methyprylon BOSS, daunorubicin CTD 00005752, nitroglycerin BOSS and dUTP BOSS, IRON BOSS, Imatinib mesylate BOSS, 2-Butanone BOSS, water BOSS, and L-thyroxine BOSS may be potential therapeutic drugs.

BACKGROUND: Depression is the most common psychological disorder in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, the characteristics of microbiota and metabolites in these patients remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate microbial and metabolomic profiles and identify novel biomarkers for T1D with depression. METHODS: A case-control study was conducted in a total of 37 T1D patients with depression (TD+), 35 T1D patients without depression (TD-), and 29 healthy controls (HCs). 16S rRNA gene sequencing and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) metabolomics analysis were conducted to investigate the characteristics of microbiota and metabolites. The association between altered microbiota and metabolites was explored by Spearman's rank correlation and visualized by a heatmap. The microbial signatures to discriminate TD+ from TD- were identified by a random forest (RF) classifying model. RESULTS: In microbiota, 15 genera enriched in TD- and 2 genera enriched in TD+, and in metabolites, 14 differential metabolites (11 upregulated and 3 downregulated) in TD+ versus TD- were identified. Additionally, 5 genera (including Phascolarctobacterium, Butyricimonas, and Alistipes from altered microbiota) demonstrated good diagnostic power (area under the curve [AUC] = 0.73; 95% CI, 0.58-0.87). In the correlation analysis, Butyricimonas was negatively correlated with glutaric acid (r = -0.28, p = 0.015) and malondialdehyde (r = -0.30, p = 0.012). Both Phascolarctobacterium (r = 0.27, p = 0.022) and Alistipes (r = 0.31, p = 0.009) were positively correlated with allopregnanolone. CONCLUSIONS: T1D patients with depression were characterized by unique profiles of gut microbiota and serum metabolites. Phascolarctobacterium, Butyricimonas, and Alistipes could predict the risk of T1D with depression. These findings provide further evidence that the microbiota-gut-brain axis is involved in T1D with depression.

Recent advances in natural language processing enable more intelligent ways to support knowledge sharing in factories. In manufacturing, operating production lines has become increasingly knowledge-intensive, putting strain on a factory's capacity to train and support new operators. This paper introduces a Large Language Model (LLM)-based system designed to retrieve information from the extensive knowledge contained in factory documentation and knowledge shared by expert operators. The system aims to efficiently answer queries from operators and facilitate the sharing of new knowledge. We conducted a user study at a factory to assess its potential impact and adoption, eliciting several perceived benefits, namely, enabling quicker information retrieval and more efficient resolution of issues. However, the study also highlighted a preference for learning from a human expert when such an option is available. Furthermore, we benchmarked several commercial and open-sourced LLMs for this system. The current state-of-the-art model, GPT-4, consistently outperformed its counterparts, with open-source models trailing closely, presenting an attractive option given their data privacy and customization benefits. In summary, this work offers preliminary insights and a system design for factories considering using LLM tools for knowledge management.

AIMS: To evaluate the relative contribution of basal hyperglycemia (BHG) and postprandial hyperglycemia (PHG) to the time in range (TIR) categories and adverse pregnancy outcomes in pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This observational study included 112 pregnancies with T1DM from the CARNATION study who wore continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices during pregnancy. The data from CGM were analyzed for TIR (range, 3.5-7.8 mmol/L), areas under the curve (AUC) of PHG, AUC of BHG, basal and postprandial hyperglycemia contribution rates. The contribution rates of BHG and PHG to the different levels of TIR(<60%, 60-78%, ≥78%) and adverse pregnancy outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS: The participants' average age was 28.8±3.9 years with a diabetes duration of 8.4±6.2 years. All women experienced a mean TIR of 75.6±19.0% and a mean HbA1c of 6.2±1.1% during pregnancy. The BHG contribution accounted for 74.9(36.8, 100)%, 69.2(13.4, 100)%, and 66.5(10.0, 100)% (P<0.001) and PHG accounted for 25.1(0, 63.2)% and 30.8(0, 86.6)% and 33.5(0, 90.0)% (P<0.001) when participants experienced the TIR<60%, 60-78%, ≥78%, respectively. Participants with higher BHG contribution rates tended to have more adverse pregnancy outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Basal hyperglycemia was the major contributor to TIR during pregnancy. Along with controlling the postprandial hyperglycemia, pregnant women with T1DM who did not reach the target of TIR may benefit more from the optimization of insulin regimens focusing on reducing basal glucose.

The detection of liquid electrical conductivity has board applications in food safety testing, water quality monitoring, and agricultural soil analysis. Electrodes used in traditional liquid electrical conductivity detection come into direct contact with liquid, leading to electrode contamination and affecting the accuracy of the detection results. The capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) method effectively addresses this issue. However, impurity particles present in the solution can compromise the consistency and repeatability of detection results. This study combines paper-based microfluidic technology with printed circuit board-capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (PCB-C4D) to address this issue. Prior to sample detection, in situ rapid filtration is employed to remove impurity particles from the raw solution sample, significantly enhancing detection consistency and reliability. Simultaneously, Optimization of PCB-C4D parameters, channel size, filtration time, and solution drop rate ensures optimal detection conditions. A compact kit design facilitates reliable assembly of the PCB-C4D electrodes and paper-based channel, enhancing practicality. Practical measurements on the conductivity of orange juice, cucumber, and soil solution further validate the method's accuracy, rapidity, and effectiveness in in situ conductivity detection. This work advances the practical application of PCB-C4D technology.

Fifteen bibenyls and four fluorenones, including five new bibenzyl-phenylpropane hybrids, were isolated from the aerial part of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods. Bioassay on the LPS-induced proliferations of mouse splenic B lymphocytes, and Con A-induced T lymphocytes showed that compounds 1, 2, and 14 showed excellent immunosuppressive activities with IC50 values of 1.23, 1.01, and 3.87 µM, respectively, while compounds 3-4, 7, 10, 13, and 15 exhibited moderate immunosuppressive activities with IC50 values ranging from 6.89 to 14.2 µM.

Acne vulgaris represents a chronic inflammatory condition, the pathogenesis of which is closely associated with the altered skin microbiome. Recent studies have implicated a profound role of Gram-negative bacteria in acne development, but there is a lack of antiacne agents targeting these bacteria. Polyphyllins are major components of Rhizoma Paridis with great anti-inflammatory potential. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the antiacne effects and the underlying mechanisms of PPH and a PPH-enriched Rhizoma Paridis extract (RPE) in treating the Gram-negative bacteria-induced acne. PPH and RPE treatments significantly suppressed the mRNA and protein expressions of interleukin (IL)-1ß and IL-6 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 and HaCaT cells, along with the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Furthermore, PPH and RPE inhibited the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) P65 in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. Based on molecular docking, PPH could bind to kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (KEAP1) protein. PPH and RPE treatments could activate nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) and upregulate haem oxygenase-1 (HO-1). Moreover, RPE suppressed the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway. Therefore, PPH-enriched RPE showed anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects in vitro, which is promising for alternative antiacne therapeutic.

In recent years, ternary layered double hydroxide (LDH) has become a research hotspot for electrode materials and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalyst due to the enhanced synergistic effect between individual elements. However, the application of LDH is greatly limited by its low electrical conductivity and the disadvantage that nanosheets tend to accumulate and mask the active sites. Herein, a novel Ru-doped CoNiFe - LDH was prepared via a facile hydrothermal method. According to the density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the doping of Ru element could improve electron state density and band gaps of LDH and consequently boosted the electrochemical reaction kinetics as well as electrical conductivity. Furthermore, introduction of Ru atom induced the formation of porous flower-like structures in nanosheets. Compared to CoNiFe - LDH (28.9 m2/g), Ru-doped CoNiFe - LDH performed larger specific surface area of 53.1 m2/g, resulting in more electrochemically active sites. In these case, Ru-doped CoNiFe - LDH demonstrated better energy storage performance of 176.0 mAh/g at 1 A/g compared to original CoNiFe - LDH (78.9 mAh/g at 1 A/g). Besides, the assembled Ru-doped CoNiFe - LDH//activated carbon (AC) device delivered a maximum energy density of 36.4 W h kg-1 at the power density of 740.3 W kg-1 and an outstanding cycle life (78.7 % after 10,000 cycles). Meanwhile, Ru-doped CoNiFe - LDH exhibited lower overpotential (339 mV at 50 mA cm-2) and Tafel slope (93.2 mV dec-1). Therefore, this work provided novel and valuable insights into the rational doping of Ru elements for the controlled synthesis of supercapacitor electrode materials and OER catalysts.

Multiple myeloma is the second most common malignant hematologic malignancy which evolved different strategies for immune escape from the host immune surveillance and drug resistance, including uncontrolled proliferation of malignant plasma cells in the bone marrow, genetic mutations, or deletion of tumor antigens to escape from special targets and so. Therefore, it is a big challenge to efficiently treat multiple myeloma patients. Despite recent applications of immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDS), protease inhibitors (PI), targeted monoclonal antibodies (mAb), and even hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), it remains hardly curable. Summarizing the possible evasion strategies can help design specific drugs for multiple myeloma treatment. This review aims to provide an integrative overview of the intrinsic and extrinsic evasion mechanisms as well as recently discovered microbiota utilized by multiple myeloma for immune evasion and drug resistance, hopefully providing a theoretical basis for the rational design of specific immunotherapies or drug combinations to prevent the uncontrolled proliferation of MM, overcome drug resistance and improve patient survival.

B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) possesses protective cardiovascular properties; however, there has not been sufficient serious consideration of the side effects of BNP. As for sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2a (SERCA2a), it was once considered a new target for the treatment of heart failure (HF). Nevertheless, clinical trials of SERCA2a gene therapy in HF have finally become unsuccessful. Research has found that elevated BNP levels and decreased SERCA2a expression are two important HF characteristics, which are always negatively correlated. We hypothesize that BNP inhibits SERCA2a expression and, therefore, exerts negative effects on SERCA2a expression and function.The effects of BNP on endogenous SERCA2a expression and function were tested in mice with HF induced by transverse aortic constriction and neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (NRCM). Furthermore, to verify the effects of BNP on exogenous SERCA2a gene transduction efficacy, BNP was added to the myocardium and cardiomyocytes infected with an adenovirus overexpressing SERCA2a.In vivo, BNP levels were increased, SERCA2a expression was reduced in both the BNP intervention and HF groups, and BNP reduced the overexpressed exogenous SERCA2a protein in the myocardium. Our in vitro data showed that BNP dose-dependently inhibited the total and exogenous SERCA2a expression in NRCM by activating the cGMP-dependent protein kinase G. BNP also inhibited the effects of SERCA2a overexpression on Ca2+ transience in NRCM.The expression and function of endogenous and exogenous SERCA2a are inhibited by BNP. The opposite relationship between BNP and SERCA2a should be given serious attention in the treatment of HF via BNP or SERCA2a gene therapy.
