RESUMO

Accurate diagnosis and staging are crucial for selecting treatment for patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The desmoplastic responses associated with PDAC are often characterized by hypometabolism. Here, we investigated 18F-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI)-04 PET/CT in evaluation of PDAC and compared the findings with those obtained using 18F-FDG. Methods: Sixty-two PDAC patients underwent 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT and 18F-FDG PET/CT. Identification of primary lesions, lymph node (LN) metastasis, and distant metastasis (DM) by these methods was evaluated, and TNM staging was performed. Correlation between SUVmax of the primary lesion and treatment response was explored in patients who received systemic therapy. Results: 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT identified all patients with PDAC; 18F-FDG PET/CT missed 1 patient. Tracer uptake was higher in 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT than in 18F-FDG PET/CT in primary tumors (10.63 vs. 2.87, P < 0.0001), LN metastasis (2.90 vs. 1.43, P < 0.0001), and DM (liver, 6.11 vs. 3.10, P = 0.002; peritoneal, 4.70 vs. 2.08, P = 0.015). The methods showed no significant difference in the T staging category, but the N and M values were significantly higher for 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT than for 18F-FDG PET/CT (P = 0.002 and 0.008, respectively). Thus, 14 patients were upgraded, and only 1 patient was downgraded, by 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT compared with 18F-FDG PET/CT. A high SUVmax of the primary tumor did not correlate with treatment response for either 18F-FAPI-04 or 18F-FDG. Conclusion: 18F-FAPI-04 PET/CT performed better than 18F-FDG PET/CT in identification of primary tumors, LN metastasis, and DM and in TNM staging of PDAC.

RESUMO

Wearable heaters are essential for people living in cold regions, but creating heaters that are low-cost, lightweight, and high air permeability poses challenges. In this study, we developed a wearable heater using carbon nanotube/water polyurethane (CNT/WPU) nanocomposite fibers that achieve high extension rate and conductivity. We produced low-cost and mass-produced fibers using the wet spinning. With heat treatment, we increased the elongation rate of the fibers to 1893.8% and decreased the resistivity to 0.07 Ω*m. then wove the fibers into a heating fabric using warp knitting, that resistance is 493 Ω. Achieved a uniform temperature of 58 °C at voltage of 36 V, with a thermal stability fluctuation of -5.0 °C to +6.3 °C when bent from 0° to 360°. Our results show that wearable heaters have excellent flexibility and stretchability, due to nanocomposite fibers and special braided structure, which offer a novel idea for wearable heaters.

RESUMO

The predator-prey system can induce wealth properties with fear effects. In this paper, we propose a diffusive predator-prey model where the influence of fear effects and time delay is considered, under the Dirichlet boundary condition. It follows from the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method that there exists a non-homogeneous steady-state solution of the system and the specific expressions are also given. By the aid of bifurcation theory and eigenvalue theory, we also investigate the existence/non-existence and the stability of Hopf bifurcation under three different conditions of bifurcation parameters. Furthermore, the effects of the fear on population density, stability, and Hopf bifurcation are also considered and the results show that the increase of fear effects will reduce the population density, and Hopf bifurcation is more likely difficult to undergo as k increases under some conditions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Gallium-68 (68Ga)-labeled somatostatin analog (SSA) PET imaging has been widely used in clinical practice of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). Compared with 68Ga, 18F has a great practical and economic advantage. Although a few studies have shown the characteristics of [18F] AlF-NOTA-octreotide ([18F]-OC) in healthy volunteers and small NEN patient groups, its clinical value needs further investigation. Herein, this retrospective study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of [18F]-OC PET/CT in detecting NENs, as well as to compare it with contrast-enhanced CT/MRI. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the data of 93 patients who had undergone [18F]-OC PET/CT and CT or MRI scans. Of these patients, there were 45 patients with suspected NENs for diagnostic evaluation, and 48 patients with pathologically confirmed NENs for detecting metastasis or recurrence. [18F]-OC PET/CT images were evaluated visually and semi-quantitatively by measuring maximum standardized uptake value of tumor (SUVmax), tumor-to-background SUVmax ratio (TBR), and SUVmax of hypophysis (SUVhypophysis). A total of 276 suspected NEN lesions were found in these 93 patients. The results of histopathology or radiographic follow-up served as the reference standard for the final diagnosis. RESULTS: Forty-five patients with suspected NENs were confirmed by histopathological examination via resection or biopsy. [18F]-OC PET/CT showed high radiotracer uptake in the lesions of G1-G3 NENs. [18F]-OC PET/CT showed superior performance with 96.3% of sensitivity, 77.8% of specificity, and 88.9% of accuracy in diagnosing NENs compared to CT/MRI. When cutoffs of SUVmax, TBR, and SUVhypophysis were 8.3, 3.1, and 15.4, [18F]-OC PET/CT had the best equilibrium between sensitivity and specificity for differentiating NEN from non-NEN lesions. For a total of 276 suspected NEN lesions, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of [18F]-OC PET/CT for diagnosis of NENs were 90.5%, 82.1%, and 88.8%, respectively, and were higher than those of CT and MRI. G1 and G2 NENs had higher TBR and lower CT enhancement intensity than G3. The SUVmax and TBR had a positive correlation with CT enhancement intensity in G2 rather than in G1 or G3. CONCLUSIONS: [18F]-OC PET/CT is a promising imaging modality for initial diagnosis and detecting metastasis or postoperative recurrence in NENs.

RESUMO

Background: To investigate the prognostic value of clinical features and metabolic parameters in pretreatment 18F-2-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/X-ray computed tomography (PET/CT) scans of patients with angiosarcoma, a rare neoplasm that has not been well characterized. Methods: In this retrospective study, 19 patients with a histopathologically confirmed diagnosis of angiosarcoma who had undergone pretreatment 18F-FDG PET/CT scans were enrolled. We recorded the age at presentation, sex, underlying diseases, sites of primary tumors, Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score, time from onset to diagnosis, laboratory examinations, sites and sizes of primary tumors, treatment modalities, histologic features and American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) stage, maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), average SUV (SUVavg), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) of primary tumors and the whole body. Univariate and multivariate survival analyses for overall survival were performed according to the metabolic parameters and other clinical variables. Results: Patients ranged in age from 27 to 79 years (median: 59 years) with different angiosarcoma types covering all tumor grades and subtypes. Seven (7/19) patients had anemia of varying degrees of severity. Lymph node metastases (n=10) and/or distant metastases (n=11) of angiosarcoma were common. Bone or bone marrow (10/19) and lung (8/19) were the most common distant metastatic organs. Patients with bone metastases, low hemoglobin levels and high ferritin levels had significantly poorer overall survival than those with non-bone metastases, normal hemoglobin levels and normal ferritin levels by the log-rank test, with P values of 0.027, 0.030 and 0.015, respectively. Patients with multiple organ metastases had significantly poorer overall survival than those with single organ metastasis (log-rank P=0.008). In multivariate survival analysis, only whole-body metabolic tumor volume using SUVmax cut-off value of 2.5 (wMTV2.5) was a significant independent prognostic factor. For wMTV2.5, 870.3 cm3 was the best cut-off point to discriminate between a good and poor prognosis (log-rank P=0.01). Conclusions: The systemic 18F-FDG PET/CT with high sensitivity and specificity has significant advantages in the evaluation of angiosarcoma, particularly in detecting occult metastases. Bone metastases on 18F-FDG PET/CT, low hemoglobin levels and high ferritin levels were all associated with a poorer prognosis. MTV2.5 of the whole body is a significant independent metabolic prognostic factor for overall survival in patients with angiosarcoma.

RESUMO

Enhancer of Zeste Homologue 2 (EZH2) as a histone methyltransferase epigenetically regulates laryngeal carcinoma (LGC) progression. The present study sought to explore the role and mechanism of EZH2 in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of LGC cells. Expressions of EZH2, secreted frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1), and trimethylation of lysine 27 on histone H3 (H3K27me3) in LGC tissues or cells were detected via reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blotting. Upon transfection of si-EZH2, si-SFRP1, oe-SFRP1, or H3K27me3 upregulation, cell viability was assessed via cell counting kit-8, protein levels of E-cadherin, N-cadherin, ß-catenin, c-Myc, and Cyclin D1 were determined via western blotting, and Vimentin expression was determined via immunofluorescence. The enrichment level of H3K27me3 in the SFRP1 promoter was measured via chromatin immunoprecipitation-PCR. EZH2 was highly expressed in LGC tissues and cells. Silencing EZH2 repelled the EMT of LGC cells. Mechanically, EZH2 upregulated H3K27me3 in the SFRP1 promotor to inhibit SFRP1 expression, and SFRP1 overexpression inactivated the Wnt pathway. H3K27me3 upregulation or SFRP1 downregulation reversed the inhibition of silencing EZH2 in the EMT of LGC cells. Overall, EZH2 upregulated H3K27me3 in the SFRP1 promoter to inhibit SFRP1 expression and activate the Wnt pathway, thereby facilitating the EMT of LGC cells.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) is a group of autoimmune diseases that frequently leads to unfavorable outcome. This study aimed at identifying the clinical value of PET/CT scan in predicting the outcome of adult IIM patients. METHODS: Adult IIM patients who were admitted to the four divisions of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZJU), from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2020, were retrospectively reviewed. PET/CT scan and other factors of IIM patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were collected and analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 69 adult IIM patients were finally enrolled into this study. Thirty cases (43.5%) of all the patients enrolled died in follow-up, and the medium follow-up time was 11.90 (4.00, 23.80) months. In particular, 14 patients died within 3 months. The univariate Cox proportional hazards regression analyses revealed pulmonary bacterial infection (P < 0.001), rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD, P = 0.018), maximum standard uptake value of spleen (spleen SUVmax, P = 0.002), and positivity of anti-MDA5 antibody (P = 0.041) were significantly related to survival in follow-up. The following multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis identified pulmonary bacterial infection (P = 0.003) and spleen SUVmax (P = 0.032) as factors significantly associated with survival of IIM-ILD patients. The subsequent receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed SUVmax was comparably effective in predicting death within 3 months. CONCLUSION: Spleen SUVmax and complication of pulmonary bacterial infection were significantly associated with survival of IIM patients. In addition, elevated spleen SUVmax was efficient in predicting unfavorable outcome of adult IIM patients. Key Points • IIM is a group of autoimmune diseases that frequently leads to unfavorable outcome • Complications of splenic SUVmax and pulmonary bacterial infection were significantly associated with survival in IIM patients.

RESUMO

To study the mechanical properties of cement-graded crushed stone for use in the transition sections of intercity railways, the growth laws governing unconfined compressive strength, splitting strength and resilience modulus of cement-graded crushed stone and their influencing factors were studied by the vertical vibration compaction method (VVCM). The strength growth equations of cement-graded crushed stone are proposed, and strength prediction equations are established. The research shows the unconfined compressive strength, splitting strength and resilience modulus of cement-graded crushed stone with a strong interlocked skeleton density type (VGM-30) are significantly enhanced to 20, 20 and 17% higher, respectively, than those of standard cement-graded crushed stone. The growth law of mechanical properties of cement-graded crushed stone is similar, with the fastest growth occurring before 14 days, and the rate decreasing after 28 days. The strength growth tended to be stable after 90 days, increasing with the increase in curing time, compaction coefficient and cement dosage. The correlation coefficients (R2) of the strength growth prediction models were found to be 0.99, 0.97, and 0.99, respectively. These values can be used to accurately predict the strength growth curve. This paper verifies the superiority of VGM-30 gradation through laboratory tests, providing a reference for gradation selection in the construction of intercity railway transition sections.

RESUMO

Black phosphorus has important applications in many fields such as optics, optoelectronics and thermals. Many of its excellent properties are related to its special anisotropy. In this work, we adopted Raman spectroscopy, which can obtain fast response optical signals without destroying the structure of the sample, to identify its crystal orientation and explore its thermal and SERS properties. We successfully distinguished the armchair and zigzag directions of black phosphorus by angle-resolved polarized Raman spectroscopy of Ag mode in a less studied orthogonal polarization configuration. Then we used temperature dependent Raman spectroscopy to study its thermal properties. It is found that the first order temperature coefficients of its three Raman vibration modes Ag1, B2g, and Ag2 are -0.0133 cm-1 K-1, -0.0232 cm-1 K-1 and -0.0229 cm-1 K-1, respectively for the 3.2 nm sample. Furthermore, we studied the surface enhancement effect of black phosphorus with different thicknesses as SERS substrates. We found that few-layer black phosphorus has better enhancement effects and its limit of detection for MB and CV are both 10-6M. The analytical enhancement factor of black phosphorus substrates on CV can achieve 1.2 × 103 by calculation. These methods can be extended to other similar two-dimensional materials.

RESUMO

Hexagonal BCN (h-BCN) is considered to be a promising dielectric ceramic material with a hybrid B-C-N structure and an electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing material with tenable properties. H-BCN bulk and microtube architectures are simultaneously synthesized by precursor pyrolysis method using BCl3, aniline (AN) and diethylenetriamine (DETA) as the raw material. By analyzing its electromagnetic parameters, the effective absorption bandwidth of the sample cracking at 900 °C with the proportion of raw materials (DETA:AN = 1:1) can be up to 7.2 GHz, and the minimum reflection loss can reach -43.6 dB at 7.92 GHz with a thickness of 3.5 mm. Moreover, the EMW absorbing property of the ceramic can be tuned by adjusting the ratio of monomers, pyrolysis temperature, and cooling rates.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: It has been reported the prognostic value of MTV in predicting the disease prognosis of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) through pre-treatment PET/CT imaging. However, these are limited data on pretreatment evaluation and prognosis assessments of peripheral T-cell lymphoma-not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS). This study aimed to determine the prognostic values of pre-treatment and mid-treatment total metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and Deauville 5-Point Scale (D-5PS) in accessing the prognosis of PTCL-NOS. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted in 31 patients with pathologically diagnosed PTCL-NOS. These patients have undergone positron emission PET/CT scanning before and during chemotherapy. Follow-ups were also done to investigate the 2-year progression-free survival (PFS) and Overall Survival (OS) of these patients. During [Formula: see text]F-fluorodeoxyglucose ([Formula: see text]F-FDG) PET/CT scans, the MTV and TLG were recorded. Meanwhile, [Formula: see text]MTV and [Formula: see text]TLG were calculated. Furthermore, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was employed to classify and to define the threshold values. On the other hand, the mid-chemotherapy assessment and staging of these 31 patients were done by utilizing D-5PS. Subsequently, based on the D-5PS scores obtained, these patients were grouped into two categories: a group of patients with a score of <4 and another group with [Formula: see text]4 points. For these two groups of patients, the survival analysis was done by Kaplan-Meier analysis and a multivariate COX regression model. Moreover, Pearson's chi-square test ([Formula: see text] test) and Spearman rank correlation coefficient were used to comparing the collected data, respectively. RESULTS: During the 2-year follow-up period, 15 out of the 31 patients experienced disease progression. The optimal threshold values for both baseline MTV and TLG were 158.16 cm[Formula: see text] and 677.40.Additionally, the difference in 2-year PFS between the progressive and non-progressive groups was statistically significant ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]; [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]), significant between-group difference was detected for MTV and for TLG ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]; [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]). On the other hand, when these patients were classified into two groups according to the mid-chemotherapy Deauville score of <4 and [Formula: see text]4, the statistical difference of 2-year PFS between these two groups was significant, too ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]),but there is no significant between-group difference in OS ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]). COX analysis revealed that D-5PS are the independent factors influencing PFS, while MTV is the independent influencing factor of OS. CONCLUSION: The baseline total MTV obtained by PET/CT scanning, and D-5PS are crucial prognostic factors in evaluating the prognosis of PTCL-NOS.

RESUMO

PET is a popular medical imaging modality for various clinical applications, including diagnosis and image-guided radiation therapy. The low-dose PET (LDPET) at a minimized radiation dosage is highly desirable in clinic since PET imaging involves ionizing radiation, and raises concerns about the risk of radiation exposure. However, the reduced dose of radioactive tracers could impact the image quality and clinical diagnosis. In this paper, a supervised deep learning approach with a generative adversarial network (GAN) and the cycle-consistency loss, Wasserstein distance loss, and an additional supervised learning loss, named as S-CycleGAN, is proposed to establish a non-linear end-to-end mapping model, and used to recover LDPET brain images. The proposed model, and two recently-published deep learning methods (RED-CNN and 3D-cGAN) were applied to 10% and 30% dose of 10 testing datasets, and a series of simulation datasets embedded lesions with different activities, sizes, and shapes. Besides vision comparisons, six measures including the NRMSE, SSIM, PSNR, LPIPS, SUVmax and SUVmean were evaluated for 10 testing datasets and 45 simulated datasets. Our S-CycleGAN approach had comparable SSIM and PSNR, slightly higher noise but a better perception score and preserving image details, much better SUVmean and SUVmax, as compared to RED-CNN and 3D-cGAN. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations indicate the proposed approach is accurate, efficient and robust as compared to other state-of-the-art deep learning methods.

RESUMO

Sustainable and smart thermal management in modern wearable electronics is becoming increasingly important for developing the reliability and preventing premature failure of electronics. In this work, we report on the development of a new type of nanocomposite based on highly oriented graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) that is functional as a thermal substrate with enhanced thermal conductivity and efficient cooling effect via a manufacturable process. Firstly, GNP/CMC (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) nanocomposite films (GMFs) were fabricated in mass industry available level by gap coating method, in which GNPs were well preferred due to the driving interface wettability and interaction of CMC, resulting in high in-plane thermal conductivity. Then, GNP/CMC thermal plates (GTPs) with enhanced thermal conductivity (∼29.5 W (m K)-1) and a low density (1.14 g cm-3) were produced using as-prepared GMFs and epoxy as fillers and adhesive by lamination and hot pressing method, thus exhibiting an outstanding heat dissipation on electronic cooling. Under a chip power of 1-3 W, the temperature of chip attached on our GTP substrates can be 18.9 âˆ¼ 47.7 °C lower than that on classic polycarbonates (PC) substrate. The obtained boosted thermal conductance of GTPs is primarily attributed to their biomimetic 'brick-wall' microstructure with GMFs and epoxy as brick and cement, which is the same as the structure of shell with mineral and protein as brick and cement, respectively. With enhanced thermal conductivity and manufacturability, our work provides a new promising technical approach in the next generation of thermal management of high power density electronics and wearable electronics.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The effectiveness of oral hydration in preventing contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) in patients undergoing coronary angiography or intervention has not been well established. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of oral hydration compared with intravenous hydration and other frequently used hydration strategies. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane central register of controlled trials were searched from inception to 8 October 2017. To be eligible for analysis, studies had to evaluate the relative efficacy of different prophylactic hydration strategies. We selected and assessed the studies that fulfilled the inclusion criteria and carried out a pairwise and network meta-analysis using RevMan5.2 and Aggregate Data Drug Information System 1.16.8 software. RESULTS: A total of four studies (538 participants) were included in our pairwise meta-analysis and 1754 participants from eight studies with four frequently used hydration strategies were included in a network meta-analysis. Pairwise meta-analysis indicated that oral hydration was as effective as intravenous hydration for the prevention of CI-AKI (5.88 vs. 8.43%; odds ratio: 0.73; 95% confidence interval: 0.36-1.47; P>0.05), with no significant heterogeneity between studies. Network meta-analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the prevention of CI-AKI. However, the rank probability plot suggested that oral plus intravenous hydration had a higher probability (51%) of being the best strategy, followed by diuretic plus intravenous hydration (39%) and oral hydration alone (10%). Intravenous hydration alone was the strategy with the highest probability (70%) of being the worst hydration strategy. CONCLUSION: Our study shows that oral hydration is not inferior to intravenous hydration for the prevention of CI-AKI in patients with normal or mild-to-moderate renal dysfunction undergoing coronary angiography or intervention.

RESUMO

RATIONALE: Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) complicated with multiple organ abscesses is an uncommon manifestation. Because of the low incidence of the disease, F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography with computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) imaging studies for PAVMs complicated with multiple organ abscesses are scarce. PATIENT CONCERNS: We report a case of a 54-year-old man presenting with PAVMs complicated with synchronous multiple organ abscesses founded by F-FDG PET/CT. F-FDG PET/CT revealed tortuous stripes and mass opacities with no significant FDG uptake in the left upper lung lobe. However, hypermetabolic lesions located in the anterior inferior segment of right hepatic lobe [with maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of 10.7], and in the right basal ganglia with SUVmax of 14.1 were found by F-FDG PET/CT. DIAGNOSES: A diagnosis of synchronous liver and brain abscesses infected by rare Aerococcus viridans was determined by tissue culture. INTERVENTIONS: Vancomycin was provided intravenously, and oral linezolidate tablets were prescribed for anti-inflammatory treatment for 1 month. Liver and head magnetic resonance imaging was performed during the follow-up. OUTCOMES: The lesion in the right basal ganglia was reduced, and the lesion in the right liver had disappeared, indicating the lesions were abscesses. LESSONS: The present case indicated that the possibility of abscesses should be considered with patients with PAVMs, and whole-body F-FDG PET/CT is suggested to identify possible accompanying abscesses in multiple organs for PAVMs patients.

RESUMO

Graphene and nanomaterials based flexible pressure sensors R&D activities are becoming hot topics due to the huge marketing demand on wearable devices and electronic skin (E-Skin) to monitor the human body's actions for dedicated healthcare. Herein, we report a facile and efficient fabrication strategy to construct a new type of highly flexible and sensitive wearable E-Skin based on graphite nanoplates (GNP) and polyurethane (PU) nanocomposite films. The developed GNP/PU E-Skin sensors are highly flexible with good electrical conductivity due to their unique binary microstructures with synergistic interfacial characteristics, which are sensitive to both static and dynamic pressure variation, and can even accurately and quickly detect the pressure as low as 0.005 N/50 Pa and momentum as low as 1.9 mN·s with a gauge factor of 0.9 at the strain variation of up to 30%. Importantly, our GNP/PU E-Skin is also highly sensitive to finger bending and stretching with a linear correlation between the relative resistance change and the corresponding bending angles or elongation percentage. In addition, our E-Skin shows excellent sensitivity to voice vibration when exposed to a volunteer's voice vibration testing. Notably, the entire E-Skin fabrication process is scalable, low cost, and industrially available. Our complementary experiments with comprehensive results demonstrate that the developed GNP/PU E-Skin is impressively promising for practical healthcare applications in wearable devices, and enables us to monitor the real-world force signals in real-time and in-situ mode from pressing, hitting, bending, stretching, and voice vibration.

RESUMO

We rationally designed a facile two-step approach to synthesize ZnMn2O4@G composite anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), involving a template-free fabrication of ZnMn2O4 nanorings and subsequent coating of graphene sheets. Notably, it is the first time that ring-like ZnMn2O4 nanostructure is reported. Moreover, our system has been demonstrated to be quite powerful in producing ZnMn2O4 nanorings regardless of the types of Zn and Mn-containing metal salts reactants. The well-known inside-out Ostwald ripening process is tentatively proposed to clarify the formation mechanism of the hollow nanorings. When evaluated as anode material for LIBs, the resulting ZnMn2O4@G hybrid displays significantly improved lithium-storage performance with high specific capacity, good rate capability, and excellent cyclability. After 500 cycles, the ZnMn2O4@G hybrid can still deliver a reversible capacity of 958 mAh g-1 at a current density of 200 mA g-1, much higher than the theoretical capacity of 784 mAh g-1 for pure ZnMn2O4. The outstanding electrochemical performance should be reasonably ascribed to the synergistic interaction between hollow and porous ZnMn2O4 nanorings and the three-dimensional interconnected graphene sheets.

RESUMO

Titanium (Ti) and its alloys are widely applied in many high strength, light weight applications, but their thermal conductivity is lower compared to that of other metals, which limits their further applications. In this paper, we demonstrated experimentally that rGO-Ti-rGO heterogeneous substrates with higher thermal conductivity, up to ∼38.8% higher than Ti, could be fabricated by electrochemical depositing rGO on their surface. The rGO layers are grown on the surface of Ti substrates, with appearance of bedclothes on the beds. The thickness of rGO layers is around 300-500 nm and around 600-1000 nm when deposited for 5 cycles and 10 cycles, respectively. According to the cooling experiment results, as-prepared Ti + rGO substrates can present excellent thermal conduction performance, and reduce the chip temperature close to 3.2 °C-13.1 °C lower than Ti alloy substrates with the heat flow density of 0.4-3.6 W cm-2. Finally, the approach to electro-chemically deposit hundreds of nanometer rGO layers on the surface of Ti substrates can improve their thermal conductivity and heat transfer performance, which may have further application in the increasing thermal conduction of other metal-alloys, ceramics and polymers.

RESUMO

We report a new type of core-shell heterostructure consisting of a rod-like NiCo2S4 (NCS) core and an urchin-like Ni(1-x)Co x (OH)2 (NCOH) shell via a simple hydrothermal route coupled with a facile electrodeposition. NCS nanorod arrays (NRAs) can not only act as excellent electrochemically active materials by themselves, but they can also serve as hierarchical porous scaffolds capable of fast electron conduction and ion diffusion for loading a large amount of additional active materials. Moreover, it is observed that the urchin-like NCOH nanosheets coating could bind the inner NCS nanorods together and thereby reinforce the whole structure mechanically. Meanwhile, more effective pathways for electrons are available in the NCS@NCOH hybrids than an individual NCS nanorod. Benefiting from both structural and compositional features, the NCS@NCOH electrode exhibits greatly improved electrochemical performance with high capacity (3.54 C cm(-2) at 1 mA cm(-2)) and excellent cycling stability (78% capacity retention after 4000 cycles). Moreover, a battery-type device is also fabricated by using NCS@NCOH as a positive electrode and activated carbon (AC) as a negative electrode, displaying high capacity (2.51 C cm(-2) at 2 mA cm(-2)) and good durability (88.8% capacity retention after 4000 cycles) as well.

RESUMO

For the first time, we fabricated p-type FETs using an individual heavily Al-doped α-Si3N4 NW with a single-crystal structure. The results show that despite a heavy Al-doping level, a typical device still exhibits high performance with an extremely high on/off ratio, 10(3), at Vds = -5 V.
