RESUMO

This research investigated the impacts of lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) on the digestive function, intestinal mucosal barrier function, inflammatory response, and myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) signaling pathway in immunosuppressed mice. 70 mg/kg cyclophosphamide was injected into abdomen for the preparation of immune suppression model. Healthy BALB/c mice served as control for the analysis of the differences in gastrointestinal motility and absorptive capacity, intestinal mucosal barrier function, the phagocytic ability of abdominal macrophages, serum immune factor and inflammatory factor levels, and the activation status of the MLCK signaling pathway after continuous gavage with 100 mg/kg LBP. Results revealed a decrease in d-xylose content, phagocytic rate, index of abdominal macrophages, and spleen index in the serum and urine of model mice compared to those of controls. In addition, levels of IgA, IgG, IgM, IL-6 (interleukin-6), IL-12, and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) decreased, while MLCK and myosin light chain (MLC) levels rose (P < 0.01). Versus those in Model group, urine d-xylose content, phagocytic rate, index of abdominal macrophages, spleen index, and the levels of IgA, IgG, IgM, IL-6, IL-12, and IFN-γ of mice undergoing the gavage with LBP increased, while MLCK and p-MLC levels declined (P < 0.05). In conclusion, LBP improved digestive absorption and immune function of immunosuppressed mice and regulated intestinal mucosal barrier immune system by inhibiting MLCK signaling pathway activation.

RESUMO

As dienes contain two C[double bond, length as m-dash]C bonds, theoretically, they are much more chemically reactive with hydroxyl radical (˙OH) than alkenes and alkanes, and the reaction with ˙OH is one of the main atmospheric degradation routes of dienes during the daytime. In our work, rate coefficients of three types of acyclic dienes: conjugated as 3-methyl-1,3-pentadiene (3M13PD), isolated as 1,4-hexadiene (14HD), and cumulated as 1,2-pentadiene (12PD) reaction with ˙OH were measured in the temperature range of 273-318 K and 1 atm using the relative rate method. At 298 ± 3 K, the rate coefficients for those reactions were determined to be k3M13PD+OH = (15.09 ± 0.72) × 10-11, k14HD+OH = (9.13 ± 0.62) × 10-11, k12PD+OH = (3.34 ± 0.40) × 10-11 (as units of cm3 per molecule per s), in the excellent agreement with values of previously reported. The first measured temperature dependence for 3M13PD, 14HD and 12PD reaction with ˙OH can be expressed by the following Arrhenius expressions in units of cm3 per molecule per s: k3M13PD+OH = (8.10 ± 2.23) × 10-11 exp[(173 ± 71)/T]; k14HD+OH = (9.82 ± 5.10) × 10-12 exp[(666 ± 123)/T]; k12PD+OH = (1.13 ± 0.87) × 10-12 exp[(1038 ± 167)/T] (as units of cm3 per molecule per s). The kinetic discussion revealed that the relative position between these two C[double bond, length as m-dash]C could significantly affect the reactivity of acyclic dienes toward ˙OH. A simple structure-activity relationship (SAR) method was proposed to estimate the reaction rate coefficients of acyclic dienes with ˙OH.

RESUMO

Tactile sensing requires integrated detection platforms with distributed and highly sensitive haptic sensing capabilities along with biocompatibility, aiming to replicate the physiological functions of the human skin and empower industrial robotic and prosthetic wearers to detect tactile information. In this regard, short peptide-based self-assembled hydrogels show promising potential to act as bioinspired supramolecular substrates for developing tactile sensors showing biocompatibility and biodegradability. However, the intrinsic difficulty to modulate the mechanical properties severely restricts their extensive employment. Herein, by controlling the self-assembly of 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl-modifid diphenylalanine (Fmoc-FF) through introduction of polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA), wider nanoribbons are achieved by untwisting from well-established thinner nanofibers, and the mechanical properties of the supramolecular hydrogels can be enhanced 10-fold, supplying bioinspired supramolecular encapsulating substrate for tactile sensing. Furthermore, by doping with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl-modifid 3,4-dihydroxy-l-phenylalanine (Fmoc-DOPA), the Fmoc-FF self-assembled hydrogels can be engineered to be conductive and adhesive, providing bioinspired sensing units and adhesive layer for tactile sensing applications. Therefore, the integration of these modules results in peptide hydrogelation-based tactile sensors, showing high sensitivity and sustainable responses with intrinsic biocompatibility and biodegradability. The findings establish the feasibility of developing programmable peptide self-assembly with adjustable features for tactile sensing applications.

RESUMO

Nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) (i.e., nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2)), which could be produced in wastewater treatment process and result in greenhouse effect and atmospheric pollution, respectively, have been studied limitedly in their emission characteristics and transformation mechanisms. In this study, intelligent oxygen regulation was applied in anoxic/oxic wastewater treatment process (I-A/O), and its effects on regulating NOx and N2O transformations were extensively explored by comparing it with conventional A/O process (C-A/O). Results showed that the average emission amounts of N2O and NOx in I-A/O were 7.45 ± 0.66 mg and 1.88 ± 0.10 mg, respectively. Satisfactory reduction of N2O by 29.28 %-45.08 % was achieved in I-A/O compared to that of C-A/O, but together with increased NOx emission by 83.19 %-120.57 %. Pearson correlation and transcriptional analysis suggested that NO2--N reduction in the anoxic phase dominated N2O production, while no significant N2O production in the oxic phase was found. Hence, the reduced N2O production in I-A/O was mainly attributed to its efficient denitrification process. On the other hand, both the anoxic and oxic phases played important roles in NO production. More importantly, sufficient oxygen in I-A/O promoted the ammonia oxidation process, resulting in higher NO emission in I-A/O in the oxic phase. The imbalance in NO and N2O emissions was then amplified by the NOR enzyme, which mediates the conversion of NO to N2O in both the anoxic and oxic phases. Besides, carbon emission reduction by 31.32 %-36.50 % was obtained in I-A/O due to aeration consumption savings and greenhouse gas emissions reduction compared to C-A/O. Overall, intelligent oxygen regulation optimized the nitrogen transformation and achieved carbon emission reduction in A/O process, but special attention should be paid to the associated risk caused by increased NO emissions.

RESUMO

Lepista sordida is a type of high-quality rare edible and medicinal mushroom, and its research boom is just beginning. More than 80 million tons of grain crop residues are produced each year in Heilongjiang Province. To realize the exploration and utilization of wild L. sordida mushrooms and also provide a theoretical support for the high-value utilization of these resources in Heilongjiang Province, we evaluated the cultivation of L. sordida mushrooms using rice straw, corncob, and soybean straw as substrates. L. sordida grew on all three substrates, and the biological efficiency and yield of the mushrooms grown on soybean straw and corncob were 32.33 ± 1.78% and 4.20 ± 0.23 kg m-2, and 30.15 ± 0.93% and 3.92 ± 0.12 kg m-2, respectively, which increased by 9.38% and 2.08% compared with that on the rice straw substrate with 3.84 ± 0.12 kg m-2 and 29.56 ± 0.89%. The time it took for the mycelia to colonize and initiate primordia on the soybean straw substrate was 22.33 ± 0.58 d and 19.67 ± 0.58 d, respectively, which was delayed by 2 d and 3 d compared with that on the rice straw substrate with 20.67 ± 2.08 d and 16.33 ± 0.58 d, respectively. The fruiting bodies grown on corncob and soybean straw substrates were relatively larger than those on the rice straw substrate. The highest amount of crude protein was 57.38 ± 0.08 g 100 g-1, and the lowest amount of crude polysaccharide was 6.03 ± 0.01 g 100 g-1. They were observed on mushrooms collected from the corncob substrate. The contents of the heavy metal mercury, lead, arsenic, and cadmium in the fruiting bodies grown on each substrate were within the national safety range.

RESUMO

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) has a high prevalence and is prone to many complications. However, current MetS diagnostic methods require blood tests that are not conducive to self-testing, so a user-friendly and accurate method for predicting MetS is needed to facilitate early detection and treatment. In this study, a MetS prediction model based on a simple, small number of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinical indicators and biological indicators combined with machine learning algorithms is investigated. Electronic medical record data from 2040 patients who visited outpatient clinics at Guangdong Chinese medicine hospitals from 2020 to 2021 were used to investigate the fusion of Bayesian optimization (BO) and eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) in order to create a BO-XGBoost model for screening nineteen key features in three categories: individual bio-information, TCM indicators, and TCM habits that influence MetS prediction. Subsequently, the predictive diagnostic model for MetS was developed. The experimental results revealed that the model proposed in this paper achieved values of 93.35 %, 90.67 %, 80.40 %, and 0.920 for the F1, sensitivity, FRS, and AUC metrics, respectively. These values outperformed those of the seven other tested machine learning models. Finally, this study developed an intelligent prediction application for MetS based on the proposed model, which can be utilized by ordinary users to perform self-diagnosis through a web-based questionnaire, thereby accomplishing the objective of early detection and intervention for MetS.

RESUMO

Hipposideros pratti has low genetic diversity and was divided into two clades, the central-western clade and the eastern clade. We did not detect a clear east-to-west dispersal route along the longitudinal direction, and we found that the eastern clade spread outward from one population to another, while the central-western clade spread gradually. The glacial-interglacial period of the Quaternary influenced the migration and dispersal of H. pratti. H. pratti did not experience a significant population increase in the past, and the average population trajectory was decreasing. Given the convenient ecosystem services provided by bats, the preservation of bat populations is particularly critical. Nonetheless, we have discovered that the majority of H. pratti's distributional sites were not discovered in this study. Based on our results, it is important to apply in situ conservation measures for effective protection as soon as possible.

RESUMO

Carbonyl compounds are critical components of volatile organic compounds, which significantly participate in the photochemical formation of atmospheric ozone and thus threaten human health. Here we measured 15 C1-C8 carbonyl compounds at an urban site in Linyi, a typically industrialised city in the North China Plain (NCP). Formaldehyde (3.89 ppbv), acetaldehyde (1.66 ppbv) and acetone (2.03 ppbv) were found to be the top three carbonyl compounds, accounting for 76.11% of the total concentration of carbonyl compounds. Anthropogenic secondary formation was recognised as the main source of the top five carbonyl compounds, which included formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetone, butyraldehyde and benzaldehyde, and accounted for 46-54% of all sources. Alkenes were the most important precursors of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, suggesting that reducing the emission of alkenes from anthropogenic sources is an effective way to control carbonyl compound pollution in Linyi. Furthermore, the photolysis of carbonyl compounds played a significant role (68-75%) as sources of HO2• and RO2• and thus made a significant contribution (14.6%) to the photochemical formation of O3. This study highlights the importance of anthropogenic secondary formation as a source of carbonyl compounds and provides a scientific basis for O3 pollution control in carbonyl compound-enriched cities in the NCP.

RESUMO

Recently, deteriorating ozone (O3) pollution in China brought the precise diagnosis of O3 sensitive chemistry to the forefront. As a dominant precursor of OH radicals, atmospheric nitrous acid (HONO) plays an important role in O3 production. However, its measurement unavailability in many regions especially for second- and third-tier cities may lead to the misjudgment of the O3 sensitivity regime derived from observation-based models. Here, we systematically assess the potential impact of HONO on diagnosing the sensitivity of O3 production using a 0-dimension box model based on a comprehensive summer urban field campaign. The results indicated that the default mode (only the NO + OH reaction is included) in the model could underestimate ∼87% of observed HONO levels, leading to an obvious decrease (∼19%) of net O3 production in the morning, which was in line with the previous studies. The unconstrained HONO in the model was found to significantly push O3 production toward the VOC-sensitive regime. Additionally, it is unrealistic to change NO x but constrain HONO in the model due to the dependence of HONO formation on NO x . Assuming that HONO varied proportionally with NO x , a stronger NO x -sensitive condition could be achieved. Therefore, effective reduction of NO x should be given more attention together with VOC emission control for O3 mitigation.

RESUMO

Atmospheric HONO acts as a major source for OH radicals in polluted areas, playing an important role in formation of secondary pollutants. However, the atmospheric HONO sources remain unclear. Here we propose that the heterogeneous reaction of NO2 on aerosols during aging processes acts as the dominant source for nocturnal HONO. Based on the nocturnal variations of HONO and related species in Tai'an city of China, we firstly developed new method to estimate the localized HONO dry deposition velocity (v(HONO)). The estimated v(HONO) of 0-0.077 m/s was in a good agreement with the reported ranges. Additionally, we set up a parametrization to reflect the HONO formation from the aged air parcels based on the variation of HONO/NO2 ratio. The detailed variation of nocturnal HONO could be well reproduced by a complete budget calculation coupled with above parameterizations, with the difference between the observed and calculated HONO levels being <5 %. The results also revealed the average contribution of HONO formation from aged air parcels to atmospheric HONO could achieve to be ~63 % in average.

RESUMO

To identify T cell subsets associated with control of tuberculosis, single-cell transcriptome and T cell receptor sequencing were performed on total T cells from patients with tuberculosis and healthy controls. Fourteen distinct subsets of T cells were identified by unbiased UMAP clustering. A GZMK-expressing CD8+ cytotoxic T cell cluster and a SOX4-expressing CD4+ central memory T cell cluster were depleted, while a MKI67-expressing proliferating CD3+ T cell cluster was expanded in patients with tuberculosis compared with healthy controls. The ratio of Granzyme K-expressing CD8+CD161-Ki-67- and CD8+Ki-67+ T cell subsets was significantly reduced and inversely correlated with the extent of TB lesions in patients with TB. In contrast, ratio of Granzyme B-expressing CD8+Ki-67+ and CD4+CD161+Ki-67- T cells and Granzyme A-expressing CD4+CD161+Ki-67- T cells were correlated with the extent of TB lesions. It is concluded that granzyme K-expressing CD8+ T cell subsets might contribute to protection against tuberculosis dissemination.

RESUMO

HnRNP K is a well-known member of HnRNP family proteins that has been implicated in the regulation of protein expression. Currently, the impact of HnRNP K on the reproduction cycle of a broad range of virus were reported, while the precise function for PRRSV was lacking. In this study, we determined that both PRRSV infection and ectopic expression of N protein induced an enrichment of HnRNP K in the cytoplasm. Using RNA pulldown and RNA immunoprecipitation, we described the interactions between the KH2 domain of HnRNP K and cytosine-rich sequences (CRS) in PRRSV genomic RNA corresponding to Nsp7α coding region. Meanwhile, overexpression of HnRNP K inhibited viral gene expression and PRRSV replication, while silencing of HnRNP K resulted in an increased in virus yield. Taken together, this study assists in the understanding of PRRSV-host interactions, and the development of vaccines based on viral genome engineering.

RESUMO

Nitrifying system is an effective strategy to remove numerous antibiotics, however, the contribution of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and heterotrophs for antibiotic removal are still unclear. In this study, the mechanism of ß-lactam antibiotic (cefalexin, CFX) removal was studied in a nitrifying sludge system. Results showed that CFX was synergistically removed by AOB (Nitrosomonas, played a major role) and AOA (Candidatus_Nitrososphaera) through ammonia monooxygenase-mediated co-metabolism, and by heterotrophs (Pseudofulvimonas, Hydrogenophaga, RB41, Thauera, UTCFX1, Plasticicumulans, Phaeodactylibacter) through antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs)-encoded ß-lactamases-mediated hydrolysis. Regardless of increased archaeal and heterotrophic CFX removal with the upregulation of amoA in AOA and ARGs, the system exhibited poorer CFX removal performance at 10 mg/L, mainly due to the inhibition of AOB. This study provides new reference for the important roles of heterotrophs and ARGs, opening the possibilities for the application of ARGs in antibiotic biodegradation.

RESUMO

Ganoderma tsugae is well known as a medicinal mushroom in China and many Asian countries, while its fermentation technique and corresponding pharmacological activity are rarely reported. In this study, a wild G. tsugae strain (G42) with high triterpenoid content was screened from nine strains by rice solid-state fermentation, and 53.86 mg/g triterpenoids could be produced under optimized conditions; that is, inoculation amount 20%, fermentation temperature 27 °C, and culture time 45 days. The hepatoprotective activity of G42 ethanol extract was evaluated by CCl4-induced liver injury in mice, in which changes in the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), oxidation-related factors, and inflammatory cytokines in serum or liver samples demonstrated the therapeutic effect. In addition, the ethanol extract of G42 reduced the incidence of necrosis and inflammatory infiltration, and decreased protein expression levels of phosphor-nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), interleukin-Iß (IL-1ß), and nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (NRF2). The chemical composition of the ethanol extract was analyzed by high-resolution mass spectrometry and molecular networking. Three main triterpenoids, namely platycodigenin, cucurbitacin IIb, and ganolecidic acid B were identified. This work provided an optimized fermentation method for G. tsugae, and demonstrated that its fermentation extract might be developed as a functional food with a hepatoprotective effect.

RESUMO

The process of frost formation has been studied as an important deposition pathway for removing atmospheric pollutants. However, the removal of organic species during frost formation remains unknown. Gas, PM2.5 and frost samples were collected in Wangdu, a severely polluted rural site in the North China Plain, during the winter of 2018. The concentrations, distributions, sources, and ecological and health risks of the 16 PAHs in the samples were determined. The 24 h-averaged concentrations of PAHs in the air (gas + PM2.5) reached 719 ng m-3, indicating that the local atmosphere was heavily contaminated by PAHs in winter. The average concentrations of PAHs in the frost insoluble reached 27.5 µg g-1, indicating the strong ambient PAHs deposition during the frost process. The distribution patterns of individual PAH species indicated that the PAHs in the gas influenced the frost samples, and the sources of PAHs in frost samples were highly similar to those in PM2.5 samples. The calculated lifetime lung cancer risk (LLCR) via inhalation of ambient PAHs was classified as high risks. The average total Benzo(a)pyrene toxic equivalent quotient (TEQ) of PAHs in the frost samples was estimated as 2.50 µg TEQ g-1, posing a high threat to the ecological environment and health. After the melting of frost, the PAHs are released into the soil. Although the concentrations are diluted, the PAH concentrations could adversely affect the growing vegetation or agricultural activities. The extremely high PAH concentrations and their ecological and health risks require special attention and strict regulation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (HnRNP) F is a member of HnRNP family proteins that participate in splicing of cellular newly synthesized mRNAs by specifically recognizing tandem guanine-tracts (G-tracts) RNA sequences. Whether HnRNP F could recognize viral-derived tandem G-tracts and affect virus replication remain poorly defined. METHODS: The effect of HnRNP F on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) propagation was evaluated by real-time PCR, western blotting, and plaque-forming unit assay. The association between HnRNP F and PRRSV guanine-rich segments (GRS) were analyzed by RNA pulldown and RNA immunoprecipitation. The expression pattern of HnRNP F was investigated by western blotting and nuclear and cytoplasmic fractionation. RESULTS: Knockdown of endogenous HnRNP F effectively blocks the synthesis of viral RNA and nucleocapsid (N) protein. Conversely, overexpression of porcine HnRNP F has the opposite effect. Moreover, RNA pulldown and RNA immunoprecipitation assays reveal that the qRMM1 and qRRM2 domains of HnRNP F recognize the GRS in PRRSV antigenomic RNA. Finally, HnRNP F is redistributed into the cytoplasm and forms a complex with guanine-quadruplex (G4) helicase DHX36 during PRRSV infection. CONCLUSIONS: These findings elucidate the potential functions of HnRNP F in regulating the proliferation of PRRSV and contribute to a better molecular understanding of host-PRRSV interactions.

RESUMO

To investigate particle characteristics and find an effective measure to control severe particle pollution, year-round observation of size-segregated inorganic aerosols was conducted in Beijing from January to December, 2016. The sampled atmospheric particles all presented bimodal size distribution at four pollution levels (clear, slight pollution, moderate pollution and severe pollution), and peak values appeared at the size range of 0.7-2.1 µm and >9.0 µm, respectively. As dominant particle compositions, NO3-, SO42-, and NH4+ in four pollution levels all showed significant peaks in fine mode, especially at the size range of 1.1-2.1 µm. Secondary inorganic aerosols accounted for about 67.6% (36.3% (secondary sulfates) + 31.3% (secondary nitrates)) of the total sources of fine particles in urban Beijing. Severe pollution of fine particles was mainly caused by the air masses transported from nearby western and southern areas, which are industrial and densely populated region, respectively. Sensitivity tests further revealed that the control measures focusing on ammonium emission reduction was the most effective for particle pollution mitigation, and fine particles all showed nonlinear responses after reducing ammonium, nitrate, and sulfate concentrations, with the fitting curves of y = -120.8x - 306.1x2 + 290.2x3, y = -43.5x - 67.8x2, and y = -25.8x - 110.4x2 + 7.6x3, respectively (y and x present fine particle mass variation (µg/m3) and concentration reduction ratio (CRR)/100 (dimensionless)). Overall, our study presents useful information for understanding the characteristics of atmospheric inorganic aerosols in urban Beijing, as well as offers policy makers with effective measure for mitigating particle pollution.

RESUMO

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), caused by PRRSV, has ranked among the most economically important veterinary infectious diseases globally. Recently, tripartite motif (TRIMs) family members have arisen as novel restriction factors in antiviral immunity. Noteworthy, TRIM26 was reported as a binding partner of IRF3, TBK1, TAB1, and NEMO, yet its role in virus infection remains controversial. Herein, we showed that TRIM26 bound N protein by the C-terminal PRY/SPRY domain. Moreover, ectopic expression of TRIM26 impaired PRRSV replication and induced degradation of N protein. The anti-PRRSV activity was independent of the nuclear localization signal (NLS). Instead, deletion of the RING domain, or the PRY/SPRY portion, abrogated the antiviral function. Finally, siRNA depletion of TRIM26 resulted in enhanced production of viral RNA and virus yield in porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs) after PRRSV infection. Overexpression of an RNAi-resistant TRIM26 rescue-plasmid led to the acquisition of PRRSV restriction in TRIM26-knockdown cells. Together, these data add TRIM26 as a potential target for drug design against PRRSV.

Halogen atoms affect the budget of ozone and the fate of pollutants such as hydrocarbons and mercury. Yet their sources and significances in polluted continental regions are poorly understood. Here we report the observation of unprecedented levels (averaging at 60 parts per trillion) of bromine chloride (BrCl) at a mid-latitude site in North China during winter. Widespread coal burning in rural households and a photo-assisted process were the primary source of BrCl and other bromine gases. BrCl contributed about 55% of both bromine and chlorine atoms. The halogen atoms increased the abundance of 'conventional' tropospheric oxidants (OH, HO2 and RO2) by 26%-73%, and enhanced oxidation of hydrocarbon by nearly a factor of two and the net ozone production by 55%. Our study reveals the significant role of reactive halogen in winter atmospheric chemistry and the deterioration of air quality in continental regions where uncontrolled coal combustion is prevalent.

RESUMO

Designing flame-retardant polymers with high performance is a long-standing challenge, partly because of the time-consuming traditional approaches based on experiential intuition and trial-and-error screenings. Inspired by the effective new paradigm of data-driven material discovery, we used machine learning to analyze experimental data to accelerate the development of new flame-retardant polymers. To explore the relationship between limit oxygen index (LOI) and components, we prepared 20 composites and then trained a simple equation for the LOI using the method sure independence screening and sparsifying operator (SISSO). The data analysis allows us for a better understanding of the flame-retardant mechanism and components, and the equation has good accuracy in guiding the design of composites with high flame-retardant performance. Meanwhile, the increasing structural design of flame retardants is crucial to flame-retardant polymer composites. We proposed a structure of nano graphene oxide (GO) wrapped micro zinc hydroxystannate (ZHS) in a simple but effective way as a novel flame-retardant agent to enhance the flame retardancy and mechanical properties of polypropylene (PP) composites. The GO sheets were like "light yarns" wrapped onto the ZHS via hydrogen bonding in an ethanol solution. The selected samples were analyzed to confirm the predictive LOI model. The resultant composites with the substitution of intumescent flame retardant (IFR) by 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 wt % ZHS@GO conferred better flame retardancy compared with PP composite containing only IFR, reflected by the efficient increase of LOI value and V0 rating of UL-94 vertical tests. The analysis principles and facile fabrication strategies proposed in this work could be important for developing highly flame retardant composites.
